This debate is basically: who would win, a 190 lb man, or a 200 lb man? Where one obviously has a slight advantage, but is that advantage enough to completely foretell a match?
I think this fight would come down to stamina and who can outlast the other and I think Male Lions who are used to fighting other male lions and don't have fear , would break the tiger's confidence.
@@ThunderGodTGhow well did weight workout for Logan Paul fighting Mayweather how well did weight and power workout for George Foreman fighting Muhammad Ali tiger does not grow up in a social environment who and where and how is the tiger developing its skills fighting? Experience matters my Friend power and endurance is nothing if you don't know how to regulate them as far as the coliseum tigers where rare tigers have always been more than lions so there would be a abundance of lions being held at the coliseum prolonged periods of time where tigers not so much when the guy that helped bring tigers back from almost Extinction says a tiger can never beat a full grown male lion 11years experience I think it's safe to say the tiger cannot beat a lion he also said that before asiatic lions where terminated by men in large numbers tigers had completely disappeard from the region so if it wasn't for human intervention wouldn't be anything to debate about tigers would have been extinct long ago that doesn't sound like an animal with an edge to me sounds completely the opposite
And the supposed 190lb man essentially has an mma background while the 200lb man only fights street fights Experience will pay a big role in this along with their bodies' unique characters for fighting which both go to the lion that constantly fights other lions which eventually made them evolve to have stronger front limbs better suited for fighting While tigers rarely compete agaisnt other tigers hence they only evolved to become better hunters which explains their stronger hind legs for lunging at prey
One thing I'd like to say is that often times scientists for whatever reason conflate PSI which is a measure of bite pressure with bite "force" to the general public. Forces and pressures are different things, forces are measured in units like newtons, whereas pressure is some force over some area in this instance being measured in pounds per square inch. So an animal with a weak bite can have a larger psi due to its tooth or teeth having a smaller area of contact and vice versa. That being said, yes tigers and lions have pretty much the same bite force but hyenas don't. They have a bite force less than half of that. There's a paper called "bite club" that elaborates this further. The measurements of psi are typically done through transducers or other measuring equipments which can give varying results for various reasons, such as the animal not biting as hard as it can or biting at different angles which would change the area of contact. So the paper actually measures the bite "force" using the literal anatomy of the animals. And it shows that lions and tigers bite more than 2x the force of a typical hyena. Another interesting thing to note is whether or not the animal is biting harder for its size. This is measured through bfq or the bite force quotient and it shows that hyeanas actually do bite as hard as lions and tigers relative to their size, so though they have a weaker bite overall they actually bite as hard as lions and tigers for their size. In other words big cats and hyeanas have the same bite force at the same size. Lions and such have a bigger bite only cause they're bigger in size. For further understanding you can check out Professor Steve Wroe's channel "real paleontology" where he explains why bite forces change asymmetrically relative to size, a phenomenon called isometry (basically due to the square cube law) and he also debunks the hyena's bone crushing bite myth making it a bigger biter than lions. He shows that it's actually the hyenas dentition that allows them to concentrate the bite on their carnassials to break bones. It's not that lions can't, it's just that lions have thinner blade like carnassials that'd break if they were to do so. Their carnassials are that way because they use suffocating bites to subdue prey to spread out that huge force over the windpipe or spine of the prey to suffocate them. He's also one of the authors of the said "bite club" paper.
The whole thing about Tigers defeating lions at the Roman coliseum is bs. They used a line from a poem . One line. Samuel Haugton gleamed a line from a poem of Martial
Yeah. The tiger with the 72.6% muscle was a specimen with s. fat of Q.2% (it was decomposing) which is very low compared to a tiger of healthy near-living body condition. Basically that overstates the other components of total body mass (skeleton, organs, and muscle). A 3-4y Siberian male (Kaplanov, 1940) had muscle percentage of 56% which makes sense. As for the bite force, it is better to use Newtons (N) which is used for force, instead of psi (used for pressure). And yes, tigers have the better BFQ even here, so at similar body masses, the tiger bites harder even then (130 v. 123). For the Ankara Zoo incident, it has been shown that it was actually a case of the tiger wrestling down and killing the lion, so it was not a oneshotting. As for Rome, the original source (Martial) stated an incident of a tiger killing a lion, and this has been used a lot throughout history, but they have neglected the fact that Martial followed it up with stating it was an uncommon event.
The Ankara zoo incident was a tiger sneaking up on a young lion that was caught unaware. No tiger would dare approach a grown alpha male lion in its prime head on
@@jancyvargheese5351 Did you watch the video I assume flew over your head? The outcome relies on the individual animal. @@1000x-e7jthey don’t usually live together in the wild. Also, the Siberian Tiger project (guys who studied the animals themselves) has Bengals and South African Lions above the former in terms of average weight distribution.
Actually though, could one single Chimera ant from their first appearance when Kite blew up a nest of them solo and entire nest of Bullet ants? One of those ants jumped a good couple meters and managed to bite through base Killua's skin, which should still be tougher than most metals probably.
