Why not use a descent recovery vehicle? You have a Jeep Rubicon with a winch that would be night and day difference. Nice steady pull and a lot less chance of vehicle damage.
Agreed. Repeatedly yanking with that Honda is going to eventually ruin it. A Jeep would be decent; a PowerWagon would be even better to help get heavier rigs out.
Perhaps…..they are keeping count of how many recoveries….via Honda …they should $$$ this Team for how many that Rig has tugged and Is still the go to..I use my Talon like a Pioneer to snatch folks stuck all day long…just cause I’ll let it take the abuse over my Power Wagon in parts replacements 👍gets the job done….let it rip and hope it does them well in the Long Game😜
That and the hosts don't like it when people drive their course properly. They purposely have them stop in the middle of obstacles and go as slow as possible through the mud sections to get them stuck.
For someone that claims to offroad often, he made a lot of mistakes going though that course. Also, always air down, its a pain in the ass but there was no reason to get stuck in such a mild obstacle with a Raptor.
He made the mistake of letting of the gas and slowing down in the mud and it got him stuck. It looks like if he would have kept steady throttle, he would have made it. You also need to keep the Ram 2500 around as a recovery vehicle with its winch (and snatch block). All that jerking with the Pioneer is going to jar something loose lol
I’ve done this course before in my 4Runner and the camera doesn’t do it justice. You have to enter it slow because of how steep of a drop into the pit it is. Otherwise you’ll smash up your whole front end. It’s a conundrum. You need momentum to get through mud but you can’t build any going into the area.
Was thinking the exact same thing xD I hate how car manufacturers make these incredible off-road cars, deck them out with a whole bunch of features… Only to ship them out with OEM style AT tires that are only good for mild off-roading (like these KO2s or the GY Territory AT OEM series, among others). Makes it so that the buyer has to fork out more money on actually good tires, after their super expensive purchase… And don’t even get me started on SUVs that have some less extreme off road features, but are still decent enough off-road, but come with HT tires! Those are the types of vehicle that should come with the tame OEM AT tires 😂
Colorado mountain trails are not as muddy as most places. If you aren't used to mud it takes some practice. Momentum is your friend in those situations.
Yeah, facts. I have a lot of confidence in my ability to drive dry trails here in CO, but serious mud like that? Wouldn't have a clue. It's no surprise that he got stuck, I think a lot of people who don't drive mud don't really understand or respect it, just like a lot of people coming to CO don't respect or understand the snow. It's knarly stuff, mud. Can tear your whole drivetrain apart in ways dry stuff can't even dream of. I know just enough to have a healthy fear of it.
I respect the owner using the Raptor Bronco for what it’s designed for, I respect the lil ATV, for it’s hard work, but I really respect that tow strap! Great show, all us Ford guys were pulling for you and I’m not sure about the Jeep guys, but off roaders seem to be for everyone getting over the trail and back. A great show!!!!!!!!!
I love this! Use that bronco R! But if the drive would have sent it from the start, i bet it would have made it! And mud tires!!! Wish I had a bronco to send it! 😂
These are fun videos to watch. But You guys really need to stop using a side by side as your recovery vehicle. Considering what’s in your fleet you have much better options that would make it easier to pull out stuck vehicles.
I wonder if airing down would have helped. Great all around tires, but they’re not mud tires and airing down really seems like it would have helped. Love to see a rig like this getting used as it’s meant to be used.
Consistent momentum(wheel spin) and better tires (MT) would have made it through. There is no lack of torque or hp in that motor.. This was technique and traction test rather than brawn 😊
Great video on a capable vehicle. I think most of us understand that if there is no traction then there is no traction regardless what you're driving. But I am not a big proponent for using 4 low in low traction off roading, it's too easy to spin the tires. 4 Hi will help lug the engine keeping the wheels from spinning and then giving you the option for "momentum". Keep up the great videos.
