This was really well done. You brought up basically everything to do with the fight and went through it. With regards to the time itachi tagged nagato with amaterasu the reason the auto counter seems to do nothing may be due to itachi not being alive as the Edo counter is a result of them being forced to fight the living. Nagato himself also knew exactly when itachi was building up chakra for amaterasu so no matter how fast the attack was absorption chakra could have been put up in advance. Nagato also flat out stares at it, acknowledging that itachi broke free before he eventually fell of.
One mistake the video was ignoring is that white hair was "Tasked" to fight bee and Naruto. Itachi just reprogrammed himself thus, white hair didnt react at all. He did however acknowledge his chakra built imidietly. Red hair was under DIRECT control by Kabuto. So all the mistakes he did that the paths of pain did not are on Kabuto. He even confirms to not know of Nagatos insane sensory wich would have made it easy to see Itachi coming wich is how he got hit in the first place We also know: -Deva can speed up the pulling of chibaku significally, and Nagato not only has a better chibaku but had infinite chakra to just speed seal them all without worrying about stammina. -Deva harassed Six tailed Kyuubi mode so it couldnt blast the core. Nagato has lasers and rockets but Kabuto let him kick back and watch. -Nagato can fly forever, he has zero mobility issues as Edo and zero limits to speed because he can increase his speed like how the Deva path outran/flew six tails kyuubi mode wich was very very fast with a mix of the deva path and the bodies own speed to get close to the main body for chibaku. -In all pain fights his summonings scatter and stay mobile, kabuto had them positioned as sitting ducks and easy targets. -Kabuto never properly split the dog to avoid it being one shot. Aka just push off any burning parts as single dog just how Naruto uses kuramas chakra to catch and throw off amaterasu. It is also why the dogs vere so broken. They multiply by pain, but for some reason Kabuto chose not to split them. -That you just stand in a half Sussannoo from Madara, thus can be removed from it. Gravity pull should do the trick. -That if you have a sussannoo out and get removed this way the sussannoo has a cooldown until it dematerializes and can be used again. Aka Madara ( whos main abillty is sussannoo and was born a child soldier prodigy on a battlefield with top notch reaction speed) was to slow to ribcage or summon sussano in time and needed the preta path to counter Naruto. Thus being removed is a window to blast him. -Nagatos preta path is just a 360 shield he can pop off and absorb Amaterasu passively just how Kabuto used it to casually deny Naruto any chakra based attacks or push it off. -That the Rinnegan even resisted the infinite tsykoyumi, and a genius genjutsu master as Itachi would have tried those first with infinite chakra to quickly end the fight. Not nearly die.

And how you can't really take his edo fights as "All he can do" but "Things he could do". Pain shows us how he "Would do" stuff. And outside info like his insane sensory. A reference to "normal" Uzumaki sensory with Karin who could pinpoint people for team Taka all the time. And Nagato was the only one to find Kabuto who was so prepaired that no other sensory alive found him. And thats an insane feat given his red hair edos main issue was being suprised. And the mobility argument just looks dumb when you remember that the deva path allows you to not only float but boost your flight speed to a degree you outspeed six tailed kyuubi mode charging at you with killing intent. Obviously not Minato or Raikage speed, but more then enough to just stay out of range, or dodge most things.
I think something people over look drastically when referencing the Nagato vs Itachi, Naruto, and B fight is that from a writing perspective the Pain Arc had literally just ended not too long ago, so there was no way kishimoto was going to dedicate another long drawn out and full scale fight with nagato since he had JUST finished doing that shortly before. A lot of the reanimation fights were there basically as fluff and ended much quicker than they most likely truly would have realistically because Kishimoto wanted to show off so many different dead characters but also move along to Obito and Madara. So in my opinion, a lot of these reanimation fights are short, rushed, and sort of shoehorned in and do not necessarily do the fights justice. And it is also very easy to write a scenario where either of these characters stomps the other.
Its also EXTREMELY important to note 3 things. 1. White Hair Nagato didnt want to win, and idled alot. Alongside telling bee and Naruto what to do. He wasnt "programmed" to fighr or even gocus on Itachi wich is how edo work. Itachi suprisingly reprigrammed himself. 2. Grey eye Nagato after pushing anaterasu off was DIRECTLY under Kabutos control who had to rely on intel. Wich ment he never used his god level sensory, wich found Kabito in his barrier cave and tokd Itachi, thus could easily react and know the exsact location of people atound him. Kabuto stated he didnt know this. Wixh explains why he didnt have the rinnegan summonings move like Nagato did ad pain. That he didnt react to Itachi twice. That he didnt invinitely fly out of reach with tendo, ampt up the pulling speed of chibaku like he did as pain, didnt rocket abd laser harass them so they cant oeacefully charge their strongest jutsu or use his elemental realeases we know alive Nagato had from Jirayas statement. And that it was Kabutos fault for just parking him during the Chibaku. We literary see him harass Six tailed Kyuubi mode naruto when he tried to shoot the Chibaku and almost sealing full half kurama. But Kabuto had hin stand, watch and let them plan, charge and together take it out. 3. We never saw prime alive Nagato fight himself, and him never absorbing a bir of the chakra from the Bijuu he stored in the gedo to just rejuvenite himself and be a one man army us a bs plotthole after this Therfor to meassure Nagato we need to mix how he fought as pain to understand Nagatos strategic use of his abilities as well as use outside info like his insane sensory that if Karin can sense a whole big ass area, and Nagato found Kabuto miles away behind barriers he would 100% sense Itachis ambushes and react to it since he is fast enough to deal with bee and kcm1. So he can deal with Itachi. But can get a guess at how Nagato has no cooldowbs anymore unlike pain and thus in a 1v1 can oztlast, overpower and win mid difficulti at best. We also know: -The Rinnegan can resist the infinite Tsykoyumi. So a regular one should as well. A genjutsu expert such as Itachi would have also tried as edo with no chakra or stammina issues. -Amaterasu would be instantly absorbed or pushed off. -And gravity makes short work pulling Itachi out if even Madara can be thrown out of his half sussannoo. Meanwhile nothing Itachi does can do to much to him.
I honestly think this is where Kishimoto went in the wrong direction in the anime. Instead of having pointless fillers to stall the anime, he should have extended the fights and added relevant fights into the anime. For example the Madara vs Hashirama fight.

Kishimoto could have absolutely done it. He litteraly did exactly what you've described when it came to Obito and Madara during the war. We've got nearly the same story for the both of them, one right after another. I do agree that it was a mistake in term of story narrative-wise thought. And right next to Nagato we have Itachi and Kishimoto had no problem using this character even thought everything you said about Nagato / Pain could have been said about Itachi. However, it is also true that the reason why Kishimoto didn't bring Edo-Jiraya is because he wasn't confident in doing a good job with him. Kishimoto had a plan for Itachi. And clearly he didn't have much of one for Nagato, beyond showing what he could have been as he have not been handicaped. On a side note, I do think it is completely false that nothing interesting could have been done with Nagato. It's obviously a character that could have had some interesting confrontations with Obito or Madara (or even Tsunade) given their history and his character development at his death. Nagato being called along side Naruto a child of the prophecy is a total cop from the manga itself given how much more Naruto has done. Has Nagato actually done something during the war, it could have been better justified. But it is true that it would have been quite difficult to do, given that Nagato was under the control of Kabuto. Anyway, to put it quickly : Kishimoto could have made something interesting with Nagato, even something close to what happened with Pain wouldn't have necessary bother him. But I don't think he had much plan for Nagato.

Nagato wins high difficulty. The abilities from Tendo path are just way too difficult for Itachi to counter by himself. Itachi needed Bee and Naruto to help him destroy the planetary devastation.
Itachi has exploding shadow clones to punish universal pull and probably negs/resists almighty push with his Susanoo like how 6 tails naruto did to tendo pain. Planetary devastation is a problem, but it's not something that Nagato/Pain pulls out at the beginning of a fight, and also isn't exactly instant. I could also see a situation where Planetary Devastation activates and Itachi forces a draw by sealing Nagato with the Totsuka blade.

Itachi, didn't need naruto or be to help destroy the planetary devastation core. He didn't even go full power on the core. The susanoo that through the beads was only in its' upper body humanoid form. We know higher susanoo stages mean more power, so the beads itachi threw weren't at full power.
Itachi can just Izanagi the Chibaku Tensei. Then we go back to the manga fight. Nagato just used his ace. He is exhausted, recharging his chakra. Out of thin air, Izanagi makes Itachi pop out. And Nagato is sealed by the Susano blade. Nonetheless Nagato and Itachi arsenal are just ridiculous. They both have crazy techniques.
I'm curious why you'd believe Nagato allowing himself to be set on fire even matters. It's clearly an inadequate attack to deal with Nagato. He's edo and the attack was pointless other than hyping up Itachi breaking out of edo tensei, which was pretty damn cool. He literally just warned everyone that Itachi was preparing an attack as he sensed it. So he clearly knew the attack was coming and let it happen. He let it happen because it's harmless even if he were alive. You have someone like Ay u bothered by the flames and calmly cuts his hand off. Edo Nagato just oushes it off because it's not even worth dodging even if he could. The questions I have are this... why not absorb the jutsu and why is Kabuto interested so much in Shisui's eye that he's allowing any of this to go down. Who's alive that he would even care to use the ability? The other issue I have with, not the video but the people in the comments. This fight is beyond uneven. It's 3v1 Itachi clearly "blitzed " nagato by taking out the lizard. He did this while hiding and waiting until nagato was engaged with Naruto and Bee We never see Itachi fighting a serious Naruto or anything beyond base Bee. Bee is blitzed twice in base but still counters everything Itachi throws at him. The genjutsu shurikan attack, for example where he counters genjutsu and that attack should tell you that he's relative in power to Itachi. This interaction is always brushed aside to make itachi seem stronger. Literally during the fight, Kabuto is wondering what abilities Nagato has so he's clearly at a disadvantage...aka nerfed. Speaking of nerfed, Chiyo, Hiruzen, and Nagato are all brought back past their prime or broken but Itachi is brought back stronger than he was when he died. So you have a crippled Nagato completely drained from casting rebirth which killed him versus KCM Naruto and V2 Killer Bee which he easily dispatched. It's not debatable that Itachi struggled with a lesser version of Bee while Nagato completely removes him from the rest of the fight instantly. Again, what was the lariat really going to do to an edo? So is it really a blitz if you know you have the easiest dub against Bee up to that point. The last part of this absolutely ridiculous comparison is the fact that Itachi says they all need to throw their strongest attacks. Are we really suggesting a half susanno yasaka bead is as strong as a tailed beast bomb from full 8 tails killer Bee or that itachi can somehow toss out enough to escape chibaku tensei? Lastly, chap 552... Kabuto clearly states Itachi out maneuvered him by blinding the summons and that Nagato was not mobile enough. The anime makes it seem like that dust cloud was there forever but they destroy chibaku tensei and hiding once again, itachi pulls out Totsuka for the win. I'm now sure how or why anymore would interpret this as overpowering Nagato. Genjutsu wasn't even bothered with and Nagato, as shown in chap 551 can sense when Itachi is about to use his MS. They never once fight and nagato has better showings against Naruto and a stronger version of Bee. This would be an absolute stomp. I really do enjoy the fact that Itachi is basically the Batman of Naruto but people give him every advantage in the world every encounter when his only strength that remotely mattered in this fight was his ability to out smart Kabuto..