One thing it's clear. In the first part of the fight, the tiger has a great advantage because it is able to fight on its hind legs. Its front legs are much faster than lions, the tiger boxes better than the lion. Lions are not used to box. And it seems that a good stroke to the neck, even though the lion's mane, can kill a lion because it has already happened in the past. We humans also wear thick clothes, but if we fall, our skin breaks.
Well u the type of ppl who watch an entirely detailed scientific explanation video & still comes up with his very own , self taught but in no way correct interpretations....Tiger is a better boxer u say😂😂😂U still looking for any tiny bs to advocate ur biase&preferences....
Dude is a bias but doesn't want to lie though that 5.5/10 is too much. The tiger has just too many advantages in one on one fight like how tigers are way more agile, better reflexes and even the better fighting technique while lions doesn't really have that much clear advantage. Just like he said, lions are like bulldogs, lions rely on brute strength and biting is their main attack while tigers is literally just like a house cat. There's dozen of videos of cats fending off a dog attack. Dog will bulldoze his way to bite just to suffer a dozen of scratch on its face. Same scenario will happen in lion vs tiger but the difference is their size are the same. Also with the tiger who can stand on their two hind legs and use their forelegs to attack and wrestle their opponents, also, just look at their forelegs and front paws, the difference are massive. Tiger's forelegs are bigger and its paws are almost double the size of the lion's. Lion most of time having its face battered by paw swipes before manage to get a bite. Lions who fought a tiger are lucky because tigers never really seek dominance and avoid fights if it has an option. Best conditioned tiger vs best conditioned lion is around 6.5 or 7/10 with the favor of tiger.
@@MuscularGorill yep because tigers are the opposite of the lions. Lions seeks dominance because of their social nature while tigers avoid fights if necessary because of their solitary nature. Great video as always TG love you switching up the content a bit. One thing I’d consider though is the fact that lions are constantly around other lions playing and fighting. Tigers on the other hand are almost always alone so they don’t have much experience combatting other big cats. Almost like how dudes with a bunch of brothers generally are naturally are a little scrappier than an only child who didn’t grow up fighting over the last bowl of Reese’s Puffs
I like the change up!!! I think the zoo encounter is a good example of an advantageous situation for the lion; it’s a close range fight without a lot of room for the tiger to make use of its agility! Thx for the cool video!
Lions are on average are the same size as tigers. Lions are more intelligent, they take on larger prey alone, they are just as capable of killing solo as tigers, they are built more compactly and have a protective mane to defend from the tigers neck bites, they also have more durability and endurance, having the most stamina of the big cats due to being open plains chasers, they are more aggressive and ready to confront opponents, and in footage of both cats fighting each other, the lion usually seems to be the dominant combatant.
What you said is mainly true but you are mixing in both the female and male lions. Male lions usually lay down and protect the pack while the female lions do hunting. If you are going to put a female lion into a fight with a tiger well the outcome won’t be very good for the lion but if it’s a male lion the chances are the tiger would out class it in most cases.
The mane isn't there as a defense, it's just a sexual display structure that is more attractive to lionesses. Doesn't necessarily helpnin combat, it's just hair, not armor.
Siberian and bengal tigers are not only bigger but they have higher muscle density overall and they hunt huge prey always on their own with a way higher success rate than a lone lion… now that’s hunting, and because the tiger is a solitary animal it’s not much of a fighter as the lion since injury costs them more than a lion when it has the protection of the pack and is willing to risk more.
More of these! Personally I’d lean 6/10ish and I do feel like it’s in a tier above, doesn’t mean there’s a HUGE gap. I just feel like the Tiger can win more ways than because their muscle and physiology structure
Tigers on hind legs is a liability, it can't generate maximum power in paw swipes, it tires put quicker, can be knocked off balance, and it's weak spot is a target. Lions also have more endurance, stamina, durability and fight experience. They are built to fight and fight much longer than tigers.

Pretty good research. Tigers and lions are pretty relative to each other in their potential stats but it seems like Lions have a more bulky but robust skeleton frame at full grown while full grown tigers are more agilie and flexible. Both have different attack methods when it comes to using their paws. This makes me wonder of different other comparisons like how strong would Biblical monsters like the nephilim giants would have been on average. The giant of Kandahar was a 15 footer slightly taller then the philistines giant Goliath was able to directly take multiple military arms fire point blank to the face and chest for more then a dozen seconds before going down. Canaanite giants in the Bible are measured up to being 40 feet tall and would have devoured alot of people and cattle. The book of First Enoch and Jubilees giants those would have been complete and utter strong monsters especially the first generation being the biggest and most evil of them all. About 450 feet tall with the 300 cubits measurement. So imagine a giant six finger humanoid taller then Cloverfield and the modern Godzilla running around going on an unrestrained rampage. It must have been a living nightmare for the pre flood humans like Enoch to witness. More hostile then Warhammer Fantasy monsters.

