The River Danube isn’t the only thing that links Hungary and Slovakia. Both countries share a common history - as part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, as members of the Cold-War era Eastern bloc, and since 2004, as members of the European Union. In 2018, Hungary and Slovakia have both been under scrutiny over their behaviour as European member states. Hungary has come under fire for what Brussels sees as pressure on democratic institutions, the judiciary, the independent press, and more.
In part one of our programme, we're in Budapest to explore some of the biggest recent issues in Hungary: asking government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs whether his country might change its stance on migrants in the face of a threatened loss of EU voting rights; we also meet Greens group MEP Benedek Javor, who tells us his predictions for the next four years under Viktor Orban; our reporters investigate claims of corruption and misuse of public funds; and we visit the offices of George Soros’ Open Society Foundations to hear why the NGO is shutting its doors in Hungary - the first time it’s closed down operations in an EU member state.

So distributing God knows how much bad debts as loans in Italy, France, Greece, Spain, .... Does not qualify as corruption? Why does ECB print money right now under the leadership of the French ex-finance minister and use this money to intervene on the bond market? This is not corruption?
I would suggest a very simple measure for public corruption - the government debt as % of GDP.

I'm from PH. I'm proud to Hungary and Viktor Orban. We experience the same problem from foreign nations especially EU and USA. They keep criticizing our beloved elected president as if they know better about our nation's problem more than the Filipinos. Again, cheers!

The Hungarian population is Westley behind Viktor Orban. Friends is going through a downward spiral while Hungary is going to upward spiral. Compared to France hungary's crime rate is way less. The Hungarian people made a decision to vote for Viktor Orban as he is the only person (with guts and determination) to ensure that the Hungarians live in a safe , fair and secure Christian society (the society that the majority of the Hungarians want to live in ....full stop ! ) he will not bow down to the EU' s dictates as he has the sense to know that without a doubt it would only end in ruining the country. I genuinely consider this man to be a sincere patriot and a true hero and I applaud every single action that he has taken on behalf of the Hungarian people.

At the end of the day Orban Viktor was voted as prime minister. It is a democracy. So deal with it even if u don't like him.
It is doubtful whether Orbán would've been able to remain as PM had he not grossly gerrymandered the electoral law to benefit him back in 2011. Abolishing the second round & thereby ruining what was in my opinion one of the best electoral systems in the world is one of the biggest crimes (albeit not a legal one) of the Orbán regime.

@Kartvelian nationalist This argument would work if Georgia was the only country that has ever had a liberal government but you know very well that that is not the case. I have a hard time believing that an Opposition Prime Minister would build a massive stadium next to their house in the middle of nowhere the way Orbán did. I would also be surprised if said potential future PM's childhood friend would become the country's richest man out of nowhere, like Orbán's did.

@@goddessIv the armed forces have to be under democratic rule. It is not anymore it’s controlled by one person, therefore Hungary should be exempt from article 5. No true powerful nato nations should have to step in and help Hungary in conflict.
