      I think it is because there is only one chick. The previous time when there were 4, it was not so easy to hit the target :)

      Thanks :) honestly, I was getting upset that I did not see the chick after fledging for some time. I thought that fox or cat might eat it. But then I noticed the parents with the food in their beaks jumping around and disappearing in the hedge…

      Yes! Is God amazing! The Creator of all things perfectly made. From conception to independence, He made all species different yet alike in that we care for & provide for our babies. My only wish is that humans didn't know evil! Had it not been for Eve, how perfect this land would be! As believers we still find all of His creations precious & valuable. Imagine when we are in Heaven how it will be!

    We had House Wren Birds nesting and breeding in a flowerpot in the wardrobe. This is now the 2nd brood in a year. Luckily the young animals are very safe!

      It is indeed the case. But I recorded this bird two times this year and it looks like it is this particular bird’s usual way that she takes care of the chicks alone. Rather strange.

    In my country Blackbirds lay 4+ eggs and both female and male stay on the eggs and both actively feed the chick's, it's more commun to find nests with 4+ eggs than just 2/1...

      Seems these birds usually lay 2, it's a very small nest. 3 chicks would be a madhouse. And with no help from dad, trouble ahead.

    Black birds are a Feral introduced bird to Australia and as such, are considered vermin and a threat to Native Species. HOWEVER, as a Native Australian, I L.O.V.E. to hear the Blackbirds singing in the dead of night. ☺I can't help it. ☺☺ thank you for posting.

      Cuz the chick emit sounds from inside the egg 1 or 2 days before hatching so the parent know the embryo is alive and continue to do so until/while hatching😉😉
