Thanks man!!! Yes, I feel that there is good camping on the trail here. I didn’t get to camp that trip, but if I get back out that way, I would definitely want to stay there.
Oh man, I really appreciate your comments, Frank. It was great having my daughter with me to help capture video from outside of the rig. This trail has changed. It seems more washed out I spots, which makes it a little more challenging.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor That’s definitely good to know because my wife and I are going in June to do it. And on another note, we went to Sarah’s Creek this past Saturday and the road at the top after you cross the stream is washed out bad and now impassable for vehicles such as ours, my XJ sets on 8” of lift with 35’s and OX lockers with 4.88 gears front and rear and I wasn’t going to attempt it. It was nice to hear you speak of people doing things on these trails that they shouldn’t be doing because it ruins it for everyone else. Again great job on this video for sure my friend by you and your daughter!!!!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. It is such a fun trail. Couldn’t pass up doing it considering I was in Greensboro with my daughter for a soccer tourney. That’s why I couldn’t go to MOORE.
Too funny we hit Hurricane Creek the same day at 1pm and when we went up to Max Patch roughly around 3:30 it was completely fogged in and misty rain. Ended up leaving there and going over to Old Buzzard Roost Rd.
I’d say probably 5 years or so ago I did that trail with a stock 2017 Chevy Colorado 4x4 . Was nerve wrecking and I had not expected the trail to be as it is but we made it. Nice Bronco!
Thanks so much! This is a great little fun trail. We have done it with the Bronco and with our previous rig, which was a Colorado Bison. Unfortunately, the forest service has graded the whole trail, so it is a lot easier now. Still would be a great place to camp!
Once you get some saddle time in the bronco raptor it’s really not that wide, but it’s amazing what a few inches can do on the trail you just have to be a little more careful sometimes I do a little trail trimming to get through but the stability of the bronco raptor in the comfort just getting to the trail heads in route is amazing I get no driver fatigue it’s the most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever driven and it’s so capable.
Thanks for watching!!! Yes, I am really enjoying the rug. It is so much fun using it for what it is. Even kitted out as a heavy overlander, it is a beast!
Seems those trailers aren’t too big. The trail can be tight in some places, but the good news (or bad) is that the forest service recently graded the road, which makes it easier to navigate and removes all of the obstacles. I think you could make it in.
What happened at the big obstacle between the “rock/tree” and the muddy ruts near the end ? We took some vintage vehicles on the trip and got hung up on the one you didn’t include in the video.
Yeah. A little bit of a brain fart. We made it through fine, my daughter spotted for me again, but I forgot to set up my tripod 😞 Was sort of bummed, but I was focusing on the trail. I had to run my passenger tire right along that edge, so that I didn’t run too high up the wall on the drivers side.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor yeah we did it a couple months back in some vintage Scouts and flat fender jeeps. My video is on my channel at “Vintage Overlanding” I had the scout on two wheels on that one. It was crazy
Thanks for the video. Subscribed! From your videos, it appears we may live in the same region. I'm near Hendersonville, NC. My wife and I are always looking for exploring buddies. If you're close enough, contact us sometime. Anyway, I've done Hurricane several times and your video has me wanting to go again! I'd love camping out on the trail, but concerned of doing it alone. Happy Trails, Tony
Thanks for watching!!! This was our second time there, and it definitely has changed a bit. I have yet to camp there, either, but will have to some day!
Thanks for the video! How did you mount your pelican case to the side trailrax? I'm thinking to do the same but struggling to find a plug and play solution and worried about drilling and water and also don't want everything to fall out of it when I open it. Any insights you're willing to share on that mod I would appreciate it. Thank You.
I have the PaxRax and I used the cross plate to mount the case. I drilled holes through the back of the case and passed a bolt through. I used rubber washers and it is still water proof. Worked out real well and pretty sturdy.
Less than three hours for the trail itself. Depends on how much you stop and a larger group could hold things up a bit. If you go up to Max Patch, then that adds 30-60 minutes and then you would have to add hiking time.
I have seen others that size make it through. Have a spotter with you or another rig, because there are a couple of spots where another set of eyes are pretty crucial. Have a great time!!!!
@ yes. Lots of downed trees and holes. The forest service people were extremely shocked to see me driving 4Runner alone there. It was a little challenging but lots of fun.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor This is priceless information my friend, my son wants to take his yj with me to do hurricane creek and it’s had some major work done for off-road purposes and knowing the width of what we have to work with before going is very important. You have been a great deal of help for us both and we appreciate it so much, thanks again my friend and keep the great videos coming!!! 👍😁
@@StandAloneAdventuresa YJ will have absolutely no problems. I've done hurricane creek twice myself and I'm in a JLU (moderately modified). A YJ is quite a bit narrower than a JL so unless you have super wide axles, you're fine.
You shouldn't air-down at that spot. There's plenty of room down the gravel road a little before the tough part starts. You never know when a convoy of trucks will be turning onto HC, and since there's neither a turn lane nor parking anywhere else, they'll be stuck on the interstate with people going 70+ MPH trying to get around them.
Yeah. I can picture that. The first time we went to hurricane Creek with out other rig, we aired down over by the homesteads. Will be a long time before anyone enters that direction due to Helene.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor Yep. I-40 will be closed indefinitely. They said the west-bound lanes should be stabilized by the beginning of next year, which might be the earliest that HC could reopen if they allow through traffic on those lanes. Otherwise, it could be next October or years before anyone is able to enjoy it.
The Red Beast Wagon fit pretty easily down through there a few weeks ago with some minor pinstripes. I am most likely wider than the Bronco Raptor. I measure out at 84” wide from outside tire to outside tire… ruclips.net/video/fN_fgR_giw8/видео.html
The last time I did this trail in September 2022 I did it in my Chevy Colorado ZR2 AEV Bison. It was fun back then, but the trail has changed a bit. The point of buying the rig is using it!!! 😀 No point of having one to use as pavement process or mall crawler.
My Appologies, I saw the wrap walk around and figured you would never take this off road. My Bad! Please lose the annoying background music, there's something soothing about listening to tires on dirt.
Thanks for watching!!! Yes, the point of the wrap was to be able to get out on the trails and “pinstripe” the wrap, not the factory paint. 😀 Thanks for the feedback on the music.

Great Video! I appreciated you pointing out all the dispersed campsites. It's nice to know they are there rather than just hoping they might be there.

By far the best video out on Hurricane Creek and you guys done an awesome job navigating some of those rough areas. Excellent video my friend !!!

After doing Hurricane creek in my stock 2001 Mitsubishi Monteroa month ago with out getting stuck, this bronco should eat this up like baby food.
Thanks for watching! It sure did and we had a ton of fun!!!!
About to bring my f150 raptor there next week! Hopefully not to many close by scrubs
You will have fun!! Not too many tight spots, but a spotter would be nice for a couple of those obstacles/washouts.
Was there a few weeks ago. Too narrow for raptors.
Hope you had fun!! I hear that they graded the trail after our last trip there. Did the storm wash it out again?

How wide is the Bronco?
Just a little over 7’ wide (85.7”)

Nope!!! A little scratchy in a couple of spots, but that’s why I wrapped it. Made it through like a champ!

Wealthy folks and their expensive play. toys. I plan on trying to do hurricane creek when I trade in my Colorado trail boss on a Colorado zr2.
It ia insane that folks pay close to 100 to 110k for a a vehicle so they can take it off roading on trails like hurricane creek.
