- In this weekly vlog of Barefoot Travels we show you why you SHOULD come to Luperon for Hurricane Season.
Luperon is a great place full of awesome people and lots of things to do, not only in Luperon but in the country, The Dominican Republic.
We have enjoyed nearly two years here and as our time comes to an end we want to give you a quick tour of town and tell you all about this place!

a good insight into Luperon , you have covered a lot cheers
Great video. I'm Dominican and I miss the mountains and the sun. I'm so sad.
good narration and content , keep up the good work
That’s the best tour of Luperon I’ve see. I’d like to get there some day
It’s really a good place.
Great idea for a behind the scenes video…. Thanks
All right I’m on way get a bunk ready for me 😆🍻🍻🍻😎
Always enjoy Davy's work but honestly Erica is my breath of fresh air. 💓
It’s good to see cruiser’s giving a review of where to go when checking in to a new spot. You should get some good discount for your provisions with that advertising. Lol
😆 I wish
Wow! It's amazing how much it has changed in such a relatively short time! We do miss it there!
Great video, thanks for the work you put in. I really hope to make it there one day. I'll be heading out next year for my 1st season in the Bahamas. Might not get to Luperon then but it's on my list, as well as Carriacou. 😁👍
Great and handy information. Thanks for sharing this sort of information.
GOOD TO KNOW :)
Amazing information for any one going to luperon! It seems there is a bar for each day of the week!!!
Pretty much yes!!
As long as you are there,
I definitely want to visit All the places around the Caribbean. Great job you two.
Thank you
what a great vid. Would like to see more on this style on other places and other channels. Sharing some local tips and knowledge. Thanks
Your welcome!!
You Kids are great Tour Guides⛵
Thanks!
Davy and Erika, Alex here. As literally the first person to welcome you to Luperon when you limped in and we were both quarantined in the outer harbor, thank you for this video, really nice job. To everyone else, I've been cruising for 10 years with about 30k offshore miles under my belt and have been through Luperona few times. It's one of my favorite places on the planet, so much so that I bought a house here. In the Caribbean one of it's primary strengths is that it is NOT a tourist stop. No super yachts, no gold bejeweled "cruisers" asking where to buy foie gras. It's authentic and warm, diverse and friendly, with so much to do and see. Despite occasional reports to the contrary, it's safer than 99% of other places and far more interesting. Davy and Erika, fair winds and safe travels, hope we see you back here someday. :)
Thank you Alex!
Great review... I'm sure you won't mind seeing where you hauled out in the rear view mirror! 😉 😁
😆
That was great, really enjoyed it, thanks. Ur both looking well, stay safe ok 🇦🇺🌈
Thank you!!
Wow..... well done Important info... thanks..
Your welcome!
Great vid! Thks!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You need to do a video like this for every destination y’all get too. Fascinating.
Thank you! We’ll try
Great guidance. 🙂
Thanks
Great video guys, been gone for a month and a half so brought me back h
Love it!
Great vid guys, enjoyed the tour through town. Good of you to highlight the where to get what👍
Thanks!
Are you still in Luperon? We just arrived a few days ago. Loving it so far. We'll head to Puerto Rico next.
No we left about 2 weeks ago
Enjoy it!
Better check with your Insurance company where you can stay during hurecan season
We are self insured.
But there are a few people who have stayed many years in Luperon who know about insurance companies that will cover you
Yes, definitely, if you have insurance you must be sure they will cover you wherever you are. Having said that, our policy did not automatically include that area, but when we called and asked, they covered us without any issues. It's well documented how safe it is there.
I do respect every opinion. But Luperon is a peace of paradise and off course depends what you are looking for
Bums did a refit there and it seemed ok
It’s a great town. Would never haul out again here but the town is awesome!
@@BarefootTravels and why is that?
Well the yard isn’t open from what we know. And it was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Very bad management, threats and just an all around bad time.
Great video :) Thanks.
Can you tell mooring prices for you or for a 40 ish foot cat?
How far is there to “open water” where you var dive, freedive ect?
Moorings are about $75 US per month.
It’s not to far to open water just outside the entrance their is some great diving! Even some cannons to explore
Once again thanks for your answers :)
Gonna see this vid a couple of times :)
Yay first again
Crack on shorty
Cheers!
Sounds like your saying goodbye to Luperon , where's the next adventure ?
Bahamas
@@BarefootTravels Nice !
How long of a stay can a cruiser apply for?
You get 30 days on arrival. You can stay as long as you want though. When you leave you just have to pay an overstay amount.
As I am about to sail to Luperon at the end of June 2024, would you recommend that I get a reservation for a mooring ball for a 6 month stay?
If so, do you have a contact person to recommend that I should email?
Thanks in advance
Richard
When you arrive you can speak to Papo about a mooring.
Or better yet … join the Luperon Sailors and Cruisers Facebook page. (We haven’t been to luperon for a while so not sure if we have the most current numbers etc)
@@BarefootTravels thanks
Be careful of thieves breaking into your boat, the cops ignore following up in Luperon.
Recently there was a boat robbery and the cops did a lot to help find everything that was stolen ……. There is good and bad to every place we travel. Choose to see the good.
@@BarefootTravels lucky for you, they must've changed their attitude after many complaints. Enjoy your sailing 👍👍⛵
Just saw the title to the vid and have to wonder who is holding the gun to your head. having seen the trouble you guys and other cruisers have had in that place, I wouldn't go near it.
It’s really not that bad. There is good and bad to every spot.
Would I haul a boat out in this country again. No. As for coming to enjoy the bay and people yes I would.
Luperon looks like a better hurricane hole than Miami Marine Stadium…
