Wish someone would answer your question. I've asked before as well, will Jackie lay eggs anytime soon. I sure hope she will. I've been fascinated by these two...so happy to have tripped over their video in February 2024 and have been watching daily ever since from Vermilion, Ohio. Sharon Shneyer here, do we possibly know why the other 3 eggs didn't hatch? Admittedly I haven't watched the whole video yet, and I know that these sort of things do happen. Thank you. Sharon (is the Jay big enough to make it through the opening?) I'm sorry I have to do ask questions respond like this, but right now my name didn't come up to allow me to post, something that occasionally has happened in the past. GREAT VIDEO! @arlingtontrains7 Yes. Later on the kestrel started incubating her eggs and this egg too.
What happened to the eggs?
@margaretbuckner938 They were unviable and did not hatch. One egg broke and disappeared in the nest bowl. The second one was eaten by Jackie. The last one was hidden under fluff but two days ago a Steller's Jay broke its shell and Jackie came and ate this egg. There was no development in these eggs.

@@BirdlifeOdyssey I had noticed it a couple of times. Shadow didn’t have the same thing, so I just wondered where the scratches may have come from. Maybe just for her beak care. I’m new to this! Thanks!
Why do the jay birds get in the nest and forage? Are there bits of fish in there? And what does Fiona do in there? I am Australian so am not familiar with your birds and animals.
@artistocracy Yes. The jays and Fiona clean the nest. Jays do it during the day and Fiona does it at night. There are some parts of fish probably and some parts of eggshells. Last time the Jay pecked at the last egg (the one hidden under fluff) and took a part of the eggshell. Fiona took some parts of the eggshells too.

Now that’s the sweetest! Shadow provides lunch, nibbles abit himself, then shared with Jackie! They both worked hard for that meal! Talk about “ teamwork “! 👌😀. Ha! Ha! It’s like they are getting any crumbs, leftovers, of that yummy fish, off their floor! Then it’s like, they take alittle time together in the roust tree , after filling up their belly’s!
