Ladies you have "spunk!" (That's a great thing!) We feel so much a part of your adventurous lives because you have allowed us to follow. Thank you for sharing with this 79 year old worn out retired American school teacher. You truly " make my day!" God bless you today and always! See you next week too!
Porter is a super hero. He has such a great attitude. I know the girls pay him, but he always goes above and beyond. I’m so glad the four girls are all okay. Actually, they’re not only okay, they’re thriving, and have a renewed appreciation and sense of purpose for their journey. This was a beautiful video. Definitely one of my favorites!
@@JGW845 I know very well that these are women in all of the very best definitions of that word. I’m referring to the four of them. They refer to Bella and Izzy as “the girls”. I’ve heard them and their friends refer to the whole family as “the girls”. So I refer to the family of four as “the girls” as an all inclusive term of endearment, not in any way disrespecting their power, their savvy, or their unmatched capabilities. You don’t call female dogs women. I guess I could refer to the group as the ladies, but that’s not the terminology that they and their loved ones seem to use to refer to their little four member nuclear family. I do appreciate the respect you were showing Crystal and Jazzy by making that point though. 😉👏
@@smellyolegoat150 That's why I started out with "respectfully." I get that you mean it as an affectionate term. If I was to include the dogs too I would probably use the term "ladies" as they are such a class act.
In May 1953 my family arrived in southern Ontario! October 1954 Hurricane Hazel hit Toronto as an extratropical Category 1 storm! I was just shy of turning 7! I have memories of looking out at the parking lot next to our home! Since then I have many more memories of living through extreme weather! It is truly amazing to be able to look back in the immediate present afterwards. I've said it before! If you aren't a Canadian when you arrive, one year of Canadian extreme weather will make you one! It's what connects and brings us all together! Congratulations for surviving your first major storm! Peace

Coming from Louisiana I have seen and been in enough hurricanes to know they are not predictable. So glad you didn't have any major damage. Wind and water are the worst to recover from. Glad you are safe.
You two did an awesome job preparing. Porter is an incredible worker and friend. I grew up in South Louisiana, I understand that eerie feeling outside before a big storm. I'm glad your property didn't see too much damage and all of the structures were intact. What an awful year for storms.
This video is like an award-winning documentary - warm, inspiring, deep. I love Porter coming through every time, and your kind neighbors. Peace and thank you. Really enjoyed this one.
REALLY glad you came thru so well! Porter definitely deserved an MVP award. My son's family is living without power, working bathroom, running water etc outside Ft. Myers, Florida right now, thanks to hurricane Ian. Gotta respect the power of nature. Prayers for Canada!
My vietnam buddy went from ft myers to a friend's home in cape coral- they have a whole home generator. The eye of the hurricane went right over them with no outage. The next day my friend went home to just some roof missing but had power. He just got some blue tarp up a few weeks ago and as of Dec 1 no roof repair. This videonis fantastic and scarey. I'm just at the rain starting.

I was really worried about you two and Tyler and Todd. I'm so glad you were able to weather the storm (no pun intended) relatively unscathed. The damage is some of the areas is absolutely devastating and heartbreaking to see. Glad you're both (plus the furry kids) are okay.
We lived for 20+ years in Florida so we know how scary and destructive hurricanes can be. Fiona was a bad one so very happy you were not negatively impacted. Count your blessings. Now we have terrible devastation to the southwest of Florida. Although we no longer live in Florida we have many friends and family so we are heartbroken for them. Love your videos.😍
Nice to see you all held up friends! Your construction skills have paid off. Everything looks secure. Glad to see you guys are safe and not too much damage
Those trees can be a blessing or a curse. They proved to be your good luck. So many people got wiped out, especially in Florida with H'Ian. Makes me feel really fortunate to be living in Montana.
So glad you were safe after the hurricane Fiona. I am from Puerto Rico and no stranger to hurricane. Here there are still people without water or electricity after more than a week since the hurricane hit as only a category one hurricane.
