  • Jason Kidd may or may not have gotten his coach fired when he was with the New Jersey Nets. We'll leave that up to your judgment. He DEFINITELY had beef with coaches, though, and carried it with him through several different stops as an NBA player.

As a diehard Nets fan the three year run of Kidd and Kenyon Martin doesn’t get enough retrospective attention outside of NJ. Those teams are legendary here and the stories, from the turnaround, to the beefs with ownership, the playoff dominance, the off-court dramas, the move and more have never been fully mined. Obviously biased, but I think that could make for a hell of an interesting doc.

A pretty weird dichotomy how one of the most unselfish, prototypical PG’s in NBA history, who made everyone on his team better as a floor general everywhere he went, could also seemingly carry himself in such a selfish, almost toxic like manner off the court and within the organization. It’s kinda funny that LeBron has that reputation given that the only Coach who was fired undeservedly (with his involvement) was Vogel, and he still had clear issues. Namely that he refused to actually change his offensive strategy at all, which is a common problem for him (one one team that was ever top 10 in Offensive Rating in his entire career). Even with Durant, Beal, and Booker, he’s barely to top ten now with the Suns, and wasn’t for most of the year.
Blatt was a complete idiot, Brown was fired after LeBron was already a FA, and Paul Silas was fired by Dan Gilbert right after he bought the Cavs, because Gilbert is a racist fool. Lue outright left partway through 2019 after going winless and proving he couldn’t handle a rebuild, when LeBron was already gone.
Idk, as a lifelong Cavs fan who has seen LeBron come and go for his whole career, it seems more like a post-hoc media narrative than anything of substance.

I'm honestly not sure if Billy and George were genuinely beefing, or if it was all just marketing and publicity.

Kidd is a Bay Area and NBA Legend but an average coach. I think he would be a better college coach. And this is the best narrator, keep him for all the videos.

From what I recall, Capanelli was overheard berating a player in the team room by the AD, and that was the turning point. Kidd wasn't the player in that case.

I'll be charitable assuming they got that headline from somewhere else and didn't make it up themselves, still ridiculous they even put it into the video just since it's funny in an ironic way Kidd could be in the same position as the coaches he beefed with were.

When the origin story of Jason Kidd being a "Coach Killer" dates back to college that's something that can't be denied and made worse when family speaks up on his behalf.

I think it had more to do with him knowing it would be an all time weak move. 2nd in MVP votes to lead his team to the finals and then join the team and player that beat him for both a championship and MVP? Would've been as bad as KD to the Warriors. Edit: He is on record saying he regrets not doing it if that means anything.

    1. Shaq bought his doctorate degree. The Duality of Humor and Aggression in Leadership Styles. Ain't no way shaq ever study or read a book. Or wrote a thesis paper 😂😂😂
    2. Hide your girlfriend, wife and daughter when Derrick fisher enters the room.
    3. Cover your CUP while kidd is around you.

It is good to see that that long ago Kidd was thrown out due to domestic violence charges. There should be no room for that kind of behaviour and violence in professional sports. One and done.
