      @@STREETMACHINETV btw Scotty you shouldn't put aluminum into sodium hydroxide, it destroys the metal and also the reaction causes hydrogen as a byproduct and that is no good for breathing, and also highly flammable

      Yep, the main thing is he's not advocating doing this stuff yourself (don't do this at home) but fact is none of us have ALL the tools and ALL the experience, we all just do what we can with what we have and if it works & nobody loses a limb then it's all good. Everybody happy.

    These videos are brilliant to watch. I appreciate how Scotty explains things as he's going along. I'm not very experienced with the mechanical side of cars yet, and don't know half of what's going on, but it's all very interesting to me. I'd love to work on and build cars one day.

    Hey just a quick tip. When pouring out of a liquid out of a jug, in this case it was oil, hold the jug sideways. It will pour nice and smooth that way rather than slopping out like in the video.

    You guys should split these episodes up into 10-15 minute videos and scatter them with every other day uploads. This will maximise persons watching the whole video, monetising more videos for your benefit and will help attract more viewers.

      Good in theory but people like consistency and we couldn't pump out a video every couple days consistently. It's easier for us to give you one a fortnight or one a week in special occasions like this

    A little tip: use break cleaner as a lubricant when mounting hoses. Especially silicone hoses become very slippery and easy to install (and it especially aids disassembly!) and the brake cleaner evaporates quickly and leaves no residue.

    Over my 38yrs trade life I have had no choice many times to finish off someone else's project sigh 🙄 all the wiring is done should fire right up mate comments were common.

    also the where ever you cut holes for the cooler piping and braided lines, run some protective rub and paint the cut area. those braided lines will eat away the metal if they rub, even if they rub on each other,

    You could have at least deburred the hole you cut for the cooler lines in the support panel. Even maybe split a bit of rubber hose and use it to cover the edge of the hole so the lines don't rub

    As a swede I enjoy seeing a twuh-furt-tee being built. Good priorities. Not to nitpick too much but caustic soda is the opposite of an acid, high ph instead of low ph. Nasty stuff still.

    Aghhh so close yet so far... If it was me I'd get the original ECU running things to start with. but I'm cheap lol if you can afford the standalone gear it's probably just as quick to get it set up with that.

    you will need to retain the factory ecu for the transmission but piggyback wire-in a standalone computer to look after the motor. The other solution is Wolf make a direct plugin ecu for toyota soarer that has auto control incorporated (can increase line pressure, adjust shift points etc.)

    Hey Scotty, loving the build but I’ve got a quick question for ya. Why didn’t you flip the trans-cooler bracket 180° to allow the front facing surface to be completely exposed to atmosphere?

      Because it hit against the bonnet catch. We had to mount it behind or make up new brackets

    Coming on sweet - She's gonna pump with a big single.
    (I remember hearing the stock twin turbos are only good for 14psi - ceramic impellers)

      Dustin Nielson ran them at 16 on a soarer for a fair while until the bearings let go the impellers were still fine

    I use Genuine Toyota 20W50 in my 1jz not 10 40 man!!
    Look forward to the 50c test. 4000rpm with a 50 on edge on the cam cover!! Such a smooth 6!!

      LOL, I've seen the Roadkill cars up close and personal. Most of them are deathtraps, but all that aside they're mostly doing simple v8 conversion stuff and they can overnight parts from Summit

    it took me hours to put on those hoses as the aeroflow hoses were just too small. i ended up heating the hoses up in boiling water then putting them on with some WD40 lol

    8:30 Scotty just use some C clamps to hold the vice down it works as a temp option
