    It’s good to see cruiser’s giving a review of where to go when checking in to a new spot. You should get some good discount for your provisions with that advertising. Lol

    Davy and Erika, Alex here. As literally the first person to welcome you to Luperon when you limped in and we were both quarantined in the outer harbor, thank you for this video, really nice job. To everyone else, I've been cruising for 10 years with about 30k offshore miles under my belt and have been through Luperona few times. It's one of my favorite places on the planet, so much so that I bought a house here. In the Caribbean one of it's primary strengths is that it is NOT a tourist stop. No super yachts, no gold bejeweled "cruisers" asking where to buy foie gras. It's authentic and warm, diverse and friendly, with so much to do and see. Despite occasional reports to the contrary, it's safer than 99% of other places and far more interesting. Davy and Erika, fair winds and safe travels, hope we see you back here someday. :)

    Better check with your Insurance company where you can stay during hurecan season

    • @BarefootTravels
      @BarefootTravels  2 года назад +1

      We are self insured.
      But there are a few people who have stayed many years in Luperon who know about insurance companies that will cover you

    • @sailingsvcaterpillar4672
      @sailingsvcaterpillar4672 2 года назад +2

      Yes, definitely, if you have insurance you must be sure they will cover you wherever you are. Having said that, our policy did not automatically include that area, but when we called and asked, they covered us without any issues. It's well documented how safe it is there.

    • @BarefootTravels

      Well the yard isn’t open from what we know. And it was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Very bad management, threats and just an all around bad time.

    Great video :) Thanks.
    Can you tell mooring prices for you or for a 40 ish foot cat?
    How far is there to “open water” where you var dive, freedive ect?

    • @BarefootTravels
      @BarefootTravels  2 года назад

      Moorings are about $75 US per month.
      It’s not to far to open water just outside the entrance their is some great diving! Even some cannons to explore

    How long of a stay can a cruiser apply for?

    • @BarefootTravels
      @BarefootTravels  7 месяцев назад +1

      You get 30 days on arrival. You can stay as long as you want though. When you leave you just have to pay an overstay amount.

    As I am about to sail to Luperon at the end of June 2024, would you recommend that I get a reservation for a mooring ball for a 6 month stay?
    If so, do you have a contact person to recommend that I should email?
    Thanks in advance
    Richard

    • @BarefootTravels

      When you arrive you can speak to Papo about a mooring.
      Or better yet … join the Luperon Sailors and Cruisers Facebook page. (We haven’t been to luperon for a while so not sure if we have the most current numbers etc)

      Would I haul a boat out in this country again. No. As for coming to enjoy the bay and people yes I would.
