Wow. Didnt know eagles laid eggs in winter - sad to watch knowing the strong eaglet will murder it's sibling. Also, based on your other videos, I'm guessing the NE16 indicates this cam's location is Nebraska? It would be awfully kind to list the location in the description.

you are so wrong. this nest has never known siblicide as long as it has existed. all their eaglets fledged successfully. actually it is rare in bald eagles. there is sibling rivalry but rarely it comes to the death of youngest eaglet!
and also this nest is not in Nebraska but in North East Florida.

@@pascale_eagles appreciate the kind response and grateful to be WRONG but i will cite the Audubon Society Encyclopedia of North American birds as to the information on the Bald eaglets and it says it is COMMON. Maybe you could berate them rather than me please.

@@beyondtheprogramming It really depends on the availability of food. If there is enough food to sustain two fledglings then two survive. Availability by two means. First is there enough food in the environment for the hunting birds to score kills and sustain themselves and three other mouths. There are contributing factors like location of the nest, and the numbers of competitors within that predatory niche. Second is the skill of the individual hunting bird. Surprisingly not all birds are equal. Some flying raptors are very skilled hunters while a few others can barely kill enough food to sustain itself.
