Was I the only one waiting for the drill press to catch and take fingers off? Use a clamp on a piece that big mate, all it takes is that hole saw to catch and twang
Pro tip: pull the lid off a pizza box and slide up against the radiator when you work near it to prevent damaging the fins easily.
Bring on the big single!! At least it runs , and didn't go bang.
easy access oil changer.
The Trollvo is the reason I subscribed.
Thanks for watching
Such a car the 240! You put that beast under the hood and you still have enough space to work on it without dismount half engine. Great job guys!
I really enjoy watching this series, great learning for me.
Isn't this the gift that keeps on giving
This is my favourite car on RUclips. Not only is it my dream car but I'm so glad you didn't ditch it when it needed stuff. Seriously, thank you for preserving.
We're over the hump, it'll just keep getting better now.
The saga continues Scotty, doesn't stop fighting back mate does it!!
There's a Volvo 850R in the shop next to it👍👍👍
FWIW the 240 heater cores rarely leak - they're all-copper construction. The bulkhead fitting on the firewall sometimes rusts a bit, STS Machining over in the US sell a nice stainless replacement
You're the king of patience.... great job man!
She lives !! Sorta :D good effort guys ! Let's see this thing make some serious grunt !
I'm getting a bit philosophical here, but god dammit the internet makes the world a smaller place. I'm sitting here in Sweden, giggling along with a beer in hand in the afternoon (or arvo, as y'all upside down people refere to it). Imagine having to order DVD:s instead like back in the days, I would've never even gotten in contact with this content.
Great stuff, peace out.
Thanks for watching
Eternal optimist Scotty, I like it.
LOL More classic butcher fab’ work! Love it!
Nice work Scotty! Shame the twins weren't playing bingo. At least the fix is pretty straight-forward!
HA - if only all the Volvos I had were powered like this. Neato.
Ppl are getting 1000hp out of b230 engines that were stock in these volvos so why? ^^
@@graffzon I ask that question often lol and just commented the same.
@@tony66au yh some of the Most bulletproof engines out there. Seen a bunch here in sweden with 5-600hp n stock rods and 750hp+ on stock cranks. Not to mention that ppl here use the m90 trans from 940 turbo n weld 3rd and know ppl who have used them pretty much stock with insane hp numbers. Stock 1031 940 turbo axles are dana 30's that Volvo got the license to copy as well, Can use em up til quite high hp numbers.
@@graffzon We from sweden are kinda crazy haha
@@boffe360 nejdå. We just know how bulletproof they are
Can't wait the Trolvo is nearly there 👍🏻
I’m really liking that new Haltech dash 👍🏻
It is awesome. We'll do a video next week on how to program it and hook it up properly
STREETMACHINETV sweet mate and thanks for the quick reply. Good job on everything as per always.
that jerry did alright! lol
Munro racing does an awesome highflow set of these! hogged out as far as they can go, make great power and still look stock.
The haltech dash looks so good!
We're going to do a Carnage Plus on it this week. It's very user friendly
Wouldn't you drive it down the street to see if it makes boost before wasting a tuners time?
Looks like allot of money already now a turbo and plumbing. Costing would be nice as it is going to be a cool ride with the dash and turbo 1J.
No boost , Too funny indeed . Time for that high mount turbo and thick wall spaghetti manifold !!! .
abit upsetting it's still abit broken But ay it's still a wicked looking car boys (thumbs up)
DO'H ! No Boost..... I say awesome stuff, coz it means we get to see more episode time on the legendary "JzTrolvo". WooHoo !
Ohhh, thanks for the LOVE Scotty and STREETMACHINE !
@@jamesblanton9364 Trust me you only want love from Scotty. You certainly don't want love from Telfo as you may have to have a few blood tests and weeks of nervous waiting over the results afterwards. 😳😝
@@MafiaboysWorld Why's that dude, what's up with Telf, is there something i'm missing about him, or do you know stuff i don't ? Or are ya just taking the piss and having a laugh, if ya do know something i don't fill me in please bro.
@@jamesblanton9364 Seeing this ---> 😝 should tell you the lack of seriousness in someone's comment. 👍
@@MafiaboysWorld Aahhh, got it mate. I'm a bit slow today...
It moved! 👍
Its trolvo, like you said, lol. i just worked out your spending so much effort and time on new stuff, that you forget the basic's like how easy is it to make sure that the turbo set up manifold is working, most turbo places will test it for ya and especially oe stuff, so twin turbo and the engine only made 60KW at the wheels, which then makes you think that with turbos your looking at maybe 180KW at the wheels, Also i bet the power steering reservoir will end up leaking as soon as the pressure builds up, think of how much heat is going via the welder onto the thin aluminum reservoir tank, even if its thin steel which i doubt it ,it will leak if you have tack welded it to the bracket, but good luck with it scotty and i hope it makes a ton of HP at the wheels. 🏎👌✌👍
It's definitely not aluminium, it would not have welded if that was the case. The car has always been an unknown quantity, we'll get it sorted. It was only on the dyno Monday afternoon, we've got a manifold and turbo on the way, it'll be back on the dyno next week and making power.
