Caustic Soda is actually Alkalai, It's the exact opposite of an Acid.
Yeah, it's been mentioned. I meant that it will burn you like acid
@@STREETMACHINETV Yeah, the extreme ends of the ph scale WILL do some damage to your body.
Really good for cleaning oil spills at least veg oil turns it into soap
@@STREETMACHINETV btw Scotty you shouldn't put aluminum into sodium hydroxide, it destroys the metal and also the reaction causes hydrogen as a byproduct and that is no good for breathing, and also highly flammable
@@nightshadewolf5964 i think Scotty coughing proved that
This guy is so relaxed doing everything, that im relaxed myself. Loving it.
I was only just thinking that. If I was doing this on my own, I'd be stressing out bigtime. But this guy is chill. I'd love to work with him.
ASMR mechanic.
I like the down played background music and the casual delivery of the works.
All the other RUclips channels are hyped up and over excited.
I like to work at a chilled pace on my projects so this suits me.
Great to see Scotty is able to use his old trade skills again. Who ever said becoming a Butcher would not help you when working on cars in life?? Love your work!!
bro those trans lines need a rubber grommet thru the radiator support: hole you drilled ) will save a headache later :)
Lovin all the experts comments freaking out instead of just enjoying the carnage 🤷🏻♂️
Keep that bandsaw spin'n boys 👌🏻
I think it makes them feel like they know something lol,, instead of just enjoying the build,,,
Ohh thank god im not the only one!!!! “U forgot this, don’t forget that, that’s not right, why haven’t u done this, why are u doing it like that blah blah” Arghh SHUT THEEEE FFUUUUUUUUCK UP...... faarrrrk
Yep, the main thing is he's not advocating doing this stuff yourself (don't do this at home) but fact is none of us have ALL the tools and ALL the experience, we all just do what we can with what we have and if it works & nobody loses a limb then it's all good. Everybody happy.
Just found this channel no more then a few days ago and I've been binge watching since! Love it. Subscribed
"Thank Christ for that"
*What every car guy says* 😄
It's a mantra.
Max Rockatanksy or "thank F*CK!"
😂
😂
I'm on my ten minute smoko going to watch the whole episode. She'll be right.
just send it
I’m on smoko, so leave me alone!!!
If I squint really hard It’s basically just like watching turbo Yoda! Love your work Scotty👍🏻👍🏻
Thats like comparing chalk and cheese mate. The quality of work is completely different
These videos are brilliant to watch. I appreciate how Scotty explains things as he's going along. I'm not very experienced with the mechanical side of cars yet, and don't know half of what's going on, but it's all very interesting to me. I'd love to work on and build cars one day.
Hey just a quick tip. When pouring out of a liquid out of a jug, in this case it was oil, hold the jug sideways. It will pour nice and smooth that way rather than slopping out like in the video.
I remember learning the "tape braided line before you cut it" trick from the scotts garage days.
Awesome work Scotty, so glad to see a Volvo build on RUclips 👍🏻
Mooore Volvo 240 videos😁 from Sweden
Loving the new workshop and its builds, great to see every tool being used ... because you can!! :)
Love the way you present!
So confident and so calm and relaxed. Thats how you know a person knows their shit.
Definitely subscribing!
Cant wait to see this run!
You guys should split these episodes up into 10-15 minute videos and scatter them with every other day uploads. This will maximise persons watching the whole video, monetising more videos for your benefit and will help attract more viewers.
Love the videos!
Good in theory but people like consistency and we couldn't pump out a video every couple days consistently. It's easier for us to give you one a fortnight or one a week in special occasions like this
A little tip: use break cleaner as a lubricant when mounting hoses. Especially silicone hoses become very slippery and easy to install (and it especially aids disassembly!) and the brake cleaner evaporates quickly and leaves no residue.
Cheers for the 40 minute episode! Loved every minute and your chilled approach to getting it all sorted, sorry to see those bloody wiring gremlins halted you getting it started. Can’t wait to hear it run!
loving the build Scotty. love the fact it's Volvo and Toyota. its like the old hotrod days make it fast with what you have no matter the brand.
You guys got this! Eagerly awaiting the next episode from Aurora, Colorado USA.
Great [work] Scott ! Good job on clearancing that sump baffle kit. Keep the work coming.
another great vid, love the mini bandsaw!!!!
Another ripper ep Scotty, and Haltec it i recon, thanks boys and i'll see you next episode.
Great job SM, great progress Scotty.
Keep the videos coming, good wait this time, good length too.
I need to see it fire up 😎
I love carnage I can only watch you and the mcmtv boys
love your work guys!
Haltec it straight away the toyota ecu will restrict you for later mods ..
Starting fresh, you know what goes were, is just as quick as most probing and recording of the wires.
HAHA HELTECH LINK IS KING!
