    The tech is scary.
Being able to network each drone means you could have a basic onboard system, while the computation power is elsewhere, and you can reduce the size of the unit to very small, yet have very many units to perform many tasks at once.
This would mean you could have a group of drones scouting the area for targets, another group defending the main group from being detained and a third group engaging the targets found by the scouts.
Seeing we already arm and engage military targets, being able to shrink the size means we can put more of them into the area and take out a military unit of soldiers, or just target the command personnel while leaving the lower ranks alive to surrender.
    The possibilities are endless...

I had an idea similar to the drive shown earlier in the video, the one with 4 wheels with props inside. My idea was to use a common stator and an inner and outer rotor, one to spin the wheels, one to spin the props. The wheels could still function as ducts, to increase the efficiency of propellers, and the mass of the tire rings could allow the use of gyroscopic prossesion as a means of controlling yaw, and even for maintaining stability in high winds or during fine maneuvering. Obviously, without actually building one, I can only speculate that this design would be successful, but seeing the design of the drone here got me excited about the concept, again.

And drones, unlike fixed wing aircraft, generally don't move in the axial direction of the motors.

    My first thoughts are
    1) search & rescue when combined with machine learning could both help identify survivors in water and other terrain that humans might miss, AND be better able to stay in 1 place while rescuing even if there are strong storm winds and whatnot
    2) the one that goes both through the air and 10 feet deep in the water would be immediately hireable to do underwater boat inspection, that would be a nice side business

    • @vinny142
      @vinny142 Год назад +1

      1) A set of drones would be perfect for quickly searching a large area... if they can reliably detect a floating human... in a storm. I would not want to be saved by a drone which is basically a flying meatgrinder. And absolutely not one driven by AI which might decide that the corpse floating a hundred meters away needs to be saved first.
      2) it would be cool if it could transform into a cleaner and just fly from job to job....but a regular drone carrying a regular sub would be a hundred times better at that.
This is a recurring problem wth drones; they have little to no applications beyond just flying.

All the system with lifting rotor turning to horizontal thrust rotor have a fundamental flaw. In the vtol mode it needs more than 1:1 thrust to weight ratio in more or less 0 speed. And in cruise flight it is like 1/20 thrust to weight with substantial speed.
You can have optimal performance only in one of the modes. Up to the point where carrying a separate motor for horizontal flight actually does improve efficiency.
Especially if you somehow manage to hide the quad motors and props from the airflow in horizontal mode.

The future of the advancements "Drones" are near limitless.
N.A.S.A's space drones are on another level, and there capabilities are wow. As for drones on Earth, there is a major shift in the Military Industrial Complex, as this branch of science has opened up many, many opportunities. The dark science of drone technology is the use of the host in the insect, and animal world. We are talking symbiont relationship, but the host does not have to sign a N.D.A.
The complex issues is the experimentation of this technology using humans. Bear in mind some people will do anything to get famous, but there is always a cost. The Dragon Drone, shows us how a swarm of drones can work collectively to create a monster size creature that is by far intimidating. Swarm drones can be very useful in battling against a swarm of locusts, as they can deliver a lethal dose of chemicals to deplete that troublesome swarm. Fitted with an electrical charge they could form a force field to obliterate the locusts. The options are endless.
Ideally what would be a win win situation is to stun the locust and collect them to be harvested. Which is far more beneficial to us all.

@@alexdoan273 Hi. I don't know. But, I seriously do think there is a space in the market economy for cleaning robots that pick up litter and trash and painting robots to cover graffiti. It may be that they would need to be corralled and protected by human counter parts while they do the cleaning. But there is endless litter and trash and graffiti in my city that needs to be addressed. I volunteer frequently to pickup litter and have cleaned up thousands of pounds myself. If I had a robot buddy it would be more efficient and effective. They always promote these robots to "help in a disaster" . We are in a disaster already. So, that's why I wrote my idea.

Some very cool toys. Payload & endurance are the biggies I think (depending on the role). Very promo-ey, reminds me of SDI demo destroying the missile tube where it became famous for being all-but faked. The formation swarm & obstacle avoidance is impressive - each drone fitted with a one-shot .38 in a relay, working a trenchline would certainly be a morale corrosive. Jetpack medics ran in Brit tv 'news' recently, but that's just silly outside of exceptionally rare circumstances.

A lot of these are made to scam people to invest in their project. Many of these drones have tiny bodies but strong motors and large, costantly moving parts (for example the morphobot at 1:08). As that does not cost energy. Where are the batteries placed in the morphobot? It must be a e-bike battery. This machine will only last for a few minutes.

I will be waiting for your follow up on the drone. I just ordered a DJI 3 Air, so naturally feel bombed with info
and films. I remember seeing the drone that converts to vehicle many years ago. I think their have even been simple toys
that roll up walls and change shapes. Military spy gear if you like.
I expected more all the same. Having seen the flying dragon this New Year was incredible though, yet as you say, design wise
it´s remarkable that their have not been better solutions yet.

on your needs. Like having a base frame and engine for car production.

It'd be funny if the future drones don't kill us but are chasing us with oppressive helpfulness. Go off to do the required chore as fast as possible and then come back for more commands, desperate to be even more helpful next time. When all you want to do is chill out, but they're programmed to be helpful and feel bad when they chill so you feel bad and give them chores just to keep them happy. Like throwing the stick for an overly energetic dog you love but also become annoywed by eventually.

My personal noob idea is to create a sponge-like engine with tiny pores which could work as millions of ion propulsion engines stacked together. So, the air would simply go through a plane/drone.
