Maybe the best Viderøe's video ... ever. We could see and feel some reactions the pilot and co pilot got during the trip. Besides, the landscape and the music gave a final touch. Applause 👏👏👏
"Sandane airport is featured on a list of the worlds 10 most dangerous airports, particularly due to the difficult approach and short runway which drops into the sea at both ends."...nothing a Dash-8 can't handle!
Many aircraft's SOPs demand both pilots put their hands on/by the throttles when setting takeoff thrust and when rolling. There's few reasons why: This aircraft lacks auto throttle, which means that the exact takeoff power needs to be finely adjusted manually during the roll. The pilot flying (PF) should keep his eyes mostly outside, so the pilot not flying (PNF) assists making sure the power settings are correct. At the same time, the pilot flying is also managing the energy in the aircraft, i.e. manipulating the throttles, so he can abort the takeoff or level out shortly after takeoff. There's also a lack of a FADEC in the classic series Dash 8s, so you risk over torquing should the handles travel too far, causing damage to the engines. There's a lot of vibrations going on in the aircraft, so with worn out or wrongly set friciton locks the handles could also travel without input if left alone. This could also lead to over torque, or perhaps worse, an underpowered thrust setting on a runway that is 1000m or shorter.
Short runway. Only 970 m. Steep approach so that you don't eat up too much runway from screen height and down. Also, screen height is lowered from 50 to 35 ft.
Noise cancelling headsets. The pilots speak with normal conversation volume in an otherwise very noisy environment, so a mic that's not in direct contact with the mouth won't register the voice.
There's no other way of doing it, coming from the south east to RWY 08. High mountains directly in the extended centerline, as you can see to the left just before they start the final turn. Well you COULD do an overhead, and into a left circuit. But it takes mor time. And were's the fun in that? 🙃
Have no idea why I love this aircraft so much... Worked around them at Red Deer Regional Airport in Alberta totally miss it.
What I absolutely love about the Dash is the sound when you give it a little thrust and then reduce it as on 4:40. That sound is pure orgasm.
Idk why I love the dash 8 100 too lol
I was like.. wow, that's a short runway to land!!! Beautifully done
I thought that approach was pretty quick? Isn't the air speed a little high?
I've learned thumb up means all is OK! 😎
04:47 man I love that sound
Correct 👍, only from that four- bladed engines.
Great video, amazing scenery, nice flying. This is even more interesting to me now, that I'm about to start flying the Dash 8-100/300
@Frank Farmer Sure am. Still flying. I'm not on the Dash 8 anymore, but still with the same company. Life is good.
Excellent flying, scenery, and the capture. Nice touch on fading the music on takeoff and landing. Thank you.
Amazing how sync the crew work !
You can feel safe if you take a flight in Norway, when this pandemic is over! God Påske!
Beautiful scenery. Great flying.

Applause 👏👏👏
Just flew this route in MSFS 2020 and boy was that landing tricky! Also had a 20 knot x-wind which didn't help
That bank angle 🫡
Very very nice Video, Thank you so much. 🤗👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
crazy bank angle on short final
My favorite Widerøe video!
Cool video! Great job! 👍👍👍👍👍
Good video and greetings from germany :-)
Ouch, looks like a hard landing. Awesome flight though ;)
Beautiful footage!! Just subscribed to your channel. Greets from EDHE!
Holy Cow man…PW123’s have the best beta range EVER 0:16
nice :) im flying this alot in flight simulator X. Same route over and over again :P
Excellent, very good pilots!
Excelent, well alamost, sooner here the engine noise than the music. Not crtisising Lamaitrre's club mix jut the intrusion.
Beautifull, but please, no music!
Nice video !
I just tried it on my Flight Sim, it's a HARD approach... and no, I didn't make it, I used a King Air 350
He overshoot the finals.
But anyhow it was a great video..💪
"Sandane airport is featured on a list of the worlds 10 most dangerous airports, particularly due to the difficult approach and short runway which drops into the sea at both ends."...nothing a Dash-8 can't handle!
What is the FO indicating with his right thumb up from 5:11 until shutdown?
Sorry, I meant LEFT thumb up.
+FTStratLP He's indicating that the right wing is clear of obstacles
I love this video!
Why the music?! Nice video but the music Aaahhh!
Who is piloting, Charlie Sheen??
Dere helter som fører dette flyet vet hva dere skal stemme i 2017!
Favourite Airline
Favourite Air Frame
Nice video, by the way, can you tell me whose sound track is that and which music it is please?
Hernani Modesto Cut to black- lemaitre LOL
Great video but I would prefer sounds from cockpit instead that soundtrack
I would too, but unfortunately I'd covered the mic with my hand so the video has no sound before the music stops.
Great video! Music is better than engine noise 😊
@@sunniva5335 Dash 8-100 engine sound is like a Mozart concert, especially when reversing!
Great aircraft!!!
I love dash 8s
Why should two pilots simultaneously hold the throttle ?
Many aircraft's SOPs demand both pilots put their hands on/by the throttles when setting takeoff thrust and when rolling. There's few reasons why: This aircraft lacks auto throttle, which means that the exact takeoff power needs to be finely adjusted manually during the roll. hi , amazing video , does the FO never get to fly the approach and landing or it's just in this video
CA and FO alternate flying duties, generally leg by leg. In this case the FO would have flown the return leg.
Super~!
I landed an Antonov 225 on flight simulator x there xD
What is he indicating at 5:44 ?
To connect ground power and chocks
Gear up real quick 🙂
Why the approach so steep?
Short runway. Only 970 m. Steep approach so that you don't eat up too much runway from screen height and down. Also, screen height is lowered from 50 to 35 ft.
Flott video! Comm med twr: WF937… Det er jo rutenr på Finnmarka.
no callouts at all?
Noise cancelling headsets.
The pilots speak with normal conversation volume in an otherwise very noisy environment, so a mic that's not in direct contact with the mouth won't register the voice.
was that music really neccessary?
Tanle fan sound
Bit of late turn
There's no other way of doing it, coming from the south east to RWY 08. High mountains directly in the extended centerline, as you can see to the left just before they start the final turn.

Another good video... ruined by MUZAK.
Stupid music spoiled everything.
Turned a bit late
It's about a 110° turn. It takes time.