LETS GET AS MANY LIKES ON THIS AS WE CAN- OR COMMENTS TO SHOW PORTER HE'S THE MVP 🥳 This one's for Porter- if your reading these comments thanks for being a true east coastener and going about and beyond to help these ladies. You truly are the MVP. Wish there was more of a way we could all say thanks but likes and comments are all we got 🙂
What a relief! Glad you all did so well. And super glad that tree didn't hit the greenhouse! What a great reminder that winter is coming and the inside of the cabin is your life in winter! Ty for taking us on your journey :)
I'm so glad that you ladies did so well and only your firewood got soaked, which can be replaced. It's great that your shed arrived in time to store all your louse items in it. I hope Tyler and Tod were fortunate, as well.
We just made it through hurricane Ian here on the east coast of Central Florida!! So glad you girls made it through and had everything in order, as well as amazing friends like Porter to help you! I wouldn't have made it without my incredible neighbors, and of course my Jackery to get me through 48 hours without power! We got this girls! Prayers to you always! That hurricane was super hairy and could have changed your lives in a terrible way. Thank goodness you guys and the dogs are okay. Great job preparing, and big shout outs to Porter. What a super hero. Seriously, you should get that guy a cape and a costume. He deservers so much more credit, Also shout out to the local community for looking out for one another. Your surrounded by good people, and it's inspiring to us all.
Only half way through video, but I am so proud of you ladies. No panic and no rushing around doing nothing. I have a friend sho lives in Florida and with Fiona and Ian hitting, she just froze in place. She had to be picked up and carried out to another of her friends' truck and evacuate. Again, as part of those who care for you two, pus the dogs, I want to say how impressed I am.
We all need a friend like Porter 🫶 What a good guy. Glad you are okay. Must've been pretty frightening in a little wooden house in the middle of nowhere. Always lovely to see communities come together in times of need & look out for each other. A nice reminder of the good in this crazy world.
So happy y’all made it ok. Living in Texas my whole life on the coast has taught me to never take water for granted, it can kill and destroy any and everything, but it can be beautiful too. I live in the desert of west Texas now and miss the rain dearly and wish a storm would come through the other side of the states so we could get some rain from it, but that rarely happens. Stay safe and enjoy your green landscape.
You are living so smart. You really reaped the rewards of paying attention to the warnings and making preparations. Even your choice of property paid off. Good on ya mates!
Whew!! I am glad you four fared so well through the storm. As you were covering your woodpile I thought, those ladies have no ideaaaah. I was hoping you would wrap rope around the tarps but in the end, things didn't turn out as badly as I had feared and your wood at least basically stayed stacked. Most of your property seemed to do pretty well. Now you know if you should ever need to prepare, where you did well and where you will modify next time. I was surprised not to see shutters on your windows and everything else that was glass because here in the States when hurricanes are coming, shuttering up is a first line defense measure along with sandbags. Your windows seemed to be fine so I am happy for you and also that your puppy did okay in waiting so long to go outside and relieve her bladder. Have a good week and I hope you don't need to spend too much time cleaning up and doing repairs. I am thinking how cute your little cabin might look if you built shutters for your windows that you could use if every you have to deal with a storm again. See you all next Sunday and thank you for the update. Again, I am so glad you all are safe and your house is still standing and seeming unscathed. Kudos on the roofing job!
Very happy to hear you weathered the storm so well. On a side note... take the tree that fell, and put it on top of the tarps. Its green so its heavy and won't blow away, and it will need time to season anyway, so its a good way to keep everything safe and dry under the tarp
We were down that way during Hurricane Fiona, near Pictou in a rented 30 foot mobile home for a vacation. It was a bad as you showed, but everyone pulled together and we all made it work. Community, even among strangers, is a powerful thing.
I am so relieved that you are all fine and escaped relatively unscathed. This video was fantastic- obviously not that happiest content but it was so riveting.