Being in the southeast mountains tire spin in mud clears tread. The thought is spin tire dig threw mud get traction either on bottom or sling enuff mud you go forward as opisit and equal reaction to mud flinging. A bunch of vehicles built spicifcly for mud, they are not as capable in sand... generally build for what you wheel.
I disagree about using 4 hi in deep mud like this. You're not gonna get through that mud pit without wheel spin. Wheel spin and maintaining your speed is what gets you through deep mud. Once you stop like this guy did and dig in, your frame and diffs are sitting on the mud, and you're done. If he had aired down and got on it, he would have made it. You can actually see his front tires started climbing back up, and I thought he was gonna make it, and he stopped.
I had a 79 bronco with 40 inch monster mudders i had a lot of fun never got stuck but went through at least one 9 inch a year..then bought a new bronco every 2 years till they discontinued them great trucks.
You NEVER EVER let the TFL people try to tell you anything about offroading or any car related anything. This is the biggest FARCE of a review channel there is.
This guy cut power every time he started to move forward in the mud. Mud is about momentum. Turn the traction control off and stay on the gas and keep the tires moving.
Yup he was just about out the mud then got cocky and wanted to slow up with his “not to shabby” comment then got stuck😂………..not the trucks fault it was the driver! 🤷🏽♂️
They always do that. Especially when offroading with the g80. As soon as momentum starts they stop.. Also 4lo was the wrong choice. 4hi for mud. Wheel speed and momentum for mud
This guy doesn’t have any mud riding experience. He could have backed up and then gone forward and used momentum. And he’s flooring it being pulled out making it worse. This thing is very capable depending who’s behind the wheel.
That Bronco Raptor should have the Coyote... Am I right? I would be hard pressed to stay away from that... little more fit and finish... very cool ride though..
I like the new bronco but the price is way too high. I have an explorer st with the same engine and transmission with different tuning. Since I don’t off road like that I’m happy
I think you ought to stop having David do ranch work and get his recovery rig in operation. The Pioneer is not ideal for this weight class. Needed the Ram 2500 down there. Something with anchors and a heavy duty winch would work as well.
When you showed in the wheel well the suspension, I noticed a wire with a connector that was exposed,, not sure what it was for. Just wondering if that could be a problem. I mean if your running it hard through bumps, or some heavy mud, it looks like it could be pretty vulnerable and break. Maybe I' m totally wrong, but it did make me wonder.
That's for the coil on the live valve. It's usually tucked away. I would assume it must have come lose. The ones on my raptor are on top of the frame rail and out of the way
BAd mistake stopping in the middle of the mud. In rock crawling it is looked down upon to go fast. Totally opposite in mud, you gotta hammer down all the way thru. I think the braptor could have made it with a better driver. All he did there was make the rut way worse!
Enough Mud will stop just about anything. My Bronco raptor jumps at the dunes and does some crawling but it stops right before it touches a tiny mud puddle.
I wonder, how would that same mud obstacle have turned out, if the Bronco Raptor had some mud terrain tires like Yokohama Geolandar MT, or at least some really aggressive all terrain tires like Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT or similar General Grabber or Nitto versions?
It would be cool if they could add some more rock crawl type obstacles to this course for the vehicles that can do them. Just like a bigger rock garden and some rock steps.
If he airs down to even 25psi i think he makes it through cotton creek. I know he needed the height too, but the wider tire probably helps him float through
Super nice Bronco, but in mud it needs better tires. BF Goodrich are only good on the road & maybe sand. If he had some super swampers on his Bronco it would've made it through the whole course.
Those BFG KO2's are great on sand and rock, but are one of the worst A/T tires I have ever had in mud and snow for the money. Not nearly enough cleanout on the tread pattern.
Hahaha, that guy was way to overly confident with his fancy buttons and didn’t use enough momentum so Mother Earth beat the rookie off-roader lol. Rookies gotta learn the hard way
Airing down, keeping speed up in the mud would be greatly beneficial And yeah as others have mentioned a heavier and more powerful rig for recovery would be prudent. Especially when ppl are suctioned in to mud, a winch makes things much smoother and safer
It looks like you guys had know momentum and didn't air down the tires.. Full psi will cause problems in heavy mud.. Makes it want to dig, not climb out.. Same as sand..
