  • I invite you to watch a super cute Long-eared Owls' Family. It's a recap of events, interesting bird behaviors and cute moments from March to May 2024 from the day of choosing the nest box & the courtship to laying eggs, hatching and fast growing chicks (Tufties).

You'll see how the Long-eared Owls were choosing the nest box, a few food deliveries with a lovely food dance, eggs laying & 5 super cute chicks (Tufties).
You'll also see LEO's defense techniques and irritated eyes when a Kestrel living nearby attacks in order to make Mrs LEO leave. However, Mrs LEO is good at defending the nest, her eggs and chicks.
Mrs LEO is a brave and caring Mom. Mr LEO is a very good provider and brings a lot of prey. At this stage (12th May) Mom leaves the chicks alone for longer periods of time at night and goes hunting too. They both have to feed 5 hungry Tufties and they are doing their job great!
    Date: March - May 2024
    Place: Tiszavasvári, Hungary

Sharon, Nature Lover, this video is hard to look at if only because of the rodents, I think I will have to stop watching, though I appreciate your videos and had previously only heard of long eared owls
Recently I saw a mouse in an empty trash can on my block (which I occasionally use as do other people).
My first response was okay a mouse.
My second response was something a red tailed hawk would like to eat.
My third response was rodenticide, as I have seen a number of eagles succumb to its effects.

@ringdoorbell3223 Owls eat rodents so it is hard to expect something different. If you like eagles, you should know that apart from fish they also eat plenty of other animals, so it is normal to see birds of prey eat all kinds of prey.
I'm sorry if you don't like birds eating other animals but they have eat in order to live.
There is no cruelty shown in this video. I tried to show the best moments, their behaviors and the stages of their family life, chicks' development. There is nothing cruel or dramatic in here. This is a happy family with very cute looking owlets.
There will be videos about different birds on this channel. You can always find something for yourself.
      Thank you for your comment.

Oh, Nature Lover, I understand that completely. I know that birds have to eat other birds too survive. I see that all the time with the Harrisburg PA Falcon Cam that is on year round with 4 cams. There is a very good food source there, unfortunately I only get to see the pigeons (there is a chart type something for you to submit if you see other things delivered to the nest, so there must be other things that I have yet to see in all my years of watching, but I am sure the experts know otherwise.
I actually can handle the meat, but the feathers, that is hard to see, but there are 5 of them, they have crops like eagles and other raptors do, but know beak bonking or other behaviors that I have seen with eagles. I know they have a hard life, and survival is difficult, and humans are partly to blame.
I'll tell you what I am going to do (which I have done with other wildlife videos and figure skating things, I am going to save it to email so that when I am in a better place I will be able to watch it completely.
Be as safe as you can. Sharon
