Bald eagles Jackie and Shadow 🦅🦅❤️ What a snowy and windy day! Jackie always insists on incubating eggs in bad weather conditions. She is brave and very persistent. What a wonderful dedicated and loving mum she is. She covers the eggs with her wings to protect them (Mombrella).
You'll see Jackie completely covered in snow on 30th March 2024.

Jackie, is the master of the nest, she will stay if she is buried under the snow for days! Shadow in mean time is somewhere on the snag tree, with his head borrowed into his wing keeping warm. Jackie is the mother of all mother birds!

Bless her heart!! When i got up this morning, and checked in on her, i couldn't even tell for sure if she was there!!! She was almost completely covered. At 1 point later, all i could see was a little hole where it looked like she kept breathing out! :o/ That girl... i know why Shadow fought early to win her love... :o) She is a winner... i love these 2 so much!! and i love you for sharing wonderful moments with them!!! She’s probably relaxed and warm when she’s buried in the snow. Doesn’t have to be so on guard, and the snow is trapping her body heat. Just a shame no eaglets could come into this world from all her hard work. At least tons of people got to see it, and have newfound respect for bald eagles.

Jackie once sat through a snowstorm for 64 hours. She is no stranger to this kind of weather. So strong and resilient. It’s how they were created. ♥️🙏🦅

They are so smart,❤❤😂😂 shek new the storm was going to be different this time and spread her wings to protect them more. Also she would have given up the nest by now if she didnt think her eggs wouldnt hatch.
Birds nest based on specific hormonal levels. As the hormones drop they will lose interest in incubating the eggs. The eggs are sadly unviable.

I feel so badly for Jackie. This has been an awful winter. She sits there, covered in snow and without food. Is Shadow unable to fly in the blizzard?
Jackie insists on incubating eggs in bad weather conditions and Shadow knows that. However, this time, Shadow changed Jackie later in the afternoon.
Ms. Jackie must be very hungry. I know she has done this before for over 60 hours but she needs food to be able to sustain this weather. Shadow is down the street in a covered hut eating frogs legs and watching Jackie on CCTV provided by FOBBVCAM.

The weather is not favorable this year.
You cannot turn your back on this weather! Crazy and dangerous and yet beautiful at the same time. This poor bird couple. Those sweet little, never had a chance, eggs! Heartbreaking. They are staying with those eggs because they sense the weather before the local weatherman does. Before NOAA. So they know they have to protect what they may have given up on. I am so in love with these birds. Another example how the weather effects wildlife. They know to save the young. Perhaps they knew it was time to leave-I think they did. But they sense weather change-so back to the nest. The weather is messing with wildlife this way. Migration should be taking place. Tulips that were blooming are being covered. But, this planet always moves forward no matter what. Every human could disappear, but animals will always be here. And they will certainly clean up our mess. I am so grateful for this Live Cam footage. Humans need to fall in love with wildlife. It is not just Jackie and Shadow. This plays out all over the earth.

At what point will they abandon the eggs? And if/when they do, what happens to the eggs? This is fascinating
It is a gradual process. It can last a few days or weeks. It is different each time. We will see.
When they leave the eggs, they will either become part of the nest or will be eaten by other birds such as ravens or woodpeckers.

No, they wouldn't be on an empty nest. Nests are only for eggs and babies. They don't stay there otherwise.

Jackie always incubates eggs in bad weather conditions and does not let Shadow do it. Today in the afternoon she let Shadow change her on the nest.
How long will she wait for her babies to be born? Is there a way for her to know if there is anything wrong with them to not hatch? Knock on wood. I pray not!
The eggs are nonviable. They won't hatch. Jackie and Shadow will start slowly leaving the eggs unattended as their hormonal instinct to incubate goes away for the season.
