Jumped back into the game recently & I appreciate all your old & new videos on this beloved game bro. So helpful. For that, the notification bell has been clicked
I may have already known all of these, but it’s cool to see you raising awareness for them. Anyway, here are some life hacks I use: 1. Set your quick mana hotkey to right click, which lets you basically have a mana flower without consuming an accessory slot (only one magic weapon has a special right click ability, and it’s utterly trash.) 2. ACTUALLY USE THE FACT THAT SUMMONER IS NOT BOUND TO ONE CLASS LIKE THE OTHERS. My god people, you can’t call summoner trash if you clearly don’t know how to play it. Red himself said that summoner was balanced around the fact that you can use both a swarm of minions AND a weapon. 3. Menacing and Lucky are both a 4% increase to your dps, so when reforging for menacing, treat lucky identically unless you use summons.
When it comes to the Wall of Flesh, I personally prefer to build a long railway. They're easier to build if you keep your mouse in the right place and the minecart gives to a fairly consistent speed so you can keep the Wall of Flesh at a constant distance away from you as much as possible. Another advantage to making railways is it's very easy to get up to make a skybridge with rails. I also use rails for my skybridges too.
Another nice thing about using planter boxes to build bridges is that liquids (including lava) will go through them without removing them. So if you use planter boxes to build a hellbridge (for WoF farming or whatever) you can easily bomb blocks above it to make some more room if needed and if there is any lava stored up there it will just flow through. Also, if one wants to farm lihzard power cells before killing plantera it is easy even in pre-hardmode world even without entering the temple. If there is an alcove in the jungle temple before the door the PC can make lihzards and flying snakes to spawn by standing in front of temple wall outside the door. Some of them will spawn outside the temple and can be easily taken care of with a lava trap. By equipping a treasure magnet the PC can then easily collect the drops from the alcove below. I also increased the effectiviness of this by pouring lava inside the temple using bottomless lava bucket (you can do that from outside the door) so that any lihzards and flying snakes spawning inside the temple would quickly die. Got absolutely loads of power cells and solar tablet fragments. Oh, and I also found a nice easy AFK mimic farm netting lots of mimics and around 10 platinum/hour.
These tips are really useful. Though I know the Water Walking Potion, I didn't use that buff potion so much. Now I see this is helpful when I feel like I am prepared to fight the Wall of Flesh boss (in vanilla and modded worlds). :) I hope the devs of Terraria will polish out the content of 1.4 Journey's End Update until 2020's Summer.
I'm So Excited For Terraria Journey's End, because We All Know, When It Comes Out, It's Gonna Get An overhaul Mod. And When That Comes Out, Journey's End Will Make Terraria Better Than Before. Better Than Ever!
Tip* if you want to reforge your weapon or accessories but you dont have much gold just save the game log in then turn off the auto save then set your spawn near the goblin tinkerer then reforge and if its bad and you dont have money close the game and dont save but make sure to save before doing this or else things you did before you do this trick will be gone what will happen is when you loged in and reforged, when you closed the game without saving the reforging you did wont be saved, meaning you will get your money back and the old modifier so contenue doing this until you get the modifier you want :D
If you are lucky enough I like to use Lava waders, and would recommend using an obsidian alongside water walking. As I have found the hard way...accidents do happen. These videos are real helpful. Thank you Chippy.
Chippy: so this next life hack is gonna allow you to basically drain a very large pool of water, pretty much instantaneously. Super Absorbant Sponge: *Am I a joke to you?*
The water walking one is actually a life saver. Cant believe I never thought of that. I've had so many expert playthroughs I've burnt out on right before wall of flesh because of the annoyance of a hellbridge.
A tip regarding summon damage- vanilla summons will all determine their damage on initial summon, but *not all modded summons will.* Some recalculate as they go, some will 'reset' when your damage changes, etc. Do not assume that'll work for everything!
So...I saw this video, and the first thing I thought..."Hmm...that's a neat world he did the into in..." so naturally, I made a replica, by hand, in an un-modded 1.4 journey mode world...based off of the first 42 seconds of this video... Keep it up Chip!!