So happy you’re safe. My brother lives in Virginia Beach and they got pounded on Friday because of hurricane Ian. I’m so sorry for all those that lost lives and homes❤
The shutter idea another viewer had is a good idea - they can be very practical and decorative at the same time. I’d love to see a better lock on your front door. Also, maybe take another look around at your surrounding trees that may have potential to hit any of your structures. So glad both of you and the puppies are safe!
Definitely get the solar system going, with a nice big battery. Even in situations like this when there is no sun, you can be much more fuel efficient with the generator by using it to charge the batteries. Having a large battery with a few days or even a week of autonomy also means that you don't have to get the generator going right after a storm hits, but you can focus on other things that might be more urgent than basic things like power.
I too recently (this summer )moved to Nova Scotia (cape Breton) from Ontario. Gave up my 20 year career for a better life. I too never experienced a hurricane. Watching your video totally put me back 2 weeks ago. I too was stressed with the unknown. Like you guys lived in an area that was sheltered and not costal. Glad you all safe. Love the videos.
You both got everything done in good order prior to Hurricane Fiona. I'm in North San Diego, mild weather most of the time, summer was insanely hot everywhere, but no huge storms. And this past week, Hurricane Ian slammed big chunks of Florida, 3 million were out of power at one point, 23.7 feet of flood/surge water in some areas. 1000's of permanent RV's , travel trailers, mobile homes which there are many, all underwater. Some folks have even lost their lives. 😯😥. Yet many areas didn't flood, but sustained high winds. It's a lot to comprehending. You two are in a good spot, the forest around you protected you 💖🌈💖🌈💖
You beautiful souls! I never comment on anything, however, I'm so happy you two and the fur babies are good. Your family have inspired me so much to get out and just try. I'm driving a tractor and tackle projects that I would not have attempted. When fear of operating chainsaw, or our tractor, my husband would remind me "those two did it, you can too!" Your right and with courage, I figure it out! Inspired! Love you guys and thank you for sharing your life! I gotta go now, I have another chainsaw lesson.......work is never done. Shout out to Porter and the great community around you! This is what inspires me to create around me. Go Pack!

Porter is just about the sweetest thing everrrrr!!!
Amazing example of preparedness and teamwork. We should all be so blessed to find partners we are in sync with, so many amazing things accomplished!
So glad you're safe!!
Glad you two are safe, great job on preparing
How nice of your neighbors to come and check on you , i am glad you are ok and did not have too much damage.
Good to hear that both Jaz and Crystal are both safe from the hurricane. Love to see both of you in all your videos. Jaz you are always happy and joyful and Crystal is a natural beauty.
I’m so glad you guys are ok and that there was no problems.
And yes, the roof didn’t fly away.

I was concerned about you guys in this storm. So glad you are safe! Porter is a super hero. He has such a great attitude.
Porter just keeps growing as a main character on your show. He even had lines today.
I feel like you two are going to be a support for your families as the world continues down our current path. I'm so impressed with both of you and everything you have accomplished!! Be strong and carry on! I look forward to seeing your adventure continue this winter.
glad y'all are ok and safe one thing to consider is CB radios and see if porter has on 2way radios work regardless of storms and other problems
I'm in the UK and the first people I thought about when I heard the storm was going up into East Canada was you two and I know I'm not the only one. That is the measure of how appreciated you are! Take care and keep up the good work!
I am so glad you didn't have any major damage and that everyone is safe! Praying that everyone in your area is okay and that everyone can repair the damage that occurred.
Glad you two made it through without a scratch! Way to pull through Porter!
You have no idea how hard I have been praying for your safety. I thank the Gods you are doing well. May you be blessed always. Big Bear Hugs from Arizona.
I love what you are doing. This episode sums up what being self sufficient is all about. Great job you 4 (can't leave out Bella and Izzy).

So glad you were both safe and survived Fiona. Your messages to everyone were amazing! I am from Ontario and live in Florida now. I was also very lucky to have very minimal damage from Ian. Never take any thing for granted!!
