Do me a favor (and yourself) and give Mags a sub. Great content and great guy! ruclips.net/user/SteveMagnante
Hi
no, for sure not .
the last channels were not great too and finally I am on the edge of unsubscribing cause too much drama and not so much knowledge .
I can watch the wizzards channels to get more details and knowledge.
Still subscribed but the older the channels grow the less the excitement for the ideas and real content with what the channel had started and made it great.
Looks more like a collectors channel with a growing inventory. I had once 4 cars just to realize that I can barely drive one considering that I take my motorbike all the sunny days.
The Wichita Car RUclipsr thing wouldn't exist without Hoovie. Thanks spreading the love to other youtubers as well and being so generous!
Steve’s a great guy, I look forward to seeing more content from him
I watch Mag every day. I’m a GM guy but a car guy first and he’s got great content.
That expert looks like he’s had ten cups of coffee!

Steve is a "National Treasure" especially for people wanting to know the obscure details of the Muscle Car Era.....So many BS artists out there....Steve is the REAL DEAL!
I love seeing people who are passionate about a subject talk about it. Steve is awesome!
Yes 👏👏👏

Very knowledgeable and likable gentleman. Agree! :)

I smoke weed everyday so I decided to make my very expensive habit into something productive so i smoke weed on my RUclips channel to make some money back 😎🏆
I really enjoy Steve on the auction shows. A true passion and ability to explain the details.
This is actually the smartest Automotive Channel on RUclips. Anyone who can buy a bunch of junk exotic cars that the rest of us could never afford the repairs on if they were given to us, and have his RUclips channel subsidized the repairs so he can enjoy them and go on to the next piece of junk, is an absolute genius.
While at the same time letting his viewers experience a little of what it would be like to own those cars without experiencing the maintenance nightmares and financial bankruptcy
@@geemee3364 It takes money to make money, and he started with tons of it. The genius is convincing viewers that he's just a normal middle-class guy just like they are.
is this a repost
Daddy Doug is actually the brilliant one. He doesn't have to buy any cars he just reviews them. He also profits heavily from a car auction website for cars he doesn't own. He figured it out.
@@geemee3364 well I guess that helps. So much for the rest of us that think we could make a living filming ourselves buying driving and repairing exotic junk, along with the handful truly valuable, sustainable, and easy to maintain and repair American muscle cars
@Qefna Ija ok 👌: ruclips.net/video/sxOM4GrqElw/видео.html
I've been able to "code" Mopars since I was in high school. You can find the last part of the VIN in different places, such as on the radiator support, on the cowl, under the package tray, trunk edge lip, or on the side of the engine block. Too many of these old cars were wrecked and rebuilt, or disguised to be something else. Watch the beginning of the old "Gone in 60 Seconds" and see how the pros did it back in the day. Steal a new car, buy a wrecked one, swap the VIN, door decal, engine, fender plate, core support, etc onto the stolen car.
Steve's the guy we all wish was our friend when we go look at a car. Just like Wizard being the guy we wish had the shop up the street.
I got a wizard around the corner. Actually, he's a Brony. A big, burly brony with a sparkly purple '71 Cuda. I dunno. He wrenches aight. Whaddya' gonna do.

When i heard you were gonna introduce a mopar expert i was hoping for Steve Mags, and i was not disappointed, he is an absolute well of knowledge and his channel is a must watch.

My dad grew up in Kansas and an old Plymouth dealership closed down back in the 70's. He and some friends got into the storage area in the back and found old nose cones and tail wings from the birds. Steve has SOOOO much energy - an absolute expert and very entertaining - if I'm looking for a case of energy drinks I'm sure he'll have a few - I'll have to check to see if the auction is on my cable system this weekend!

Gotta to love Steve with his knowledge and passion. Dude is awesome and so glad you had a chat with him ! 👍👍
I like Steve. When I first seen him at Barrette Jackson I wondered how he knew the things he did about everything. Watching his channel shows me how much he studies for each auction.
That was a beautiful late 60's Cushman Truckster in front of that PT Cruiser! There were actually a few of them all beautifully restored!
The expert's enthusiasm is very infectious!!
I met Steve when I was 12 in 2000 at Carlsbad Drag Strip. He was in the lanes with his '62 4 door valiant. I asked him all kinds of mopar questions and he was amazing with me the whole time. Good dude
Tyler, I've been watching you for a year or more. The last of your comments on this vid just reminds me to express that you are among the nicest, genuine, appreciative, youtubers out there. Your life seems to be going very well, you deserve it.

