Great review. I didn’t think this was a good idea to brand another vehicle with the Raptor label but after seeing this beast in several reviews from desert running and trail running, this thing is legit. Bravo to Ford for making this beast but I do wish it had an optional 5.0. Oh well, nothing is perfect but this is as close as it gets in my book! Keep it up TK!
@@rdubs1705 it’s not about HP, it’s about reliability. Turbo charged engines have more components that can go wrong. Simple is better in most cases. Although Ford is great at building a small turbocharged engine, it would make sense to offer a naturally aspirated engine to the lineup.
@@T4nkcommander the engine might be but the extra components and parts that are add ones to make the power aren’t. I had an ecoboost and the only problems I had was the extras. Engine was great and loved the truck but what is wrong with wanting to have the option? I don’t get why this is a thing to want to have a basic option? This isn’t the 60’s either but guess what they offer? Steel wheels and the bronco itself that looks real similar to the old school original. Lol offering a NA isn’t a bad thing.
The wider wheel track and taller 37’s will in fact crush some brush before it gets to the doors and sides which as I said earlier are the same on the Raptor as ALL other Bronco models from the base on up.
To be honest, I really like the Everglades trim. You get a bunch of useful off-road goodies including a factory installed winch, snorkel and a roof rack. Sure it's got the 2.3L, but the power is respectable and I have no intentions of drag racing a Bronco. Plus both the V6 options sound horrible! My main issue with the Raptor is just how wide it is. I have no desire to go 60mph off-road so the width is a huge waste for me. It's an amazing vehicle, but I'd rather take the extra money and put it into turning an Everglades into an overlander.
Was a pleasure to meet you guys and guide you thru those trails! Amazing review, good real life information and real canadian life scenario. Great work guys 🔥🔥
I’m currently driving a 2021 gen 3 f150 37 package Raptor. I have put 20,000 km on it so far. I often consider selling it because of the crazy prices people offer me. Every time I’m about to get in it I get a sense of excitement and that’s what justifies the price
I drove my dad's 89 Bronco II in high school, and special-ordered my 2017 Gen 2 Raptor back in 2016 (obviously still driving it). My wife enjoyed her 2016 JKUR while she had it, but it was not conducive to our family needs (and was kinda crap tbh). All that to say, eventually I suspect we'll pick this thing up for her down the road - provided we can get one without the driver-facing spy camera, that is.
I think the rest of the changes in the suspension and steering are pretty massive. To forgo possible problems I have already upgraded my tie-rods to aftermarket. I have also done upgrades to my steering box. Those are two massive weak points on the normal broncos and I have yet to hear from anyone that has installed the "heavy duty" steering box from Ford. The Raptor has all that and more stock. I think to take a Badlands and upgrade everything you can to Raptor level would take quite a chunk of change.
I love it that you guys do trails like that up there. I'm in SW Missouri, and that's the kind of trails we have. No deserts lol. The Raptor is badass, but I'd personally go with the Badlands. I love your guys' videos.
2 inches of tire equates to 1 inch lift on everything, including the pumpkin, just by the increase in tire size. 1 extra inch of axel clearance is nice.
FYI. The ten extra inches of width is NOT the body of the truck. It is the tires, wheels and fender flares. The body on the Badlands and the Raptor are exactly the same width. So the extra scraping is NOT the painted surfaces. Still, it is worth getting PPF if you want to avoid the "pinstripes" that off road vehicles normally get.
Just curious about where in NB those trails were. Being from NB I wasn't surprised the Raptor was a tight fit. For those of you that can afford it, that Bronco Raptor is an amazing vehicle. I wonder how its ride felt at higher speed on dirt roads compared to the Badlands?
I’m no genius but if this track is Fords then I imagine it was set up to allow the regular Bronco to just get over obstacles with maybe a little scrape. So with extra clearance gained on the Raptor you’d never touch a thing.
I find myself sighing at the fact that I would have to agree, that $100,000 for a vehicle of that capability now seems the price of admission. I don't think it's right, but the world is ever changing.
So is the actual body of the Raptor that much wider, I know the axles/tires and flares are what really push it out. Did the raptor come out with any paint issues or major pin striping? I can see the axles and tires coming into play on tight trails that just don't fit but don't think the body much different than regular bronco
All Bronco models(2 or 4 door) from the base model to the Raptor are exactly the same width at the doors. The Raptor does have slightly wider painted composite (vs steel on other models) fenders but that difference is about an inch on each side. The width of the wheels/tires is where the huge additional width comes from and the flares that Ford was required by law to add to cover. So all the talk of how much wider the Raptor is over the Badlands or Outerbanks or even base model making it susceptible to “door pin-striping” is just nonsense. In fact, when you factor in the brush trampling benefit of the wide tall tires with the brush defecting action of the rocker step rails, my money says the Raptor gets less paint scratches than Badlands or even a Wrangler for that matter. The parts exposed on the Braptor are the fender flares and they are black composite. Material made to handle that sort of abuse.
