It was a joint venture between the two companies. Ford and Gm has this transmission in many, many different vehicles.

    While I have seen some people complaining about all the off road tech being added taking the fun out of off-roading, they don't consider the fact that you don't HAVE to use it all. That and as far as I'm concerned, it it making off-roading way more accessable to folks that otherwise wouldn't have done it and will feed more money into the off road companies that make the accessories for the "hard core off-roaders".

    Being a large, heavy, IFS vehicle, how did they manage to get such low payload numbers? Effectively, with no towing, you can get four people and their backpacks in there and that's it. If you tow the max, you can put 2.5 people in there with no additional cargo. So it seems that you could maybe road trip 2 people and their cargo in this version. It also makes it virtually impossible to use as an 'overlanding' vehicle, with rear kitchen/draw setups and rooftop tent/rack/awning, secondary power and all the rest. I've no skin in the game as these will likely never make it to OZ, but very curious how this happens?

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 3 года назад

      I think it’s precisely because they are large, heavy and have an IFS that their payloads are so low (along with primary focus for off-roading). Very similar to the figures for Wrangler Rubicon Unlimiteds, Ford Raptors or even something like a solid axle Ram Power Wagon.

    Bestop needs to make a sunrider top for it like they do for the hard top Jeeps. Oh, and good luck getting a four door let alone a two door. We'll have to see if the Canadian dealers that manage to get Broncos, mark them up like their US counterparts are.

    I love my 2019 JLUR. But damn, you cannot complain much about this Bronco. The on-road driving seems to be the edge over, as they are right, you always have to have that extra degree of caution every time you hit the highway with a wrangler. But that COST omg. My JLUR start was 65k. I bought a heavily modded dealership project with lift, improved suspension, larger tires and more, and it cost me 77k. That cost for the loaded Badlands Sasquatch package kills it ouch.
    The Rubis can always handle more off road. But 99% of owners will never take them that far (I do), and the Bronco, aside from the wheel lifts, will do all of that. Some other content creators have already done the Rubicon Trail with the Badlands version they modded to have 37s.
    Still, competition is good. And with this Ford, it looks GREAT actually.

    great review content as always with you two. chevy really missed an opportunity with the blazer, could've had an awesome battle between bronco/jeep/blazer but it looks like GM doesn't want to commit to a raptor or bronco competitor, most off road thing they got is the bison.

    • @danc1197
      @danc1197 2 года назад

      The original Blazer was a full size truck more for road use, the original Bronco was a compact off road vehicle. So both are following their roots. Blazer was eventually re named Tahoe, and the S10 Blazer was the compact suv. They eventually dropped the S10 name and simply called it the Blazer. Bronco went full size in the late 70's and Bronco 2 became the compact version soon to be replaced by the Explorer and 2 door Explorer sport.

    Regardless, I'll "Keep Calm and Carry On" anyway... ;-)
    Seriously though, I needed more towing-capacity so neither the Wrangler or Bronco would do...it had to be a mid-size TRUCK instead (but, a serious 4x4/off-road capable truck, not garden-variety trucks like the Ranger, Canyon, Colorado (non-ZR2), etc).
