Golf carts aren't just for golfing anymore and appear to be everywhere, but driving them off the links comes with potentially serious hazards. The vehicles may look sturdy fun, but they can be perilous if you're not careful. In startling videos, some knuckleheads can be seen using them to smash into their buddies. That's exactly why three wheeled vehicles with one wheel in the front were banned in the first place because of the drastically increased likelihood of getting into accidents. But they can do is make current golf cart design illegal and legalize a modified version which is much more unlikely to flip over as well as having an annoying siren going off if you don't have the seat belt on drastically improving safety

When I was around 6, my dad let me drive one of these when he was at a driving range. My dad was the one who was controlling the pedals, but I was controlling the wheel. I nearly got myself either seriously hurt or possibly even killed when I accidentally lost control of the wheel, (keep in mind I was 6) and barely missed a hill straight into a highway, and instead my dad just hit the brakes. I honestly don’t know what could have happened if he hadn’t done that, and after watching this video and seeing that poor, poor child, I couldn’t help but think “what if that was me?”
That's an impressive dad. I admire his dedication and devotion to his son.

When I was a kid back in Mexico! My parents let me build a horse out of a old broken broom. That’s horse was my world I would ride everywhere. When we moved to the states I was shocked to see what kids my age were riding and playing with, I told my parents I wanted to do the same which it was to ride with them and they turned my head hard with a smack and a hard NO! Kids had no business operating motorized vehicles. I later learned the value of those lessons, everything in time.

I grew up in Kissimmee Florida, I lived in a gated subdivision that my friend and I would ride his Golf Cart around the neighborhood. I will admit as teens we were very reckless with it as we would purposely take turns hard so we could get it on two wheels, and one time we did it too hard causing both of us to crash and got pretty hurt. We stopped being crazy with it after that incident.

Here in Belgium it's kinda illegal to drive a golf cart on public roads for that reason.
I wish a speedy recovery for all those who have been affect by incidents involving golf carts.
It is illegal in the states to for most places. However some areas have allowed it particularly in retirement communities.

Golf carts should have a built in cap speed of 10 - 15. Because obviously it is being used irresponsibly. Just like televisions. the manufacturer can set the decibels so the volume on high can only be heard so much.

I'm a dad. There's no way I would ever let my young child operate such a large fast moving vehicle.
My first child had an electric vehicle. It was so slow we had to slow down our walking to walk beside him as we strolled through the park. It was so light I easily carried it up stairs to our apartment.
What kind of dad lets a small child freely operate a 1,000 pound golf cart that can go the speed of an olympic sprinter??? Worse even, to watch as the child does donuts on a paved surface wearing no protective gear!!! The father should have been arrested.

Currently, my youngest kids correctly wear helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads in order to use their non-powered toy push scooters 🛴, and we watch them attentively as they do so at a park on a flat path made for such scooter fun.
I do such because any dad should be aware of the dangers posed by things. One of the chief responsibilities of a parent is to recognize and keep your child from unacceptably high risk. Even governments recognize this fact to the degree that if a parent fails in this regard, they can be charged with child endangerment.
I simply felt outrage at him saying "to be the best dad." If I ever failed my child to the degree that he did because of irresponsible parenting so that they will never be even close to leading the full life they once could have led, I would never again use the phrase "best dad" in reference to myself. I would literally gag if I tried to say the words "best dad." I would say my goal was to never again fail my child as a father.

the situation is so bad, every golf cart not for street use has a speed limiter on it, the cart will not accelerate beyond 7mph, and if driving downhill past it, the motor will actually run in reverse to throttle the speed, on golf courses with GPS enabled carts, the computer actually throttles or stops the cart from working if it is driven in a no cart zone

i think they should add mandatory sensors on the cart that stop the cart from working if its not wired, malfunctioning, or if it detects improper use such as something being pushed by the bumpers or its tilt is too dangerous, then have a license system to remove the restrictions if the driver is able to pass a professional driver road test (no written test prior) and complete driving school for sports driving