Lion's are also better built to face off against other big cats too due to their forced natural selection they have going on lol. Male lions literally have to beat/kill another male lion that owns a pride to takeover said pride if they ever want to breed and spread their genes. So the lion's tradition of kicking out a sub adult to force them to survive alone eventually having to takeover a pride of their own or else they can't reproduce straight up weed out the weak that are unfit to fight other male lions. Hence lion's eventually evolved to have stronger front limbs as its more suitable for fighting other big cats Incontrast, tigers rarely have to compete with other tigers, so they just evolved to be better hunters hence their stronger hind legs for lunging at prey So all in all, while tigers are generally bigger than lions not by a extreme amount as mentioned in the vid, lions on the other hand are more suited for actually fighting other big cats so this matchup can really go either way
Actually as a history major who has spent most of my life besides being an athlete and playing D1 Football along as a diehard fan ironically of the Cincinnati Bengals and as a Bengal fan appreciate the LSU Tigers due to some of their greatest players playing for the Bengals, but besides that it's the study, research and even visiting the Empires of antiquity. And oddly enough the 4 major empires of the known world especially to a Westerner. That's Babylon, Persia-Medes, United Greece and Rome.. Also somewhat surprising to many is we have historians from all 4 Empires have recorded history of these encounters both in the wild and by the hands of man usually by starving the animals for a week.. The Babylonians and Persians both revered the Tiger and recorded about 70-80% win rate for the Bengal Tiger.. I only know of 2 Greek records and 1 was by a Greek under Roman occupation.. Now the Romans have literal 100s of recorded battles including 1 Bengal Tiger who killed anywhere from 15 to 25 lions depending on which account you believe but there are more Roman accounts of these fights in the Colleseum but also smaller Stadiums and Amphitheaters in the Provinces.. They actually have more recorded encounters than we do if we added up every little skirmish or aggressive behavior in Circuses many times lasting under 10 secs but of every recorded encounter in modern day still doesn't hold up to the amount of fights to the death recorded by the Romans. Depending on whose records and what time period as the numbers vary from 60% to 90% win rates from Tigers. I've read that Romans records have only recorded the results of 1 fight or that the outcomes weren't recorded.. I have no clue where they come up with that bc that is completely false..

I appreciate that you corrected the fake bite force of a lion, but you forgot to mention that a lion has more endurance or stamina when fighting against a tiger and also have broader shoulders and a wider back and bigger neck, a lion is overall better built for fighting by nature and a tiger is better built for hunting even though they can fight as well. In a fight if both cats are males and in their prime, a male African lion can beat a bengal tiger 9 out of 10, even if you put a Siberian tiger vs a Southwest African lion which is the biggest specie of surviving lion nowadays, lions just have more endurance and stamina and fighting experience than tigers. @@omarsali2990 The fact that he said African lions can beat a Bengal tiger 9/10 times is a downright lie. That was what I meant when I said that the original comment's statement is unreliable. And whoever mentioned Siberian tigers? Everyone knows Bengal tigers are the biggest and strongest Panthera cat. I know that having a mane, broader shoulders, and more stamina is a advantage for the lion, but the tiger also have advantages against the lion. Tigers have such strong hind legs, so strong that they are even capable to fight while standing, which they do so commonly. Fighting on hind legs is an advantage since tigers can use both of their paws to swipe and strike at their opponent, with 2x more impact. Lions, on the other hand, can only fight with one paw, a sore disadvantage. In exchange for denser bones to withstand injuries, lions are slower in movement, and also in reflexes. Tiger will use this advantage, since they move faster, agile, flexible, and have faster reflexes. A tiger will use its speed and its two front paws to strike at the lion rapidly fast with 2x force (two paws,) the lion is slower and non-agile (heavier bones) and will only use one paw in the fight while still trying to steady himself on just 3 legs. Since lions process things slower than a tiger, the lion would be overwhelmed with the never-ending swift and fast shots the tiger strikes at him. And even if the lion swipes a blow at the tiger, the tiger would've most likely dodged already, since they have fast reflexes like the domesticated house-cats, the animal that have the best reflexes in the animal kingdom (house-cats are also the most related to tigers, it's not a surprise that they have fast reflexes too.) The only way I see a lion winning the fight is if he catch hold of the tiger and grapple with him, or if the the tiger tires out quickly. BONUS: If you don't believe me, take a look at tiger vs tiger fights and lion vs lion fights. The tigers move faster and wildly and they box each other, the lions move slower and wrestle each other down onto the ground.
