If you have three levels of one independent variable, you have to use a ANOVA or analysis of variance as independent sample t-test only works with two levels. Also make sure you have equal variances and your data is normally distributed n>30.

Sir,
Students t test interpretations are quite puzzling to me.
Group A mean=76.68,sd=19.54,
t=-5.44 , p = .58
Group B mean = 79.84,sd= 21.48,
Inspite of differences in the mean why is this t test not significant.

Hi Anjum, When carrying out this test, you look to see if the p-value being less than .05. if it is, the test is significant, but if it is more than .05 (as it is in your case) then the result is not significant. Hope this helps.
