This past summer, my wife and I were on a cross country road trip that took us through Kansas so we stopped by the shop just so I could say I had actually been there. I met Crazy D and asked if it would be an imposition to look in the shop and say hello to The Wizard if he was around. As luck would have it he was and he was kind enough to stop what he was working on to say hello and chat for a minute with a fan. After that Crazy D was generous enough to give us a tour of the shop and Hoovies' projects. It was an awesome experience and I am happy to report that these guys are every bit as cool as they look on TV.

Alot of his work is done from a more first person perspective with things like a body cam etc. I honestlly think These people filming their work brings more customers because the transparency it gives, people will trust you more when they can clearly see they wont get ripped off. Also the cameras add an insurance policy to the shop as it can prevent fruad from customers or a insurance company because the work done is clearly documented and nobody can refute if wasnt done right

And did that for many years. I don’t think that program could ever be duplicated. Once they read a letter from a young girl complaining about the show. She said her dog even hated it. They called her and invited her to appear with them. Very funny. Martha Stewart sat in with them. They took a call from space once. They even talked with their mother till she passed away. For me, watching the Wizard own the mistake on the Merc had to be damn hard but was the right decision. Mistakes happen, how we respond to them is everything and he owned it and made it right. I just wish I didn't live so far away because I have a car that could use his help.

We had a family equipment manufacturing business for over 35 years. As anyone that's ever had a business knows, you're there seven days a week. Saturdays and Sundays, the radio was always on in both the office and the shop area. When Click and Clack " The Tappet Brothers" we're on, everybody would be busting up laughing. I don't think anybody can replace their corny jokes, hilarious interactions with their listeners ,and infectious laughing.
I still receive "Puzzle of the Week" emails from their website🤣

He's got a good upfront delivery of his material on his channel too. The Bob Ross of car mechs. I'm from the UK so some of the cars, particularly trucks I don't relate to. However, it's his method of work - how he approaches it, is what intrigues me and keeps me hooked on his channel, regardless of vehicle. Always a good watch.

I have a friend who has a shop similar to Mr. Wizard's shop. He has 6 full time mechanics and 3 part time and he wrenches himself. He has 2 front office people who answer the phone, deal with customers and source/order parts. There's always a buzz going on in his shop.
Every time I see Tyler show up at the shop and the camera pans around, I'm amazed at the lack of activity in the place. Wizard's hands don't seem to be too dirty and Magic Mike a couple of others seem to be the only people under hoods.
I don't know how RUclips pays. But I simply had to conclude that it pays better than wrenching to have such a big facility being so quite every time the cameras show up.

When you get ready to retire in a few years you’ll be glad that you kept your eyes on the BOTTOM LINE ... the years fly by and when they are gone they aren’t coming back. The Hoovster has got his ... wrenching and filming are like apples & oranges, keeping your shop in the Black is critical - filming doesn’t always work out the best as it takes tremendous patience.

Dave's videos are very educational. He goes in depth about the problems of cars he receives in his shop. I studied motor vehicles from 2006 - 2008. I didn't pursue it as a career and forgot a good chunk, but finding people like Dave and others like Tavarish & Jared Pink, it's helped me remember more on what I studied 15/16 years ago.

Car Wizard is probably the best automotive channel out there and my personal reason for getting into mechanic(ish) work. I'm not as intimidated by working on my own car anymore. He's straight and to the point, easy to understand, and his wife (or whoever films that day) does excellent camera work showing the areas of the cars very clearly. And he just has fun stories to tell. Love listening to his videos while working or just to kill time and chill.

It is so hard to find a trustworthy mechanic that knows what they are doing and wont rip you off that people will put up with almost anything if they know their car will be fixed right. On top of that if they see videos of cars being fixed at the shop with the problem solving that goes on they will want their car fixed in this place even more.

Most outside shops (I work for a highline dealer) make this mistake in thinking that having a YT channel is something they can control, this video is what happens when outsiders (film crews/producers) dictate how a shot or an episode will go that day/week/month. And alot of shops don't like to expose themselves or their clients vehicles in such a way that liabilities are created (accidents do happen) or seeing how things are done that the public really shouldn't see. Any shop that does go the route of opening a channel should step back and think if it's really worth it........
