    • @StrawberryRaine
      @StrawberryRaine 2 месяца назад +1

      @@LucianaVIP1 Cecilia has mentioned that there are two vets, and one hospital that also functions as a general doctor's office. Only basic procedures and check ups are done there, anything specialized or life threatening is required to be treated on the mainland (Norway). There isn't even a maternity ward since giving birth on the island is illegal.
      Not sure how much the vets are able to cover, the only mention that I've seen her talk about in her videos is that she once took Grim to get dental work done which did require anesthesia. With that though, there were lots of rescheduling and delays that lasted weeks since all the medicine has to be shipped in and sometimes specially ordered, and sometimes the boats/planes experience delays.

Even with two middle class incomes. Now we don’t know what Cecilia makes so but up to 1400 a month is a lot for just 2 people. Imagine what bigger families have to spend.

    I just stumbled onto your page. Absolutely fascinating and such a gorgeous place!! I’m born and raised in upstate NY, about an hour and a half north of NYC. I literally almost swallowed my tongue at your grocery prices. You made me feel so much better… thank you for that!😂😂 My weekly budget is $120.00. That’s had to remain the same even through our country’s inflation nightmare. Prices have pretty much doubled in the last several months. For examples… milk was $3 a gallon now it’s just under $6. Eggs were about $2 a dozen now $5 & up. Fuel prices have more than doubled which is one of our biggest issues. Thank the lord we use our wood stove to heat our entire home. I actually love it and wouldn’t ever want to change it. There’s something about that kind of heat. So comforting! We do have a furnace (we use it in spring and late fall when we can’t use our wood stove because it’s just too warm) but… kerosene is over $9.00 a gallon now (from roughly $3). My husband cuts and splits all our firewood every year. We have about 25 cord cut and split right now and have 2 loads of logs (that need to sit so it can be used next year) that will also be in the neighborhood of 25 cord when he’s done cutting and splitting. The wood was $600 a load and has since gone up to $750. My in-laws are next door to us and that wood heats both houses from late fall to spring. I’m binging your channel now…

    The sky is the most beautiful colour! Before you went to the store and after, on the way out. If I could ever live there I think I would get nothing done, I would just nurse a cup of coffee and stare at the sky all day and night long.

    That supermarket is impressive! Clean, modern, and has all the trendy foods. Much better than many markers in the small towns. All Artic towns look poor with bad infrastructure but this town looks very modern with good infrastructure. I love to live here for a year to experience life there!

    Living in San Francisco, also a very expensive place, for two of us we spend about $1000/month on groceries. That doesn't include some lunches when not working from home. It also doesn't include food for dog and other pets, who eat pretty expensive food! Admittedly, we don't cook fresh a lot or from scratch. Thanks for showing us a bit of your polar life!

    I could not handle complete darkness at all. In northern Canada the sun rises at 9 am and sets at 2:30 in December. I hope you feel better soon.

      @@carochan86 things slowly improve in Jan and feb and by feb the sun sets at 6-7 pm in late February and rises at 8 am. November and Dec are the darkest here. But still very cold in Jan. Minus 40 degrees Celsius.
