    Awesome build.
    What I liked about it, was that it was so stable and seemed so easy to fly. Almost crash proof.
    Hard left. Hard right. Hard up. All worked with great reliability.
    Very impressive.
    The only negative is the sheer size of the beast. Its got a massive wingspan, which makes it difficult to transport.
    As a commercial drone though, this configuration could work.

    This video and ur build made me huge into this hobby, I've built one just like it's but with t-motor anti gravity 380kv motors but moded the frame as u did. I've noticed "when I used to fly it" plastic pieces cracked and seemed to solved it using nylon washes everywhere. I've been in the mini quads sense and I look at this amazing machine sitting on top of my center speaker, and wonder if u still own and fly yours, I really want to upgrade mine. I found iron man frame vs sport frame created to much vibrations. Is this setup one that u still enjoy flying or has something gone wrong?

    I saw your FC is the same as i have Naza m lite updated to 4.02. Did you tape the FC with black tape? Did you have any control issue in gps or atti mode,like losing altitude when fly fwd, or in a roll? Did you got any uncontrolable flip?

    Hi Robbie i know this is an old video but i am hoping you see this comment...I have a Tarot 650 built with the Hobbywing Xrotor 40a esc and i can not get them to calibrate??all i get is a slow beep beep beep continuously???Now the funny thing is i can calibrate them using a servo tester but once i connect to my receiver channel 3 just the single beep sequence ???? And ideas and hoping you see this as you seem to be impressed with these esc....

    What flight controller did you use with this? I was using a Vector and it ran fine. Switched to a Naze32 and wicked oscillations and crashed.
    PID values were default,
    Roll: P = 4, I = .030, D= 23
    Pitch: P = 4, I = .030, D = 23
    Yaw: P = 8.5, I = .045, D = 0
    Angle/Horizon mode: Angle strength = 9, Horizon strength = .010
    FYI - I took off and had this happen in Angle Mode.

    Hello. it seems a very nice setup. Have you stretched landing gear too? or only the arms? 16mm is enought to handle increased arms lenght and new thrust? I mean tarot 810 is 25mm.. Thanks! :)

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  8 лет назад +1

      +uckard Hi, no the landing gear is stock. So far the arms are working perfectly, they are only stretched an extra 10 cm each and are plenty strong enough, I am now flying with a 6S, 10,000 mah battery and I can see a "bow" in the props from the extra weight but the arms are rigid.

      +Trainboy64 use 6 S 5,000mah batts to save weight, works great on mine w/ tarot 15 inch folding props. 15 min fly time take-off weight 7.5LBS. Cameras and gimbal plus 3 S power supply.

    I have issues on my similar 650 Sport you mention in the video with landing gear not function properly. What is the cause of this issue and what modification did you do to resolve it?

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  9 лет назад

      Hans Petter Wold Hi Hans, yes unfortunately this is a fairly common problem with these retracts. Many people have experienced the same problem - the solution is to limit how far they extend downwards and upwards. I had to adjust the servo arm position on the leg so that when the legs are up, the servo is not fully retracted (you will need tape on the arm under the bracket to stop it from slipping) and additionally I used a small shim to prevent the gear from moving all the way down - just by a few degrees - doing this stops the servo from fully extending or retracting and will give you reliable operation.

    I have built a tarot ironman 650 with 17" props too but I am not able to land it without crashes. Once I move the throttle stick down just a little the quad just goes descending rapidly to a point that I cannot counter it and subsequently fell to the ground. Can you share your PIDs?

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  8 лет назад

      +highcountryhay Thanks, yes this one is still flying on the Multistar battery, it works fine but I have noticed about 20% less endurance - that is after 100+ flights so I can't really complain - I didn't treat the battery very well during testing and ran it down too low many times. I am sure if I took better care it would still be fine.

They are sunny sky X4110S motors 340 Kv - running on Hobbywing X Rotor 40 amp ESCs, the kit is a Tarot 650 Sport but I stretched the arms using longer tubes - the size is now 840 mm - I have a Naza lite flight controller upgraded to V2 firmware - The Battery is a Multistar 6S 5200 Mah. Super smooth to fly.

    Watched a few of your videos regarding the 650 sport which I am thinking about getting. Where can I get the 340kv Sunnyskys? Cant seem to find them in the uk. Also the 840mm extended arms, where did you get those geezerS? - Thanks for making your vids

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  9 лет назад +1

      HyCy85 Hi, I got my motors from Himodel.com and also the 500 mm arms. I cut the arms down to 330 mm for this build - the stock arms are 230 mm in the kit. Take care cutting the CF if you do as the dust is very dangerous (I cut mine in a bathtub underwater wearing gloves. )

    • @SkyeEyeSightings
      @SkyeEyeSightings 9 лет назад

      ***** Thanks for the speedy reply, cant get those motors in the UK it seems so I was looking at the Quanum 4114 340kv motors, similar weight, more poles, more power output. The 5200mah battery only has 10c constant / 20c burst. Isnt that not enough output for the esc / motors? My dad is telling me that might blow the battery? Would you recommend getting a bit more of a durable output battery? All I am wanting is a 15min + flight time with gimbal + YI so not looking to pin the throttle too often anyway, just curious.

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  9 лет назад

      HyCy85 A 10C battery with 5200 Mah capacity can provide 52 amps. That should be plenty for your intended use. If you fly for 15 minutes then you are discharging the battery at only 4C. (1 C would be 60 minutes) I use a rule of thumb, if my flight time is over 20 mins, 10 C is fine - 15-20 mins I use 20C battery, 10-15 mins I use 30C batteries. 5-10 mins 35-40C, Under 5 mins 60C batteries (e.g. my Armattan V Tail)
      The 10 C will be fine with those motors. If you want to be ultra safe then go with 20C but higher than that is not needed on a large long endurance machine, you are adding extra weight and getting no benefit from it using higher C batteries. Hope that helps.

