Another excellent video! You are a pro. How deep of a rut can you fill in one pass when leveling? I have about a 4 foot round dip in St Augustine that is a good 4 inches deep. The high edges get scalped when it's mowed. I'm afraid to kill the grass if I fill it all at once. Also, are you located in north GA?

Trying to keep busy in the lawn of late , with fertilizer and other chemical applications off the table the next 3 or 4 weeks , being I have a cool season lawn. So trying to be proactive with biochar every 3 weeks or so and just put my second application of Hydretain (that I got from the Golf Course Lawn Store) in the meantime. And I just recently noticed a new dip in the lawn about a foot off my retaining wall that runs along the driveway. This has caused some washboarding and unintentional scalping due to the height difference and unevenness. Being how hot and dry it was for a few months in my area , the fact we have been getting more rain with some strong storms of late could have caused this ; especially since near that retaining wall water can pool up at times from a lot of rain. Def will be using the tips and info in this vid and your other vids on the subject Ron to get after some leveling in the next week or so , in the run up to my big September overseeding project.
Sorry you’re dealing with that washout problem Alex. This vid and my others on top dressing should be helpful though. Hydretain is a great idea this time of year. Appreciate you watching.
@@RonHenry , def a problem spot in the yard. A positive is from the influx of rain we have gotten from about early / mid July until now the lawn rebounded nicely and have had to mow much more. That one area is always a rough spot , the yard slightly pitched that way and up against such a hard surface (the retaining wall) the water seemingly has nowhere to go , so I suppose that is why it occasionally pools water in that spot when it rains a lot. And coming from dry likely slightly compacted soil (due to the previous extended heat and dry conditions) to some deluges so abruptly probably worsened it even more. I often have to level that area and give it some extra topdressing but think that area needs a bit more attention at the moment. I tend to go with more topsoil in general with some sand mixed in for topdressing since my lawn does not typically do as well the more sand I put down. But in that area I think I am going to start going a bit heavier with the sand for drainage and to help the ground to maintain its shape in that spot.
Kudos to your commitment to your yard. I'm jealous of the yard, but mine's green, lol, good enough! Too busy for all the work it would take to make my grass look like a golf course...