The doors aren’t any wider than regular or Wildtrack/Sasquatch Broncos. So the comment “pin-striping” of paint is uncalled for. composite fender flairs is where the width is.
I really like the Bronco. Another big thing it has over the Wrangler that nobody really talks about is rear seat airbags. The Wrangler scores very poor on crash safety and I would never want my kids back there.
Most people don't buy these for their off road ability.....most rarely see dirt. It's about "look what I have" I could care less about other people.....it's their money. You can literally say this about everything.....not what you need,it's about what you want. If you want it....and can afford it why not.
Perfectly said. Just like sports cars/super cars…..very few ppl actually use them to their ability or take them to track days. But I still understand the desire of wanting to own them.
its nice, but that price... Most that get bought will be pavement princesses, rather defeating the purpose. Surprised they took the Explorer ST motor versus a 3.5EB, or my preference, a 5.0L.
maybe they saving 3.5 for next gen, easy upgrade. V8 would be 150k and very unlikely to ever happen if offers zero significant advantages off or on road other than sound. None
It would appear that Ford is only sending out Raptors to places that will review them. Hopefully, in 2023, those who have placed an order will not have to wait until the last quarter or into 2024. Seeing the reviews and actually driving your own are two different things. Reviews give you hype, however Ford will give you reality.
Check yourself but Scotty Kilmer says engines are failing below 10 000 kilometres. I heard him say one failed with 1 000 kms on it. Doesn't surprise me. The failure is cracked valves or valve stems. Wait a few years before buying a Raptor...like maybe a decade.
I don't think it is worth the premium given how slow it is. If it put up similar numbers as the 392 Jeep, I could justify the premium over the Badlands. I also think the Badlands actually looks better. The Raptor is kind of cartoonish looking. Each to their own....
Wow. What a revelation. Although I think new cars have something that would ease those concerns, especially with something as cool and pricey as this thing is. What’s it called?! ……oh yeah! A warranty!!
Ever heard of a warranty? Also, 47 instances of a dropped valve on an engine sold in literal millions of vehicles isn’t the slightest bit troubling. It was one bad batch of valves on an otherwise solid and reliable engine.

Lol
The TTV6 in my Gen 2 Raptor outperforms my buddies supercharged Gen 1 V8 in every metric except sound.
100K $ fuk that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a ford. Depreciation will take it to 60 after 2 years
Oh really?! By your logic, I should be able to find a used f150 raptor for really cheap! Your clueless guy.
@@KN-jw7ts maybe, yet i have lots of savings
Dude how wrong could you be? Its a true collector just like the GT350R
100G for this? No, especially knowing of ford's reputation for breaking down lol
I've owned over 8 modern Ford Mustangs, Fusions and Explorers and every single one was in the shop with significant tranny or other issues. At least Jeep has great leather bound trim. Ford has terrible plastic everywhere.
Complaining about how wide the raptor is getting old on every channel. the people who buy these DONT CARE.
Until they get asked where they got all their custom pin striping from 🤣
All fluff.
Huh?! Just say u can’t afford it
@@KN-jw7ts The video asked my opinion and I gave it Just because you don’t agree with it, you want to imply that I can’t afford it? You know nothing about me bro. I’m a fan of the Bronco and if I didn’t already own the most capable off road vehicle in the world, I’d be making payments on one. I just don’t think the Bronco Raptor offers enough over the standard Bronco to justify the premium price.
The Jeep Wrangler 392 has already been proven way better than the Ford Bronco Raptor. Until Ford puts a v8 in it I would stay clear from it.
You know I think i agree. Ford is just terrible at times for bad quality
@frednass no they haven't lol. Every review I've seen when these 2 match-up is the Bronco Raptor wins in comfort and ride. Speed, torque, horsepower and anything off road the Wrangler 392 was superior.
Name one? Bc i really don’t know what your talking about. BUT I’ll go right ahead, starting w these guys! Lol. But you should start w the recent hagerty video. MOTORTREND, car&driver, the smoking tire, Ben hardy (he actually owns a 392) and says the raptor is the best off roader he has ever driven! Lol. Doug demero ALL chose this over the 392. Who am I missing?
Horsepower and torque is where u can stop. PLEASE cite ONE article or video that actually says the 392 is better off road?! Like are u just making stuff up? Or u really don’t read or watch anything that others do.
And lastly, you say speed?? Where? On road?! Bc you know….these things are “offroaders”. And speed wise, the raptor would SMOKE the 392 OFF-ROAD. And if u don’t know that, you really don’t understand these vehicles.
