I can see where people come from when they say Madonna broke boundaries, but trailblazing women like her also desensitize society to sex which isn’t always a good thing.
I so agree Miguel. She has been baited by the press for years about Madonna yet she never takes the bait. Love how she compliments Madonna and she is on to the press and other people men and women trying to start something negative between the two. Such a talented, funny , and smart gal. Love her.
Extremely mature of Cindy Lauper to say she hated how the media attempted to turn the women in Hollywood against each other and that she didn't like it.
In 1985 Macy’s in NYC had a “Madonna” look alike contest... My best friend and I showed up dressed up as Cyndi Lauper as more and more women showed up as Madonna... How do you figure that Cyndi Lauper is a great singer? Yeah, she can hit some high notes but nobody understands what she is saying half of the time. Listening to She Bop is like listening to baby talk set to music.
Margaret Reefer Cyndi has a unique voice for sure but I base my opinion on her vocal range, her power to project and the control she has over her voice. To me it’s obvious she’s a great singer. Songs like True Colors, My First Night Without You, I Drove All Night etc really showcase her vocal prowess, more so than She Bop for sure! Anyway I wasn’t criticising anyone, like I said I admire both Cyndi and Madonna, I just think Cyndi is a more proficient vocalist, and ultimately a more modest and nicer person.
Tim Good Vocal range is important, but I place a lot of emphasis on enunciation. Madonna never had a problem being understood when it came to her song lyrics.

@Avalanche it isnt a matter of whether you agree or not. Its facts. Cyndi and Madonna do not compare to each other. They both are extremely different, the only thing in common is that they are both pop icons. To compare them is to compare a diamond to a rock. Two very different things.
What a nice and inteligent person, Cyndi Lauper. Interviewers tried to bait her into negative comments about Madonna, but Cyndi talked nice and respectful about the other superstar.

Cyndi's "True Color" is my most memorable song. I was fresh out of HS and into college. I was ALONE commuting to college and that song was played.. hits me hard.
Entertainment media loves to pit women together and promoting a rivalry/feud between them that most times never existed. It's sad that Cyndi had to defend Madonna so many times over the years. But it's great that she did so, and she did so quite eloquently. It's rather awesome that they seem to share a mutual respect for each other. I would have loved it if they would have collaborated in the studio. I have heard that he would go to her shows, I also heard he would go up on stage, but not sure if it was to perform with her or to show love/support. They both have such great voices that it would have been phenomenal to hear a duet or two with them. Madonna is great as well, and she knew what she wanted and had fun doing it. Same with Cyndi. Matias Figo like your message was a lot of 80s top female singers but lots liked to compare who was best all did very well in theIr own time wish there was a lot more in present day who can compare with cindi Madonna; Kylie Minogue ; Kim wylde and Whitney Houston as there are today but a lot are forgettable
Madonna's pretty but Cyndi is gorgeous...……………...and a much better singer too
robinsss I don't know cyndi... Madonna is the best selling female recording artist of all time!! After 35 years her last album managed to sell 2 million! And that's a fact! If you don't like her, it's ok!!
Ya know... it is ok to not like Madonna. I don't care of she has a legacy. From what I gather, she was influenced by my favorite artist, and not the other way around.
What a smart and empathetic person. Super impressive
Thank you so much Ma'am Cindy, forever in our ❤hearts. Maraming SALAMAT po. Philippines

Cyndi's vocals are beautiful and i spin her records to go back and remember my teen years! God Bless you cyndi for all the music!

7:32 "Anger is not better than Clarity and Humanity" -- Cindy Lauper ❤️
I think Cyndi handled it with such class about Madonna, I love them both & have been such HUGE HUGE fans of both since day 1 & I've seen them both in concert many times & they're both amazing Live, I've seen Cyndi Live 5x's & I've seen Madonna Live 10 X's Out of her 11 Tours (The ONLY Madonna Tour I missed was her very 1st Tour "The Virgin Tour 1985") & AGAIN Both of these ladies are so extremely Talented & They both put on such amazing show live.
I have this woman tattooed on my body! Brilliant woman.
That's amazing ♡
Always consistently colorful, articulate and compassionate - Cyndi Lauper is a wise woman. She gives a stellar performance as the kooky psychic on “Bones”.
Cindy is ageless, will continue always, and a musican
Madonna is a legend ..Cindy Lauper is so underrated beautiful and brillant artist ... excellent singer .. i Love the both Diva ...so different ..so stunning ...2 women with a legendary Talent incredible artist ...don t need to compare ..two diamonds no need to be compared ..two stars in the sky of music
I love her n perfect answer Cindy
Love her!! So nice, all her career listening the same question and still so educated to reply, with good manners , being humble. And that makes her greater ❤
I’ve always liked Cyndi Lauper and Madonna in her early years
She is the best, very thoughtful intelligent answers to the questions they gave her 👏👏👏
I love this woman, so humble and cute and everything I'd love to be 💓
I love both Cyndi Lauper and Madonna. I still listen to their music all the time.
Cyndi has always been classy and gracious when talking about Madonna. I'm not sure if I can say the same about Madonna talking about Cyndi Lauper.
Fyi, Madonna has never ever talked about Cyndi
@@i.c.s.8531 She has, briefly but it happened
@@popland1977 Where? I have only seen one reporter asked M if she liked CL and she said: "Yes, I am a big fan of her music".
Madonna has NEVER spoke with disrespect about Cyndi Lauper! No, Madonna had Cher, Elton John, Mariah Carey, etc continuously speaking negatively of her throughout her career.. while Madonna was the classier one and didn’t respond to them. I think Cyndi Lauper is the same as Madonna, she doesn’t choose to put other artists down in public.
@@shannon.fields THANK YOU!
I kmow I was right.
Watching at this video 5 years later and I'm still impressed by how much honesty Cyndi demonstrated through the years. She's a real feminist.
