At the end of the video, you'll also see 1 whole FISH 🐟 which Shadow brought 2 days earlier during the storm. It was unusual as he always brings headless fish. 🎉😍❤️
It is rare for male eagles to bring prey for their mate to the nest. Shadow is unique and amazing! 🦅🥰
We should be grateful to FOBBV for letting us admire such an unsual phenomenon in the eagles' world from such a close distance.

It's fantastic how much they love each other ❤️ Their nest is in a beautiful spot! It's fun to watch thensun come up out west, too. I live in Wisconsin and see Eagle's all the time around the Wisconsin River. But there aren't any great cams like this one here. Thanks for your time making the video as well.

Yes shadow does ear the head first. That is his Mantra.

Shadow eats the head before bringing the fish to the nest. The head is the most nourishing.

Shadow is skinny compared to Jackie and yet he sacrifices his own self comfort (food) for her. Amazing self sacrifice, but if he gets much skinnier he's not going to be able to brood as well on the nest.
Shadow is super healthy with his size. Female eagles are much larger than males since they incubate for the majority of the time, it helps protect the eggs better from the elements. Males being small makes them better hunters- Shadow is a great fish catcher he eats plenty- he usually eats the heads and gives the rest to Jackie but sometimes he brings her whole fishes to be extra special. He most likely catches a fish for himself eats it and then catches another for Jackie 😊 so no worries about Shadow being underfed!
I have observed multiple eagle nests, and have not found one eagle couple that compares to these two sweethearts. They are very humanistic, and I would not be a bit surprised if they were reincarnated from a previous life as a married couple to get a second chance, in order to correct their bad traits, and indeed they are overwhelmingly succeeding to soar like eagles should. Praise to the Creator of the world!

Thank you for the beautiful videos 🙂 I like nature, animals, birds .... Since January of this year, I started tracking bald eagles in Big Bear Valley. Jackie and Shadow are amazing and loving parents ❤ Their eggs are not doing well this year. I feel sorry for them 😢 I wish them the best of luck 🙏🦅

Yes, they were mating. There is a video with them mating. However, they still have old eggs, so it is hardly possible for Jackie to lay new ones at the moment.

The mating and then all this stick activity, now extra fish for Jackie. I'm hanging on to some hope, it can't hurt.
It's been too long, those eggs must be getting a little rotten by now..when will they give up and will they use thus same nest next time?

Has Jackie even have hatched any of her eggs?
Yes, not this year and not last year, but previously quite a few. However, the female doesn't "hatch" the eggs; they either hatch or not due to many factors which may even be the male's fault for less-than-viable sperm to failing to support and feed the female. Shadow's behavior doesn't seem to be the problem here, nor Jackie's. Just like human miscarriages, sometimes the embryos just don't form right and the offspring are simply not viable. I think that early February blizzard may have caused the eggs to die; they were on just the sticks with the ferocious cold wind blowing through them, no "fluff" to insulate and block the wind. We'll never really know.
Jackie and Shadow had 2 sets of chicks in 2019 and 2022. This year's eggs are past their hatching date.

When eggs do not hatch, they are left and can become a part of the nest or other birds such as ravens or woodpeckers can eat them.

Actually, I think Shadow likes the heads and he eats them before bringing the fish to the nest.

Your facts are wrong. J&S's diet is primarily fish during their nesting season. 80%of their diet. It's common fir Shadow to bring fish.
I cannot see any mistake here. I think you misunderstood. I did not write that it is rare for them to eat fish. In fact, there are mostly fish in videos from this season. There was only one coot besides fish. I wrote that it is not common for a male eagle to bring fish for his mate sitting on the nest. It is rarely seen and Shadow is very special in delivering fish to Jackie. Friends of Big Bear Valley were highlighting this fact, too.
In other words, it is worth highlighting the fact that Shadow is a special male eagle because of bringing fish so often for Jackie to the nest. Other male eagles do not do it so often.