Thats not safe to use kinetic rope this way, and especially film that from the angles of potential shot if shackle will fail. Especally because its fragile U shackle not C like. Use synthetic shacle next time.

Forward momentum is everything when going through the mud!
Yep. Got smug and let off the throttle. Knew it was game over there. 9:17
Makes the course look harder and they don’t want to damage the rubicon any. It’s a road queen lol😂
Bronco is any time better than rubicon
Their Jeep Liberty would make as good recovery rig also
Perhaps…..they are keeping count of how many recoveries….via Honda …they should $$$ this Team for how many that Rig has tugged and Is still the go to..I use my Talon like a Pioneer to snatch folks stuck all day long…just cause I’ll let it take the abuse over my Power Wagon in parts replacements 👍gets the job done….let it rip and hope it does them well in the Long Game😜
Seems like a nice guy, never been through mud before though. Front tires hit the mud, hammer down!
With a little momentum, he wouldn't even feel that mud.
Couldn't believe how over inflated tires are.
they have literally zero idea how to do anything.
Money don’t buy common sense
He made the mistake of letting of the gas and slowing down in the mud and it got him stuck. It looks like if he would have kept steady throttle, he would have made it.
You also need to keep the Ram 2500 around as a recovery vehicle with its winch (and snatch block). All that jerking with the Pioneer is going to jar something loose lol
Yeah I agree with you he would've been able to make if he just used more throttle instead of going slow.
I was thinking that side by side could've gotten damaged while pulling out the Bronco Raptor looked like
I’ve done this course before in my 4Runner and the camera doesn’t do it justice. You have to enter it slow because of how steep of a drop into the pit it is. Otherwise you’ll smash up your whole front end.
It’s a conundrum. You need momentum to get through mud but you can’t build any going into the area.
I am 100% sure they where trying to get it stuck. That’s Bronco needs a driver mod ASAP. “When in doubt, throttle it out!!”
Yep. He wasn't using enough momentum. You never stop in the middle lol
tires were highway pressure... says it all.
A little too overconfident in the mud pit. He may have made it if he didn’t hesitate
The mud test reminded me of a dentist with a 911 turbo , on his first ever track day….😅
KO2s suck in the mud, it's like wearing bowling shoes lol
Was thinking the exact same thing xD
I hate how car manufacturers make these incredible off-road cars, deck them out with a whole bunch of features… Only to ship them out with OEM style AT tires that are only good for mild off-roading (like these KO2s or the GY Territory AT OEM series, among others).

Colorado mountain trails are not as muddy as most places. If you aren't used to mud it takes some practice. Momentum is your friend in those situations.
One of the few situations where "Nathan Mode" will work for you lol.
And 4hi not 4lo
Yeah, facts. I have a lot of confidence in my ability to drive dry trails here in CO, but serious mud like that? Wouldn't have a clue. Not sure Iv ever seen a vehicle make that turn in one try with no backup. Wow. That feature really does work well in a pinch
I love this! Use that bronco R! But if the drive would have sent it from the start, i bet it would have made it! And mud tires!!! Wish I had a bronco to send it! 😂
Trail turn is a neat function, however what it ultimately does it just tear up the trail a lot worse for everyone else.
That’s a great vehicle. If he had approached that mud pit with just a little bit of momentum I think it would’ve been no problem.
These are fun videos to watch. But You guys really need to stop using a side by side as your recovery vehicle. Considering what’s in your fleet you have much better options that would make it easier to pull out stuck vehicles.
But it wouldn't be as,dramatic.
Yeah something with a little more power and mass would be prudent
I wonder if airing down would have helped. Great all around tires, but they’re not mud tires and airing down really seems like it would have helped. Love to see a rig like this getting used as it’s meant to be used.
