Vintage 1965 Mustang Race Car Budget Build

Why a vintage race Mustang? Cool sounds, cool vibe. And rather zippy, too. For years we’ve gotten a funny feeling every time we see a pack of old Shelby Mustangs at an HSR race. So, we dug deeper and got ourselves a 1965 Ford Mustang fastback.

Budget build starts with 20k roller... How about a 3k roller and junkyard parts?

I bought a 65 coupe roller for 400 bucks. Plan on building it for nasa American iron class

You can start with a fastback Mustang for $20K, or a '65 Ford falcon for $2K. call Hollman Moody for the upgrades...

This is cool. So: "if you want to race a mustang there are several different ways to go". My way, buy a old "A" sedan mustang race car with boss 302 engine 35 yrs ago. Shell was terrible, 2 mustangs welded together. Scrapped all sheet metal and kept the parts. Fast forward 35 yrs... Bought a rusty 68 coup then bought a nice ASA stock car chassis. Now going to put those together along with a refreshed boss 302. Then I'll go find a race to join. Probably be in NASA.