Itachi vs Pain 1. Itachi, Naruto & Bee Vs Nagato (controlled by Kabuto) There's a huge difference. Kabuto almost forgot about Chibaku. The real Nagato wouldn't have just stood there like a puppet. Nagato has sensory to spot Kabuto for Itachi to find. He'll easily spot Itachi nearby. Plus, Itachi had to remind Kabuto that Nagato had sensory. Itachi was finished when Nagato casted Chibaku (Planetary Devastation). The real Nagato wouldn't allow Itachi's Totsuka blade to reach the core too. 2. Naruto vs Pain = Pain (after Konoha destroyed) - Jiraiya's info - Prep time with 2 Sage clones - Needed help from Frog Sage to reverse summon Naruto's clones - Tsunade's slug advising Naruto, maybe healing too - Pain almost made Naruto lose hope when he pinned him down until Hinata SUPER triggered him. - Minato had to reseal for Naruto, and rebuild his confidence. - Naruto gained Sage mode after being saved by Minato. - Naruto fought drained Pain after destroying the whole damn village! - On top of all of this, Pain never attacked Naruto with the intention to kill. Naruto attacked purely to kill. Naruto would've been SUPER dead if it was truly 1 vs 1. They both were taught by Jiraiya, and came from the Uzumaki clan. Pain, "You and I are sibling disciples. As students of the same master, we ought to be able to understand one another." (A joke with truth) 3. Itachi Vs Pain = Pain Ultimately, it'll come down to who has more chakra, Nagato. Pain is too much of a powerhouse for Itachi to last. Itachi is finished once his Susano'o is gone, assuming he's nearly or is out of chakra. Think about how well Nagato was able to control the Six Paths simultaneously. Even Pain's puppet uses advanced technologies greater than ours, like lasers and homing missiles. Amaterasu will do absolutely nothing because it'll get absorbed or pulled off immediately! Not to mention, Amaterasu could get absorbed with a scroll, like how Jiraiya did after Itachi and Kisame ran away from Jiraiya's jutsu. I'm sure Jiraiya taught him about it. Raikage dodged Amaterasu against Sasuke, which means it's not as fast as Sasuke's Kirin (lightning). Gaara easily pulled out Madara out of his Susano'o. That means Itachi won't be perfectly guarded. Maybe Pain could pull him out because when he pulls, I don't think anything must enter Susano'o to grab Itachi, however, a push seems different. If Itachi's Totsuka blade can't reach the core of Pain's Chibaku, then he'll get trapped inside along with Susano'o. Susano'o won't be able to move. (Proof): Naruto chapter 677 page 9 aka page 678. Infinite Tsukuyomi does not work on three things that were stated in the manga; Perfect Susano'o, Rinnegan and the reanimated (undead). Black Zetsu, "The light can't penetrate that Susano'o? His Rinnegan can deter even this jutsu?" This means not even the Infinite Tsukuyomi can work on Perfect Susano'o and Rinnegan. Even ChatGPT stated that Pain would win (just for humor about ChatGPT, but it's true that ChatGPT stated that Pain would win). Rinnegan requires Uchiha and Senju blood to activate. It is extremely rare and powerful. Why would the author make Rinnegan so LEGENDARY? The story made it clear that it was more powerful than any eye, including Mangekyō Sharingan. All that legendary talk for what? All that we know for sure is that the author, Masashi Kishimoto, stated that Pain is the strongest Akatsuki. "The strongest man in Akatsuki heads for Naruto." Some people try to curve this by stating the time when Itachi gave Naruto his power, but obviously, it was referring to Pain because he was FINALLY being revealed. Here's another question. Why didn't Itachi use Tsukuyomi right after Nagato casted Chibaku (Planetary Devastation), nor at all? Itachi knew he had infinite chakra too. He could've disable Nagato so easily with it. Itachi probably knew that it wouldn't have worked against Rinnegan. If he wasn't sure then he would've at least tested it out because it's better than risking death or being captured. Itachi used Amaterasu multiple times, but he wouldn't even use Tsukuyomi once? It's because he never used it that answers the question about Rinnegan able to block all visual genjutsu, including Tsukuyomi. There are so many ways this fight can last long. Pain will keep reviving. Itachi will have a tough time catching him. Nagato, aka 7th Pain, can summon the Gedo Statue that's even bigger than Choji and his dad. Even they needed help. If used right, it can hurt a lot. Itachi's Yata Mirror is strong, but it doesn't cover everywhere. Susano'o can only handle so much against multiple attacks simultaneously. There are ways for Pain to grab Susanoo's arm that's holding the Totsuka blade, like his lizard's tongue or other animals biting it. Pain could even absorb away the Susano'o because Susano'o is chakra construct. Pain could use his Almighty Push hidden under the ground to blow away Susano'o while Itachi is being distracted fighting others. We all saw how much Itachi lost chakra each time he used his eye powers. Eventually, Itachi will deplete all his chakra. Pain will rip out Itachi's soul with one touch while the others attack (not all 6). Itachi can never waste his chakra against Pain. Nagato is from the Uzumaki clan, which carries the most chakra. If this fight drags, it'll come down to who has more chakra. Pain wins. (6 Pains) Itachi's two eyes versus 6 Pains + 7th Pain with All Powers. Izanagi will be useless against Chibaku because he'll just get pulled up again. It won't matter how long his Izanagi lasts. I doubt Izanagi and Izanami link all the Pains. Itachi might have to fight blind against the 7th Pain. And that's IF Itachi could figure out how to kill him without chakra. Either way, one touch is all Nagato will need to rip out Itachi's soul. Pull + Rip = dead. Or another Chibaku (Planetary Devastation) while hidden and ready to absorb powers. I understand Itachi is extremely intelligent and powerful, but Pain is just too much of a powerhouse for Itachi.
Has anyone considered if there was some lag when Kabuto was controlling Nagato, might explain the totsuka blade stab when wielding a rinnegan. And I think Nagato wanted to just stop resisting hence why Kabuto needed to step in. Anyway another very nuanced and in-depth analysis, as expected from ThunderGod

Perhaps but right before Nagato was hit with the totsuka blade, his summonings were embedded with Itachi’s kunai. And given that there was summonings all over the place, Itachi either blitzed them or found a blind spot in their field of vision. It’s shown right after Itachi saves Naruto and Bee. By disregarding the visions of the summonings this should’ve immediately notified Nagato or Kabuto that something was wrong.
Bruh READ THE MANGA. it’s stated the rinnegan can’t see through obstruction by kabuto, Madara, and we see it affect nagato. As in the rinnegan can’t see through smoke, dust, fog etc. itachi stabs him through the dust.

It is noteworthy how we always make Nagato to not be mobile off the bat🤷🏾♂️. Also no time in the fight did Itachi considered using any genjutsu against Nagato, while he did use it against bee. Finally Itachi only knew how to counter the Chibaku Tensei AFTER Naruto told him about Kyubi's rampage!!!

Also I don’t know if this is in the manga or whatever cause I don’t read it but when you watch the show and pain lures away Naruto as the 6 tails to do planetary devastation nagato says “I’ve brought tendo close enough” or something like that implying that taking the paths of pain that far away from himself and using chakra was depleting his chakra even more than usual if he was closer.
Nagato would slap Itachi with a shinra tensei similar to what The deva part did to the leaf and that’s it 😹 you might say Itachi has the Susanoo but Nagato has something that’s way way more powerful than the Susanoo which is the Gedo Statue which can drain the chakra of anyone that’s it game over. Amaterasu and fire ball jutsu can easily be absorbed by the rinnegan. No single sharingan or Mangekyou sharingan gengjutsu works on a Rinnegan User no matter how strong even Tsukoyomi and Shisui Mangekyou’s abilities are useless against Nagato
I didnt know this was even a debate. Nagato obviously wins this. Nagato didnt wanna fight them in edo and was trying to hold himself and even like that it took naruto, bee and itachi. Because needing all 3 to deal with 1 jutsu of nagato is basically needing all 3 for nagato. And unless u think edo itachi scales above bee + naruto kmc1 together then idk why this is a debate.
It's a debate bc Itachi's win condition is so out there like Kamui or Itachi's genjutsu trump card he used against Kabuto. It's an interesting topic to talk about. A lot of the more ignorant fans speculate Itachi could win. It's easy to say Itachi needs more bodies to distract & get the better of Nagato. Nagato can multi-task just fine against a single target. He toyed with Jiraiya for the first part of the fight & tricked him with a shadow clone. You're obviously right. Nagato isn't a slouch & in other comments I've explained how Nagato has finesse in probably more areas than Itachi as a fighter. Chakra manipulation, using multiple ninjutsu or ninjutsu mastery, mastered sensory, physical enhancement, overall speed he uses to close the gap/kite which is different from taijutsu/combat speed. He has skill sets that are clutch & make up for Itachi's overall witty / speed feats.

itachi without his ms handled kcm naruto and bee and with his ms and susanoo he had to save them after nagato low diffed them then blitzed nagato and 1 shot him, its very clear unless you have some sort of literacy issue that he did outscale both of them combined
What people don't seem to understand about naruto is that vs battles are not just straight up a>b>c like to an extent it is but characters that are in similar tiers have weird matchup specific stuff. Nagato is definitely stronger than itatchi period. Itachi is not soloing the entire leaf and naruto. Period. However 1 on 1 itatchi is insane, and itatchi can definitely beat Nagato. But I'm pretty sure nagato wins 6/10 in a 1v1.

itachi catching nagat off guard made absolutely 0 sense, nagato is a sensor he should have been able to keep track of him with the smoke(and even with smoke the paths of pains weaker than nagato were able to defend themselves in the smoke), even if his summonings got his eyes filled with kunais that would have been enough to warn nagato that itachi is about to go after him next.

