  • Tarot 650 Sport build step-by-step instructions for a DIY Quadcopter. This build showcases 15" carbon fiber propellers with 380 KV motors. It is designed to be a video rig. The larger props and slower spinning motors offer longer battery life (more than 25min) and a smooth flying platform.
Unfortunately the video doesn't get caught up in the details, like how to solder. But hopefully it offers a good general idea of how this build should go together. See the parts list below if you want to build your own.
The nice thing about this build is how upgradable it is. It can take a higher payload, so when the next new camera comes out, you'll be ready to rock. You can buy longer arms for a Tarot 650 sport, include higher strength motors, and fit larger model cameras. That is why we chose the Tarot 650 Sport - it is highly upgradeable.
The new SteadyGo 3 axis gimbal is awesome, especially shooting 4k on a GoPro Hero 4 Black.
A couple recommendations before starting your own DIY quadcopter.
    - Watch the whole video before starting your build. You may realize you're missing something or catch a would-be mistake.
    - Use heat shrink wrap on all your connections. We put this video together just for the sake of this video and we wanted to take it apart afterwards.
    - You can save yourself a lot of time by paying attention to how each motor is plugged in, and whether it is spinning in the right direction, and has the correct orientated propellers.
    - In the video is a NAZA M- LITE, but we flashed it to V2 and highly recommend doing it to save money. The only difference between the M-LITE and V2 is software, hardware is all the same. It can save you well over $100. We followed these instructions:
    naza-upgrade.com/
    - Just like any build, we made mistakes and probably didn't do it 100% perfect, but hopefully we can help people out there who are doing their first build.

I just purchased this frame. I had the Max 4 before. Not too bad. Broke one inside arm mount. The Max 4 design, not too good in a crash. I like how the arms on this frame go all the way towards the centre. :D

Hello! Nice video, but i would like to know what battery size and cell count was used to get the 25mins stated in the description. Thanks for the help!!!!

    Hi, Great vid!
    I'm building a similar setup.
Wat are the gains that you use?
    Greets.

At time 2:34, where did those orange things go? They magically disappeared. They re-appear 11:15

Hi, nice video. Do you recommend this frame? I still don't know which motors should I use, but I think I'll go with the ones you used since they seem to be really efficient.

+Flight Evolved Thank you very much! Do you like the motors you used?

+Flight Evolved Thank you very much for your support! I'm going to build this quad in the next few months (I currently own a f450 style quad but I'm not happy with flight times and payload capability). I hope to get at least 16 minutes with 5Ah 6s batteries.

+AccuRC Channel Sorry! All our comments seem to have been deleted. But yes it is a fantastic frame. It's great having retractable landing gear, especially for filming and doing utility work. The motors are great too - slow spinning and high torque, with the bigger props leads to great flight times.

+Flight Evolved I saw your last video and it's amazing! Did you use this quad? Did you manage to fold its arm for transport? (I read that many people had to use an external pdb to make arms fold). Sorry if I bother you but I don't want to waste money. Thanks :)

+AccuRC Channel In our case, we used the Tarot PDB. As you stated, to effectively fold the arms you would want to use an external PDB. Even so, we were moving to so many locations on this shoot that breaking our drone down wasn't an option!! :P

Does the Battery offer enough amperage to safely operate the build, i noticed it is only 10C.

+aapeltekian The increased capacity (10,000mAh) meant that we could go with the smaller 10c and still provide enough capacity to power our quad. It provides better capacity than a similar sized 20c LiPo.

Thanks for the video! I'm curious about extending the wires from the ESC to the battery (vs. extending the wires from the ESC to the motor). The conventional wisdom (e.g., fpvlab.com/forums/showthread.php?33118-Extend-ESC-power-leads-OR-to-extend-the-motor-to-esc-leads-that-is-the-question!) seems to be that it's better to add length on the motor side of the ESC because the increased inductance of the longer wires on the power side can cause operational issues for the ESC. Is this something you worry about for the length of the wires you added on the 650?

It seems like the way you built the quad, it is no longer foldable :)

He made a mistake. He put the receiver on the wrong side of the frame, the arms can not be folded because the receiver is in the way. Better position the receiver (and other electronics) in front or in the back of the frame.

Unless the author of the film has no intention of folding the arms - which is also possible;)
