      Agreed.
      She has been a soldier 🪖🪖 out in these media streets for ALL the normal sized women who weren't size 2 for decades in FRONT of the camera.
      And on the gossip rag magazines at the grocery store, EVERY week. She didn't have a baby, she was single and dating a high profile successful Black businessman.
      The ONLY Black woman on television , millions of homes, five days a week, twice a day. The live taping during the day and the rebroadcast in the afternoon.
      That's a lot of scrutiny and eyeballs all over your stuff. Producers, affiliates, advisors, health gurus, stylists, acting coaches, ALL having a say about how you look.
      Oprah had Bill Green her personal trainer on with his many books about how to eat and how to work out.
      Oprah had her personal chef, the fat gay guy, selling his book of Oprah's foods and favorites.
      As you said, it has been a journey baby.
      Nobody has earned her way to weight loss mediation more than Oprah. Nobody. Period.

    Please can we remember that Ozempic is not a “weight loss drug”. Its primary purpose is to treat type 2 diabetes (yes it also helps diabetics to manage their weight). However celebs and other people who are not diabetic have created a shortage of this drug for diabetics who need it. Also remember these celebrities have access to private chefs and personal fitness trainers, but never mention them in their miracle weight loss stories.

After being in the public eye for 40+ years, the mental health toll of this weight struggle was probably right up there with the physical health issues she is experiencing as a SEVENTY year old woman. Using something scientifically put together to help is the right move IMO. I’m proud of her for taking advantage of it. It is disheartening how women, no matter our accomplishments are reduced and berated for our looks and weight. This woman is a phenomenon and yet she is disrespected and bullied for her weight. I can a relate. I was in attendance of my father's funeral and an older relative proceeded to tell my sister that they needed to put me on a diet. While standing in front of the open casket of my father. My sister handled it with grace and quietly told her that "this was not the right place for this". Meanwhile she wanted to go off on her. My sister, was the exact same size at the time. I have always been very thin. I am now a US women's size 12 and was still called fat. Crazy thing was, she was bigger than both of us! Luckily, I have a strong spirit and self-esteem. I choose to walk in a positive light and ignore the Bitter Betties. Luckily, I only see her every decade or so. Love the image that you are currently rocking. It is not an indictment of your character and charm. This behavior is a symptom of toxic dysfunctional people.

    Just WOW.!.
    As a physician who regularly prescribes these medications, I find Oprah's casual approach to their use as a temporary solution rather than a lifelong commitment to lifestyle changes and emotional well-being in the pursuit of weight loss to be concerning. Saying “Thanksgiving is coming and I have a lot of solid eating to do” is perplexing. It sounds like “I better patch up with some Ozempic, so I gain only so much, instead of a lot more”. How about “Thanksgiving is coming, I better continue to monitor what I eat”. She is basically admitting to using the medications as the licence to continue her previous lifestyle, but without the consequence of weight gain.
    From a medical standpoint, this does not align with the prescribed use of these medications. It appears evident that Oprah has not addressed the underlying issues contributing to her overindulgence with food. Weight management requires a lifelong commitment, incorporating a multifaceted approach including exercise, food portion size control, and psychotherapy.
    Oprah's flippant attitude towards these medications demonstrates a lack of understanding regarding the comprehensive physical and psychological therapy necessary for sustainable weight loss and maintenance. By making such statements in the context of Thanksgiving, without putting in the necessary effort, she is directly contributing to the perpetuation of stigma surrounding the use of these medications.

Unfortunately, most times we humans tend to assume the negative, particularly when it comes to others.

    • @michellebrock5924
      @michellebrock5924 9 месяцев назад

      @@lindao.ezenwammadu7056and sometimes people are not informed on the progression of medicine and the human body. It’s a new day and research is revealing new insights on the factors that motivate weight gain. For instance folks who gain weight easily may be deficient in the hormone, GLP1, that is in Ozempic/Wegovy like drugs. It is inhumane to continue to tell folks to just cut back on your calories and work out more to lose weight when they have an actual medical condition that fails to regulate their appetite. And the emerging research from the use of these drugs is shedding light on improving the treatment options for individuals who suffer from substance use disorders like alcoholism which is a medical condition. Again, it’s a new day and we should welcome improvements in medicine, especially when said improvements reduce the incidence/complications of chronic diseases that increase Black women chances of dying. And lastly, racial trauma plays a huge role in our metabolic function, but you’ll never hear the medical community address Black womens health issues from this viewpoint. Why? I think you already know the answer.