@@Monstero5o dont link it.. complete rewire it .. toyota stuff will be knackered by now . It is close to 28 years old
@@soarinsoarer1 Then let me wire it lol I've done over 30 cressidas with 1jz and 2jz swaps lol
@@soarinsoarer1 but yeah, literally need to rewire the whole thing and clean the body of the car so the rust doesn't destroy everything lol
It's got a working power moon roof. AWESOME!
Amazing how every “car enthusiast” in RUclips land is a qualified mechanic/fabricator/tuner/fuel injection specialist etc... a lot of talented people out there hey 💦🍆✊
👍
Haha🤣😂 yeah & 99.9% of the time it seems to be people who have never uploaded a video (let alone a car video) to RUclips or even changed their avatar pic 🤔 it's pretty hard to do these days 😂
canuckguy worried immature maybe but at the same time pretty damn fair!... these guys aren’t idiots, they know wat their doing is rough and dodgey.. that’s why the shows called CARNAGE, they don’t need empty educated tips and facts thrown at them by keyboard warrior know it alls and weekend family car tinkerers with no background
canuckguy worried Yeah well old wash ups with their noses out of joint aren’t always who they say they are either mate!!.. since u want to go down that track... your behind a keyboard too, do not forget that. We all are, doesn’t matter who or wat we are by profession... which is why I don’t tell people what to do or boast wat I am and wat I’ve done on these videos.. so how about instead of getting your pacemaker out of tune and calling people names.. maybe try and understand
canuckguy worried I’m not claiming I’m smart.. unlike yourself “aww 40years this and 15years that blah blah fucking blah”... you’ve put yourself in the spotlight with these claims here stranger... so prove me ignorant
Haltec it for sure 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 loving the volvo 😍
Subscribed! Great project car
You've got 8000 benches Scotty. Why do you choose to work on the floor lol.
Because there are work benches and fab benches. Our fab bench is still coming
The sign of a true craftsman ...working on the floor with a loose vice and an angle grinder.....haha
Sometimes you've just got to do what you've got to do.
Must feel good putting new shit on old shit. Great work fellas :)
loving it but gosh so many perfectionist comments just remember folks this is carnage good old school getting the job done like back in the day when men were men and woman knew it not the Bentley assembly workshop
Looks good 😍🔥
Love the little edit at 13:03 hahaha
No transmission sump while lines get fitted, then next shot the sump is back on.... Complete with oil and road dirt hahaha
wash the under body and i bet you'll lose about 50kg of dust and maybe rust lol
G'day from West Australia,
Over my 38yrs trade life I have had no choice many times to finish off someone else's project sigh 🙄 all the wiring is done should fire right up mate comments were common.
😏 usually had to start fresh coz it was simpler and time efficient.
Its good to see the priorities are taken care of first))
That hand shear looks quite useful
Every step that you guys have done i've had to do as well haha
also the where ever you cut holes for the cooler piping and braided lines, run some protective rub and paint the cut area. those braided lines will eat away the metal if they rub, even if they rub on each other,
the troll part of this project is it will never fecking start and they'll KEEP saying "this time we start it"
You could have at least deburred the hole you cut for the cooler lines in the support panel. Even maybe split a bit of rubber hose and use it to cover the edge of the hole so the lines don't rub
Bill Nye the Science Guy meets Might Car Mods! Epic!
It's a Volvo! Of course the wireing is going to be perfect! :D
As a swede I enjoy seeing a twuh-furt-tee being built. Good priorities. Not to nitpick too much but caustic soda is the opposite of an acid, high ph instead of low ph. Nasty stuff still.
Still nasty, burns like acid is what I meant to say
You guys need to get the Redback Silicone Hose Cuter!
We'll have to check that out
@@STREETMACHINETV ask turbo yoda or check out skid factory for his review, but at 300 odd bucks a pop it's not a cheap bit of kit
Video editor looks like he had fun with this.
Love all the long adds
Another great episode boys
Love the long videos 👍
I wonder if the previous owner is watching 🤔
He is
STREETMACHINETV ah ok
Aghhh so close yet so far... If it was me I'd get the original ECU running things to start with. but I'm cheap lol if you can afford the standalone gear it's probably just as quick to get it set up with that.
Go motec ecu plenty of potential and no restrictions in the future.
Damn that volvo looks nice when its washed really good
you will need to retain the factory ecu for the transmission but piggyback wire-in a standalone computer to look after the motor. The other solution is Wolf make a direct plugin ecu for toyota soarer that has auto control incorporated (can increase line pressure, adjust shift points etc.)
or make a $50 diode box and make the trans solenoids shift by push buttons on the steering wheel.
0:57 Scotty "Manimal" Taylor, everyone. (Good vid lads.)
Start fresh with the wiring. You’ll be happy you did. Keep up the good work
"...So once you put the shifter box over the top of it, you'll never even know it was there..." Apart from the video showing it to the internet for the rest of perpetuity...