This is impassable. They should add stones and small rocks into the ruts.
@@bluceree7312- it’s not impassible - I and several others have made it through.
Yes that would have made a difference
Agreed. The failure of the Raptor was the AT instead of MT tires.
Failing component was between the seat and the steering wheel.
Living in Louisiana and having to deal with mud like this all the time we generally have to goose it pretty hard.
Also you use high range in a mud hole. You need wheel speed to keep the tires cleaned out.
I think David needs to chain saw the trees out of there close to trail.
Consistent momentum(wheel spin) and better tires (MT) would have made it through. There is no lack of torque or hp in that motor.. This was technique and traction test rather than brawn 😊
And use 4hi not 4lo
Guy looks like Steve-o
I think it is him
He needed Nathan to drive it. Momentum

Nathan doing a good job again he was gone for a while that’s how long I been following tfl 😅 back in it!
So cool we sold Dan that Braptor!! ❤❤❤ at MSRP he is the coolest guy!
I’m still waiting for mine since last year 😭
@@adalbertoherrera2339 😪 wished I could get like 5 more atleast i have 3 on my list
Bruh you came to a complete stop in 3 ft of mud... And you're surprised it got stuck?
that pioneer man, that thing does work in a lot of videos. The little engine that could.
This guy cut power every time he started to move forward in the mud. Mud is about momentum. Turn the traction control off and stay on the gas and keep the tires moving.

I agree
For a moment I thought was Steve O driving the Bronco Raptor.
The "i'll pay anything to look cool and have people envy me" vehicle.
This might be the dumbest comment on here. You realize how capable this is, right? You sound pretty envious yourself, 🤡
Bro don't be butt hurt
He got way to cocky pushing those locker and sway bar buttons. 😂 bit his ass
I guess having buttons doesn’t make you a better driver lol
This guy doesn’t have any mud riding experience. He could have backed up and then gone forward and used momentum. And he’s flooring it being pulled out making it worse. This thing is very capable depending who’s behind the wheel.
You guys need to learn how to go through things in WV we call that a pot hole, 4 low no go 4 high and let it fly
You guys should do a Hummer ev suv video in a mud like this one.
That Bronco Raptor should have the Coyote... Am I right?
I would be hard pressed to stay away from that...

very cool ride though..
Raptor R has it i think
I like the new bronco but the price is way too high. I have an explorer st with the same engine and transmission with different tuning. Since I don’t off road like that I’m happy
That utv 🔥 I think I’m more impressed with that! I want one
Ohh, I off-road all the time she does great. Few seconds latER...

I think you ought to stop having David do ranch work and get his recovery rig in operation. The Pioneer is not ideal for this weight class. Needed the Ram 2500 down there. Something with anchors and a heavy duty winch would work as well.
Even the most expensive and heaviest off the shelf Bronco available is capable of getting stuck in mud...
Mud tires would’ve helped tremendously. But yeah, anything will get buried in mud.
I feel like it may have been a skill issue, but yeah you can bury anything in mud
A tank gets stuck too. So.
Once you slow down in mud your done.
Those bronco's are Weak AF!!! Suspension is Garbage too!!
Well you found the limits of the all terrain tires for sure. An aggressive set of M/Ts would make a difference
Why did he keep stopping? He had the momentum to get through the mud.
I like these videos when it's just Andre hosting (or Tommy). Keep up the great job.
When you showed in the wheel well the suspension, I noticed a wire with a connector that was exposed,, not sure what it was for. Just wondering if that could be a problem. Was he aired down? (Didn’t look it.)
Wrong tire for the mud for sure. Pulled my neighbor out who ran KO2s a few times.
FORD BRONCO RAPTOR🔥💪😁
Very brave guy! I ll be afraid of getting hit with a supermarket cart in a parking lot with so brand new and beautiful vehicle 😂
I laugh everytime someone shows up in all terrain tires and then tries rock crawling the mud holes haha.