The Susanoo is made of chakra. Of course it can be absorbed. Same with the Totsuka Blade. Otherwise, Itachi wins, obviously. But if it can be absorbed, Nagato wins easily.
Nagato should wipe the floor with Itchi. I am not sure it should be able to be absorbed at least not easily. I would like to think Pain would be able to disable Itchi and prevent Itchi from using his Susanoo. Although it's not put in the anime for 'reasons' Given that Mai was able to burn through the Susanoo with lava release and Tusnade was able to punch through Madara's with her fist. A Rinnegan user should be able to do something against the Susanoo. Itchi without the Totsuka blade doesn't stand a chance. But he does have it. Making it a little bit dicey for Nagato but he should still be able avoid throw stuff at Itchi and win.
Bee was confident enough to fight Itachi in his base. He took one look at nagatos and said "yea I'm going v2. Let that sink in. All the hype Itachi fans get about getting around a base Bee. No one talks about how Bee literally stayed in base and felt no need to power up. But against nagato
Dude orochimaru fucked around with a 4 tails kyuubi. Even if you want to say version 2 killer bee is stronger than 4 tails kyuubi itachi is much stronger than orochimaru as well so there’s not reason itachi can’t kill version 2 bee. People with common sense know itachi and nagato are relative.
From memory, sussanno is just chakra. Same as rasengan, which can be absorbed. I see no reason that sussanno can't be absorbed, though admittedly it's probably too large considering every time we see it, it's in a small cone around the absorbed. Then again. Jiraiyas giant rasengan was basically vacuumed in. So maybe?

Once nagato brings out the gedo statue i really don't see what itachi is doing about it. His only win condition is either Tsukuyomi or Izanami, if nagato falls for a genjutsu itachi could just walk up and stab him, but given that the rinnegan is just a hyper advanced sharingan its not clear if such jutsu would even work, after all sasuke could negate the infinite tsukuyomi with his rinnegan.
Edo Nagato cannot summon the Gedo Mazo, as his pair of Rinnegan are fake and the real ones where under the possession of Obito, who can casually summon the Gedo Mazo.

A video that might be your style is Madara vs the Akatsuki but you form your own pairs however you want with the best chemistry to see who would have the best chances to beat him with all 10 picked members like originally but at different points ei: final valley, edo, revived, or prime alive with no Nine Tails. Great video but you forgot to mention how Itachi couldn’t kill Kabuto during their fight. He was trying to keep him alive, so even in that fight Itachi got nerfed as he couldn’t kill Kabuto or the whole plan would be ruined
The bijudama probably did most of the work blowing up chibaku tensei. Nagato is also once again fighting to capture not kill. Kabuto is ignoring itatchi.
So you downplay a 3 on one, imply Kabuto scales to Obito or Madara which is unbelievably absurd as he doesn’t even seem to scale to White Zetsu Orochimaru who in turn doesn’t scale to Tobirama. And now because a sound based genjutsu works a doujutsu should work against a stronger Sharingan… it should also go without saying Nagato was Way stronger than any individual Path’s. Bringing up Nagato’s summons like that isn’t 100% his own power set while ignoring B and Naruto to try and scale Nagato vs Itachi is absolute clown shoes.

As strong as Kotoamatsukami is, it’s still a Yin release…a very strong Yin release for that matter… Characters with Rinnegan can naturally can perform Yin-Yang release; therefore will not work on them..Moreover; Yin-Yang release have jutsu nullifying abilities. Characters with strong Yang Release, Kotoamatsukami will have a hard time working on as well. Hashirama could easily break out of EDO Tensei, while Itachi needed Kotoamatsukami to counter. I really don't know if amaterasu is truly a threat to Nagato himself, maybe it is with his summons but the fact that he sensed it and still had plenty of time to react to it but didn't, that just tells me that he wanted that to happen so that he could absorb the chakra but it clearly wasn't enough because after that he just simply pushes it away.
Alive prime Nagato vs edo Itachi probably slaps. Itachi was one of the few characters who got stronger as an edo. We saw what the true rinnegan was capable of with Madara after he was revived so a prime revived Nagato would be nearly unstoppable. It’s arguable he could break tsukuyomi since his eyes are technically upgraded EMS
I know that I'm kind of late to this, or I may have missed this point of discussion in the video, however, it is worth mentioning that in a hypothetical fight between both of them in their healthy and alive versions, Nagato can summon the Gedo statue, and use that broken soul dragon jutsu that he used on Hanzo's army that may or may not end the fight right there. You could make an argument for Itachi being able to seal the attack or the Gedo Mazo itself if Nagato uses it but, I don't think there's anything that supports the Totsuka blade being able to absorb or seal another spiritual/ethereal weapon.
The thing is Nagato was being controlled by sage kabuto after a while, so you can argue Nagato’s moves weren’t based on his own way of thinking. In one scene sage kabuto says “I couldnt react” when itachi came out of nowhere and hit him. And we see sage kabuto able to blitz itachi, yeah he wasn’t trying to kill Nagato, but he was evading attacks when he could. Edo/red hair Nagato would be above kcm1 naruto, bee/v2 bee, itachi and sage kabuto.. as far as speed and power.
The problem with this is nobody mentions intelligence. Itachi is hands down one of the smartest Shinobi which how kishimoto made him appear by not giving him a legit loss. Nagato isn't that smart when it comes to battle IQ.

When both are alive and healthy Nagato slams itachi no doubt. Edo itachi vs edo nagato is a little closer to a draw but I still think nagato wins high diff. Alive itachi would just end up going blind mid fight, nagatos chakra is on a whole other level when he was healthy. Now if itachi had ems that might be a different story.
Edo Nagato seems to have been purposely nerfed by Kishimoto to easily write him out of the story. He was for some reason brought back with no chakra and kept crippled despite him both having the Edo healing factor & access to the Asura path which should easily be able to fix his legs. It was purely plot induced stupidity that Nagato was even comparable to Itachi. Pain who is weaker than Edo Nagato bodied all of Konoha BEFORE he even began fighting Naruto… do you realize how much Chakra that means crippled near death Nagato had to have had? And even after the fight he still had enough chakra to Dragonball everyone back to life but for some reason he was Edo’d like he was immediately after Rinne rebirth.

Nagato when he was healthy could easily be close to Madara in strength without his rennegan. People just don’t realize how over powered he was, and the show never really went into much detail about his life and his feats. I believe that he was the strongest akatsuki member until obito during the war arc, I could see him taking out orange mask obito in a high diff fight. But obviously not war arc obito for obvious reasons. Think about it, every single clan feared the uzumaki even the uchiha and the senju, that’s why all of the clans teamed up and destroyed the uzumaki. They had the most chakra out of all the clans and they possessed unknown power and some crazy sealing techniques that could rival the strongest clans. Nagato is an uzumaki with a rennegan, that is a lethal combo when you really start to think about it.

I never really understood this debate. We have already seen Nagato take on not only Itachi, but also the two strongest jinjuriki in the world at the same time and he was overpowering all three of them. Only itachis strategic mind combined with the full power of Naruto and B allowed them to win.
This is not even remotely a close fight. Not sure why it’s constantly being displayed as an “it can go either way” type of battle… because it can’t. It's funny that this is argued. It depends entirely on strategy. Itachi could easily kill Nagato, just as Nagato could easily kill Itachi. They are both more than capable of instant kills, depending on how they go about it.
Personally, I don't agree that itachi is suppressed. It is stated many times that edo tensei bodies react automatically and their will has nothing to say. So while Naruto may be limited to talk (while alive), there's no evidence that itachi is limited in speed here, rather it's his top speed with a basic sharingan. Pretty good movie
@@ThunderGodTG However, sharingan does not change the speed of movements, which was proven by the fight between rock lee and sasuke, only reaction, so even without MS it should be the top speed of his body. And another maybe flaw, when you said that sasuke's rinnengan is higher than nagato (which is of course true) it canceled out the genjutsu cast by madara's 3rd eye, which is also higher than the average rinnegan. Yeah that's mainly why I said perception capabilities and arguably stats, at least when an MS user actually uses their MS. So Itachi/Sasuke would just see attacks coming better and be able to respond accordingly if they're able to. If you wanna say it amps everything when they do that's fine I was just being conservative for the video.
I really, REALLY don’t understand how Itachi doesn’t get absolutely stomped. He is so overrated in analysis videos so frequently, I just don’t get it. How are Nagato’s and Itachi’s feats even remotely comparable? The fight is over in an instant. The Susanoo is just Chakra, it can be absorbed, and even if it wasn’t, the King of Hell can absorb souls. The fight is a Banshou Tennin king of hell combo away from ending, two moves. Itachi cannot counter it. Nagato is broken, like, ridiculously broken, they don’t scale to each other at all.

It can go either way but nagato has more ways of winning. Itachi honestly only has one option which is totsuka blade. And that may not work in a 1v1 between the two since nagato can rapidly spam all his hax and can use chibaku tensei possibly multiple times. His only problem as an edo is his mobility which kabuto explained was what cost him the fight.

The very fact they have to take the edo version which significantly reduces nagato’s main advantage (disparity in chakra pool) shows you that you have to simultaneously buff Itachi and nerf Nagato to even try to make this a debate.