Nice obtuse comment😂
good vids
U can get a scraper handle for those stanley blades....sm whs manager must be having kitrens
The results from the bead roller at 25:01 were great.
how it´s going with the volvo when are the new video coming want too see it run
Heltec it, At least you'll know it's good, as the Toyota one might already be fried.
And yes, I did manage a break from work to watch this episode. :D
Just a 'bit' different to working on turbo taxi and Mr Dodgy eh, Scotty?! Those bloody Swedes! ; )
36:52 When you need a 12mm but all you can find is a 1/2 inch :P
Go straight for the Haltech
Hey Scotty, loving the build but I’ve got a quick question for ya. Why didn’t you flip the trans-cooler bracket 180° to allow the front facing surface to be completely exposed to atmosphere?
Because it hit against the bonnet catch. We had to mount it behind or make up new brackets
Coming on sweet - She's gonna pump with a big single.
(I remember hearing the stock twin turbos are only good for 14psi - ceramic impellers)
Dustin Nielson ran them at 16 on a soarer for a fair while until the bearings let go the impellers were still fine
@@carbonfiber492 Cheers mang!
Wait till you realise the trans will need wiring up or you'll have only 1st and reverse......they're not like a th400 or c4
I use Genuine Toyota 20W50 in my 1jz not 10 40 man!!
Look forward to the 50c test. 4000rpm with a 50 on edge on the cam cover!! Such a smooth 6!!
Barra ECU all the way! ‘Budget’ spec ecu swap!!
20w sounds too thick for a 1jz, recommended is 5w or 10w is what I've seen
Nearly 30 yr old engine...???
lovely!!
Put the Ali mounts behind the transmission cooler will look better and you won’t be blocking the cooler 😂 looking good 👍👊
Yeah unfortunately that would have interfered with the bonnet catch
👍 good progress happening keep up the good work mate 👊
Roadkill: builds a car in 2 days
Carnage: builds a car in 2 months
LOL, I've seen the Roadkill cars up close and personal. Most of them are deathtraps, but all that aside they're mostly doing simple v8 conversion stuff and they can overnight parts from Summit
Please help with my OCD, by going back and weld close that seam where the fold was, when you cut the lip off for clearance @ 4:22 to 4:26. Thanks.
Will do, just for you
it took me hours to put on those hoses as the aeroflow hoses were just too small. i ended up heating the hoses up in boiling water then putting them on with some WD40 lol
The angle of the dangle, is equal to, the heat of the meat. Which makes the blow flow slow, through the throb of the knob.
Both supported by Ryobi
Both use car parts as musical instruments
Both love working on cars
Street Machine/Mighty car Mods Colab needs to happen lol or even a build off and battle
I think we should make Scotty go roll around in the dirt for 5 minutes so he relive what it was like before he had the shop.
Yeah nah
Haltech ecu!! Seems like it would be easier.
and cost a crap load?
Factory are real easy, I dun plenty all info in the net
@@Griddens pretty sure they might have a hook up.
hey scotty got a link for that bansaw you use, love how smooth it is

Creapiest intro ever ..... Thumbs up
What do you do with all the waste liquids?
What-brand kit is that for the oil? sump
Waiting for part 3, when will it be uploaded? Got a 84 myself, looks a bit different, but it´s of course a export model that you have. Like what you doin.
Got some other stuff to finish off first but Part 3 should be within the next few weeks
@@STREETMACHINETV great, looking forward to that:) Thanks for the answer, greetings from Sweden:)
@@MrHoodlum73 Thanks for watching
I’m hoping these videos will improve the value of my 78 240 wagon. 😁👌
Hey Scotty that under bonnet lead light. What is it. I need one I'm like Stevie Wonder trying to work in the garage at night
Im in America like the band saw where does one get one thks p.s.great video
Nice layer of anti-corrosion protection on the gearbox.
Please tell me you plan to put a round grommet in that big hole you drilled to protect the ATF lines.
Of course
@@STREETMACHINETV phew!
Start fresh is my vote
Look at you Scotty and all your fancy Ryobi tools
Also are we gunna see this race the Turbo Taxi?
Hopefully racing tomo if weather improves!
8:30 Scotty just use some C clamps to hold the vice down it works as a temp option
Could you flip the brackets for the trans cooler?
Unfortunately I made them fairly precise. It's not going to cause too much drama
@@STREETMACHINETV Thanks for the reply 👍
No mass air flow sensor ?
Im learning so much
Like not buying other peoples unfinished projects?
@@STREETMACHINETV yes but my main project is working on my dads f6 typoon
@@STREETMACHINETV 😂🤣😂🤣 It's okay Scotty, you got Telfo's petty cash tin. 👍
going raw dog on that pan in the cleaning table! You're hardcore.