@taigaforest2009 well you make you make some point but imma have to correct you on some Lions are as agile as tiger while they don't show any less capabilities in agility they are both extremely good at Travel around even in Forest just because they have heavier bones doesn't mean they are les manoeuvrable it's just that as they pretty much move the same weight with approximately the same muscle mass They also don't have faster reflexes they both have the same , even tho the lion is slightly more intelligent it doesn't mean it's beyond it on reflexes Actually a tiger would be at a disadvantage if they stand up ,lion can do that too but they are some serious disadvantages, tiger use it because it's scary and could potentially harm the eye of the opponent Wich makes other tiger reluctant to fight but fir lion it doesn't really matter because they get into fight to the death if they need to because it's hard for them to survive alone when everything there lives in group especially other lions and using the standing stance to fight other lions is counter productive because it has many weaknesses and doesn't give them any advantage first the paw swipes becomes weaker as while they can hit with both they can't put their body weight behind it properly resulting in much weaker strikes and adding to that it exposes them for take down and open a weak point (stomach and groins)to the enemy and for those reason tiger to don't always use it ,they may be seen doing it during territory fights and when asserting dominance but when they have to fight for a mate or something of that value they'll stay on all 4s this is more dangerous as it could result in a tooth breaking as tiger have slightly longer but also slightly thinner canines Wich can incapacitate them for life and make them more of man eater
Well researched video. We need more videos like this. But one thing, I want to correct is tigers being stronger. Tigers have a stronger, thicker forelimb, and the bicep area, while lions have bigger chest, neck, shoulder, hip, spine and back muscles. The tigers hind legs are stronger than the lion, allowing it to stand on two legs, jump far and high, and has a height advantage when standing up on two legs. However, the lion is significantly taller at the shoulder, at 4 feet vs 3.5 feet for the tiger. If the tiger doesn’t fully stand up, the lion is going to have an advantage in a head to head. The lion also has denser, thicker bone and skeletal structure, which makes it a lot stronger and tankier. Stronger bones can compensate for any weaker limb muscles. And lions have longer limbs which can generate more power, despite tigers having bigger paws. Lions also have more fast twitch muscle fibres, which are very important for strength and power. Tigers weigh 10 to 15kg more on average because they are longer like the video said, and also having higher fat adipose tissue percentage and more skin that’s thicker too. And since lions are more fight experienced in the wild, way more dominant, aggressive, has more testosterone, I would say they have a good edge on the tiger, with 65 to 35 in favour of the lion
I agree on everything but the final percentage, i love Lions, who doesn't 😂, BUT the outcome is MUCH closer than that, i must say its almost 50 50, i give 53 47 for the Lions, because of the point on your comment
The physical superiority the tiger has lies entirely on leaping capabilities which wouldn’t help much in a fight between cats. The lion likely has more experience and a slight edge on upper body wrestling plus the minor defense from the mane. It really could go either way, but the slight differences really cancel each other out or favor the lion
Finally, somebody that actually gives the Lion and Tiger both a chance of winning and doesn't underestimate their power, in my personal opinion, it can go either way 50/50.
The fact is that tigers aren't used to fight as much as lions, ofc they fight each other but almost all the time it never last long bc they're solitary cats, an injurie could sign their end and this is a big difference between them and lions, lions are crazy and aggressive as hell over very small things but especially food, hundred of clips show how much tigers stay away when a lion want to eat first even an outnumbered lion don't back down at all, tigers are just not big risk takers in a general sense, they're more shy and nervous. I used to think that tigers beat lions easily but i quickly change mind after actually seeing what's going on, a tiger have a slim chance of winning but in a general sense, i think the lion takes this(got more stamina, endurance and thick mane who's not easy to pass to grt his throat or neck). They're both beautiful creature though🦁🐯
Think of it as this, a lion knows how to fight and tiger knows when to fight. And that’s completely based off their lifestyles. Yeah lions live a more aggressive and volatile life but that’s because they have a family ti take care of them, the bite first and ask questions later. Whereas tigers are more cunning and thoughtful in their measures of attack. There’s plenty of reports, videos and instances of tigers outsmarting humans and using slick methods to hunt or get revenge on a human. I just find it hard for the tiger to lose if it’s bigger, stronger (not by a lot), faster more agile and balanced than the lion. The mane deciding factor is the mane protecting him but i just feel like the tiger can win/kill him in more ways than one
@@mikewilliams6506the difference is when tigers fight tigers it’s usually 1v1 for territory and this is a rare occurrence. A single Lion can kill dozens of lions a year. Lions also get jumped they invade they do so much more fighting wise. Tigers mainly go for the throat but lions also go for legs spine(I think tigers also go for spine on larger prey) and use tactics like. 1 lion will hide and the other lion will make prey run to their direction to be trapped. This is not close. We know for a fact, that tigers win. We know because of ancient Rome. They would regularly pit lions vs tigers in the coliseum. The tigers almost always won. Ngl love this video! It still works with the same format too but the information was solid and reasonable. Plus tigers ftw. Great video TG keep up the good work 👍🏿
2:56 combat sports' weight classes are done in 5lbs increments, a 50 pound difference is so huge it's like facing a lightweight vs a light heavyweight. Also tigers are used to hunting alone, so they definitely do more work for their dinner as opposed to lions, who rely on their females to do the job, unless it's a huge prey
Yeah, but it's alot more negiglibe when you weight 500lbs than 150-200lbs humans. It's not the same thing at all. Tigers hunt more alone, but at the same time Lions fight each other a whole lot more which is more representative than hunting regarding 1v1 confrontations

I was really disapointed you didn't go into the lions hacks with the manes being so majestic it can disorientate attackers. The guide books (national geographic) uses the term 'majestic' and 'mesmerizing' multiple times when describing the mane. Bro fell off, not even mentioning it XD 😂
Of all the accounts of Lions killing tigers , using the south perth zoo as a reference is weak kiddo... Theres only 1 article , not many or definitely not always , which showed , tiger killed a Lion in the colleseum , and the sentence was followed by 'Unheard of' or almost never happen', which showed clear signs that Lions do indeed dominate tigers or all others animals they made him square up against , and hence it is the Romans who named Lion as the King of Beast, the one who cannot be defeated and the animal who killed all... And by quoting Bert Nelson , not mentioning how Bert will always said, Lions are more dominant, better fighter but quoting where no tigers were killed in 1 incident is also weak or either biased kiddo, ,.. Besides, there are lots of Lion vs tiger videos in which a Lion or Lioness showing absolute proofs why they are indeed the dominant cat but guys like you chose to ignore those and instead using articles from tiger fans which 96℅ of all their words can never be seen on videos .. If anyone argue, then prove tiger fans words with videos , but like I always said , a tiger fan base is purely based on lies , just people spewing their words out of thin air to try and put a timid cat to the level of thr Mighty Lion... 👍👍👍 Edit. Many people who favor tigers over Lions got this wrong, Yes , a Lion behave and fights somehow similar to a dog , but he is a big cat too, with all the weapons that a tiger got and with those combinations added with a very brave heart, fighting techniques, and most importantly a very bushy Lion's mane which is impossible for any neck bite ,So to even think a tiger even got a 50-50 chance is delusional ...
