- With my previous video on How To: Restore Plastic Trim, I thought it was about time I revisited this with a permanent fix.
As I mention in the video, this is a very common problem on ageing cars, especially Porsche!
Heres a bit more on Gtechniq C4:
"...C4 utilises a chemical bond to become an extension of the plastic molecule it is protecting.
The coating swaps part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car’s trim. This means that you have a protective coating of unparalleled durability.
Unlike many trim products on the market, C4 is exceptionally thin (circa 30 nanometers) optically clear film - this means it will not add an unattractive gloss finish to the surface. Instead, it restores all, but the most faded trim to an ‘as new’ condition. It is ideal for new trim, helping to prevent fading..."
Heres a link if you want to pick up a bottle of Gtechniq C4 for youself:

As always thank you for watching!

I hear the Gtechniq sticker gives you more bhp haha? Great vid mate! Keep them coming.
It's True!
I've heard an extra 25hp per sticker!!
You can't beat nicely finished trim 👌
Super job.
Great to see you back, incredible the quality of how the plastic now looks, more video's would e a good thing though Jo.
Thanks Paul!
Very accurate presentation to a great product. I love this way more than any other trim restorer product on the market that really seems to just be a tire dressing for plastics. Prep is key as you said and if I'm working indoors I wear a mask since the fumes are strong. I love how you described the process at one point as 'give it a tickle', LOL. You crack me up Joe. Two thumbs up as always.
Thanks dude!!!
I found this product is the best one I had use in many yrs.
Sold to me Joe , def. ordering some of this !!! Cheers pal
Pleasure!
Can’t wait to try this out. I hate faded trim!
Lovely video again Joe, thank you 👍
Always a pleasure!
Hi Joe, another great video,I've used this myself and it went patchy,I think my prepping wasnt as good.but it done a brilliant job on this Porsche plastic trim.
That's interesting. Yeah maybe you are right.
Just like any coating, prep is key!
Very useful information on all your videos so please keep doing them great watch 👍
Hi Dave,
Thank you so much!
Please keep making videos! Just found your channel and your videos are really helpful.
Thanks you!
Good video, liked. This stuff is brilliant, it bought up my plastics and wingmirror triangles a treat on my Subaru, still doing very well after about a year by the way. Edit : I can also vouch for their C5 Wheel Armour, same application process basically, that coupled with 3 puffs of Gyeon Wet Coat after washing the wheels. This sees most brake dust come cleanly off with just a pressure rinse at the next wash. Never underestimate the power of the Kranzle lol
LOVE THIS!
Great video Joe. I have a similar contrast on my E46, Imola red paint and faded grey plastics so I may have to invest in some of this!
Yes! Do.
Will make such a difference!
Great video Joe, whats next???
I put some C4 on the trim on my 21 year old TT roadster years ago. I think 2013 and it still looks great. The car is a garage queen with less than 1000 miles a year plus the trim was decent in the first place but still, this stuff works!
Could not agree more. A good product that works!
Great, thank you.
Thanks for watching
Nice 🔥
Excellent demo, Joe. I've got loads of coatings for body and glass in my arsenal but none for trim. I generally use Carpro PERL, and for nastier fading, Solution Finish trim restorer. I love both, but was thinking... Would Gtechniq's trim restorer work over the top of Solution Finish, or would it be a waste of product to use both?
Yes your right.... Would be a waste to use both. One or the other my friend!
Nice short, concise video! Can C4 be used on a slightly faded dashboard?
Don't see why not .... Contact Gtechniq and ask!
Can you do another layer of this coating ?
is this difficult to apply? I see some people said the ceramic coating like Cerakote is difficult to apply to look evenly when it is cured
Hey joe great video, how long does the trim coating last looking for something with a longer protection than a few months thanks
Hi Scott,
You should be seeing 12 to 18 months at least out of this, sounds perfect for you!
@@JoeHuntley hi joe,
Thanks for the info seems like a great product to get me started with gtech
Nice video, thank you. Does it work with coloured plastics as well as black. My car has a red plastic cover over the spark plugs which is badly faded. Thanks 👍🏻
I haven't tried it but believe it would be good!
Yes it does
I presume this would also do the same on any fading plastic body work like a boxer van etc?
As long as it's just the exposed plastic and not paint that's faded, yes!
Joe
Great video Joe and a good product.
Just what I need for my Wife’s 2017Mini Cooper
What’s the durability of the product and will I get the marks I seem to get round trim and panel joins where the water runs over the trim? Many thanks Dave
I have no clue about this product but if the marks are on the plastic on the side of the hood oder in general near/under metal Body parts, then that’s probably not marks from water. Those are marks from the rust preservation compound from inside the hollow body parts. I have a 2018 Clubman and got those side trims replaced for new ones for free from BMW since those marks are practically non-removable. It’s a common problem. Cheers
Wow this dude smashed this reply better than I could Dave!
Durability should be a year to 18 months I find!
How easy does it wipe off of the paint or windows
Very easy as long as it doesn't cure!
Is this good for dashboard?
If it is a hard plastic I don't see why it wouldn't work. Maybe drop Gtechniq an email to confirm.
Joe
And yet no mention of how long this product lasts.
up to 2 years
This.