Keep being you girls! Love your videos❤️❤️

Glad you two are OK. Your prep was smart.
IVE been waiting since 6:30 pacific time! I hope yall are okay! sending good vibes! I just bought my first van because of you lovely ladies
Oh Trista sorry we were late today we had a glitch. 😔
Happy we could be an inspiration but look at you buying your first van oh the places you will go and the people you will meet! Enjoy.💛🐾
Big relief to see all of you are fine. Heart-warming to see how you & your neighbors check on and help one another. And, Porter is still a total rockstar!!!!
Hey Russell, thanks for your concern.
We sure have wonderful neighbours, a great community.
Porter and his family are safe and Porter is totally a rockstar!!💛💛
Glad to see you guys are safe and not too much damage
heartfelt coverage of the hurriance 1 year ago. beautiful to see your self sufficiency and the presence of community!
So glad my fav duo is safe! Thanks for keeping us updated!!💕
Those trees can be a blessing or a curse. They proved to be your good luck. So many people got wiped out, especially in Florida with H'Ian. Makes me feel really fortunate to be living in Montana.
So happy that you didn't that much damage and you both and the puppies are safe and sound
So glad you were safe after the hurricane Fiona. I am from Puerto Rico and no stranger to hurricane. Here there are still people without water or electricity after more than a week since the hurricane hit as only a category one hurricane.
Glad you guys are ok. Sending love and light to all affected by this ❤️🙏🤗
LETS GET AS MANY LIKES ON THIS AS WE CAN- OR COMMENTS TO SHOW PORTER HE'S THE MVP 🥳
This one's for Porter- if your reading these comments thanks for being a true east coastener and going about and beyond to help these ladies.
So happy you ladies are safe. Much love. Coming all the way from Mississippi.🙏🏽💪🏾💞
Hey Zing, sending you much love as well. Thanks for your concern. Happy to have you here from Mississippi. 💛🐾
I can’t even imagine the terror but I wouldn’t leave either. You’ve put your heart and souls into this. ❤
Edit: sustainable living for the WIN!!
Glad you made it through Ian! Greetings from Oviedo!
IAN destroyed my yard/house/ cars/ and town 👎🏼, but I’m alive!! Glad you are too 😃
I LOVE Porter. ❤. He is so kind, sweet, gentle …and cute 🥰. Please give him a hug for us for so generously helping you all out. He is one of the ‘good guys’. 👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Such a beautiful, soulful journey through two beings having chosen a life of beauty and hard work risk it all in a hurricane of tremendous force.
I was hoping you guys made it through. We just finished up with our slap of hurricane Ian in NC. Hoping the Floridians watching made it through okay!
Where in NC are you located? I'm next to Cape Lookout near Atlantic Beach.
SWFL here, it’s a mess here , grateful to have a home left.
Hi girls and puppy’s, so glad your both ok and not to much damage. Your friend and mine Rich.🙏🏻👌👍
Am glad that you are all okay and made it through safely. Also a big shoutout for the way this video was editted. Very well done.
So glad you are ok!! You are both so badass!! Be safe.
Hey Lucia.. thank you for your concern and your love. 💛🐾
So glad you’re safe. Sending healing to everyone affected by Fiona and Ian.
The ending of this vlog brought me to tears. I’m so grateful y’all are okay.
So glad you ladies are okay! You amaze me with your tenacity and fortitude! ❤
You two are in a good spot, the forest around you protected you
💖🌈💖🌈💖
Go Pack!
Oh la la Catherine.. so many compliments.. thank you.. most importantly so happy that you are learning so many new things and enjoying it. You never know if you like it until you try- such an empowering feeling to give it a go.
Bella and Izzy are family so thank you so much for including them.. See you next Sunday 💛
You two women are awesome. I've lived in Nova Scotia my whole life and have gone through many hurricanes and I can honestly say, you two prepared awesomely, bravo 👏