I think the Lions' mane is a major advantage since Tigers usually go for the jugular. But even with that advantage i still think Adult Male tigers ( Siberian or Bengal) are generally more powerful than an Adult male lion (Asian or African). Lions are however a lot braver and wouldn't back off from a fight. Tigers on the other hand would much rather avoid fighting a lion since its not really prey
This an idea played with in some fictional works but, I have not come across any actual examples or instances where it matters to the extent it’d sway the fight.
Truely well research and accurate.. Not like other videos who spread misinformation.. Tho I chose lion as winner but nice video 🔥👍+you should make more videos like this
We most remember that lions are more aggressive than tigers, and they will to fight if they considerate a tiger like a danger; meanwhile tigers, prefers to reatreat for avoid problems.
Btw lions bodies are more so robust and tigers are more so agile and longer as if ts like a loose spring to maneuver thru the jungle and lol where did that stereotype come form in which lions are the king of the jungle😂😂😂
A good review. It's pretty stupid when people assume the fight is one-sided in favor of one of the two big cats.Tigers and lions are opposites in many ways but balanced in many aspects. It is a fight where the merit of the fight definitely does not reside in the species in question, but in the individual. And never to this day have we seen an experienced tiger or lion fight at the height of their strength, and we probably never will, which would keep the real issue a mystery. But it still wouldn't make them any less close, regardless of the outcome.
I have always said it depends on the individual animals.. it could go either way on any given day. They are too similar for there to be one to win every time. People just want their "most favoritest animal ever" to be the winner. Always slides into an adolescent "my dad can beat up your dad" argument. Cool video. Great take on the subject. 👍
Damn I really like these animal videos I’m a fan of lions and I remember spending quite a bit of time looking into this Vs battle years ago with favoritism towards lions cause liked them more came to a similar conclusion which bummed me out 💀 Anyways this was really fun for me 😂
There are many species of tigers. The age size and the health of the cat is very important. In general Bengal and Siberian tigers can kill a lion but if it is sumathran , Malaysian or south China tigers witch are smaller may loose against fully grown lion.
Depends on the experience, ability, aggressiveness, confidence...of each individual animal in both species. In the Roman arenas, the tiger won most of the time because of what was detailed here, but there are individuals from both species that are unbeatable. Overall tiger wins 65% of the time.
The 3400 newton measurement (503 psi ) for gorillas chewing is also dumb . Gorillas have chomped through arms of human caretakers in attack cases . Ofc they do not use same bite methods when chewing vs attacking.
This video is less biased towards one another but relies heavily on speculation. Actual modern-day recorded size and weights should be the only data used, not hearsay from legends and dubious testimonies of hunters who inflate their claims. Scientific tests can be done to test the animals' muscle fiber types, testosterone levels, and performance to get actual speed and jumping ability, etc. In this subject, it is often forgotten that these animals are more similar in morphology, and their difference is primarily superficial. They even serve a similar role in a different environment.
The lion is always at the top of all things. There are no facts that can disapprove their prowess in hunting and fighting...glad we have youtube and nature documentaries that show how they conquer their domain, whether it's hunting dangerous prey, fending off opposing lions and hyenas etc they have been proven to be the toughest cats out there
You made such a amazing video please make more animal vids this debunk video is amazing there’s many close animal battles too like polar bear vs Kodiak bear and many more
Both of these cats evolved in different areas and they were not evolved to compete with each other. Tigers couldn't survive on the plans of Africa they lack the endurance, but Asian lions do exist in the areas where tigers live and thrive.
