That flight was like a Zen meditation! Due in part to the calm, affable and professional Captain and FO. As an Australian, I love this part of the world to visit!
Thank you for the memories....I retired from Jazz in 2010, as a flight attendant, based at YYJ, then to YVR. How true all the flight crews were/are professional, and I was proud to work with them. I do miss it all, (some bits one can forget ), I never tired of that short trip, sometimes five return flights in a shift. Thank you again.
With a Masters degree in Physics l worked on both the prop and engine electronic control (ECU) software design and coding. I was 28. Now I'm 68. So long ago. Loved it
Love it!! Back in the mid-70s I flew YVR-YYJ on a Piggly-Wiggly/Pray-While-Aloft (Pacific Western Airlines) B737-200. The Captain came on and announced that “we will climb to our enroute altitude of 25000 feet...” I thought...Huh? HOLY CRAP he wasn’t kidding! Climbing out of YVR was slam back in your seat and hang on! Reach 250...almost a negative G over the top for descent!...and it was a LONG DESCENT! What a RUSH for a teenager!🚀
Great stuff! Always nice to see some content from my local airport on a big aviation channel. Hard to believe that 737s and A319s also flew this route.
I remember a Doug Catterall who did my instrument ride out of YWG when he was at TC. He was one of the youngest TC inspectors I have ever met...and I still remember an analogy he offered up... "you can live life having all your meals delivered under the bathroom door...." I had never heard such a comment before and it stuck with me. Lucky F/O who gets to fly with Captain Catterall!
Rudy that is Mt Baker just before take off about 100 miles to the east, I suspect that it was filmed around 10 years ago. FYI CYCD to CYVR is the shortest flight Jazz does on the West Coast at just under 10 mins if ATC gives a direct route.
JP....Hello! Great pilots....absolutely first class! Iwill fly with them.... very enjoyed this vid JP! Many thanks for filming this.....stay safe and have a nice day;) Lovely greetings.....Betsy.
That was awesome!! I've been to Vancouver, and Victoria. Both are incredibly beautiful. Thank you for sharing this video. Very enjoyable. Have a great day, and safe journeys. 👍👍
I have flown the SFO-STS being 15 min long many times. The shortest flight in the states. I have also flown the PHL to AVP route many times which is also quite short!
Beautiful view outside these windows, awesome takeoff and landing that sounds amazing, and great pilots. I did enjoy listening to these pilots, and this aircraft is amazing as well. Very short flight, but that view is amazing. Awesome video; I love it.
It's cool as a Victorian pilot to watch a RUclips video that features one of our controllers in the tower that we hear every work day. Just yesterday was on a flight with a student, same controller in the tower as you hear on the radio here working both outer and inner tower, and he was dealing with an exceptionally crazy amount of traffic. Had 4 VFR guys circling over Brentwood, Deep Cove, Swartz Bay, and Cowichan all while dealing with 3 IFR departures and 3 IFR arrivals at the same time. Was listening to see if I could hear any other people I recognize from around here, but seemed like it was a relatively non busy time that day and it was probably recorded so long ago that most people who were there then are no longer working here today.
Dash 8 my love... as supervisor in apron area I used to direct a ton of flight for Croatia Airlines which connects Rome to Croatia with D-8... a great pleasure.
Would be helpful if you could include the date of the flights in your video descriptions. When were these flights? I expect it's some time ago as they refer to the Dash 8-100 which Jazz retired some time ago, and recently announced that their Dash 8-300s are also being retired soon, leaving only the Q400s.
This flight most likely occurred way long ago, probably years. Flightaware doesn't show a JZA161 flight in the last 5 months, and it wasn't this route. This route is now occupied by JZA8069 and others
How about a video on the flight to downtown Victoria on one of the floatplanes. I enjoyed that very much, super weather, sitting in front with the pilot, at a nice, low flight altitude. Beats the Dash flights into Sydney!
OK, *everyone* is saying what I would say, so... Ende! ;-) I remember flying over there for coffee and pie, in a Cherokee 235 and once in a Navajo. :-)
James Bay project flying a single Otter. Removing old fuel drums from an abandoned site 4 miles away over a mountain. All day every day for 3 weeks. The ripples on the lake barely had a chance to dissipate.
Kind of curious what year this was recorded? The Q100s aren't in service with AC anymore and the liveries of all the other Jazz aircraft look to be older as well as the Cargojet 727 which we never see at YVR anymore :(
At the very end.... Don't tell people how Nice it is in Victoria, or else Everybody will want to live here! I'm originally from Manitoba, and now I get to tease my relatives about the Winter Weather here in Victoria. There's not many other places in Canada where it's very Rare to get Snow in the winter, and if we do get some, it only lasts for 1 or 2 weeks!
Shortest flight iv been on is westray to papa westray, took around 90 seconds 😂😂😂 the orkney island flight in Scotland between westray and papa westray hold the world record for shortest flight of 57 seconds
I trained at YYJ, and I wonder where all the traffic is on this video. Not unusual to be in the circuit #3 or #4, and to have the Dash8s take an intersecting arrival onto Rwy 13 (now 14).
I did this flight round trip on a Q400. Just seems so pointless. Cruise was 4000’ to YYJ and 5000’ back to YVR, 5 mins and 6 mins flying time, respectively. The amount of VFR traffic was far more numerous than I expected.
Was driving me nuts too haha. The "observer" audio panel for the jumpseat which they would have had their recorder plugged into for the interphone/atc likely had the button pushed in by accident.
LOLOLOL I flew that route on 732's many times. Long before the prop jobs did it.The shortest flight ever for myself was YEG to YXD. The Edmonton International to the Edmonton Municipal approx 15 nautical miles to the North. This in a 732 as well.

Very true Greg
True that!
Captain comes across as having a ton of respect for the FO. Great crew and such high professionalism despite a short flight.
That's the company culture at Jazz.
He's Canadian!

My grandfather was on the design team for both the Dash-7 and Dash-8. Thanks for posting this.
This was the route I flew on my very first day as an airline pilot. It's been a year without flying now... Miss it a lot!
Absolutely love the mighty Dash 8
Ya very cool airplane indeed. Thanks
I've flown into YYJ over 40 times and never get tired of seeing the Gulf Islands from the air.
Wow that’s a good amount and yes it looks like a very scenic flight.