Why would it leak it's not under pressure
I'm not getting board of waiting to see the big single turbo on this swedish monster, good ebisod by the way
Didnt read the comments but.. all that work and you left the timing belt and WP as is?!
Was it just me or did it sound like it had boost flutter/ Bov noise at 12.24 when he was revving it?
Fucken cliff hanger - get that big single in and show us 500 horses!!
Biggest waste of money ever but when you have Street Machines money burn it all ha ha
Really enjoying this build, our family had this car growing up (mid 90's). Are you going to restore the interior & paint it too ?
We'll buff it and make it tidy
Have fun getting the twins off😂😂😂😂😂
Already done it once. 😡 That wasn't the issue, I reckon it's worse putting them back on, especially when you haven't done it before and forget the oil drains and you and a mate jam it on instead and cause the shitfight you currently have in your engine bay. 🤷😂🤣
need more video's!!!
You boys promised, and you have delivered 👍👍👌
Has Bubba bought the VT?
yes he has
Well, I see you are back to the builds and that's good! How's your boy doing I hope a lot better
He's actually doing really well, thanks for asking. They reduced his meds and it's actually helped
That's great to hear
Hmm, we have the same issue. NO BOOST!!
Good progress today for me, just watching this while the etch primer is drying on the chassis mounts. 👍 Only downer is I've misplaced two bolts...nothing major, they only hold one of the damn struts in place. 🤦 F'n idiot Maf. 🤷
Like a soarer i worked on. Made no boost. Two broken turbos. Dont ditch the twins. Get a dump pipe from kurt atzmuller and turbos upgraded by munro racing turbochargers.
@@coreyhutson5066 Already months ahead of you. 😉
I've already spoken with Glenn comprehensively. There's ideas we've spoken about that haven't been done yet. Only issue is me spending the extra money because it's not any of the four CT12A upgrade packages he has. 😉
Poor bastard...and I think that grill is for a later model 240 the 83 are a bit thinner
Hey Scotty, who did you end up ordering the new tank from? I need to do the same on one of my 240s
We got the sender from Amazon. We were going to get the tank from them too but they wouldn't send a tank to Australia. I'll dig up what site we used
Time to order a G30 900 .61ar with 6 Boost manifold and Turbosmart V wastegate and beanie.
Great turbo, would love to use one but I'm not sure we can afford it.
Do you have a link for the light you have hooked up under the hood as your work light ?
Schumacher Racing
www.batterychargers.com/en/products/work-light-road-flares/sl176r-15w-cob-led-under-hood-work-light
STREETMACHINETV thanks
I assume you figured out that you forgot to put the o-ring in between the sender and the tank at the 5 min mark in the video?
Yeah, the editor used the trial run and not the final fitment
The name says it all Troll...
Now i don't feel like the only one that has nothing but bad luck.
Getting there...
BUGGER!!!
U should try to change the front to the 1970 front
Trolvo troubles needs more parts just keep throwing them at it it will get boost eventually
That's the plan. Let's face it. A big single was always the plan.
I was hoping for dead turbos so we can see a single under the hood
Still can't figure out for the life of me why you didn't order the gas tank from Sweden, they are about half the price and I would assume shipping would be a lot cheaper as they are closer to you?
We live in Australia not Austria. Ordering stuff from the US is easy, from Sweden not so much
@@STREETMACHINETV well heck yeah. I knew Street Machine TV is located in Australia not Austria LOL the reason I say it might have been better to order from Sweden is for the time it would take to arrive not for Price or anything. But what do I know I'm just a silly American Boy stuck watching cool stuff happening on the other side of the world from me LOL
Are you going to fix up/repaint the car? would love to see a clean stock looking volvo with fresh paint, and be a total sleeper
We will tidy it up
Is that a genuine Binky Bracket?
Made almost as much as Telfo's Renault. Hectic.
where did the boosts go????!? WHAT DID U DO WITH THE BOOSTS
Broken ceramic turbos. Very common.
So we've heard
blokes not just a big turbo A FREEKIN GIANT ONE
Wasn't expecting that result that's for sure. Oh well now straight to the big single.
I ran 17.5 psi on those twins for years no failure just change the oil every 5k
what happen to the guy with the vl
That looks pretty good?, mmm..
please drink beer when welding too that standard
Buy an unfinished project they said...
It will be fun they said...
Everything is there, just needs some wiring and a tune they said 😂
By your tone at the end Scotty it was almost like you expected the turbos to be dead. Standard unfinished project things I suppose.