ThunderGod this has to be the best breakdown of the Itachi vs Nagato match up. The only thing content creators barely discuss is that Chibaku Tensei leaves Nagato open while the energy is gathering everything around it. Itachi has time to hit him with the Tosuka blade which is an instant attack.
Nagato actually is not open to attacks during chibaku tensei this was literally shown in the pain vs 6 tails fight.deva path was shown manipulating gravity deflecting chakra blasts AND what most don’t mention is nagato has the ability to interrupt opponents trying to destroy chibaku tensei and strengthen the gravitational force of the Justu also shown in the deva path fight vs 6 tails naruto

Exsactly. Nagato not flying during the fight to remove the lack of mobility AS WE SAW DEVA ALLOWS YOU TO DO. And not just slow float, Deva outsped full charge six tail naruto pissed and ready to kill using flight and surfing where Gravity moved him. Thst was mid charging chibaku so its even a passive ability the path has. Nagato just letting them chat and figure out chibaku is all on Kabuto. He could increase the pull even greater then Deva based on the fact his version of the abilities are far stronger, and he has infinite chakra now. No stammina issues. Being blitzed/suprised also only occured because as Kabuto states, he didnt know of Kabutos sebsory ability. How did the summons get all blinded? Kabuto left them as sitting ducks. Didnt keep them mobile as Nagato did ad pain every fight. Dudnt even bother keeping the charmeleon invisiblr or split the dogs! Naruto catches amateradu on chakra he tosses away. The dogs can just split amaterasu off. All based on white hair is "tasked" to capture Naruto and Bee. And itachi reprogrammed himself. So Nagato is easily able he prepairs amaterasu, but not tasked to fight his ally in the task. This forces Kabuto to DIRECTLY control him. Wich we see in how he fights, and by how he hokds the handsign and directly commands/comments what he does

In any case he can escape with Izanagi. Then Tostuka stab like in the manga. Yet, Nagato is still an amazing fighter. It could go both ways. Itachi has just some ridiculous (but great design) insta GG techniques.

I'll talk about a few opinions on later points, particularly Gedo Statue, Planetary Devastation, and Soul Snatch. I don't see any reason why Itachi couldn't use Totsuka to seal or injure the Gedo Statue, regardless of form, even if Nagato can summon it. In terms of Planetary Devastation, another very valid way for Itachi to deal with it (that would ultimately prolong the fight yet give him advantage in a few ways for the "next move" is to charge towards the center and cut/stab it with Totsuka Blade, as that should basically render it useless via sealing the chakra that makes it or completely slicing the stability of it. One could counter with a potential "why didn't he" or something to that effect, but, really, it's simple to see why he wouldn't: (1) potential prolonged endangerment of Bee and Naruto and (2) there's no use in gaining a vantage point for your next move, if you have a way to perceivably end the fight with another set up. Regarding the Soul Snatch, we also don't see how long it will last or if it would work on an Edo individual. Not to say it wouldn't move the soul, but said soul is bound to the living world and will have a body reform around it anyway, as is the nature of reanimation (that being their bodies could be completely destroyed and they'd still exist/regen). Essentially 3 issues arise. One is that it will not "kill" a reanimated individual in terms of forcing the soul to the afterlife (bound to the Edo Summon Contract). Two is that the body may die, but it will reform around the individual's soul (perceivably). Three: even if the soul/chakra body is held for longer than we see in the series, it presumably takes chakra for the jutsu to be used, while the reanimated soul being held can essentially continue to fight the jutsu without having chakra zapped away, since they have an endless supply that they wouldn't be using. To further discuss things, there's no reason to say Itachi couldn't hold his soul, like Naruto (since Naruto used his hands as well), while he uses other jutsu to at least attempt helping himself, like Amaterasu and/or Susano'o. In essence, then, it seems that it comes down to an eternal battle, if we don't simply say Itachi wins some way or another, as he will continue to adapt to Nagato over time, while Nagato doesn't hold the same mental capacity to keep up with Itachi and adapt as fast.
Nagato has the mental capacity to trick Jiraiya with a shadow clone, take on the entire leaf village although does get caught off guard several times. Itachi alone would not be too much for Nagato in a 1 on 1. The debate is whether Itachi is adaptable to Nagato. If he is adaptable, his best genjutsu Trump card he used against Kabuto would actually win the fight. Otherwise, he gets blitzed up to the mid duration of a typical Naruto fight.

Soul snatch is as I said debatable (not a ko either way though). I think itachi's intellect is a factor here. He's likely relative if not superior to Shikamaru and Shikaku in terms of intelligence and is shown to be the kind of character that sees a technique and dissects it pretty much instantly. If he's at all relative to his opponent, then this is not insignificant.

@@wilsoncox582 deidara vs Sasori is settled, Deidara himself says he is weaker. Nagato vs Itachi is settled. On screen we saw that Itachi has no chance. One chibaku tensei is all Nagato needs and game over, Itachi doesnt have the firepower with just himself which is why he needed 8 and 9 tails assistance. And this is nerfed Nagato without summoning the gedo or the six paths to fight with him. Both fights you mentioned are settled in canon.
Itachi will beat Nagato one by one because Rinnegan is not immune to genjutsu the proof is when Kakashi used a genjutsu on Obito then Obito was affected by genjutsu even if he has a Rinnegan. Obito has sharingan and can create a genjutsu also to counter Kakashi genjutsu but without his sharingan Obito cannot use genjutsu and he would lost to kakashi even if he has a Rinnegan . Then when Sasuke fight the Chinoeke girl Sasuke was affected by genjutsu even if he has a Rinnegan and he used his Sharingan to break free of genjutsu. Nagato is not immune to genjutsu because he was affected by frog song many times.
This is not a comment on the video, per se, but I feel like these are more or less the upper echelons of Shinobi when considering who they are as individuals. They are powerful as hell, like unreasonably so. But what bothers me is when people start saying that Itachi could beat Madara, or that Pain was a mid Naruto boss before the final boss, because Pain came before Madara/Obito/Kaguya. The latter three were infused with essentially the powers of literal gods, and you really can't compare an individual Shinobi's skills against alien mother of all Chakra, or guys who are reincarnation of shinobi gods infused the powers of all tailed beasts. It kinda just puts a spotlight on this insane power scaling that happend in the latter half of Shippuden. Personally, I think Naruto should have ended with Pain. He was Naruto's perfect foil, presented Naruto an opportunity to win things his way (talk no jutsu), and it earned him the ultimate respect of the villagers, which is what he was after all along.
Before watching the video: as long as you're not an Itachi stan, or say "but Tsukuyomi 🤓", you already know that Tendo alone solos Itachi. High difficulty if you want to be like that. That's when he's alive. And Pain is practically immune to genjutsu. Boom there's a massive amount of Itachi's arsenal that's useless Edo Nagato has ALL SIX paths of pain in one. I'm pretty sure the Preta path would allow Nagato to absorb the Susano'o 😐. So there goes another thing Itachi stans bring up. I'd argue that it's not even a fair fight. But, again, I'll throw "high difficulty" to be nice, and I'm sure there are other tricks Itachi has that you guys can bring up. But even with that, Nagato just isn't losing. Not even mentioning Itachi's Chakra AIDS. Nagato is definitely at least outlasting Itachi while alive, and even Edo, Nagato is just too broken I'll edit this if I'm "wrong" by the end so I can say a rebuttal 🗿 And I'm an honest enough person to admit if I'm stupid on something
Do you have an argument against tsukuyomi? Pain is most definitely not immune to genjutsu as we literally saw 3 of them get trapped in it. We also see rinnegan Sasuke caught in visual genjutsu. Susanoo is spiritual, as are tutska blade, yata magatama and yata mirror, so they cannot be absorbed. You haven't managed to get a single thing right

The lack of mobility and the difference in speed is what ruins it for Nagato. Nagato's AP is stronger with Planetary, sure. But in a death match he never even gets that far, Itachi blitzes with the Totsuka Blade basically just as he did in the series at the end. In the end they are very relative though, they're comparable in almost every aspect. I don't have a ton of faith in Tsukuyomi being fully effective against Nagato because his dual Rinnegan likely retain some of the Sharingan's own ability to resist and counter ocular Genjutsu. It probably would still work, since like Kakashi, Nagato does not have the kekkei genkai to match his eyes, BUT, this is dual Rinnegan we're talking about, not a single base three tomoe Sharingan. Amaterasu gets pushed off or absorbed, so Itachi would have to result to his spirit weapons. But here's an interaction NOBODY ever talks about except for me... If Itachi were to get caught in Planetary Devastation, and let's say he tries Yasaka Beads first and that doesn't work, he still has his spirit weapons to fall back on. He can either try to use the Totsuka Blade to destroy it, or, and this one is far more likely to work, allow the gravitational pull to draw him in, aim the Yata Mirror at the core, when the core hits the Yata Mirror, all of its gravitational energy will be reflected back onto itself, completely obliterating the core. A basic understand of energy transfer would lead anyone to this conclusion. The Yata Mirror negs Planetary, so it doesn't matter if Nagato's AP is higher, Itachi can reflect it. The Yata Mirror followed by a blitz with the Totsuka Blade is all Itachi needs to deal with Nagato or really 99% of the verse honestly.

A collision of two objects is a collision of two objects, it doesn't really matter if the Planetary Devastation is dropped on Itachi at 500mph or if Itachi slams the Yata Mirror into it at 500mph, the end result would be the same thing, force is being applied to the shield and the shield's effect would reflect that force in either scenario. There's nothing indirect about the Yata Mirror coming into contact with Planetary Devastation, you just haven't broadened your thinking enough to figure this out.
Let's not forget Sasuke is basically the nerfed fusion of these two(because once Sasuke got their abilities they were either nerfed or forgotten so Sasuke wouldn't one shot Naruto)
I think everyone keeps forgetting that Nagano is a cripple and could barely walk. he's not not mobile like itachi. and everyone thinks itachis mangekyou is the end all be all as if he can spam it all day long. 1 tsyukiyomi against kakashi and 1 amaterasu against jiraiya put him out of commission.
Itachi has great counters for the summons and their all seeing vision with his shuriken jutsu. But he doesn’t have the power to deal with chubaku tensei alone. That’s all.

