    Really nice quad!
    Just curious, what is the weight your quad without the battery and what flight times are you getting?
    I am in process of building a bigger quad myself (6s).

    Are you really able to get 30+ minutes in this exact configuration?

    Claude Rychter Hi Claude, thanks for your nice feedback. I was not able to reply directly on your comment. The mounting of the 16000mAh battery pack is custom build. I do not have a picture available right now, would provide you with a detailed picture later. These are the parts I used:

    Probably a very obvious solution once I actually have the parts in my hands, but I've just ordered the frame and 4x330mm CF tubes to extend to about 750mm and it will probably be a couple weeks before I have them. What is involved in transferring the folding arm hardware to the new tubes...just drilling a hole? Any suggestions on how you did it would be appreciated.

  • @rlaan

    This is one of the nicest Tarot quad's I've seen so far! What is the maximum flight time? And what are those parts next to the legs of the quad for, are these to help collapse the legs for transport?

    • @seiern73
      @seiern73 9 лет назад +2

      Ruben van der Laan Hi Ruben, thanks for your nice feedback.
      Mixed flight time is around 30 min before fail safe interacts; I have set battery failsafe at 21,2v / 3200mAh (battery monitor is not perfectly calibrated in mission planner). After flight the battery charger states between 13 - 18% battery left (PowerLab 8 (v2) Workstation). I am using the standard electric retractable landing gear for the T650 sport. On this particular flight, I experience the well-known issues with the electric landing gear, only one arm retracts. This is not a controller issue, but due to poor design in the electric retractable landing gear. Problem solved by adjusting the servo arm position on the legs.

      seiern Seems like a part of your comment dropped off due to the YT comment bug. I have got most parts of a Quad similar to this one at home except for the extenders, motors and props. But this looks like a nice project for this summer! I'll keep you posted!

    • @seiern73
      @seiern73 9 лет назад +1

      Ruben van der Laan I assume you have verified that there is enough space for 17" props? Using T650 Sport you would need to extend your arms. The Tarot arms I used to extend the arms flex a lot during flight. I decided to upgrade the extended arms with carbon fiber tube 3k, adds around 100gram extra weight. (www.aliexpress.com/item/3-pcs-16MM-OD-x-12MM-ID-Carbon-Fiber-Tube-3k-500MM-Long-with-100-full/2042281643.html ). I have also encounter problems with the plastic motor mounts (TL68B25 / TL68B26), they go out of position, seems like the screws goes into the plastic, or the brass nuts loosens. I suggest that you glue them, or at least use some scotch tape. I have glued mine, seems to solve the problem.

    Hi Mikael Overby, to stretch your tarot you use 275mm carbon fiber tube?, I need to know what is the best dimension, I hesitate between 275mm, 323mm and 333mm.
    I'm planning to put 17'' and probably 18'' propeller.
    I have 5010 360kv motor.
    My principal utility with this drone is photography, I need stability.
    TL68P04 275mm
    TL68B09-02 323mm
    TL68B09-01 333mm
    Thank you in advance.

      @@dronepilot1333 hmm good question, not sure.. personally I would recommend a second camera. You should have double setup of most of all, in backup for any accidents. So if one GPS stop working you still have another one ;)

    Sounds like mine 659 ironman, but instead of extending the arms i built its big brother the tarot x4. 6115-320kv 60-90amp esc w/ 24 inch props. you want more but need a bigger frame dude.

    • @seiern73
      @seiern73 8 лет назад

      +Tim Wiley Hi Tim, bigger frame adds more weight. X4 weighs 1.6kg, compared to 650S which weighs 750g (not modified) From my calculation using 6115-320KV and 24" props you risk overheating your motors.
      - whats your flight time with the Tarot X4?
      - battery type?
      - prop pitch?
      - total weight?
      - with or without gimbal and cam?

    • @bushpilot4234
      @bushpilot4234 8 лет назад

      +seiern Tarot techs recomend 22inch to 26 inch props. Flight time is 32-35 minutes w/ two 6S 16,000 mah batteries. Props are 2455 or 5.5 pitch. It can carry two 6S 22,000 mah batteries and the motors can handle 8S power. Iuse a red epic cam 7.5 lbs. w/ a 3.5 lb photoship one gimbal. Same gimbal for the full scale jet Bell Ranger. I also launch from over 8,000ft. W/ small cam can reach over 12,000 ft above sea level. Iam interested in your formula for calculations. Thanks

      +seiern My 650 is using tiger 4014-400kv 6S 5000 mah w/ 15 innch folding props. Its motors will run 8S power also. using tiger opto esc 35A to 45A and castle 10Amp Bec. Perfect pwr to weight.