For the Roman claims, Titus, the emperor in question, has no record of actually organizing a massive Tiger vs Lion fight. In fact, Tiger vs Lion fights are much rarer compared to other animal vs animal fights and especially animal vs gladiator fights. The earliest claims of Tigers always beating Lions came from a 1800’s book.
It's not the reason, there are just about 600 siberian tigers left in the wild, the genepol of big males er very few. Siberian tigers could reach 300 kg easly, but the genes are not there anymore, at least very rare
@ its a known fact due to scarcity of food they are not gaining full potential of size therefore through recent generations the size of the feline is devreasing, while bengal tiger has abundant food the genes is adapting better. Also siberian has a thicker coat due to colder temperatures of environment. Plays in their evolution. Siberian tiger numbers are decreasing but there are growing numbers in china now at 70. And in russia between 400-600. I do believe also that bengal tigers are breeding with siberian tigers in china and near nepal.

Tigers do have a slight muscle mass % .advantage Tigers have front quarters as strong as lions but bigger back quarter as well obviously for turning faster . This also aids in combat . A fight with both of them on their feet will be somewhat equal . A tiger on its back will have weaker defense but extremely likely to gut a lion with Its stronger back legs .
Really informative, thank you!

7:30 This is actually a mistrans by viz. The original text said nothing about a chain only that the tiger was held back by his self doubt.
The whole thing about Tigers defeating lions at the Roman coliseum is bs. They used a line from a poem . One line. Samuel Haugton gleamed a line from a poem of Martial
Samuel Haughton is the same guy that said "18 feet tigers" exist, he was just another delusional tiger enthusiast.
@@marshallwayne-uf4pqthis comment deserves two positive thumbs up!
Agreed his colosseum statement is completely bs. As well as his delusional leaning.
Fascinating I wasn't aware of the exact specifics of that thanks for clarifying

One thing it's clear. In the first part of the fight, the tiger has a great advantage because it is able to fight on its hind legs. Its front legs are much faster than lions, the tiger boxes better than the lion. Lions are not used to box. And it seems that a good stroke to the neck, even though the lion's mane, can kill a lion because it has already happened in the past. We humans also wear thick clothes, but if we fall, our skin breaks.

@@musakhan2123 This is a myth, male lions actually do a lot of their own hunting for large prey especially before they take over a pride.
The mane isn't there as a defense, it's just a sexual display structure that is more attractive to lionesses. Doesn't necessarily helpnin combat, it's just hair, not armor.
No they are not male bengal tigers are bigger on average! The female also by a little
Siberian and bengal tigers are not only bigger but they have higher muscle density overall and they hunt huge prey always on their own with a way higher success rate than a lone lion… now that’s hunting, and because the tiger is a solitary animal it’s not much of a fighter as the lion since injury costs them more than a lion when it has the protection of the pack and is willing to risk more.
More of these! Personally I’d lean 6/10ish and I do feel like it’s in a tier above, doesn’t mean there’s a HUGE gap. I just feel like the Tiger can win more ways than because their muscle and physiology structure
Lions are more muscular than Tigers and frontloaded which is more relevant in a 1v1 confrontation.
Tigers on hind legs is a liability, it can't generate maximum power in paw swipes, it tires put quicker, can be knocked off balance, and it's weak spot is a target. Lions also have more endurance, stamina, durability and fight experience. They are built to fight and fight much longer than tigers.

A tiger is strength and agility personified. Thats a deadly combination, whereas with a lion, its strength and endurance.
Hence lion's eventually evolved to have stronger front limbs as its more suitable for fighting other big cats
Incontrast, tigers rarely have to compete with other tigers, so they just evolved to be better hunters hence their stronger hind legs for lunging at prey
So all in all, while tigers are generally bigger than lions not by a extreme amount as mentioned in the vid, lions on the other hand are more suited for actually fighting other big cats so this matchup can really go either way
Actually as a history major who has spent most of my life besides being an athlete and playing D1 Football along as a diehard fan ironically of the Cincinnati Bengals and as a Bengal fan appreciate the LSU Tigers due to some of their greatest players playing for the Bengals, but besides that it's the study, research and even visiting the Empires of antiquity.
Ron Whitefield, James sahib, Marcel peters, Dave hoover, Frank bostock, Dave salmoni, Oliver goldsmith, George buffon, Jim chipperfield, Pat Anthony, Turin Rudolf, amongst many others reported and documented the lions winning most of the time. 50 reasons lions are superior to tigers, Why lion vs tiger isn't close anatomy of muscularity breakdown part 1Tigers are cowards, Lions vs tigers(submissive tigers)
Great review and a new subscriber as well bro.

This comment just screams bias, so your claim is unreliable. Your pfp says so as-well.