Great video One thing I will say that is always overlooked Itachi didn’t know about rasenshuriken or B being a jinchuriki He says use your strongest attacks but giving he isn’t aware of those abilities it indicates he’s confident his attack can beat CT but is playing it safe. Naruto hadn’t developed the jutsu when itachi was alive and interacted with him, and itachi never saw any long range jutsu from naruto. B was kept hidden for years and even obito had no clue who b was or what he looked like Itachi sees the tentacle but that doesn’t matter as nobody knew what the 8 tails or the host looked like and itachi makes 0 indication of this. Sasuke had to basically I vestigate to find out who B was
I’m curious how we scale the durability of the susanoo, and the offensive capabilities of the planetary devastation. Because it can be argued that the imperfect full armored susanoo can break Itachi out of chubaku tensei. Madara’s skeletal form was able to break out of Garaa’s sealing pyramid that seemed big enough to engulf a tailed beast. We know that the 9 tails in its 8th tailed form was able to force himself out of it, confirming there is a limit. The full susanoo scales around the 9 tails whom is easily the strongest tailed beast. We saw Sasuke use it to seal all of them, however it can be argued this depends on how powerful the user is since he used his 6paths rennegan. I think Itachi’s susanoo would be able to manifest and force himself out of it with the totska blade piercing through the ball since there’s a limit to how much earth the ball can absorb. Nagato can’t absorb the Amaterasu fire, and it would press a lot of the paths of pains as the fire has a non stop burning feature. If Itachi pulls out the totska blade, I can’t see the paths being able to get the bodies back because the gourd is a sealing jutsu, and if it’s a sealing jutsu, would Nagato be perceiving the same thing as that path would? As long as Itachi has the susanoo, I can’t see any of the paths being durable enough to survive and create an opening to Itachi himself without him killing them off quickly. Lastly, with the speed on which he figured out the shared vision (with no prior interaction mind you), he would likely aim for the king of hell first. Nagato would have better luck picking at Itachi till he runs out of stamina and hope the susanoo stops. But as we saw, his susanoo stood up literally until he dropped dead. I’m taking Itachi.
That Nagato did not have enough chakra because of the shinra tensei he used beforehand. Also he promts that he can make it bigger after kyubi breaks out of it.
Most of what you said is inaccurate. There’s no way the upper body Susanoo gets out of the Chibaku Tensei by saturating it, what kind of logic is that? Nagato CAN absorve the Amaterasu fire, the series does it’s best to show that Amaterasu is useless at that level, it is a no factor. The king of Hell can be made invisible and intangible as seen in the Pain arc, and Susanoo can be absorbed, it is just chakra. Even if it wasn’t, the intangible king of hell can absorb souls, Itachi has no defensive tools against Nagato. His only offense is Totsuka, and for Nagato to be hit by it he would have to just not move
Amaterasu is NOTHING to Nagato. He could simply absorb it, or repel it with Almighty Push. Without Totska Blade, Itachi has ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE to win this battle, and with it he stands a good chance if he can just jab Nagato with it. Nagato, at first chance, stands a great chance of winning this, with all the jutsu/summons he gas available.
I would think nagato would win for a lot of reasons because the later half of the fight the reaction time wasn’t nagato but kabuto as kabuto was directly controlling him in the later half so some feats. Also nagato has a lot of one hit moves the dragons were stated to be ethereal not able to be blocked and were one hit same thing with almighty pull into soul steal

Sasuke hits 8 tails with it and 8 tails is screaming in pain, sasuke with itachis eye hits obito with it and obito is panicking (people say obito let himself get hit with it to impress sasuke that he can get out of it but why would obito panic like that if he wanted to impress sasuke? And then say he'd be dead if itachi had knowledge on one of his abilities? It's just a weird argument). Then the flames that were causing 8 tails to tell in pain landed on Karin And only burnt her robe and scuffed up her back a bit. Then a samurai gets lit on fire and is chilling for minutes until kankuro removed his armor. Raikage gets it and is chilling but you can say the lightning armor is blocking it from touching his skin so no pain but then you're saying a kekkei genkai nature type isn't strong enough to break through a normal nature type element. Fire in Naruto is always crap. Look at asumas burning ash. Did like no damage. And you can even argue that burning ash did more damage than amaturasu did to karin since it showed real burn marks on asuma and amaturasu just showed scuff marks on karin

Great vid. I have one point of disagreement tho. By the mechanics of how it works nagato should be able to absorb the susano. He can absorb chakra and the susano is made of chakra. Seems pretty cut and dry. The counter argument of why didn't he do so are answered by, the first time itachi tagged him, he didn't see the attack coming. He needed to see it to begin absorption. The second time, the totska blade is some effervescent spiritual weapon so it couldn't be absorbed. It realistically shouldn't be any different from nagato absorbing bee's v2 cloak.
About renniegan vs genjutsu: I see ur points with the rikage, but following that line of thinking. Nagato has practically more chakra than Naruto and half nine tails put together. So it’s difficult to keep him under genjutsu. If he flexes his chakra to “release!” the tsykinomi. nagato is a very good sensory type so I think he’d be at least able to check if he’s under one. He could also sense right before itachi used Amaterasu, so he might be able to anticipate tsykinomi. The renniegan is above the EMS/MS. It lets you read the WHOLE uchia stone tablet. Itachi is a very skilled user, but it’s easier to break out of genjutsu than it is to keep someone under.
The issue with trying to release the Tsukuyomi is that the entire genjutsu is over before you or anyone has even blinked So it’s not realistic for anyone to be able to flair up their chakra unless you think flairing up your chakra is like- hundreds of times faster than blinking or something ridiculous like that. Which while technically can be true as we don’t really know, it is unlikely Also if Nagato was unable to react to Amaterasu being fired at him, I’m not too sure if he can react to Tsukuyomi

At 20:57 you talk about how chibaku tensei is more than itachi alone can handle but never discussed why Amaterasu wouldn’t simply burn the whole thing away. Throughout the entire series we never see Amaterasu extinguished we’ve seen it sealed by jiraiya pushed away by nagato with shinra tensei and abosorbed by madara but never extinguished it’s not like the center of gravity for the chibaku tensei is a black hole nothings getting pulled into it only pulled towards it so if it was lit on fire with Amaterasu the core would try to pull the flames towards itself causing everything to burn away until it reaches the core and then burns away the core too

With regards to the time itachi tagged nagato with amaterasu the reason the auto counter seems to do nothing may be due to itachi not being alive as the Edo counter is a result of them being forced to fight the living. Nagato himself also knew exactly when itachi was building up chakra for amaterasu so no matter how fast the attack was absorption chakra could have been put up in advance. Nagato also flat out stares at it, acknowledging that itachi broke free before he eventually fell of.

One mistake the video was ignoring is that white hair was "Tasked" to fight bee and Naruto.
Itachi just reprogrammed himself thus, white hair didnt react at all. He did however acknowledge his chakra built imidietly.
Red hair was under DIRECT control by Kabuto. So all the mistakes he did that the paths of pain did not are on Kabuto. He even confirms to not know of Nagatos insane sensory wich would have made it easy to see Itachi coming wich is how he got hit in the first place
We also know:
-Deva can speed up the pulling of chibaku significally, and Nagato not only has a better chibaku but had infinite chakra to just speed seal them all without worrying about stammina.
-Deva harassed Six tailed Kyuubi mode so it couldnt blast the core. Nagato has lasers and rockets but Kabuto let him kick back and watch.
-Nagato can fly forever, he has zero mobility issues as Edo and zero limits to speed because he can increase his speed like how the Deva path outran/flew six tails kyuubi mode wich was very very fast with a mix of the deva path and the bodies own speed to get close to the main body for chibaku.
-In all pain fights his summonings scatter and stay mobile, kabuto had them positioned as sitting ducks and easy targets.
-Kabuto never properly split the dog to avoid it being one shot. Aka just push off any burning parts as single dog just how Naruto uses kuramas chakra to catch and throw off amaterasu. It is also why the dogs vere so broken. They multiply by pain, but for some reason Kabuto chose not to split them.
-That you just stand in a half Sussannoo from Madara, thus can be removed from it. Gravity pull should do the trick.
-That if you have a sussannoo out and get removed this way the sussannoo has a cooldown until it dematerializes and can be used again. Aka Madara ( whos main abillty is sussannoo and was born a child soldier prodigy on a battlefield with top notch reaction speed) was to slow to ribcage or summon sussano in time and needed the preta path to counter Naruto. Thus being removed is a window to blast him.
-Nagatos preta path is just a 360 shield he can pop off and absorb Amaterasu passively just how Kabuto used it to casually deny Naruto any chakra based attacks or push it off.
-That the Rinnegan even resisted the infinite tsykoyumi, and a genius genjutsu master as Itachi would have tried those first with infinite chakra to quickly end the fight. Not nearly die.

Pain shows us how he "Would do" stuff. And outside info like his insane sensory.
A reference to "normal" Uzumaki sensory with Karin who could pinpoint people for team Taka all the time. And Nagato was the only one to find Kabuto who was so prepaired that no other sensory alive found him.
And thats an insane feat given his red hair edos main issue was being suprised.
And the mobility argument just looks dumb when you remember that the deva path allows you to not only float but boost your flight speed to a degree you outspeed six tailed kyuubi mode charging at you with killing intent. Obviously not Minato or Raikage speed, but more then enough to just stay out of range, or dodge most things.
I think something people over look drastically when referencing the Nagato vs Itachi, Naruto, and B fight is that from a writing perspective the Pain Arc had literally just ended not too long ago, so there was no way kishimoto was going to dedicate another long drawn out and full scale fight with nagato since he had JUST finished doing that shortly before. A lot of the reanimation fights were there basically as fluff and ended much quicker than they most likely truly would have realistically because Kishimoto wanted to show off so many different dead characters but also move along to Obito and Madara. So in my opinion, a lot of these reanimation fights are short, rushed, and sort of shoehorned in and do not necessarily do the fights justice. And it is also very easy to write a scenario where either of these characters stomps the other.
Its also EXTREMELY important to note 3 things.
1. White Hair Nagato didnt want to win, and idled alot. Alongside telling bee and Naruto what to do. He wasnt "programmed" to fighr or even gocus on Itachi wich is how edo work. Itachi suprisingly reprigrammed himself.
2. Grey eye Nagato after pushing anaterasu off was DIRECTLY under Kabutos control who had to rely on intel. Wich ment he never used his god level sensory, wich found Kabito in his barrier cave and tokd Itachi, thus could easily react and know the exsact location of people atound him. Kabuto stated he didnt know this. Wixh explains why he didnt have the rinnegan summonings move like Nagato did ad pain. That he didnt react to Itachi twice. That he didnt invinitely fly out of reach with tendo, ampt up the pulling speed of chibaku like he did as pain, didnt rocket abd laser harass them so they cant oeacefully charge their strongest jutsu or use his elemental realeases we know alive Nagato had from Jirayas statement. And that it was Kabutos fault for just parking him during the Chibaku.
We literary see him harass Six tailed Kyuubi mode naruto when he tried to shoot the Chibaku and almost sealing full half kurama.
But Kabuto had hin stand, watch and let them plan, charge and together take it out.
3. We never saw prime alive Nagato fight himself, and him never absorbing a bir of the chakra from the Bijuu he stored in the gedo to just rejuvenite himself and be a one man army us a bs plotthole after this
Therfor to meassure Nagato we need to mix how he fought as pain to understand Nagatos strategic use of his abilities as well as use outside info like his insane sensory that if Karin can sense a whole big ass area, and Nagato found Kabuto miles away behind barriers he would 100% sense Itachis ambushes and react to it since he is fast enough to deal with bee and kcm1. So he can deal with Itachi.
But can get a guess at how Nagato has no cooldowbs anymore unlike pain and thus in a 1v1 can oztlast, overpower and win mid difficulti at best.
We also know:
-The Rinnegan can resist the infinite Tsykoyumi. So a regular one should as well. A genjutsu expert such as Itachi would have also tried as edo with no chakra or stammina issues.
-Amaterasu would be instantly absorbed or pushed off.
-And gravity makes short work pulling Itachi out if even Madara can be thrown out of his half sussannoo.
Meanwhile nothing Itachi does can do to much to him.
I honestly think this is where Kishimoto went in the wrong direction in the anime. Instead of having pointless fillers to stall the anime, he should have extended the fights and added relevant fights into the anime. For example the Madara vs Hashirama fight.