    • @SkyeEyeSightings
      @SkyeEyeSightings 9 лет назад

      Really helpful, appreciate you taking the time to reply I have a lot to learn so thank you for this. I was looking at the max output of the motors and thinking, 21 amp max output x 4 which would be pushing it up over 80 amps. Researched batteries a good bit and C rating so knew about the 52 amps for that battery :)
      One last question I promise haha, with the extended arms I take it its not possible to film with a gopro / Yi with out getting the props in? or Can you extend the jib?

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  9 лет назад +1

      HyCy85 Yes you can get extended arms for the camera. I haven't done this yet but my build was actually inspired by this video

    Is the multistar battery still holding the full 5200mah? Ive seen some reviews which say that it cant hold its capacity for many cycles. Do you recommend this battery over the Zippy?

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  9 лет назад

      ShreeNanners Hi, I only have about 25 cycles on this battery and it seems good. I am very careful not to discharge it below 20% capacity. I haven't tried a Zippy on this machine but have two 6S Zippy batteries on larger helicopters and they have been excellent for many years. The Advantage of the Multistar is lightness due to the low C rating (10C) but that is plenty for this quad as it flies for over 25 minutes therefore the drain on the battery averages less than 3C.

    I'm in the process of building the same quadcopter and still scratching my head on what flight controller to use, I've seen so many video on here of tarot 650's but with all different flight controllers and some hold better than the others, the ones I've always heard of is the DJI naza, but there some that people mention like Pixhawk and tarot's own flight controller. With the naza lite why do people update the filmware to the V2 spec rather than buying the naza V2 flight board?. I've decided on the taranis radio as ever one swears by it rather than spektrum it's just the flight controller I've having trouble deciding on. Any help and info would be much appreciated.

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  9 лет назад

      +daveyboy293 Hi, I am pretty happy with my Naza Lites (updated to V2 firmware). The main benefit from this update is that it gives you a better GPS position hold immediately after first take off. With original firmware the Naza Lite is notorious for severe drifting for several minutes in GPS mode. Mine used to drift more than 10 meters. With the V2 firmware drift is less than 2 meters. Also it flies much nicer in manual mode in my opinion. The Lite firmware felt weird and unstable at fast forward speed. The V2 is solid. It takes a bit of tuning to get the Naza to hold position perfectly - mainly this involves rotating the puck to compensate for your local magnetic variation but once sorted the accuracy is impressive. Good choice with the Taranis. Its now my favourite radio and offers far more than Spektrum, Futaba or JR for the price.

    So I am building the same set up.. Sunny sky said the recommended prop size was between 12"-15". Do you esc's/motors get warm? I was looking into some 5212-340v... Does that sound right? I want to be able to put my sony a6000 on it one day. Thanks!

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  8 лет назад

      +Harncore450 Hi, no my motors stay cool with the 17 inch props - mine are the 340 KV version of the 4110. The higher KV versions are limited to smaller props but these work great. The 5212 size would be more powerful again and would easily drive the 17 inch props.

    • @harncore4504
      @harncore4504 8 лет назад

      +Trainboy64 ok great thanks! I ended up with the turnigy 4225 390 kv...I'm thinking of returning them to get your exact set up. So the higher the kv the higher the rpm...The first number indicates the size of the motor (i.e. 4225)? Thanks again for your help!

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  8 лет назад

      Harncore450 Yes that is right - in a 4225 the motor is 42 mm diameter and the bell is 25 mm tall - the KV is the RPM - the higher the KV the higher the rpm - depends on voltage also, with Low KV motors you can go to higher cell batteries - i.e. 6S and this gives great efficiency.

    • @harncore4504
      @harncore4504 8 лет назад

      +Trainboy64 ok sorry to keep asking questions... so the set up I have (4225 390kv) will that be enough? or should I look for a lower KV motor? thanks again!

    • @Trainboy64
      @Trainboy64  8 лет назад

      Harncore450 Edit - I just looked at the specs, not sure why they only specify 12 inch props for the turnigy motors - that size should run larger props easily. Reading more in the reviews it seems they are good with 17 inch props so I think they will be fine.

      +Trainboy64 Thanks! your description listed as 17 x 5.5 props is that the one you are recommending instead of the 17 x 5

      +Terry Dubay HI Terry, Sorry it was a typo in the description. I double checked my order and the props I have are definitely the ones I linked to above. They are 17 x 5 and I have corrected my listing. Sorry for the confusion and well spotted.

      +Trainboy64 Cool thanks, How do you like the battery? Are you getting better flight times. My goal is about 45 min with a mobius camera and gimbal.

      Terry Dubay This battery is ok but flight times dropped to just over 20 minutes with the Tarot Gimbal and GoPro - yours will be a lot lighter. I think with a 10,000 Mah battery you should get close to the 45 minutes.

    Hi, I have an Tarot 650 myselfe, and i use 12x6 props now. i have been into changing motors and props to reduce some of the noise and to get a bit more power to lift a 8A battery..
    I use 4s battery.
    Do you think i can use the same motors and props as you on my 30 amp esc or do i have to change those to 40 amp?
    My videos from mine 650 can be seen here: goo.gl/ud7vFD

      +Freddy Ulvseth Yes I think you could easily use 30 amp escs. I only chose the 40 amp as they did not have 30 and knew I was placing them under the canopy without cooling so figured 20 might be too low. My 40s stay cool even without air flow. 30s would be fine.
