@@Adventureman_Dan this is somewhat OT but have you been following the new Starlink service options? I'm waiting for the hardware to show up (so still mostly unhatched eggs, no chickens) but if it works even 1/2 as claimed (given that an unobstructed view of the sky from the deck of a 44' sailboat is a contradiction in terms) it will enable me to make passages without giving up my day job. Network has been the hard stop.
I get that there are many other considerations, like skill, knowledge, endurance, vessel just to name a few -- does experience sufficiently offset the consequences of aging? I think cruisers in their 60's are more common than those in their 30's (which doesn't really answer my rhetorical question, but, objectively, it is encouraging.) The point I'm belaboring is that I would never undertake this lightly... and would never seek external validation, sight unseen.
Anyways, this is mostly a heads up, the game has changed in a big way in the last few days, so if you don't have a finger on this pulse, you might want to check into it. (Short version: new maritime option, $250/month, 50GB/month cap, $2/GB overage, 40-220 mpbs down, 8-25 mbps up... no I am not a reseller... not spamming, just having difficulty containing my excitement!)
Have a good one, stay safe! :-)
