    amzn.to/3SbrLa8
    Gtechniq say:
    "Unlike regular rain repellent coatings that adhere to the surface of the glass using relatively weak physical bonds, G1 uses a chemical bond which gives G1 unrivalled durability.
    G1 ClearVision Smart Glass is extremely durable, the hydrophobic function improves wet weather visibility helping to improve safety and eye strain. It also makes removing contaminants from the glass such as ice, bugs and tree sap much easier.
    G1 will only work on glass substrates and so, it will not work on modern headlight lenses which are made from polycarbonate. For these you will need to use G5 Water Repellent for Glass and Perspex.
    Choose the 15ml bottle for windscreens only, but the 100ml bottle if looking to use on all of your car’s glass.
    G1 is supplied with G2 Residue Remover."
    I say:
    This is a super easy to use glass Coating that any detailer can pick up and use with ease.
    This was the first detailing coating I ever used nearly ten years ago, and I'm still apply it to my cars now.
    I hope this video inspires you to detail your car and protect your glass!

      I think the haziness once you put the wipers on is a nuisance especially when driving at night and oncoming cars it takes a while to see clearly in front of you again. I find the beading very distracting and just prefer to use glass cleaner on the windshield and coat all side and rear windows.

      For your compound and polish, have a look at Meguiars D300 and M205 easy products that anyone can use and get great results!
      As for protect. If you can coat your paint or want to use wax. Colinite 845 is the best pound for pound wax! And maybe look at a base coat of menzerna power lock.

    Glass polishes usually uses cerium oxide as the abrasive and it's usually suspended in a water based solution, so just water can be used to rehydrate the polish. Also it's generally recommended to use a rayon pad on a polisher with your glass polish while being mindful to not let the window heat up to much and to move to another section to minimize any chance of thermally stressing the glass (water would help here too using an alcohol based solution would cool it off to quickly).
    I winced when you broke out the steel wool, but one thing you could have done in addition was to take a microfiber towl and something like a plastic putty scraper and using the cleaner push and run the towl in the upper window track to clean anything that was pushed up there.

    • @JoeHuntley
      @JoeHuntley  3 года назад

      Hi Johnathon.
      Yes I have used Rayon pads alot in the past however try to appeal to all where possible.
      Also the steel wool was a tip from a glass manufacturers so more than happy to use this! Give it a try
      Joe

    Thanks for the video. Not sure you mentioned this, but it needs 3 hours to cure after application and I would not recommend it in winter, best applied in a warm environment, no direct sunlight and no moisture for 3 hours. I do the windscreen with circular motion, then side-side and then up and down. 5 minutes between each coat. It lasts around a year if you do 10k miles pa. I've used it on all my customers cars since it was available. Judder on wiper blades is down to the angle of the blade, not the wiper itself. So just carefully bend the metal arm to tune out any judder. Most cars will need at least 30ml of G1 to do the job properly, especially if they have a sun roof or panoramic glass roof. Still, it's cheap as chips, so no biggie.

    Hey Joe, would suggest coating the glass roof of a Tesla Y with G1 or Crystal Serum Light with exo4 and how many coats if you state G1.
    Thanks for the advice and excellent video

    • @JoeHuntley
      @JoeHuntley  3 года назад

      Hi Dennis.
      For me I would go for G1. You will only need one coat due to the rood being a low impact area. It wouldn't hurt to have two layers but one is enough!
      I do love CSL and Exo but G1 on glass for me!

    Do you think you could get away with an IPA-water solution instead of G2? And if so, what % do you think would be ideal?
    I ordered it but only the G1 arrived and I don't wanna wait/pay more.
    Also, I'm willing to bet that only using an up/down motion during the final step (G2/ISO) would maximize the effectiveness of the coating as its essentially cutting/shaping microscopic valleys through the ceramic coating.

    I tried this product last year, it's a bit more durable than other brands I've tried so far, but it's just not good enough to justify the price at which they sell such a miniscule bottle that barely covers 1 full application on a medium-sized car. The 2 years durability they promise isn't realistic if you use your wipers at all.
    It's nice that you get a kit with the polish, but that tiny bottle of IPA they pretend is something special is a joke.
    They do a big bottle at a more reasonable price but it's not practical due to the short shelf life.

    G1 is crap. Makes your wipers judder and leaves a haze behind after every pass of the wipers - at night that really impairs vision. Before anyone starts talking about the wipers, they're brand new, as is the car and the G1 was applied properly to a brand new, spotless windscreen. Don't waste your money on this rubbish. Now I have the fun task of removing it.