That micro woodie wagon was a Crosley, have no idea what year though as they pretty much stayed the same throughout their production life. Mostly the grill, company logo's and interiors changed but the general layout and shape was the same.
Here in Greeley,Colorado at Conquest Motors, the owner has around 7 of those, plus GTOs ,Roadrunners, and others.
steve is one of my favorite car journalist/historian. his show junkyard gold is a favorite of mine
That guy is a savant. Tough to find such knowledge with humility.
"I don't know what that is".....I think that was a Crosely.
I suggest that you have your bird front suspension restored to original. And redo the engine compartment to stock as possible.
Since you have the original metal nose, and confirm the rear hemi boxed in rear spring mount, then I would think that the restoration will increase the value worthwhile.
Steve looks like he just took a bump

i was about to say this guy is tweaking lol
If you would like to see more of Steve Magnante, he has a show on Motortrend (on demand) called Junkyard Gold. I don't think they're making new episodes, but if you want to see an encyclopedic knowledge as he walks around junkyards looking at rare cars, it's amazing. I could watch for days.
You're doing a great job on the Barrett Jackson coverage. Keep up the good work.
Steve Magnante is a national treasure. He's forgotten more about cars than I will ever know and is a class act.
Way to get Steve Mags on the video! Dude's insanely knowledgeable.
id love to watch a full video of Steve going over Hoovies Superbird and pointing out all the differences from a stock Superbird and such. That lil sample wasnt enough, i need the deep dive
Tyler, the first indicator on your super-bird was that the speedometer cable was disconnected. I never trust anyone that removes this as you would never be able to check the real miles on it. The amateurish way the car was assembled shows that it was a rush job and maybe their bottom of the wallet was showing.
as soon as you hear the term "resto mod" who knows what was done to it, the previous owner could have done anything and not said it.
Two of my favorite channels just met - Steve is an amazing guy, glad you got to meet him. This is a really cool video
Steve diplomatically dissing Tyler's Super Bird is the best part of this.

You're doing a great job on the Barrett-Jackson broadcasts Tyler!
Even with my limited experience with Mopar torsion-bar front suspension (1972 Plymouth Satellite), I'd say the coil-overs are a resto-mod worth having. We had the bars cranked to the max on the Satellite and it would still slam against the pavement over any kind of whoop-de-do you'd find on the back roads.
That could be true though remember the superbird is 500 +- heavier and may use much higher rate bars. Also even if it didn't you could retain a torsion bar setup and use higher rate ones. Index keys are another variable and wear item. So depending on application changing just the keys does the job. It isn't the technology of torsion springs that's the issue here and a change to coils can remedy it.
Not on one of these cars, they go up in value the more original they are since they are rare.
You just had no idea how to tune torsion bar suspension. It is the simplest spring to tune. IF you know how.
Thanks @@Apocalypse_Cow! It's never too late to learn - what were we doing wrong? Seems like once you're at the end of the adjustment and it's still not enough ... where do ya go?
@@nixonkutz3018 you can change the size of the TB to the next higher or lower level and find the best adjustment. You can also change to a higher durometer rubber bushing or go with polymer bushings.

Steve is great, always enjoyed his Barrett Jackson Coverage and his Motortrend show is great too.
I’m gonna guess it goes for anywhere between $150,000-$180,000
Steve Mags is by far one of my favorite people to watch and learn from! Hoping to one day have as much knowledge in classics that he has!
That's low for such a nice low mile Hemi car. The other 440 car that sold on BaT went for $200k
@@JBBBBBBBB250 exactly! If this R code Hemi sells for less than what the 440 car went for, there's something seriously wrong. That could very well be a $400k-$500k car.
Guess I didn’t see that 440! I’d probably change my guess to anywhere in between $380,000-$440,000. I still feel like the Superbird/Daytona market isn’t as high as you would assume it’d be. Hopefully we’ll see the value rise to a more acceptable price.
If that Superbird goes for less than 7 figures there's something seriously wrong with this timeline.
@@1pcfred if I’m remembering right Richard Petty’s 43 Superbird didn’t sell but got up to $3.5 million. But normally Superbirds/Daytona don’t seem to go that high unless it’s a very rare or good example. One Daytona I’d like to see cross the block is known as the IRS Daytona. Seen it in a small classic car dealer when I was 17. And from what I can tell it’s only 1/11 numbers matching all original Daytona’s left.
Steve seems like he probably has a pod cast, or a radio show. He has the knowledge, and the voice for it.
Steve Magnante...makes coffee nervous... haha. Fun chat and sure you deserved some of those zings. In the end Hoovie...you still have a real Superbird...even if it does have a silly Hemi in it...what were they thinking? Haha. I agree...we all should subscribe to Steve's channel too.

