She's there until about 6 pm each weekday, and I think on Saturday also. She'll be there probably for the next six months before she goes back to Richmond Night Market for the summer season.
Mmmm...LOVE the melt in your mouth, heavenly 호떡 (hotteok, pronounced hote-duk) and delicious 붕어빵 (Bungeo-ppang, pronounced boong-uh-pong). I have no doubt that this lady's version of hotteok is perfect---not dry or too oily---the way I remembered them to be in Korea a while back. These days, a lot of the hotteok vendors in Korea drown the hotteok in A LOT of oil. I would definitely be a regular, and I look forward to my first visit to whichever location she's at depending on the season (as mentioned below). ^_^ Thank you generous kimchiman for sharing the video. And thank you multi-tasking, beautiful, and friendly hotteok lady for taking a courageous and BOLD stepping stone of success to be the first to sell this amazing Korean snack there, giving all the opportunity to stop by, explore, and enjoy! :-D I highly respect and admire that you followed your Heart's guidance---your path of excitement and passion. May your business flourish like your positive outlook on life!
Don't you just LOVE when auto-correction completely changes what you tried to say? Nothing personal, but it's nice to see that I'm not the only one that it happens to! ;-)
4501 North Road, Burnaby. She is located next to the lower parking lot, in the outside covered area near the middle of the building. I think she's only there until 5 or 6 pm, and is not there on Sundays or during summer months. In the summer she relocates to the Richmond Night Market.
oh my goodness, where is this in vancouver??? if you go to the han nam super market in surrey, they have a small stall that sells the hungeobbang, and you can choose blueberry, red bean or chocolate. =)
Unless the lady from Hannam in Bby has moved to the surrey location (does her cart say '오병 이어' on the front?), then I have to say that the lady at the Bby location (who usually relocates to the Richmond Night Market during the summer months) make better 호떡. I tried the ones that someone at the Surrey location was making a few years ago, but it wasn't nearly as good, and I never went back to try hers again. But that was then, and.... I'm glad that at least there's 호떡 on the map here somewhere!
Yes she is. As a matter of fact, if I'm reading my watch correctly, she'll be there for about another 45 minutes. She's there Monday to Saturday, until 6 PM. I have no idea what time she sets up shop in the morning, but I'd guess probably late in the morning, like around ten or eleven. In the summer months she moves to the Richmond Night Market. I've never bothered to follow her there, as I prefer to go without until fall comes; makes it more special that way. A very nice lady, I might add.
If you went on a Sunday then she won't be there. And I don't know exactly when, but at some point in the spring time she relocates over to the Richmond Night Market. So if you go on a weekday and she isn't there, she'll probably be at the night market. She doesn't come back to the 한인 Shopping Center again until the fall.
No other recommendations. There is another 호떡 stand at the 한남 in Surrey (or there used to be). But I've never gone back there - their stuff just doesn't even come close to what this lady can make. She makes it like I remember it from when I lived in the Land of the Morning 김치.
@11111111113333333331 She's still there, but only until 6 PM, and not during the summer months. She goes over to the Richmond Night Market during the summer.
If anyone was wondering, a Korean youtuber on here has a very easy and delicious recipe for hoddeok. I usually make it when I want something sweet. You can see the recipe on her youtube account " Maangchi " or click this link to her website www.maangchi.com/recipe/hoddeok this recipe is not the vegetable one you see here but it's still worth a try.
I miss the hodduk, but I don't miss the calories. The best kind are the grease dripping on the outside, and inside is the brown sugar/honey dripping hot... oh god my mouth is watering.
We don't have any hotteok in toronto :( at least not that i know of. Honestly, Vancouver has A LOT more japanese and Korean food than toronto does, such a bummer
Perhaps not. But you DO have Rob Ford! I'm sure he eats a lot of 호떡. Maybe you could persuade him to bring some back with him when he returns from one of his now world famous excursions. Hey - it can't hurt to ask the man.
Okay. I just watched the video. I didn't catch anything that I personally recognize as broken English. Perhaps it is because you heard me speaking a few Korean words with Korean pronunciation (or as close to Korean pronunciation as I can get). Sometimes I also speak Konglish, a type of English Korean mix. Perception has a lot to do with it as well. Because I look a certain way, some people expect me so speak a certain way.
@beatnix99 Funny that you should mention that. I remember when they went UP TO 25 cents; there was a clip in the news one evening about a bunch of school kids that were trying to organize a boycott against candy bars, in an effort to keep the price down. I still chuckle when I remember that. Yeah, I guess I was a bit flabbergasted. My Korean brain is still stuck in the mid '80s, LOL.
I know what you mean... In the early 80's I worked as a paperboy, working every morning 365 days a year with no days off and heading off to school after wards. I was paid something like $120-130 a month. It was a considerable sum back then. These days when I give my 13 year old daughter $100.00 for shopping, she looks at me and rolls her eyes. You should go back to Korea, you would not recognize it from your mid 80's perspective...LOL.
I can't believe you are flabbergasted by inflation... especially when you have not been to Korea for 25 yrs... I personally remember when snickers cost 25¢ here in the states...LOL
You know something? You've inadvertently taken me on quite a trip around RUclips since yesterday. I went to your channel, out of curiosity, and saw your list of videos that you commented on. I expected to have a quick look and be back in 30 seconds. Instead, I found out about Britain's fattest man, Abby and Brittany Hensel, and a whole host of other unusual and fascinating videos. Took me quite by surprise - thanks for the accidental entertainment! And thanks also for the comment.
아주머니 영어잘하신당~대화가되니 저기까지 가서 열일하시징~ㅋ

Just keep in mind that she is not at that location during the summer months.

Yes. It is near Vancouver, BC (West Canada). Also, she is a very nice lady. Her 호떡 is like I remember from Korea.
oh my goodness, where is this in vancouver??? if you go to the han nam super market in surrey, they have a small stall that sells the hungeobbang, and you can choose blueberry, red bean or chocolate. =)
Wow, her multi-tasking is amazing!!
I went to see her today to get my carp bread fix. Yum Yum. The prices have gone up now but it makes sense since everything is so expensive now.
Is she selling hoddtok in Vancouver, still now?

yes, heard from the video she is the only one selling that in Vancouver.
LOL - there are probably thousands of them in Busan! But I'm glad you found one that's good.