I've been away from the game for like 3 years so imagine my surprise when a few weeks ago I found out PS4 finally got 1.3 2 years ago.. I started a brand new file recently to get reaquainted with the game rather than going to my old file that was up to Duke Fisheron
#1 QueenB: Fighting her in her own biome is actually fairly easy with wings/a hook/double jump. At least for me she always rushed from left to right and back, so if you constantly jump over her (after a few times) she will fly inside her biome and stay there for a bit (enough time to kill her with fairly good equipment). #2 Getting into the jungle temple: I honestly prefer to take the pickaxe with me, that's what the piggy bank and void bag are there for, right? XD #3 Arena building: ;-; wish I would have known that sooner. #4 Equipment change for more dmg: For starters very good, but I think the impact will become less valuable the more endgame gear you have. #5 Water draining: Pretty cool tho #6 Golem arena: Am I the only one that was disappoint by how easy golem is compared to Plantera? QwQ But a good tip if you struggle with the arena. #7 Lavawalking: Ye.. that's why I got wings and the tera boots xD
I have one You can save yourself from fall damage with the grappling hook. When you are in the early game and dont have any wings or lucky horse shoes then you might take fall damage because an enemy hit you off of something or you’re just careless. But you can use a grappling hook when you are about to hit the ground to save yourself from a potential death or take damage. Keep in mind that the grappling is a little faster when going straight down then you falling
Chippy you pronounced my name wrong again, but I'm glad you shown people how to make a drain. Also you should have done it to the ocean instead of a small pond.
@@theFeedJ You kind of can't. Lava takes priority over all other liquids so even if you tried to do the same thing with water and lava swapped it would just delete the water. The best thing you can do to remove a large amount of lava is to pump it somewhere else. You could pump it into an obsidian generator and get rid of it that way.
Vis did they remove the ability to get rid of it with sand? Cause I remember being able to cover the lava with sand and then quit to menu to remove all of it
I like when people build hellbridges out of dirt in Community survivals. It's a giant garden for Blinkroot, which just happens to be one of the ingredients for Spelunker Potion (and some others).
Honestly the water walking potion was a mind blower. For whatever reason I've had it in my head for years that it wouldn't work on lava and as such if I couldn't have the lava waders made, I just built a bridge. Now that said I always built mine out of ash block so it doubled as a passive fireweed farm, but really I never used it that much. So many freaking hours of my life spent building stupid bridges..
For Quality Of Life Mods(Mods that aren't for Gameplay) here are some good ones: Magic Storage Recipe Browser Which Mod Is This From Yet Another Boss Healthbar Boss Cursor Omniswing Veinminer Imksushi's Mod LuiAFK Fargo's Mutant Mod Weapons Out AlchemistNPC Lite MaxStackPlus
Thorium as it's a pretty easy beginners mod that has a lot of content, maybe a recipe finder mod so he can search up crafting recipes whenever he needs to and the boss checklist mod so he has a general idea of what order he should be defeating the boss's in. I feel like calamity mod is a bit too much for someone new to terraria mods. Also Exotic Criminal wrote a nice list of quality of life mods. Hope this helped :)
Extending the summoning hack: You can seriously pump up the damage of your minions with a full reconfigure before summoning them. The wiki page on summoning weapons has a routine for max power, but even if you're not a capital-S Summoner, you can switch to a summoning armor set as well as swapping in accessories. It's not just the modifiers, there are several accessories that boost summoning damage or "all damage", and it all lives on in your minion. And once you have a Bewitching Table, you can get *two* beefed up minions, and keep them as long as you remember to refresh the buff every 10 minutes. My general routine is: B-table, Food, Wrath potion, various accessories forged to Menacing (basically the best I have from the accessories listed on the wiki), and best summoning armor I have (currently Tiki), summon, and then go back to my regular loadout. And take the staff off the hotbar, so I don't accidentally re-summon them later. ;-)
Yes, you can have Life Hacks in Games... the Character has a Life too... as long as the HPs is above 0. :P Is there any Life Hack for defeating WoF in Expert Mode with a Flamarang? (Aside from Water Walking Potion use?)
This is one game hack I use. So sometimes the traveling merchant will have these things called team blocks and platforms and the free so you can get multiple stacks of them and use them for building and traveling. So now you can save your wood and stone for crafting stuff instead of using them to build. Edit: console only right now
Toby Nguyen Something like that, it gets quite expensive in mass quantities. I’m also pretty sure that they are planning on changing the cost of the things on console to what’s on PC.