Kishimoto could have absolutely done it. He litteraly did exactly what you've described when it came to Obito and Madara during the war. We've got nearly the same story for the both of them, one right after another. I do agree that it was a mistake in term of story narrative-wise thought. And right next to Nagato we have Itachi and Kishimoto had no problem using this character even thought everything you said about Nagato / Pain could have been said about Itachi.
However, it is also true that the reason why Kishimoto didn't bring Edo-Jiraya is because he wasn't confident in doing a good job with him. Kishimoto had a plan for Itachi. And clearly he didn't have much of one for Nagato, beyond showing what he could have been as he have not been handicaped.
On a side note, I do think it is completely false that nothing interesting could have been done with Nagato. It's obviously a character that could have had some interesting confrontations with Obito or Madara (or even Tsunade) given their history and his character development at his death. Nagato being called along side Naruto a child of the prophecy is a total cop from the manga itself given how much more Naruto has done. Has Nagato actually done something during the war, it could have been better justified. But it is true that it would have been quite difficult to do, given that Nagato was under the control of Kabuto.
Anyway, to put it quickly : Kishimoto could have made something interesting with Nagato, even something close to what happened with Pain wouldn't have necessary bother him. But I don't think he had much plan for Nagato.

Nagato wins high difficulty. The abilities from Tendo path are just way too difficult for Itachi to counter by himself. Itachi needed Bee and Naruto to help him destroy the planetary devastation.
Itachi has exploding shadow clones to punish universal pull and probably negs/resists almighty push with his Susanoo like how 6 tails naruto did to tendo pain. Planetary devastation is a problem, but it's not something that Nagato/Pain pulls out at the beginning of a fight, and also isn't exactly instant. I could also see a situation where Planetary Devastation activates and Itachi forces a draw by sealing Nagato with the Totsuka blade.

Itachi, didn't need naruto or be to help destroy the planetary devastation core. He didn't even go full power on the core. The susanoo that through the beads was only in its' upper body humanoid form. We know higher susanoo stages mean more power, so the beads itachi threw weren't at full power.
Itachi can just Izanagi the Chibaku Tensei. Then we go back to the manga fight. Nagato just used his ace. He is exhausted, recharging his chakra.
Out of thin air, Izanagi makes Itachi pop out. And Nagato is sealed by the Susano blade.
Nonetheless Nagato and Itachi arsenal are just ridiculous. They both have crazy techniques.
I'm curious why you'd believe Nagato allowing himself to be set on fire even matters. It's clearly an inadequate attack to deal with Nagato. He's edo and the attack was pointless other than hyping up Itachi breaking out of edo tensei, which was pretty damn cool.
He literally just warned everyone that Itachi was preparing an attack as he sensed it. So he clearly knew the attack was coming and let it happen. He let it happen because it's harmless even if he were alive. You have someone like Ay u bothered by the flames and calmly cuts his hand off. Edo Nagato just oushes it off because it's not even worth dodging even if he could.
The questions I have are this... why not absorb the jutsu and why is Kabuto interested so much in Shisui's eye that he's allowing any of this to go down. Who's alive that he would even care to use the ability?
The other issue I have with, not the video but the people in the comments. This fight is beyond uneven.

Itachi clearly "blitzed " nagato by taking out the lizard. He did this while hiding and waiting until nagato was engaged with Naruto and Bee
We never see Itachi fighting a serious Naruto or anything beyond base Bee. Bee is blitzed twice in base but still counters everything Itachi throws at him. The genjutsu shurikan attack, for example where he counters genjutsu and that attack should tell you that he's relative in power to Itachi. This interaction is always brushed aside to make itachi seem stronger.
Literally during the fight, Kabuto is wondering what abilities Nagato has so he's clearly at a disadvantage...aka nerfed.
Speaking of nerfed, Chiyo, Hiruzen, and Nagato are all brought back past their prime or broken but Itachi is brought back stronger than he was when he died. So you have a crippled Nagato completely drained from casting rebirth which killed him versus KCM Naruto and V2 Killer Bee which he easily dispatched.
It's not debatable that Itachi struggled with a lesser version of Bee while Nagato completely removes him from the rest of the fight instantly. Again, what was the lariat really going to do to an edo? So is it really a blitz if you know you have the easiest dub against Bee up to that point.
The last part of this absolutely ridiculous comparison is the fact that Itachi says they all need to throw their strongest attacks. Are we really suggesting a half susanno yasaka bead is as strong as a tailed beast bomb from full 8 tails killer Bee or that itachi can somehow toss out enough to escape chibaku tensei?
Lastly, chap 552... Kabuto clearly states Itachi out maneuvered him by blinding the summons and that Nagato was not mobile enough.
The anime makes it seem like that dust cloud was there forever but they destroy chibaku tensei and hiding once again, itachi pulls out Totsuka for the win.
I'm now sure how or why anymore would interpret this as overpowering Nagato. Genjutsu wasn't even bothered with and Nagato, as shown in chap 551 can sense when Itachi is about to use his MS. They never once fight and nagato has better showings against Naruto and a stronger version of Bee.
This would be an absolute stomp. I really do enjoy the fact that Itachi is basically the Batman of Naruto but people give him every advantage in the world every encounter when his only strength that remotely mattered in this fight was his ability to out smart Kabuto..

1. Itachi, Naruto & Bee Vs Nagato (controlled by Kabuto) There's a huge difference. Kabuto almost forgot about Chibaku. The real Nagato wouldn't have just stood there like a puppet. Nagato has sensory to spot Kabuto for Itachi to find. He'll easily spot Itachi nearby. Plus, Itachi had to remind Kabuto that Nagato had sensory. Itachi was finished when Nagato casted Chibaku (Planetary Devastation). The real Nagato wouldn't allow Itachi's Totsuka blade to reach the core too.
2. Naruto vs Pain = Pain (after Konoha destroyed)
- Jiraiya's info
- Prep time with 2 Sage clones
- Needed help from Frog Sage to reverse summon Naruto's clones
- Tsunade's slug advising Naruto, maybe healing too
- Pain almost made Naruto lose hope when he pinned him down until Hinata SUPER triggered him.
- Minato had to reseal for Naruto, and rebuild his confidence.
- Naruto gained Sage mode after being saved by Minato.

3. Itachi Vs Pain = Pain
Ultimately, it'll come down to who has more chakra, Nagato. Pain is too much of a powerhouse for Itachi to last. Itachi is finished once his Susano'o is gone, assuming he's nearly or is out of chakra. Think about how well Nagato was able to control the Six Paths simultaneously. Even Pain's puppet uses advanced technologies greater than ours, like lasers and homing missiles.
Amaterasu will do absolutely nothing because it'll get absorbed or pulled off immediately! Not to mention, Amaterasu could get absorbed with a scroll, like how Jiraiya did after Itachi and Kisame ran away from Jiraiya's jutsu. I'm sure Jiraiya taught him about it. Raikage dodged Amaterasu against Sasuke, which means it's not as fast as Sasuke's Kirin (lightning). Gaara easily pulled out Madara out of his Susano'o. That means Itachi won't be perfectly guarded. Maybe Pain could pull him out because when he pulls, I don't think anything must enter Susano'o to grab Itachi, however, a push seems different. If Itachi's Totsuka blade can't reach the core of Pain's Chibaku, then he'll get trapped inside along with Susano'o. Susano'o won't be able to move.
(Proof): Naruto chapter 677 page 9 aka page 678. Infinite Tsukuyomi does not work on three things that were stated in the manga; Perfect Susano'o, Rinnegan and the reanimated (undead). Black Zetsu, "The light can't penetrate that Susano'o? His Rinnegan can deter even this jutsu?" This means not even the Infinite Tsukuyomi can work on Perfect Susano'o and Rinnegan. Even ChatGPT stated that Pain would win (just for humor about ChatGPT, but it's true that ChatGPT stated that Pain would win).
Rinnegan requires Uchiha and Senju blood to activate. It is extremely rare and powerful. Why would the author make Rinnegan so LEGENDARY? The story made it clear that it was more powerful than any eye, including Mangekyō Sharingan. All that legendary talk for what? All that we know for sure is that the author, Masashi Kishimoto, stated that Pain is the strongest Akatsuki.
"The strongest man in Akatsuki heads for Naruto." Some people try to curve this by stating the time when Itachi gave Naruto his power, but obviously, it was referring to Pain because he was FINALLY being revealed.
Here's another question. Why didn't Itachi use Tsukuyomi right after Nagato casted Chibaku (Planetary Devastation), nor at all? Itachi knew he had infinite chakra too. He could've disable Nagato so easily with it. Itachi probably knew that it wouldn't have worked against Rinnegan. If he wasn't sure then he would've at least tested it out because it's better than risking death or being captured. Itachi used Amaterasu multiple times, but he wouldn't even use Tsukuyomi once? It's because he never used it that answers the question about Rinnegan able to block all visual genjutsu, including Tsukuyomi.
There are so many ways this fight can last long. Pain will keep reviving. Itachi will have a tough time catching him. Nagato, aka 7th Pain, can summon the Gedo Statue that's even bigger than Choji and his dad. Even they needed help. If used right, it can hurt a lot. Itachi's Yata Mirror is strong, but it doesn't cover everywhere. Susano'o can only handle so much against multiple attacks simultaneously. There are ways for Pain to grab Susanoo's arm that's holding the Totsuka blade, like his lizard's tongue or other animals biting it. Pain could even absorb away the Susano'o because Susano'o is chakra construct. Pain could use his Almighty Push hidden under the ground to blow away Susano'o while Itachi is being distracted fighting others. We all saw how much Itachi lost chakra each time he used his eye powers.
Eventually, Itachi will deplete all his chakra. Pain will rip out Itachi's soul with one touch while the others attack (not all 6). Itachi can never waste his chakra against Pain. Nagato is from the Uzumaki clan, which carries the most chakra. If this fight drags, it'll come down to who has more chakra. Pain wins. (6 Pains)
Itachi's two eyes versus 6 Pains + 7th Pain with All Powers. Izanagi will be useless against Chibaku because he'll just get pulled up again. It won't matter how long his Izanagi lasts. I doubt Izanagi and Izanami link all the Pains. Itachi might have to fight blind against the 7th Pain. And that's IF Itachi could figure out how to kill him without chakra. Either way, one touch is all Nagato will need to rip out Itachi's soul.
Pull + Rip = dead.

