I sit in my garage in little Watertown, Wi & still get to hear the great Bob Uecker call Brewers home games. 88 years young & still calls a great game with amazing stories.
Uecker is a class act. He makes baseball fun. He eats, sleeps and dreams of baseball. One funny guy and enjoys his work and life. A formula for sucess that we should all follow.
Uecker never down plays the Brewers even when they play like dung. He always keeps the spirit up, a lot of Broadcasters could take a lesson in this class act.
True story... My friend and neighbor Don Rowe (RIP) pitched for the Mets n 1963 and faced Koufax. Don said the first pitch was a fastball down the pipe. About 10' from the plate it was like the pitch exploded and accelerated onto the catchers glove. Strike one.... Don turned and asked the Dodgers catcher John Roseboro "What the hell was that?" John said "Don't worry about it. You are getting two more just like it." Don took two more strikes and went down looking, never taking the bat off his shoulder.
@3:20 "if its a good game, I'm not funny. If it is a bad game... I feel the need to entertain." is really perfect. Nobody, in 40 years, has accused him of being inappropriate, being a distraction, or putting the focus on himself. Great broadcaster.
Many people remember Bob's funny comments in Major League when the "Indians" were playing horribly. But at the end of the movie the "Indians" were fighting for the division lead and you got to see how Bob really calls a game, with excitement and enthusiasm.
Oh, but when they're bad, Uecker does exactly what he did in the movie, make fun of it all. When the Brewers were awful in the early 2000s I was listening to a game and they were losing 15-2 or something, so he decided to do a segment on elephant testicles.
Bob Uecker is to Milwaukee what Harry Caray was to Chicago, a broadcasting legend! I wonder who i'll get to meet first, Bob Uecker, or his TV daughter Heather (Tracy "Wells" Tofte) I'll be in Santa Clarita, CA. in September 2015, and will be back in the Chicago-Milwaukee area in June 2016.
When it was still Merle & Bob, Harry Caray was with Jimmy Piersall with the White Sox. Merle & Bob used to imitate them during Milwaukee-Chicago games. Funny as hell.
"Just A LITTLE OUTSIDE".Some One Once asked Him How He Caught Knucleballs. No Problem,He said,Just Waited Till It Hit The BackStop ,Scooped It Up & Threw It Back to the Picture".

I don't normally watch 10 minute youtube videos, but when I do it involves Bob Uecker.
Uecker is a national treasure. I hope he lives forever.
Amen
Yep-We are so glad he played one year here in Atlanta. As you said, a national treasure.
@theartfuldodger935
Brewers baseball would never be the same without him.
Bobs a great guy. Love hearing him talk
How can you not love this man. When you see others degrade the game it makes him even more special. He is baseball.
Always a pleasure to hear this man/legend.
I was born in 1971, in West Allis, WI. I grew up listening to Bob Uecker. There IS no other BREWERS Announcer. End of story.
Sacred town, named after the great Allis Chalmers
Fantastically entertaining guy! He maintained the perfect deadpan face while making hilarious comments instead of laughing at his own jokes.

Baseball will not be the same without Uecker and Scully.
Damn right. No one like him in baseball.
Thanks for making us laugh about what is now the very serious game of baseball
Brewers Baseball will never be the same without Bob when he leaves!
Never was a baseball fan. Love Bob Uecker ,a comedian sidetracked by baseball.
Thank you for posting and sharing, i enjoyed every minute of it.

I barely made it into his state last Friday 7-10-15 in P.P. Wisconsin (Pleasant Prairie)
I propose we name the new I-41 the Bob Uecker Freeway.
In addition to hitting home runs off HOFers Koufax and Gaylord Perry (as mentioned), he also hit a HR off HOFer Fergie Jenkins
How can there be 9 dislikes on this? So classic Bob.
Bobby hit 14 home runs 74 batted in. His mouth got him too hall of Fame status. What a far out awesome man. Man.

Great broadcaster.
Great line for Major League: comin' up is "Die-Hard" night, free admission to anyone who is alive the last time the Indians won a pennant.
You are Priceless keep it up
The Miller Lite Commercials were the best. What a treasure.
"front row!"
@@RJ1999x Bingo!! I must be in the front row!!!!
Bob Uecker is a Gem
did anybody watch the bob uecker bit on howard with norm macdonald n artie lange?
Bob hit 2 home runs off Ray Sadecki of the Giants in 66 when he hit half his career home runs
Can anyone intimidate Bob? I don't think so. He just does his thing.
Euek is a genius…..his stories are legendary, I’d love to play golf with him….and I hate golf…….
85 and still sharp as a razor. Bellowing out da crew game play by play.

First time I knew of Bob Uecker was in those old Lite beer commercials.
"front row"
A real fan will take a Uecker seat before missing a game. JMHO
"You're in the wrong seat, buddy."
Great news Bob
Norm brought me to Bob.

Legend. Dude is hilarious

Harry Carey was THE Cardinal broadcaster, to me. His failure to 'pound a Bud' for Auggie Busch, got him canned.
When it was still Merle & Bob, Harry Caray was with Jimmy Piersall with the White Sox. Merle & Bob used to imitate them during Milwaukee-Chicago games. Funny as hell.
Always leave them smiling
"You're in the wrong seat, buddy."

Love Uke! Yo Bob. Maybe your statue is there to catch all the graffiti
Bob Uecker is also a very funny announcer
Hey, what’s Keith Olbermann up to these days?

"Just A LITTLE OUTSIDE".Some One Once asked Him How He Caught Knucleballs. No Problem,He said,Just Waited Till It Hit The BackStop ,Scooped It Up & Threw It Back to the Picture".
Actually he said "I waited until it stopped rolling and then picked it up".
Mr. Baseball says it all.
Umm what about the bird droppings now who’s going to clean that off of the Bob’s statue