On the flip side, if you use frostspark boots and royal gel and make your hellbridge out of ice, you won't have to worry about lava slimes being a threat, you get extra speed on the ice for expert wof, and once the hallow takes over your ice bridge, you can easily run along it and farm the crystals on it
Whoa the planter box thing was super new to me. I usually just spam my hook diagonally downward to creep forward quickly as i'm building platforms so that I never accidentally create stairs but its a slower process. WATER REMOVAL, the liquid physics glitch can be super useful for creating biomes, farms, and arena but in exploration and building this is a life saver holy crap For the WoF fight I sometimes use potions but what I usually do is go through and break the walls of buildings and do some slight terraforming so i can actually run because expert mode is cruel and being stopped for a few seconds by an obstruction is lethal...also losing all the potions I prepped sucks too...
I usually dont build the bridge in the underworld, if you stack jump items (cloud in a bottle, tsunami in a bottle, rocket boots, etc) it usually works fairly well. Water walking potion on top of that is a bonus
One thing about building a hell bridge though is if you build it out of Ash, you will get a *ton* of those fire herbs if you go back down there a few game-days after you beat the WoF, lol. And it would kinda stink if your water walking buff wore off in the middle of the fight or something if you weren't doing enough DPS to actually kill the wall before the thing wore off. Also, I don't like blowing 2p on Leaf Wings, so after killing the Destroyer, I usually go down to the Underworld to get a Fire Feather (unless I get lucky with rain and get an Ice feather instead) and those towers are really, *really* nice for safely fighting the Red Devils because they hit like Mack Trucks (150-170 damage in _Normal_ mode!).
Thanks for 5 years of amazing videos James! I have been watching your videos since how to make obsidian *wink wink* Let's hope for many moree years of amazing content!
How to make a bridge in hell like a pro: get frostspark boots build the bridge out of ice only remove at least 5 blocks of ash under all of the ice optional: make another row to make a tunnel and use a weapon that goes through walls, remember the ash block removal from top as well This will make you fast enough to escape the wall, it will stop the bottom eye from ever hurting you since it only goes on top of the ash blocks and not anything else. If you make a tunnel you keep yourself save from the top eyes lasers which only leaves the hungry's, leeches and the mouth part to deal with. On top of that when entering hardmode some of the ice will turn hallowed allowiong for a pretty good crystal farmming spot. I'd suggest adding walls into the tunnel as well sp mobs don't spawn in your way.
I've always fought the Wall of Flesh using that method. The simple fact is that the "Hell parkour" method of fighting it is just way more fun. It adds an extra layer to the encounter so it isn't just a run-'n'-gun fight.
I prefer building the bridge in the underworld because I prefer a level surface to fight the WoF on. To prevent lava slime damage, use obsidian platforms. Those aren't destroyed by lava, if I recall correctly. To get the obsidian you need, just make an infinite obsidian generator (plenty of viable designs).
The water walking is good though I build stone bridges mainly to see where my underground hallow and crimson/corruption is to kill king slimes for souls of night/light respectively but good ideas. Will definitely be attempting these in a future playthru
That last tip is helpful and all, but if you've got my luck with generating hell in your world, it's not gonna do much good if there's just huge piles of ash in the way that just constantly block my shots. I'll just stick to my platform. Plus it gives me an excuse to veinmine huge chunks of hell out (which is the most satisfying thing ever) hehe
Goddess that castle that was at the begining of the game that you showcase was astonishing. Also is it me or i find it odd to having such a far and zoomed out game? It's the same with starbound watching its videos and it's bizzare for me to viewing them as the action and all is so far out. But I am still glad of seeing you whenever I can Mr chippy!
I know some hacks I've learnt myself. When hardmode happens you can use the underworld to travel and not get killed by hardmode enemy's on the surface You can also find many hardmode ores in the underworld. The dart rifle or dart pistol is a bit more powerful than ranged weapons in the early hardmode. The grappling hook can remove fall damage when you time it right. The demon scythe can protect you from annoying hell bats in the underworld. The mechanical glove is better than the fire gauntlet with more damage for melee.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this one, but if you place a torch, banner, or anything that can be walked past you can protect your building during a blood moon since zombies and the like won't be able to open your door inwards.

Chippy: all the water is gone, cool right!
Me: *still seeing water*
Also me: LIAR!
SozialUmfang GD you are bad at jokes.
@@bryanbryan6108 not a joke
Comet 1310 it’s pretty clearly a joke
Just wanted to thank you for making these videos. I've started playing Terraria with the 1.4 release and these tips are going to be very useful.