Perhaps but right before Nagato was hit with the totsuka blade, his summonings were embedded with Itachi’s kunai. And given that there was summonings all over the place, Itachi either blitzed them or found a blind spot in their field of vision. It’s shown right after Itachi saves Naruto and Bee. By disregarding the visions of the summonings this should’ve immediately notified Nagato or Kabuto that something was wrong.

It's a debate bc Itachi's win condition is so out there like Kamui or Itachi's genjutsu trump card he used against Kabuto. It's an interesting topic to talk about. Nagato can multi-task just fine against a single target. He toyed with Jiraiya for the first part of the fight & tricked him with a shadow clone. You're obviously right. Nagato isn't a slouch & in other comments I've explained how Nagato has finesse in probably more areas than Itachi as a fighter. Chakra manipulation, using multiple ninjutsu or ninjutsu mastery, mastered sensory, physical enhancement, overall speed he uses to close the gap/kite which is different from taijutsu/combat speed. He has skill sets that are clutch & make up for Itachi's overall witty / speed feats.

Itachi has no real chance against Nagato, given his abilities can easily keep him away from the sword.
itachi catching nagat off guard made absolutely 0 sense, nagato is a sensor he should have been able to keep track of him with the smoke(and even with smoke the paths of pains weaker than nagato were able to defend themselves in the smoke), even if his summonings got his eyes filled with kunais that would have been enough to warn nagato that itachi is about to go after him next.
In my mind Itachi having to risk Bee & Naruto's death in order to get a opening is a bad sign

Nagato should wipe the floor with Itchi. I am not sure it should be able to be absorbed at least not easily. I would like to think Pain would be able to disable Itchi and prevent Itchi from using his Susanoo. Although it's not put in the anime for 'reasons' Given that Mai was able to burn through the Susanoo with lava release and Tusnade was able to punch through Madara's with her fist. A Rinnegan user should be able to do something against the Susanoo. Itchi without the Totsuka blade doesn't stand a chance. But he does have it. Making it a little bit dicey for Nagato but he should still be able avoid throw stuff at Itchi and win.

Once nagato brings out the gedo statue i really don't see what itachi is doing about it. His only win condition is either Tsukuyomi or Izanami, if nagato falls for a genjutsu itachi could just walk up and stab him, but given that the rinnegan is just a hyper advanced sharingan its not clear if such jutsu would even work, after all sasuke could negate the infinite tsukuyomi with his rinnegan.

The bijudama probably did most of the work blowing up chibaku tensei. Nagato is also once again fighting to capture not kill. Kabuto is ignoring itatchi.

So you downplay a 3 on one, imply Kabuto scales to Obito or Madara which is unbelievably absurd as he doesn’t even seem to scale to White Zetsu Orochimaru who in turn doesn’t scale to Tobirama. And now because a sound based genjutsu works a doujutsu should work against a stronger Sharingan… it should also go without saying Nagato was Way stronger than any individual Path’s. to be caught in Kotoamatsukami you need to be in the line of sight of the person ( you need to be able to see him and kerp your eye on him) and we Know Kaguya,Madara and Momoshiki wont stay still

And the jutsu only lets you control the person fir a particular period of time so the will escape Kotoamatsukami’s control eventually

I really don't know if amaterasu is truly a threat to Nagato himself, maybe it is with his summons but the fact that he sensed it and still had plenty of time to react to it but didn't, that just tells me that he wanted that to happen so that he could absorb the chakra but it clearly wasn't enough because after that he just simply pushes it away.
Alive prime Nagato vs edo Itachi probably slaps. Itachi was one of the few characters who got stronger as an edo. We saw what the true rinnegan was capable of with Madara after he was revived so a prime revived Nagato would be nearly unstoppable. I know that I'm kind of late to this, or I may have missed this point of discussion in the video, however, it is worth mentioning that in a hypothetical fight between both of them in their healthy and alive versions, Nagato can summon the Gedo statue, and use that broken soul dragon jutsu that he used on Hanzo's army that may or may not end the fight right there. You could make an argument for Itachi being able to seal the attack or the Gedo Mazo itself if Nagato uses it but, I don't think there's anything that supports the Totsuka blade being able to absorb or seal another spiritual/ethereal weapon.

In one scene sage kabuto says “I couldnt react” when itachi came out of nowhere and hit him. And we see sage kabuto able to blitz itachi, yeah he wasn’t trying to kill Nagato, but he was evading attacks when he could. When both are alive and healthy Nagato slams itachi no doubt. Edo itachi vs edo nagato is a little closer to a draw but I still think nagato wins high diff. Edo Nagato seems to have been purposely nerfed by Kishimoto to easily write him out of the story. He was for some reason brought back with no chakra and kept crippled despite him both having the Edo healing factor & access to the Asura path which should easily be able to fix his legs. It was purely plot induced stupidity that Nagato was even comparable to Itachi. Pain who is weaker than Edo Nagato bodied all of Konoha BEFORE he even began fighting Naruto… do you realize how much Chakra that means crippled near death Nagato had to have had? Personally, I don't agree that itachi is suppressed. It is stated many times that edo tensei bodies react automatically and their will has nothing to say. So while Naruto may be limited to talk (while alive), there's no evidence that itachi is limited in speed here, rather it's his top speed with a basic sharingan. Pretty good movie

The very fact they have to take the edo version which significantly reduces nagato’s main advantage (disparity in chakra pool) shows you that you have to simultaneously buff Itachi and nerf Nagato to even try to make this a debate.

And not just slow float, Deva outsped full charge six tail naruto pissed and ready to kill using flight and surfing where Gravity moved him. Thst was mid charging chibaku so its even a passive ability the path has.
Nagato just letting them chat and figure out chibaku is all on Kabuto. He could increase the pull even greater then Deva based on the fact his version of the abilities are far stronger, and he has infinite chakra now. No stammina issues.
Being blitzed/suprised also only occured because as Kabuto states, he didnt know of Kabutos sebsory ability.
How did the summons get all blinded? Kabuto left them as sitting ducks. Didnt keep them mobile as Nagato did ad pain every fight. Dudnt even bother keeping the charmeleon invisiblr or split the dogs! Naruto catches amateradu on chakra he tosses away. The dogs can just split amaterasu off.
All based on white hair is "tasked" to capture Naruto and Bee. And itachi reprogrammed himself. So Nagato is easily able he prepairs amaterasu, but not tasked to fight his ally in the task.
This forces Kabuto to DIRECTLY control him. Wich we see in how he fights, and by how he hokds the handsign and directly commands/comments what he does

I'll talk about a few opinions on later points, particularly Gedo Statue, Planetary Devastation, and Soul Snatch.
I don't see any reason why Itachi couldn't use Totsuka to seal or injure the Gedo Statue, regardless of form, even if Nagato can summon it.
In terms of Planetary Devastation, another very valid way for Itachi to deal with it (that would ultimately prolong the fight yet give him advantage in a few ways for the "next move" is to charge towards the center and cut/stab it with Totsuka Blade, as that should basically render it useless via sealing the chakra that makes it or completely slicing the stability of it. One could counter with a potential "why didn't he" or something to that effect, but, really, it's simple to see why he wouldn't: (1) potential prolonged endangerment of Bee and Naruto and (2) there's no use in gaining a vantage point for your next move, if you have a way to perceivably end the fight with another set up.
Regarding the Soul Snatch, we also don't see how long it will last or if it would work on an Edo individual. Not to say it wouldn't move the soul, but said soul is bound to the living world and will have a body reform around it anyway, as is the nature of reanimation (that being their bodies could be completely destroyed and they'd still exist/regen). Essentially 3 issues arise. One is that it will not "kill" a reanimated individual in terms of forcing the soul to the afterlife (bound to the Edo Summon Contract). Two is that the body may die, but it will reform around the individual's soul (perceivably). Three: even if the soul/chakra body is held for longer than we see in the series, it presumably takes chakra for the jutsu to be used, while the reanimated soul being held can essentially continue to fight the jutsu without having chakra zapped away, since they have an endless supply that they wouldn't be using.
To further discuss things, there's no reason to say Itachi couldn't hold his soul, like Naruto (since Naruto used his hands as well), while he uses other jutsu to at least attempt helping himself, like Amaterasu and/or Susano'o.
In essence, then, it seems that it comes down to an eternal battle, if we don't simply say Itachi wins some way or another, as he will continue to adapt to Nagato over time, while Nagato doesn't hold the same mental capacity to keep up with Itachi and adapt as fast.
Nagato has the mental capacity to trick Jiraiya with a shadow clone, take on the entire leaf village although does get caught off guard several times. Itachi alone would not be too much for Nagato in a 1 on 1. The debate is whether Itachi is adaptable to Nagato. If he is adaptable, his best genjutsu Trump card he used against Kabuto would actually win the fight.
Otherwise, he gets blitzed up to the mid duration of a typical Naruto fight.