You have to have an idea on what you wanna invest in carefully before going in,.

Watching these Superbird rising in value, Hoovies should consider returning the most he can into into stock specs. Like replacing the front suspension to the original torsion bars and rims.
And dump those rims...😉
He has no reason to do that until he plans to sell it
Great video, Tyler! I would love to explore an auction like that! Thanks for taking us along! 😎
Is it possible Steve had a little too much caffeine? Maybe he's just a little hyper naturally, I'm not sure. But regardless, he knows his cars.
not sure it its caffeine, but in the same ballpark i guess
Think he likes a little bit of booger sugar
That mopar guy is a prime example of someone that loves their job and is just plain GREAT.
This is from the BAT description:
“This car reportedly was T-boned in a race in the 1970s, and during the aforementioned 2000s refurbishment it is said to have been partially rebodied using the driver-side door and midsection floor from a donor Road Runner”
Then why is the trunk VIN missing? And why is the hood one fake?
There’s been something very fishy about this car from day one, including the seller and the missing memorabilia.
That’s what I’m thinking also, it wasn’t rear ended and had the trunk replaced. I believe it’s a clone car he can say whatever he wants about it but would probably have a problem selling it as a real superbird.
I agree, but then again you could also argue the BaT description isn't entirely accurate, either. Who knows if anyone has the completely real, 100% accurate story of how this thing was restored.
Blah blah blah blah blah
Steve Mags is da man! Your a lucky man Hoovie to own a Superbird, DONT SELL IT!

That two door Tahoe reminded me of a guy, down the street from me at the time, who’s brakes locked up on his. He decided the best way to free them was to constantly put it in forward and then reverse and rev through it. Only thing he ended up doing was snapping an axle.
Hey Tyler, it seems like you keep agonizing over your SB. Much like Steve, I was troubled by the "liberties" the builder took with the car. Building a restomod is really something you do with a crappy no-nothing Camaro, not a rare hemi Superbird. I really think you should go see Mark Worman and you two should collaborate on getting the car in much more stock trim. It would make for some really great video. In any event I really enjoy watching your channel keep up the good work!!! Thanks!!!
Exactly what I thought. If you are going to change everything, don't start with a rare classic.
Realistically it would cost so much that it would have to be a labor of love, Steve pretty much said it wasn't worth it now, maybe in the future if the value continues to rise.
I find Steve's channel really interesting as a Brit to learn about old US cars. Good to see him on here
The back story about it being a crashed race car that was rebuilt always sounded like it was covering for the car not looking original
Been subbed to Steve Mags for a while. Huge fan of his knowledge. I've learned tons from his videos.
Its easy enough to swap out the dash to keep the vin plate, and move the critical parts over to another junked regular car and put on some fancy paint snd gold whhels. So much of it isnt original (even though the hemi is there, its not the original one). There just isnt enough provably original there, and too much stuff that is inexplicably questionable, to confidently call it an original.
More to it than just throwing parts at a "regular" car. Superbirds have quite a bit of special "Superbird only" parts.
@@21Piloteer they could be transferred over from the real one. This one was supposed to be a just a partial rebody, but it sounds more like they took a wreck and Frankenstein grafted salvaged genuine Superbird parts on to a junked regular Charger or Roadrunner and fudged the rest like the suspension and engine.
WHAT A FKN MOMENT WHEN THE CAMERA PANS TO STEVE. THE PERFECT GUY!!

Steve Magnate.... I enjoyed his show junkyard gold. Love the mind barf of car knowledge.
“Partial rebody” means the firewall with the vin was grafted onto another car
Nice to find out that the vin on your Superbird proves that it's not a fake. The expert makes a great point. At sometime in the life of man of these cars they were driven hard and sometimes wrecked, and sometimes some genius decides to make some drivability upgrades to the cars so they become a little bastardized. I think it's all just a matter of perception and what's important to a person. If you want one that's all original you're going to have to pay the price if you can even find one, and one that's up for sale.