Haven't built a bridge in hell in years, water walking potions are a blessings
Tip* if you want to reforge your weapon or accessories but you dont have much gold just save the game log in then turn off the auto save then set your spawn near the goblin tinkerer then reforge and if its bad and you dont have money close the game and dont save but make sure to save before doing this or else things you did before you do this trick will be gone what will happen is when you loged in and reforged, when you closed the game without saving the reforging you did wont be saved, meaning you will get your money back and the old modifier so contenue doing this until you get the modifier you want :D
6:29
Chippy: see! It's all gone.
*Me see a little of water on the left*
Me: you were saying?
If you are lucky enough I like to use Lava waders, and would recommend using an obsidian alongside water walking. As I have found the hard way...accidents do happen. These videos are real helpful. Thank you Chippy.
Chippy: so this next life hack is gonna allow you to basically drain a very large pool of water, pretty much instantaneously.
Super Absorbant Sponge: *Am I a joke to you?*
To be fair, the sponge requires much more effort to get than draining the water. But hey, if you got it go nuts.
DeltaFiend lol
I love crab bar! They’re funny, informative, and have entertaining videos!
Last time i was this early, Chippy did a vanilla class playthrough.
Marc Gilbert so you haven’t been early in a while then have you lol
Haribo 42 same ;-;😢😅
Lol
Chippy is my favorite gaming youtuber right now probably because when he plays terraria, he has the same mindset as me. Your epic chippy
7:51 How he says "some" actuators but literally every block has them.
The water walking one is actually a life saver. Cant believe I never thought of that. I've had so many expert playthroughs I've burnt out on right before wall of flesh because of the annoyance of a hellbridge.
Queen bee gets like 800% faster when she's on the surface
A tip regarding summon damage- vanilla summons will all determine their damage on initial summon, but *not all modded summons will.* Some recalculate as they go, some will 'reset' when your damage changes, etc. Do not assume that'll work for everything!
That planter hack is game changing. I hate making bridges.
It’s getting 1.3.5 soon though
ChippyGaming yeah and it’s on 1.3.4 at the moment. It’s great
Its at 1.4 THE END Now ,♥️
PS4 (or console for that matter and mobile) hasn't got 1.4 yet idiot.
XD
#3 Arena building: ;-; wish I would have known that sooner.
#4 Equipment change for more dmg: For starters very good, but I think the impact will become less valuable the more endgame gear you have.
#5 Water draining: Pretty cool tho
#6 Golem arena: Am I the only one that was disappoint by how easy golem is compared to Plantera? QwQ But a good tip if you struggle with the arena.
#7 Lavawalking: Ye.. that's why I got wings and the tera boots xD
Life hack: Subbing to Chippy gives you and infinite amount of Terra Blades.
Night niro woah no way!?
Lol
But I've subbed years ago and it's not true.
@@abadgurl2010 wow how big brain of you to realize that this wasn't true! *absolute Einstein*
I have one
You can save yourself from fall damage with the grappling hook.
3:22 but i know how to put platform straight
Right know I'm just re-watching all your videos..
Keep them up please
How about this: when fishing before hard mode do not open any crate, and when you'll be in hardmode open them all to get a lot of hardmode ores.
@Endobyte what? Nooooo
I like how all of these are common sense LOL thanks man.!
Chippy gaming: gives a life hack about platforms
Me: *laughs in console*
Chippy you pronounced my name wrong again, but I'm glad you shown people how to make a drain. Also you should have done it to the ocean instead of a small pond.
That would be an incredible sight to see. Just the ocean, gone in an instant.
@@VampireJester That's what happens if you build a drain with a chest and bucket of lava just like he showed in this video.
How do you drain lava
Where is the 2nd part of that adventure map?
This videos starting area is a birthday present for him if you thought that was an adventure map
Ultra Excalibur hello
@@themineballoner3652 I mean the one he did recently and never finished
@@condorcircus323 Hi
@@ultraexcalibur1728 oh ok than
Honestly the water walking potion was a mind blower.
Chippy will you do a collab with Tea in the future?
I doubt it
if there is a way we could make it work, sure! I could honestly take some lessons from him on editing because his videos are top notch
I would love to see that :D
@@ChippyGaming Definitely! The way he does showcases is smooth and spot on!