@@taigaforest2009hes actually right on those claims
Lioms do have broder shoulder its just more developed in them
Qnd they do have better stamina but its bad like in all big cats
So in reality it just a 50/50 uts not enough to give them an advantage it just makes them fight on equal ground
The bad claim is the fact that Siberian would have q better chance they are just smaller than both if them by q bit
Like 15kg on average qnd they do not nearly get as big qs they do
Lqrgest bengal verified 317
Largest African lion verified 313
Largest verified Siberian 254
All in kgs
Thats mainly die to Siberians having a small population tho so im pretty convinced that once they'll be on q sufficient number they be just qs big
And even if the lion swipes a blow at the tiger, the tiger would've most likely dodged already, since they have fast reflexes like the domesticated house-cats, the animal that have the best reflexes in the animal kingdom (house-cats are also the most related to tigers, it's not a surprise that they have fast reflexes too.)
The only way I see a lion winning the fight is if he catch hold of the tiger and grapple with him, or if the the tiger tires out quickly.
BONUS: If you don't believe me, take a look at tiger vs tiger fights and lion vs lion fights. The tigers move faster and wildly and they box each other, the lions move slower and wrestle each other down onto the ground.
@taigaforest2009 well you make you make some point but imma have to correct you on some
Lions are as agile as tiger while they don't show any less capabilities in agility they are both extremely good at Travel around even in Forest just because they have heavier bones doesn't mean they are les manoeuvrable it's just that as they pretty much move the same weight with approximately the same muscle mass
They also don't have faster reflexes they both have the same , even tho the lion is slightly more intelligent it doesn't mean it's beyond it on reflexes
Actually a tiger would be at a disadvantage if they stand up ,lion can do that too but they are some serious disadvantages, tiger use it because it's scary and could potentially harm the eye of the opponent Wich makes other tiger reluctant to fight but fir lion it doesn't really matter because they get into fight to the death if they need to because it's hard for them to survive alone when everything there lives in group especially other lions and using the standing stance to fight other lions is counter productive because it has many weaknesses and doesn't give them any advantage first the paw swipes becomes weaker as while they can hit with both they can't put their body weight behind it properly resulting in much weaker strikes and adding to that it exposes them for take down and open a weak point (stomach and groins)to the enemy and for those reason tiger to don't always use it ,they may be seen doing it during territory fights and when asserting dominance but when they have to fight for a mate or something of that value they'll stay on all 4s this is more dangerous as it could result in a tooth breaking as tiger have slightly longer but also slightly thinner canines Wich can incapacitate them for life and make them more of man eater
Amount of intent a lion has to fight is killer
I’d argue lions have much more experience and have fought each other so they have a bit more of an advantage

You’re the goat bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣 your style of humor for power scaling hits the best. Awesome research for this one 💪🏼
Real question: if a house cat had the size of a tiger or a lion, would any other big cats be able to take them on a fight?
Best video yet… not bias on either cat just speaking accurate scientific facts Great Job
I d’avoir the male lion, even a famous zoo keeper said lions win 60% of the time
The fact is that tigers aren't used to fight as much as lions, ofc they fight each other but almost all the time it never last long bc they're solitary cats, an injurie could sign their end and this is a big difference between them and lions, lions are crazy and aggressive as hell over very small things but especially food, hundred of clips show how much tigers stay away when a lion want to eat first even an outnumbered lion don't back down at all, tigers are just not big risk takers in a general sense, they're more shy and nervous.
Lolz what an idiotic comment same as the author of this vid lmao
@eutnikuyaatbpeatunwindandt9444 lol ! How idiotic ? Its just a fact.
When lions fight they go foward use paw and bite tigers stand tall on back legs and use paw swipes. So tiger is more defensive and uses bite less from what I’ve seen.
@@onlyenzoYTWtf are you even talking about? Lions rarely ever fight. A male lion sleep for 20+ hours a day while the lionesses do all of the work and hunting.
Furthermore, young male lions are just a weak. They form small prides with other male lions and jump one single male lion in an effort to take over his pride.
Lions are trash at 1v1 combat. Hell, it’s even seen when they attack. They always fight with three paws on the ground. Pure trash. They get mauled 1v1 by Cape buffalo all of the time 😂. Meanwhile, tigers have been known to hunt down and kill bears. These animals are not comparable. Lions are trash 1v1.
I’m so glad someone made an unbiased video. I’ve been saying for years it’s more about the individual as opposed to the species.
11:00
You didn't talk about the Lion's MANE, which is a special adaption.
If the Tigers goes for the neck, he will have to use more energy to cause greater harm, compared to the Lion.
Wrong. It's been documented..tiger's will swipe mainly against other cats in battles. Tigers have larger claws and a couple of ships and the lions eyes are gone lol
Swips
I guess, but your not gonna kill a Lion with paw swipes.
Not immediately atleast.
Tigers have 4 inch claws...yes it may not kill them....right away atleast.....but they will lose their eyes, massive facial scars..and the lion will back down and run away...long before it dies. Tiger's paws swipes are faster and more efficient than a nec bite. Lion won't get close to a tiger who's raised on its hind legs ..lion will take dozens of paw ships trying to get in...
@@Erik-z5gTigers have 3.6 canines, lions 3.2 canines. Claw size is the same and lion has denser bones. Lions are built to fight and are the only big cats with head movements like a boxer. Lion has significantly more fight experience. It would beat the tiger. The tiger paw swipes especially on hind legs is much less damaging than the lion's.