Obesity is a complex chronic condition with multiple contributing factors in addition to diet and exercise. Wegovy is approved purely for weight loss and not for diabetes. I find the whole discourse on ‘cheating’ when it comes to weight loss, another way of glorifying struggle
    Some people’s genes, habits, medical issues, mentality, go beyond calorie deficit/exercise
    People say the term obese can’t be offensive because it refers to a medical condition, well if that’s the case, then what is the problem with using medication, to alleviate the symptoms of it?
    Anyway a fabulous take Aunty Fumi, so warm and gracefully done 🩷🌷

    • @ori4627
      @ori4627 9 месяцев назад +1

      for me its not about cheating but the sick mentality that being skinny at all cost is more important than health. Ozempic is not some magical pill that burns fat and makes you fit. It's a medication for diabetes and one of the side effects is extreme loss of appetite and it causes nausea and many other side effects that harm the body. So it makes no sense that slightly overweight or chubby people steal this strong drug from people that actually need it to survive. I am sure diabetic people would prefer to live without these side effects if possible but they can't choose this life. If weight gain is caused by a mental thing or trauma, then the right way to go about it is therapy. If its a habit, medicine won't be the solution because you will get fat again the moment you stop with the treatment.

      Keto is not a good option for longterm weightloss because it messes with your metabolism... Try to focus on high protein and high fibre food and eat your carbs too. There are many ways to exercise so if you don't like the gym, maybe try going for longer walks or maybe go swimming or dancing. Anything is Ok as long as you move your body. The hype about weightloss medication is honestly disgusting. There is a reason why only extreme obese people are allowed to take them. the side effects are really bad and not worth it if your life is not at risk because of your weight.

      @@greenytaddictYou are correct. I think ( IMHO) , I think because of these celebrities are willing to pay top dollar$$ for this medicine. That the pharmaceutical companies rather get cash $$ for it then to give to those who really need and they don't want to give it out for discount price. They rather get the cash $$ instead of giving it to those who REALLY needs it. These pharmaceutical are all about the old mighty $$$! They DON'T care who needs for health reasons IMHO. As you work in doctors office you seen it all, and I know it's got to be frustrating for you all that your patients that needs certain medicines for they illnesses and can't get it. Hello FumiNation.
    Sister Oprah...... babygirl..... that lavender/ purple themed outfits..... DIVINE!!!!! YOU hear me.......as the kids say, " No crumbs!!"
    I have to say it. And I'm going to repeat myself. I have to say it.
    Years ago, when it looked like Oprah had lost weight; I was feeling especially connected to her; like yeah girl, come into your greatness.
    She was sooo empowering and powerful. She believed and I believed in her.
    But as the years went on, I have to say I felt very differently about her image, as it showed me there was something off about her life that wasn't meshing with her obvious television success.
    In this current iteration, so many years later in her life, THIS is the body, I feel, wrongly or rightly, should've been the BODY of the mogul in her younger years on television.
    The fatter, thicker Oprah is better suited for the older Oprah. Having said that, always happy/ inspired by how she's navigating now in her public life.

    Nobody should be shamed for taking a “short cut” or the “easy” way out.
    My case is the extreme opposite. I was super underweight all my adult life (45kgs) and couldn’t put on weight no matter how much I tried. I took an drug meant for starving children in Africa (it gives you appetite but also slows down the metabolism) - it’s called Apetamine.
    In 3 months I had put on 10kgs.
    Felt heavy in that weight so now I maintain 50kgs to 52kgs at most.
    I’m so happy I did it.

      @Ubhntu3789 9 месяцев назад

      @@joywands1970 yes. Weak children due to starvation can’t eat normally and need extreme weight gain. So the med is to make them hungry and also slow down the metabolism. It’s also given to anorexic patients who can’t eat normally or put on weight normally.
      This drug is highly “abused” for weight gain by people who have high metabolism.
      After spending over $6k on dietician, doctors etc only Apetamine worked. If someone is struggling with weight gain, I’d advice them to get it.