I'd very much like to see a collab with you both :)
What, like the drink? 2 Sugars please milk not to strong
Just a heads up, for the queen bee hack, she becomes enraged now, when took out of the jungle biome. So try building your areana in the jungle :/
Hey chip im playing with my friend and he has never played with mods, what mods should we play first i feel like the fargos souls mod
Calamity is good. Lui afk mod is good for convenience. Elements awoken and thorium are great mods too.
Clamaty
For Quality Of Life Mods(Mods that aren't for Gameplay) here are some good ones:
Magic Storage
Recipe Browser
Which Mod Is This From
Yet Another Boss Healthbar
Boss Cursor
Omniswing
Veinminer
Imksushi's Mod
LuiAFK
Fargo's Mutant Mod
Weapons Out
AlchemistNPC Lite
MaxStackPlus

Is there any Life Hack for defeating WoF in Expert Mode with a Flamarang? (Aside from Water Walking Potion use?)
This is one game hack I use. So sometimes the traveling merchant will have these things called team blocks and platforms and the free so you can get multiple stacks of them and use them for building and traveling. So now you can save your wood and stone for crafting stuff instead of using them to build.
Edit: console only right now
Lava proof?
Rustic Playz Note: This is only for console, on the PC version, it does cost money.
@@Thebes yes. If I remember it's like 1 silver?
Toby Nguyen Something like that, it gets quite expensive in mass quantities. I’m also pretty sure that they are planning on changing the cost of the things on console to what’s on PC.
@@Thebes hmm
"Some" Actuators.
"Some".

My thoughts exactly bruh.
You really don't know how long I've been waiting for this.
“Queen bee.” “His.” *”queen bee.” “His.”*
Oh ouch
Queen bee is trans.
Are you a goddamn transphobic?
On the flip side, if you use frostspark boots and royal gel and make your hellbridge out of ice, you won't have to worry about lava slimes being a threat, you get extra speed on the ice for expert wof, and once the hallow takes over your ice bridge, you can easily run along it and farm the crystals on it
The only life hack you need is "git gud"
Me at 6:30: Are u telling me I can drain the ocean!
My Brain: Oh boy that’ll be fun
1:18 wouldn't the queen bee just despawn?
Because she doesn't has spawned
Whoa the planter box thing was super new to me. I usually just spam my hook diagonally downward to creep forward quickly as i'm building platforms so that I never accidentally create stairs but its a slower process.
WATER REMOVAL, the liquid physics glitch can be super useful for creating biomes, farms, and arena but in exploration and building this is a life saver holy crap
For the WoF fight I sometimes use potions but what I usually do is go through and break the walls of buildings and do some slight terraforming so i can actually run because expert mode is cruel and being stopped for a few seconds by an obstruction is lethal...also losing all the potions I prepped sucks too...
yo i like that chippyscouch guy better than this cHiPpYgAmInG doode
azn yeah same
I usually dont build the bridge in the underworld, if you stack jump items (cloud in a bottle, tsunami in a bottle, rocket boots, etc) it usually works fairly well. Water walking potion on top of that is a bonus
300 hours on terraria and I didn't know about the planter box platforms...also nice advice on the hellbridge!
So happy to see you upload again please keep uploading terraria
Donagh Callaghan he’s uploaded consistently all the time for the past like 5 years or something. You made it sound like he had a massive break lol
Haribo 42 yeah I’m kinda reatarded
Lol
How to make a bridge in hell like a pro:
get frostspark boots
build the bridge out of ice only
remove at least 5 blocks of ash under all of the ice
optional: make another row to make a tunnel and use a weapon that goes through walls, remember the ash block removal from top as well
This will make you fast enough to escape the wall, it will stop the bottom eye from ever hurting you since it only goes on top of the ash blocks and not anything else.
You can also use plant boxes for growing your plants on because you can't destroy them with weapons
A tip for Chippy: Get used to the Shift button, and use 1 and 2 slots for something more usefull!
Thank you Chippy/James for the tips.
When hardmode happens you can use the underworld to travel and not get killed by hardmode enemy's on the surface
You can also find many hardmode ores in the underworld.
I'm on my first playthrough and was dreading building a giant bridge in he'll you just saved me so much time
9:15 I actually used water walking pots my first WOF fight because I thought making a huge bridge is just... Too much hastle .
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this one, but if you place a torch, banner, or anything that can be walked past you can protect your building during a blood moon since zombies and the like won't be able to open your door inwards.
Do you place it inside or outside the door?
