    Great video! Just bought a 2003 WRX with an aftermarket turbo and this helped me understand what exactly the ARA regulations mean for me.

    Nice info I still have my group N restrictor it was off a bc5 legacy rs type R . It was designed like sperical joint so it could be turned 90deg if in sealed of non sanctions events. Love the Galant vr4 in video , it's come up well.
    I must hail the Era of Group G tho , please do a good story of this ERA. And the Mazuba is my unicorn, but the Dazda s are close behind. My old group G car recently turned up on Grey's online in Brisbane. The $ Hungary guy I sold it to just car yard paint jobed it and removed key innovations 😢
    I don't know how rally comes back to its hey days eras especially given ms Australia New rules for Targa if rally isn't expensive enough

      Thanks for watching! We may do a Group G video in future. The hard part will be finding footage I think.

      @@rallyactionwa I believe the Mazuba is on RUclips , just a short clip , there is an article in rally action on it. I have a copy of it back in 2005/6/7? Had Cody Crocker or chris Atkinson , and the magna ralliart vrx rally of Canberra article. Talk about chance I have a promo magna ralliart vrx ralliart way pained car. And met the current owner of the Mazuba at swap meets . But I would love also to find my old legacy will need a big cash wallet today for it.

      Yes my GRP n had one and the restriction was like a sperical joint . The design should be in the holomogated book for group N FIA legacy rs bc5

      @@petergracemeguide1280 Yes we know John and yes he does still have the Dazda. Whether we coud source enough footage of sufficient quality to make a 10+ minute video is another story. We'll add it to the list and you never know.

    Have you ever done a turbo swap on a ej20 that has the 90 degree snout td04l? Mine has that turbo, can’t fit a restrictor to that.

    • @rallyactionwa
      @rallyactionwa  Год назад +3

      Actually yes and yes you can. The early GC & RS Liberty Turbos certainly can have a restrictor fitted. Have done it several times.

    • @pj3635
      @pj3635 Год назад +1

      @@rallyactionwa you don’t happen to have any info on that set up do you?
      I’ve only been told that I would have to swap the turbo and intake for the front inlet td04 and taller manifold.
      But if a pain

    • @rallyactionwa
      @rallyactionwa  Год назад +3

      @@pj3635 A restrictor can definitely be fitted to the early turbos. The 90 degree elbow needs to be chopped off and the compressor housing machined to accept a restrictor. A restrictor is then turned up to fit in the housing within 50mm of the blades. Lugs are then welded onto the inlet side of the compressor housing, drilled and tapped. A RS Liberty/Legacy 90 degree elbow is then bolted to the compressor housing with the restrictor sitting in between the compressor housing and the elbow. There should be pics available, perhaps see if you can get a copy of the homologation papers for a Liberty/Legacy RS which will propbably show the detail.
      Fitting a different; manifold, intake, air filter setup, power steering pump/lines, turbo & intercooler is a big job on an EJ20G. From memory you can only use a manifold off an EJ20K (1997). The later EJ205/207 manifolds/heads are different and do not bolt directly to the EJ20G. Depending on how it is done, the conversion can also affect wiring loom, coil/coil packs, air idle solenoid, possibly the ECU and a whole bunch of other items. Much eaiser to fit a restrictor to the existing turbo.