This is not a comment on the video, per se, but I feel like these are more or less the upper echelons of Shinobi when considering who they are as individuals. They are powerful as hell, like unreasonably so. But what bothers me is when people start saying that Itachi could beat Madara, or that Pain was a mid Naruto boss before the final boss, because Pain came before Madara/Obito/Kaguya. The latter three were infused with essentially the powers of literal gods, and you really can't compare an individual Shinobi's skills against alien mother of all Chakra, or guys who are reincarnation of shinobi gods infused the powers of all tailed beasts. It kinda just puts a spotlight on this insane power scaling that happend in the latter half of Shippuden. Personally, I think Naruto should have ended with Pain. He was Naruto's perfect foil, presented Naruto an opportunity to win things his way (talk no jutsu), and it earned him the ultimate respect of the villagers, which is what he was after all along.
Before watching the video: as long as you're not an Itachi stan, or say "but Tsukuyomi 🤓", you already know that Tendo alone solos Itachi. High difficulty if you want to be like that.
That's when he's alive. And Pain is practically immune to genjutsu. Boom there's a massive amount of Itachi's arsenal that's useless

Pain is most definitely not immune to genjutsu as we literally saw 3 of them get trapped in it. We also see rinnegan Sasuke caught in visual genjutsu.
Susanoo is spiritual, as are tutska blade, yata magatama and yata mirror, so they cannot be absorbed.

The lack of mobility and the difference in speed is what ruins it for Nagato. Nagato's AP is stronger with Planetary, sure. But in a death match he never even gets that far, Itachi blitzes with the Totsuka Blade basically just as he did in the series at the end. In the end they are very relative though, they're comparable in almost every aspect.
I don't have a ton of faith in Tsukuyomi being fully effective against Nagato because his dual Rinnegan likely retain some of the Sharingan's own ability to resist and counter ocular Genjutsu. It probably would still work, since like Kakashi, Nagato does not have the kekkei genkai to match his eyes, BUT, this is dual Rinnegan we're talking about, not a single base three tomoe Sharingan. Amaterasu gets pushed off or absorbed, so Itachi would have to result to his spirit weapons. But here's an interaction NOBODY ever talks about except for me...
If Itachi were to get caught in Planetary Devastation, and let's say he tries Yasaka Beads first and that doesn't work, he still has his spirit weapons to fall back on. He can either try to use the Totsuka Blade to destroy it, or, and this one is far more likely to work, allow the gravitational pull to draw him in, aim the Yata Mirror at the core, when the core hits the Yata Mirror, all of its gravitational energy will be reflected back onto itself, completely obliterating the core. A basic understand of energy transfer would lead anyone to this conclusion. The Yata Mirror negs Planetary, so it doesn't matter if Nagato's AP is higher, Itachi can reflect it. The Yata Mirror followed by a blitz with the Totsuka Blade is all Itachi needs to deal with Nagato or really 99% of the verse honestly.
I'm pretty sure the mirror doesn't work in such indirect way.

A collision of two objects is a collision of two objects, it doesn't really matter if the Planetary Devastation is dropped on Itachi at 500mph or if Itachi slams the Yata Mirror into it at 500mph, the end result would be the same thing, force is being applied to the shield and the shield's effect would reflect that force in either scenario. There's nothing indirect about the Yata Mirror coming into contact with Planetary Devastation, you just haven't broadened your thinking enough to figure this out.
Let's not forget Sasuke is basically the nerfed fusion of these two(because once Sasuke got their abilities they were either nerfed or forgotten so Sasuke wouldn't one shot Naruto)
I think everyone keeps forgetting that Nagano is a cripple and could barely walk. he's not not mobile like itachi. and everyone thinks itachis mangekyou is the end all be all as if he can spam it all day long. 1 tsyukiyomi against kakashi and 1 amaterasu against jiraiya put him out of commission.
Itachi has great counters for the summons and their all seeing vision with his shuriken jutsu. But he doesn’t have the power to deal with chubaku tensei alone. That’s all.

Itachi didn’t know about rasenshuriken or B being a jinchuriki
He says use your strongest attacks but giving he isn’t aware of those abilities it indicates he’s confident his attack can beat CT but is playing it safe.
Naruto hadn’t developed the jutsu when itachi was alive and interacted with him, and itachi never saw any long range jutsu from naruto.
B was kept hidden for years and even obito had no clue who b was or what he looked like
Itachi sees the tentacle but that doesn’t matter as nobody knew what the 8 tails or the host looked like and itachi makes 0 indication of this. Sasuke had to basically I vestigate to find out who B was
Nagato’s Rinnegan was an EMS though, so there’s a solid argument that he could break out of tsukuyomi
I’m curious how we scale the durability of the susanoo, and the offensive capabilities of the planetary devastation. Because it can be argued that the imperfect full armored susanoo can break Itachi out of chubaku tensei. Madara’s skeletal form was able to break out of Garaa’s sealing pyramid that seemed big enough to engulf a tailed beast. We know that the 9 tails in its 8th tailed form was able to force himself out of it, confirming there is a limit. The full susanoo scales around the 9 tails whom is easily the strongest tailed beast. We saw Sasuke use it to seal all of them, however it can be argued this depends on how powerful the user is since he used his 6paths rennegan. I think Itachi’s susanoo would be able to manifest and force himself out of it with the totska blade piercing through the ball since there’s a limit to how much earth the ball can absorb.
Nagato can’t absorb the Amaterasu fire, and it would press a lot of the paths of pains as the fire has a non stop burning feature. If Itachi pulls out the totska blade, I can’t see the paths being able to get the bodies back because the gourd is a sealing jutsu, and if it’s a sealing jutsu, would Nagato be perceiving the same thing as that path would? As long as Itachi has the susanoo, I can’t see any of the paths being durable enough to survive and create an opening to Itachi himself without him killing them off quickly. Lastly, with the speed on which he figured out the shared vision (with no prior interaction mind you), he would likely aim for the king of hell first. Nagato would have better luck picking at Itachi till he runs out of stamina and hope the susanoo stops. But as we saw, his susanoo stood up literally until he dropped dead. I’m taking Itachi.
That Nagato did not have enough chakra because of the shinra tensei he used beforehand. Also he promts that he can make it bigger after kyubi breaks out of it.
Most of what you said is inaccurate. There’s no way the upper body Susanoo gets out of the Chibaku Tensei by saturating it, what kind of logic is that? Nagato CAN absorve the Amaterasu fire, the series does it’s best to show that Amaterasu is useless at that level, it is a no factor. The king of Hell can be made invisible and intangible as seen in the Pain arc, and Susanoo can be absorbed, it is just chakra. Even if it wasn’t, the intangible king of hell can absorb souls, Itachi has no defensive tools against Nagato. His only offense is Totsuka, and for Nagato to be hit by it he would have to just not move

Amaterasu is NOTHING to Nagato. He could simply absorb it, or repel it with Almighty Push. Without Totska Blade, Itachi has ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE to win this battle, and with it he stands a good chance if he can just jab Nagato with it. Nagato, at first chance, stands a great chance of winning this, with all the jutsu/summons he gas available.
I would think nagato would win for a lot of reasons because the later half of the fight the reaction time wasn’t nagato but kabuto as kabuto was directly controlling him in the later half so some feats. Also nagato has a lot of one hit moves the dragons were stated to be ethereal not able to be blocked and were one hit same thing with almighty pull into soul steal

I dont see why Itachi wouldn´t be able to seal gedo mazo with the totsuka if he needed to. It´s certainly an epic fight, Nagato has more raw power and versatility, Itachi has better physical stats, battle iq and some dangerous abilities for nagato, specially tsukuyomi and totsuka. Id say its 50/50.

Amaturasu is so weird. Sasuke hits 8 tails with it and 8 tails is screaming in pain, sasuke with itachis eye hits obito with it and obito is panicking (people say obito let himself get hit with it to impress sasuke that he can get out of it but why would obito panic like that if he wanted to impress sasuke? By the mechanics of how it works nagato should be able to absorb the susano. He can absorb chakra and the susano is made of chakra. Seems pretty cut and dry. The counter argument of why didn't he do so are answered by, the first time itachi tagged him, he didn't see the attack coming. He needed to see it to begin absorption. The second time, the totska blade is some effervescent spiritual weapon so it couldn't be absorbed. It realistically shouldn't be any different from nagato absorbing bee's v2 cloak.
I don't think it could, if you go by that, then he could also have absorved bijuus since they are made of chakra...

About renniegan vs genjutsu: I see ur points with the rikage, but following that line of thinking. Nagato has practically more chakra than Naruto and half nine tails put together. So it’s difficult to keep him under genjutsu. If he flexes his chakra to “release!” the tsykinomi.
nagato is a very good sensory type so I think he’d be at least able to check if he’s under one. He could also sense right before itachi used Amaterasu, so he might be able to anticipate tsykinomi.
The renniegan is above the EMS/MS. It lets you read the WHOLE uchia stone tablet. Itachi is a very skilled user, but it’s easier to break out of genjutsu than it is to keep someone under.
The issue with trying to release the Tsukuyomi is that the entire genjutsu is over before you or anyone has even blinked
So it’s not realistic for anyone to be able to flair up their chakra unless you think flairing up your chakra is like- hundreds of times faster than blinking or something ridiculous like that. Which while technically can be true as we don’t really know, it is unlikely
Also if Nagato was unable to react to Amaterasu being fired at him, I’m not too sure if he can react to Tsukuyomi

At 20:57 you talk about how chibaku tensei is more than itachi alone can handle but never discussed why Amaterasu wouldn’t simply burn the whole thing away. Throughout the entire series we never see Amaterasu extinguished we’ve seen it sealed by jiraiya pushed away by nagato with shinra tensei and abosorbed by madara but never extinguished it’s not like the center of gravity for the chibaku tensei is a black hole nothings getting pulled into it only pulled towards it so if it was lit on fire with Amaterasu the core would try to pull the flames towards itself causing everything to burn away until it reaches the core and then burns away the core too
