I've never seen an eaglet hatch before but I have hatched hundreds of all different kinds of birds( Mostly waterfowl) in an incubator and they usually rotate inside that egg as they are hatching and as they come out of the egg after breaking the egg shell top 360 degrees. They then push up with there heads and the top hinges open. You could see that this eaglet was not rotating during hatching, because it was stuck to the inner membrane of the egg. You can see the hunk of membrane that prevented him from rotating, stuck to it's back after hatching. This made his hatching process a little on the long side. He probably got stuck to the membrane during the very late stages of development just before hatching. It can be caused by not turning an egg often enough during development, but it had to happen not to long before hatching or it probably would not have survived. Very nice camera zoom shots in this video.
@@patrickmonteiro1999 - Hunters did not shoot them. Juliet came back to the nest twuce with blood on her beak - not blood from food. Many say it was a territorial fight with another female eagle. After the 2nd or 3rd time of having blood on her beak, she never returned. 😪 Their eggs were about to hatch. One egg was non-viable - 2nd one hatched and Romeo tried to keep it alive. There were female eagles flying around the nest - Romeo left once or twice to find food and the newly hatched eaglet was taken for food by an adult female eagle. This is where A2 (now called Gabrielle) comes into the story. Romeo came back to the nest to find A2 attempting to incubate the eggs. Romeo let her but she was still too young and unsure of what to do. Romeo leaves for good - probably tried to find his Juliet but neither returned. Samson came back to the nest that year (I think) and a few females competed for his attention. Gabrielle won his heart - they had Jules+Romy last year and Legacy this year. Romeo +Juliet were the first eagle couple I watched that last year they were together - such a loving couple. Romeo would stay on the outer edge of the nest each time she would lay an egg as if he were watching for any danger - protecting Juliet. I still miss them greatly. - Stephanie
Can’t imagine how exhausted the hatchling was after 40 hours of trying to escape the shell! I was on pins and needles just waiting for her to come out! Incredible shots and footage; shared it with my grandchildren today. They LOVED it.
What an incredible process to be able to watch! Thank you so very much for sharing this miraculous moment of our national emblem legacy being born! 🇺🇸 ❤💙💜💖
What an absolutely beautiful breathtaking thing to watch. From the parents devotion to taking turns keeping the eggs warm, bringing food, building up the nest to the way they're so gentle with those powerful talons. Amazing, lovely creatures!!
Hi Maria, great question! On average an eaglet will fully emerge or hatch from an egg within 24-48 hours after the initial pip (the first hole made in the shell by the eaglet). Thanks for watching!
Awesome video from start to finish of a precious newborn babe being born. Thank you for the wonderful editing......Great job!! Congratulations to Romeo and Juliet!
It took so long to hatch and mom didn't hasten the hatching. I thought I saw an yolk sac still attached to the eaglet, so maybe that was some nourishment for the chick as he struggled to break into life.
R & J left behind a magnificent legacy...I am honored to have had the opportunity to observe the bond they shared together. I am confident that their fledglings are thriving, and carrying on that strong genetic code.
@Lifelite 1 Hello, i read your posting and hopefully, this biutyful chicks had survive !!?But poor Mom J.not??This is so,so very sadly,i bot Tears in my Eyes

Lovely to see, it was a long process and parents so devoted, pity babe is born in winter, must be a cold time for babies! I look forward ro seeing progress of both chicks, greetings from Sydney Australia
I’ve observed a lot of chickens hatching and they hatch with a few hours i get that they’re totally different birds but I could not believe how long they took to hatch, that was more than a 24 hr time span to be free of that egg
Man has a lot to learn from the life of Eagles, how it grows, learn, feed, hunting, life partnership, mating, nest buildup, laying eggs, hatching, feeding the chicks, period of bringing up all... The life cycle.
Looked like mom stepped right on the eaglet near the end lol. You gotta wonder how their tiny tiny little selfs can eat shreds of meat pulled off of fish by mom right from the start when they’re that small
Hi Love, this is the information I got off their website: UPDATE March 15, 2019: Juliet was last seen at the nest on December 17, 2018 following an apparent territorial fight as observed by her injury which occurred days prior. Romeo has not been seen since December 26, after the newly-hatched eaglet in the nest was unfortunately taken by a large eagle that likely equated the hatchling to food. Following the absence of Romeo & Juliet, a number of eagles in the Hamlet have found that this beautiful nest is a great resting stop and a lovely place to visit.
Is this "Peace?" I like how the eagle at 2:14 is trying to say, "Get up! I want to see!" Then the other one's like "Fine, you sit here then!" and walks off.
I was just thinking about how long it took. I'm wondering if when it starts gettin' 'snug' inside, the chick starts poking at the egg walls to 'make room' and then proceeds to literally grow out of his small accommodations. :)
The bald eagle is from the same family to which Philippine Eagle belongs such as Accipitridae as well as it has the same genus Haliaeetus. It is the national animal and the national bird of the USA. It's the natural brown body as well as white head and tail makes it easy to identify this bird even from a distance.