Enough Mud will stop just about anything. My Bronco raptor jumps at the dunes and does some crawling but it stops right before it touches a tiny mud puddle.
Having the turn assist on probably hurt him at cottonwood creeek

I didn't hear that he didn't air down until the end. Rookie.
Andre is the man !
Well the lights are cool
That guy will never get all the mud washed away from that bronco lol.
Need a little more momentum for sure and 2 other things: better recovery vehicle and a yankom/MOOR kinetic energy rope !
I want the front seats for my explorer st
Nice Rig!
Love this course i wish i can try my tacoma here. I like the content
Forgive me guy's but i found it hilarious how right after andre said portly little thing it changes to nathan 😂
If everyone wouldn't stop in the middle of the mud whole they would all get stuck just go with the momentum
Guy needs to grow a pair!!
"tires Cole, is what wins races"
Super nice Bronco, but in mud it needs better tires.
BF Goodrich are only good on the road & maybe sand. If he had some super swampers on his Bronco it would've made it through the whole course.
Andre is a monster on that Polaris!
Honda Pioneer. Polaris would have fallen apart after the first tug. LoL.
That little bronco needs to hit the car wash Asap..🥹
Those BFG KO2's are great on sand and rock, but are one of the worst A/T tires I have ever had in mud and snow for the money. Not nearly enough cleanout on the tread pattern.
Ford needs to make the oj Simpson Edition pursuit bronco and keep it like the vintage 90s bronco
Great comment 👍
It needs some SuperSwampers.
😂
Maybe just some SSRs or Trxus MTs would do.
Nah, it just needed momentum. You can't tiptoe through thick mud.
need a good set of mud tires
That mud would be hard for any vehicle. I do think if he sent it a little harder he might have made it. Great vehicle though!
mud terrain tyres + higher speed and he would have made it
For sure. You can't crawl through mud like that, lol. He needed to gun it, and he would have made it.
He definitely found the limit of the driver not the Bronco
you guys need to do an update on the Toyota Tundra please! Off Road Test!!
That is a capable vehicle.
Hahaha, that guy was way to overly confident with his fancy buttons and didn’t use enough momentum so Mother Earth beat the rookie off-roader lol. Rookies gotta learn the hard way
Airing down, keeping speed up in the mud would be greatly beneficial
And yeah as others have mentioned a heavier and more powerful rig for recovery would be prudent. Especially when ppl are suctioned in to mud, a winch makes things much smoother and safer
Is this same guy who popped both defender tires?
please test a niva or a jimny
Why you dont use a proper recovery vehicle?
This, better than a Wrangler? Please don't joke
Tyres Tyres Tyres. If that bronco will have mud Tyres will go thru. AT are not good on mud but they are amazing on snow
I like ford bronco raptors
When you have an owner unskilled driver that is what you get. He was likely worried about breaking the 1/2 shafts or tierods.
It looks like you guys had know momentum and didn't air down the tires.. Full psi will cause problems in heavy mud.. Makes it want to dig, not climb out.. Same as sand..
OK, now the big question, do I need to refinance my house ? It’s damn nice but jeez that’s some serious cheddar
Time to bring the Jeep 392 to save the day with a winch factory installed.
Mud pit is a test of tire traction and has very little to do with the vehicle. Only way through it would be aired down substantially or use speed.
I have never understood the need of so many "off roaders" to slowly creep into a mudhole and then stop.
Oh no, we got stuck....
No sh*t Sherlock.
Stop using 4lo for mud. Theres barely any wheel speed in 4lo which isnt what you want.
Thats not safe to use kinetic rope this way, and especially film that from the angles of potential shot if shackle will fail. Especally because its fragile U shackle not C like. Use synthetic shacle next time.
Is it because it is so wide and heavy to pup back, or because he should have “Nathan’d” it moving forward?
Gotta have momentum lol, nothing moving that slow will make it through lol