At this point nothing would surprise me
Bring on the big hair dryer :D Or maybe more accurately bring on the turbo sized perfectly to give a healthy number and make all the boost as early as possible.
Wow
Do a v6 commodore episode the p platers will love it, imagine the views
👍
When are you guys going to do a give away again.
Giveaway car? Like the Torana and Dart?
Total troll in the trolvo
There is some bloke in Norway or some place that had a 2J in a Volvo but he is now putting a Lamborghini v10 in it
That would be peter björck and he is from sweden 😝
Instead of a big single why don’t you guys do something different and see how much power it will make on hiflows???? That will look even more like a sleeper.
Gtx3584rs time? 🤔
Weren't the turbos inspected?
No, we either decided that they would work, or they wouldn't
Yeah fair enough hahaha. Love your work, keep it coming.
barra turbos are like 50 bucks at the wreckers....
Oh No, what a shame that the twins are cactus. You must be so so disappointed that you are "FORCED" to ditch them for a big single now 🤣😏😉
Heartbroken
I could tell. 😏
Is it or will it be road registered?
The plan is to be road registered eventually
you can get the twins high flow rebuilt......
You can but why
I'd still have this one over the '86 ATCC car. Red Volvo looks nicer.
What is 60 kilowatts in freedom?
less than 100hp
Am I ever going to see burnouts???
yes
Time for a big Hiroshima Hair Dryer then Scotty and Kian!
Att order parts from usa when its a swedish car and u can get parts for 240/740/940 pretty much for free here? ^^
Why stick another problematic tank in it?
Bro ive had stock original tanks on 40 yeat old 240^s aint any problems with fresh stock ones
John trolvolta
wasn’t the original budget $2000? 🤣
That dash would have paid for a nice big single and manifold.
The dash is only $1300, not going to get much of a turbo and manifold for that, but we have something on the way. The plan was to try the standard turbos first
@@STREETMACHINETV Yeah fair call. I think deep down even you guys are happy the stock turbos failed ;)
@@vin18m not happy, but not overly surprised or disappointed
Soooo, $6k+ of Haltech gear on a $2k project? seems legit.
No really a $2k project. Initially I though we might be able to get it running for that but so many problems have cropped up that we don't care any more. Just want it running now.
Fair enough, but your average punter doing a Trolvo in their shed at home isn’t likely to spend that much on aftermarket ECU gear, they’re more likely to use the Datsun (Nissan) ECU etc..
Not the Volvota ))
Better go and get the Toyolvo out instead ;)
I'm convinced ALL Volvos are cursed. I'm not even superstitious, but I've had an irrational fear of them since the early 90s, even as far as avoiding them like the plague on the road. Every time I've been pulled over, there's been a Volvo about, and I've lost count of how many near misses I've had involving one or near one. They're the devil's chariot...
This car may actually be cursed
98 octane ?
yes, but we'll probably go for E85
YA know.......... a Volvo B230 ET or FT would have done the same job....
The ET is a Squirter and who doesnt love a squirter.......
Im sure if you ask nicely Pommy Mark Iceton at Berry's Mitcham would have 1 or 10 laying about and even stock with the tiny Garret or Mitsi turbo they make respectable power, add a bigger turbo and the Haltech ECU and it'd fly.
#TAVO works for Volvo too lol
I'm sure someone will be sending you a "Nice Big Single" 🐌
I hope so, I've been a good boy
Single !!
BRING BACK TURBO TAXI!!!
Next year
a true Trolvo would have had the original block in it, with a new head and cam. Pushing 800 bhp
Those turbos can take 19 psi and have a relatively good life
19 is pushing it, 17psi they say is safe for the ceramic turbines
Depends on version. Front sump versions can't go more than 12-14psi or you pop the rear turbo from oil starvation. I've got a CT12A in a tub as proof.
@@christiandryden88 i didn't say safe.
but yeah i was thinking highflowed upgraded twins good for a mid to high 12 in an mx83 with auto
@@MafiaboysWorld hmm most swap jzs start life as rear sump non vvti
@@asjmpickle JZA70, JZX81 and early (pre '93) JZZ30 are all front sump. 👍 I have the JZA70 in mine. Usually the swaps these days come from JZX90s which are rear sump.
Wish this would hurry up.... Lol....
Quality takes times, bodginess takes longer :)
@@STREETMACHINETV lov you guys hahah ..keep up the great work ..full support u guys there
if you guys are going to rebuild the twins, there's a great place in QLD that does amazing work....... www.munroracingturbochargers.com.au/performance.2jzct20.html
hope we get the next episode before kiss me ass aka xmas
Yep, hopefully two more episodes before the end of the year
@@STREETMACHINETV ok cool cant wait
Keep your hands off any welder. Thanks.
Yeah unfortunately I turned the gas off after the tack welds and forgot to turn the gas back on. Not my best work