This is not close. We know for a fact, that tigers win.
We know because of ancient Rome. They would regularly pit lions vs tigers in the coliseum. The tigers almost always won. It wasn't just "more often than not", it was like >90% of the time. It got to the point where they would pit especially large lions vs especially small tigers, or male lions vs female tigers, in order to try to make a more even and interesting fight.
We know all of this because meticulous records were kept and survived to modern times.
It's not close. At all. Tigers win at least 9/10.
U speak as If you were there in ancient Rome stop spurning those tales y'all cos lions and tigers are still alive and I'll believe what I see today when they encounter each other not accounts of Rome.people
@Tuger-p2x are you dumb? Did you not see the part where I said that they kept meticulous records in ancient Rome and those records survived for us to read? I don't have to have been there. Other people were there, and they wrote it down.
And why wouldn't you believe them? Do you think it was some ancient Roman conspiracy to deceive people on the internet 2000 years later?
You are the type of people that believe anything
@@MuscularGorill meticulously kept records spanning hundreds of years? Sure. I'll believe that.
@ you forgot what bias is? Exaggerations like Hungarian tiger killing 30 lions 😂 continue believing people who didn’t even have advanced technology over videos on RUclips where lions bully tigers 😂😂😂
I have never seen a tiger bravely face a lion. I always see a nervousness in the tiger. It is clear that tigers are afraid of lions. They know that the lion is a professional fighter. I do not give the tiger much chance to survive after a fight with a lion. .
Ngl love this video! It still works with the same format too but the information was solid and reasonable. Plus tigers ftw. Great video TG keep up the good work 👍🏿
Lions actually have the highest muscle mass of any mammal 4:22
No they have not! Tigers are stronger!
Male lions don’t hunt because they protect the females from other male lions, invasions and protect cubs.
Yeah, but it's alot more negiglibe when you weight 500lbs than 150-200lbs humans. It's not the same thing at all.
Tigers hunt more alone, but at the same time Lions fight each other a whole lot more which is more representative than hunting regarding 1v1 confrontations
Bro said the truth 👊 please trust him and research your self before saying it lye
Salute to you bro
Remember he is taking about the Bengal tige not Siberian
If you bring a Siberian than you should bring a barbary lion for a proper match

I was really disapointed you didn't go into the lions hacks with the manes being so majestic it can disorientate attackers. The guide books (national geographic) uses the term 'majestic' and 'mesmerizing' multiple times when describing the mane. Bro fell off, not even mentioning it

Edit.
I love it when youtube power scaler channel do something entirely random out of the blue
After the muscle mass I knew you are a fan.
Tigers wont fight to death, it will run away against a Lion. tbh
They are so majestic and beautiful.
5:56 What if the fight in a dark forest? Are lions just screwed?
Also any settings the lion may have a terrain advantage over the tiger?
Lions are used to fighting more often and also have much better stamina and in the animal kingdom , confidence and stamina makes a big difference.
We posting animal fights now, i like it
Remember Clyde beaty lions killing Bengal Tigers like nothing
Damn I really like these animal videos I’m a fan of lions and I remember spending quite a bit of time looking into this Vs battle years ago with favoritism towards lions cause liked them more came to a similar conclusion which bummed me out 💀
Anyways this was really fun for me 😂
There are many species of tigers. The age size and the health of the cat is very important. In general Bengal and Siberian tigers can kill a lion but if it is sumathran , Malaysian or south China tigers witch are smaller may loose against fully grown lion.
Ain't no way our boy ThunderGod doing this video, this gotta be TG with his tomfoolery.
Is any big car killing another with just one paw strike not just fantasy?
Depends on the experience, ability, aggressiveness, confidence...of each individual animal in both species. In the Roman arenas, the tiger won most of the time because of what was detailed here, but there are individuals from both species that are unbeatable. Overall tiger wins 65% of the time.
The 3400 newton measurement (503 psi ) for gorillas chewing is also dumb .
Gorillas have chomped through arms of human caretakers in attack cases .
Ofc they do not use same bite methods when chewing vs attacking.
That "Tigers coming out on top in rome against strongest lion" is pure BS and fake news.
Is it why?
This video is less biased towards one another but relies heavily on speculation. Actual modern-day recorded size and weights should be the only data used, not hearsay from legends and dubious testimonies of hunters who inflate their claims. Scientific tests can be done to test the animals' muscle fiber types, testosterone levels, and performance to get actual speed and jumping ability, etc. In this subject, it is often forgotten that these animals are more similar in morphology, and their difference is primarily superficial. They even serve a similar role in a different environment.
what are your thoughts on Creature Challenge’s breakdown of this fight?
I'm gonna infer that tiger wins based purely on the weight disparity between the two animals.
This man said Thanksgiving theatricals lmao.
😂😂😂
This is legit my favourite power scaling vid 🔥🔥🔥
Recent studies shows that bengal tiger is now larger than the siberian tiger due to abundant of food and siberians scares on food.

Tigers have front quarters as strong as lions but bigger back quarter as well obviously for turning faster .
