I pray early in the morning, do Bible study. Then in the afternoon I either meditate on Scripture or talk to God. I do have a bit of a monkey mind when I talk to God. Sometimes I am all over the place with my thoughts, but I am just sharing what's in my heart.❤
So, it is normal not to kill off the entire population just to make use of the nickliest of resources for robots attempting to save other people from cosmic collisions of planetary bodies sending fregments killed off into the Celestle (star) as well.
I try to meditate every evening before dinner, both to help reduce anxiety before eating and to do it at the same time every day to try to develop a routine. Both eating and sticking to a schedule are very difficult in my current environment and with my health issues, and I use meditation to help with this. It doesn't fix everything, but it does help.
864 various mantras I have to do in the morning, later 972 mantras of my yidam. I started reading "the path of purification"...but headaches make it difficult.
Meditation at least twice a day for only 5 minutes. Sometimes it's longer just because it naturally is. Also quieting the mind during activities. Practicing Now presence. Thank you Venerable Nick. ❤
Today dentist removed 3 of my teeth. It wasnt pleasent, but gave me a chance to pull myself back to watching my breath. In the end they said nobody was that patient and well behaved as me.
You said in a video that "greed is bad". I learned that "being still and doing nothing are two different things." I have to want things in order to get out of bad situations. There is nothing wrong with wanting things. Being still and meditation are good things. This world can learn to be still but telling me to not want things and do nothing will make a lot of us really unhappy.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Meditating with your eyes open reminds me of something I’ve learned in my tàijíquán training: When practicing the form (some kind of “choreography” combining different techniques that originate in martial arts) I try to focus on one aspect only and improve it as much as I can. I think that this is what you would call an anchor in meditation. And I totally agree with you - beating yourself up is not a good idea. It’s not only frustrating and might lead to yourself giving up. Someone once told me that it’s actually a moment of awareness when you notice that your mind is wandering around. As you say you can then bring it back to your anchor. I also try to watch my thoughts with some kind of curiosity instead of beating myself up.
Thank you for the gentle reminder to train our mind in both our formal meditation & also when we go through our normal life. Training my mind has helped me to sometimes arrest my over active mind & bring myself back to reality - the present moment. Still a long way to go but I am trying! 🙏🏼
Hi! I love watching your videos! They give me a lot of wisdom and some strategy in this life. Thanks for this🙏 I would be extremely grateful if you make a video about behaviour during a real war. I’m Ukrainian and this kind of wisdom according to Buddhism tradition might be helpful for all Ukrainian people😊
Namo buddhaya bhante I practice to remain aware or present throughout day plus meditation, i don't know the benefits of this in sittings but to be aware even if there are lapses is blissfull the touch of air, the traffic, the vocal sound of people including family members, twinkling eyes, shaking voice & distortion in the rhythm of breath during anger... World never becomes old when we are aware its always fresh, new☸️
As one will with fishing, we must reel our minds back in. Thank you. This is definitely something that I must work more diligently at, because I have been "allowing", emphasis on that, to trouble me too much and for too long. While it is not causing me major issues, such as appetite or work, I know something must be done, particularly when my life, otherwise, is quiet, peaceful, orderly, good, and light. As always, good to see you and know that you are well. Blessings to you, your family, and the fellow monks there.🙏💪
Good evening and warm greetings from Germany! Thank you very much for this great video and all the wonderful advice... I've been meditating for 20-30 minutes every day for a long time and I'm happy about how much calmer my mind has become... not just in meditation... .🙏
Thank you Nick. Being able to ground oneself and be present in the moment, although it sounds so Simple, it reaps great benefits. Thank you for all your guidance and shared wisdom, it has been my life buoy. Sadhu
In addition to mindful breathing, what helps me is a mantra or reciting scripture to myself until my mind is clear and calm again. Just a thought. Hope it helps.🙏💪
Much love for you and your really helpful content. Your words are so well chosen and your messages really resonate. Thank you so much! Sending peace and love✌️💓
On a retreat I went on, it was discussed how you need hooks to tame the mind, like elephants. Although, you should tame your own mind, not have hooks put into you by other people.
This is my second view and it is more helpful this time. I'll remember to remind myself not to force my mind anymore than I would if I were training a puppy. This has been my tendency to force things. Relax. Train your mind patiently. ❤❤
My meditation practice is not consistent. Thank you for this peaceful, inspiring message. I shall commit to a daily sitting practice to train my mind. Thank you. 🙏
Good morning Sadhu, I have returned to view your channel after a long time A lot has happened and I need your Spiritual Guidance to set some clear intentions and boundaries.
I begin with Venerable Nick's meditation videos as from the Budhist times i made a playlist and used just watching the stream or the meditating monks. Then later i tryed the Japanese method Zazen which is just sitting and also just walking Then i invented some artistic in my mind maybe even anew for cars to be fit with Zazen. And some feels. And then later i am still engaged with my imaginative artwork sometime.
I would like to hear you speak about the adverse effects of meditation/mindfulness that science has recently reported on, such as depression and anxiety that arise from meditation.
Hello Nick! I really love your channel and I wish I could translate your videos to Brazilian Portuguese, what do you think? If you would like please tell me! I would love to make a collab. I think that Buddhist teachings need to have a greater space in the West. But anyway, dont feel pressed. It is just a suggestion. Keep up with your amazing work in this channel!
Hello. it depends, but for someone who is just starting out and would like to develop a daily meditation practice, I would recommend a minimum of five minutes a day. You can sit longer if you like, but make sure to hit the five minute mark. And most importantly, do this every single day :-)
@@NickKeomahavongOfficial Thank you very much. I read in a book by Jung "the secret of the golden flower", I don't know if this is the English translation, and in the Chinese scroll it said a quarter of an hour. I've been doing 15 minutes since then. Should I increase it little by little? Up to how much? I think I've been practicing daily for a year. 🙏
What advice do you have for someone who is beginning meditation and is now experiencing Increased irritability, annoyance and impatience? Do you have to have a therapist to benefit from meditation?
Also, if you make a habit to mindfully breath throughout the day, not just during meditation, you will have less of a wandering mind during actual meditation. At least that's been my experience.
The great thing about this is that you can't get worse! And meditation only need be a few seconds at first, then after a week you can try five minutes, etc. Some days I can sit for fifteen minutes in complete peace, some days I have to use other calming tools to get focused first, and even then I can only do a minute. Patience with yourself, I have learned, is key.
What does your meditation and mindfulness practice currently look like?

Oh yes, practicing mindfulness at the dentist is definitely helpful. Great work my friend 😊
The way you connect Buddhist teachings to modern mental health challenges is brilliant
Whatever you fight, you strengthen and whatever you resist, persists.
Yesss great point 😊
