- We bought an unfinished project a while back, a Volvo 240 with a 1JZ twin turbo engine. Now it's time to get it started.

if anyone not old enough to remember 1986 is wondering how the flying f a volvo could win the ATCC, it was a simple matter of power to weight ratio. the international regulations stipulated a cars minimum weight on a sliding scale of engine capacity, turbocharged and supercharged cars had an inadequate 'turbo multiplication factor' of 1.4. The 370 HP turbocharged volvo had a displacement of 2127cc x 1.4 = 2978 putting it in the under 3 litre class which had a minimum weight of 1060 kg and a p-w ratio of .35, whereas the 420 HP Commodore 4.9 litre was in the 4500-5000 class which had a minimum weight of 1325 Kg and a p-w ratio of .31. the ATCC were short sprint races, and the heavier class cars such as the commodore and mustang mostly lost due to tyre degredation from the heavier minimum weight

EL falcon sway bars fit the front of these with a spacer, cheap upgrade and they are lower to clear the sump
