Awesome to see someone go step beyond and add ceramic coating to the plastic trim. There is so much on modern SUVs and trucks that its a must! Proper video 🙌
Most people talk about the durability of paint coatings. It would be interesting to hear more about how the glass and trim coatings hold up in the next 6-8 months. Great video as always man!
I agree man! I look at the glass and trim stuff as more of a once a year maintenance experience. I find it softens the blow when they fail and creates better habits. Thank you though!

@@ChromaticGarageis there a full list of all the products you used in the video? Towels, ceramic coat, trim coating etc? I want to do this same process at home😊
I try to avoid polishing or paint correction unless it's a supercar. and customer wants and pays for it. I'd rather save time charge less and coat and be done with the job asap so I focus on only coating brand new cars.. full wash and decon then panel prep and coat. Polish only increases the gloss. I have never encountered coating lasting less because paint wasn't polished great video and work on your truck 💪
Awesome video, love the breakdown into simplicity. Are there any coatings you recommend that would do the entire vehicle in one swoop? Or are the separate glass / trim coatings really a must. Side note, it is so refreshing to read through comments on a video with a new Tacoma in it and not see a single keyboard warrior bashing the truck. Thanks for fending off the drama at the beginning.
Thanks Chris! There are a few coatings that are able to go on everything and quite frankly you could put a paint coating on anything as the chemical makeup isn’t very different. However id like to believe that if a company is making very very specific coatings for different substrates that there will be atleast some difference/benefit
Congrats on the new ride! looks beautiful. I need to get the smaller rupees polishers at some point. Didn't have it the first time I did my car and I noticed a bunch of small areas that I thought I got, but missed which is super annoying but I guess that's the learning process. Super helpful video as always.
Hey Mike...happy to see you`re back. I hope you enjoyned Bavaria.........I am a very big Fan of Koch Chemie Products, 98 % of my stuff is KC. But wow... the red polish ( 8 or 9 ) with a microfibre pad on a new car ist the biggest gun you can load...the yellow ( 6 ) is enough haze 😅 awsome job dude, very cool car......good to see you are back. Greetings from Bavaria.....
Thanks Alex! I have only done about 6 cars with the Koch Chemie stuff so far but I am in love. It’s a lot of fun to finally move on from griots fast correcting cream. It’s still incredible but new products are fun!
Love the new Tacoma! This video comes just in time for me. I have a 2020 Tacoma and It came with factory installed PPF that is failing...dirt under all the edges at 28k 😓 I will be removing all the PPF and giving it a ceramic coating very soon so thanks for the tutorial 👏

YES you finally got a mic! It sounds so good man! Your information and presentation about coatings is on point, you do coatings the same way I do! The New Tacoma is clean, so what's the first mod? 😆
Since you´re using a Gyeon coating, have you ever tried the Gyeon Primer polish? They advise to use it as last step before coating to create a optimal bond, so you don´t have to polish it out completely and don´t need the last IPA wipe before coating, so especially for difficult paint like gloss black it makes things a lot easier. I only used it once so far, but so far i´m liking the result and seems to improve the durability, or at least not hurt it in any way giving the lack of a sample size.
Gonna try this exact combo on my new to me 04 v8 4Runner I got last week! I’ve installed a ton of coatings but have never put one on any of my cars, I’ve always just used P&S defender 😭

Aluminum wheels are very tough as aluminum is almost always in a state of oxidization which coatings don’t react well too. The same thing happens on stainless steel wheel lips. The only thing you can really do is keep applying
1. When you use microfibre pads the paint is usually hammered, which obviously isn't the case. 2. You should start with the least aggressive approach. Ex medium compound from Koch Chemie with a medium foam pad. Theoretically that should've get the job done judging by the way this paint looks.

@@ChromaticGarageI’m also a detailer as a side thing though. My day job pays more. Toyota paint really isn’t the best. It’s the same on these new gen tacomas. Trucks don’t need a ceramic coat. It’s a waste. That being said, if my customer wants it I won’t say no.
Question, what are your top three wheel & tire cleaners? Glad your back! As you may know, Toyota/Lexus has been the most reliable auto brand. My daughter just bought new Grand Highlander with the 4 cyl. turbo, very impressive. And I did coat it with Phoenix E.O.D. Kronos, first experience. Now will see on longevity?
That’s awesome man! Excited to see how these new engines perform. I pretty much only use a combo of iron X and brake buster. I really also enjoy Gyeon wheel cleaner but really have only used it when it’s sent to me. Kinda expensive
Dude, did you seriously do all of that in one day!? Admit it.. You have multiple Elton John shirts and multiple pairs of corduroy parachute pants... That would have taken me 2-3 days minimum, but I also have two small children. I've also never corrected a brand new car; I guess it just required a quick once-over with the compound and polish? Either way, great work, as always.
Haha this actually took over a month and I can’t tell ya why! But yeah ideally just a once over with a single step product would be good for most people. However if the dealer does detail the vehicle you may be required to be much more aggressive in the correction area
Totally understandable if you don’t want to respond to this, but I’m curious. I’ve recently acquired a 1989 Mazda Miata, car is full blown collectors with zero wear and tear. Looks nearly brand new, aside from some swirls in the clear coat from the elderly gentleman who, and I quote “Would detail it after every stop in the car.” So as you can imagine, it’s not bad but it could be great. Only thing is I’m a little nervous to do any kind of polishing or paint work as I know the Miata is a relatively cheap paint and is quite thin. Any advice for getting it to ceramic coat stage without harming its delicate 34 year old paint? Color is red if that’s important at all. Thanks!
