Having no family left. I buy a turkey breast, boxed stuffing , make green beans casserole, I buy a pumpkin pie. I remember when I had gotten married 43 years ago I would follow my mom’s recipes for the holidays. I remember getting up early to chop onions and celery and cut up the old bread. Thank you Becky for showing me things I used to do when I was young.
Hope you have a relaxing and peaceful Thanksgiving. Blessings to you from Ireland 🇮🇪
Happy Thanksgiving ☺️
Hubby and I are 65 and live in England (his country) but I am American (Texas). They do not celebrate Thanksgiving here, of course and we have no family in England anymore. My Mother passed away earlier this year and I am really missing her. Thanksgiving is such a family holiday that this is the only time of year I REALLY miss my family. I will still cook a feast for the 2 of us but I so miss cooking with my Mom, even when she was too frail to stand long enough to cook. She would sit and chat while I cooked and we talked over all the Thanksgivings we spent around the world in our military travels. I hope you enjoy your turkey and stuffing, just as I will, despite of the lack of family. Sending you virtual hugs! Happy Thanksgiving!
@@debbiedugay8574 thank you this is what I needed. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the hardest on me. But I will push myself to get things done and put the extra turkey in the freezer. Happy Holidays to you and your husband
@@eileenkillen1481 thank you so much. Happy Holidays to you
Becky, "OH GOODNESS!!!! MY SPATULA IS CATCHING ON FIRE!"Then moves on as if it didn't even happen. I just love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Hi, Becky. Still loving your channel. I hope you'll be preparing ahead Thanksgiving dishes with your Mom again this year. Your parents are so supportive of you. I love watching the two of you making this yearly meal for the whole family. I enjoy seeing you cook with Renee, your mother in-law, too. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.❤
I am patiently waiting for the videos (I am hoping for the usual 2) of her and her mom. My little one and I enjoy watching them together.
They celebrated early at her Mom's so that should be coming out next week.
@@sheenabullock6399, me too. It reminds me of my sister & I working with our mother in the kitchen. Our mom died in 2011, but we still miss her & are glad we have those memories.
It will be coming out next :)
@@AcreHomesteadtell your mom happy thanksgiving for us!! Love your recipes and the look so good!!
OMG Becky. I made the orange cranberry cheesecake! I’m shocked. I can’t believe I made a cheesecake. I know it doesn’t seem like a big deal but I NEVER thought I’d make a cheesecake never mind a flavored one. My family loved it at thanksgiving. I did exactly as you did regarding the sauce. No extra sugar, corn syrup or even a blender. Exactly like yours. It was phenomenal. I used the whole bag of cranberries (bc what would I ever do with random cranberry’s ?). The extra sauce I put in a jar and it was fantastic on leftover Turkey sammys! Love it! I can’t wait to make another one.
Becky,
I always look forward to your videos. You are simply the best!
Regarding your channel-Things I’m thankful for:
~No snappy, loud or annoying intro
~No background music with your videos
~You just start speaking with a soft tone. I appreciate your calm spirit.
~You share when you have a “fail” with your recipes
~You are super organized
~Your recipes are delicious and very practical
Keep up the good work and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
I have to add that she doesn’t waste our time with sponsors!
@@marypayne2066 totally agree, if I see one more ad for AG1 am gonna crack!!
In the south we add layers of thin sliced raw onion with other layers in the “Scalloped Potatoes”….HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you all. 🦃
Hi Becky, I wanted let you know that you can save your cheese rinds off your Gruyère cheese or Parmesan cheese and pop them in the freezer. Add them to your soups to add flavor while cooking. Remember to fish them out before serving but it is an amazing way to add some addition flavor! Also, I made your Grandma’s stuffing last thanksgiving and it was a huge hit! It is on our menu again these year by a unanimous vote. Thank you for bringing joy to our home and I am so grateful for all of your wonderful inspiration and recipes. 🧡
I was wondering if the dark edges could be used. Thank you for mentioning this.
It’s so true, everybody in my family loved my moms cooking! There’s no changing her delicious recipes, she passed in 2020 and was 100 years young ❤
Here's a great leftover stuffing idea. you'll need a waffle iron. 3-4 cups stuff, 1 egg -beaten, 2 Tbls. Melted butter. Combine. Put 1/2 cup stuffing on a hot waffle iron, sprayed.
Waffle will brown. Serve with eggs & sausage for breakfast, or turkey & cranberry sandwich for lunch.
Yuck
Becky I have to tell you! The other day I went to the store to buy naan to go with the coconut curry I made and the didn’t have any and I called around to other stores and nobody had any, I was in the parking lot of the store trying to figure out what to do and I said I’m going to make my own, I went I. The store again and grabbed the 2 ingredients I didn’t have on hand and I made my own naan! I have never made any bread of my own or even used
flour outside of regular cooking! You have given me the confidence to do something like that and it turned out great! Thank you!!
Also it came out way cheaper than buying naan bread
Lovely to see you using the UK version with the McVities Digestive Biscuuits. They're fabulous dunked in a cup of coffee but don't leave them in there more than 3 seconds or the fall into your cup xx
Hobnobs are nice as base of cheesecake as well
Totally agree about Hobnobs
I came to see if someone had commented on the digestives biscuits 😄. Good to know they are a similar flavour to the Graham Crackers since we don't have them here.
They also have McVities milk and dark chocolate 😋🏴😋
Hi Becky, just a tip when making the apple upside down cake. When putting cake mix on top of caramel if you want to avoid the caramel bubbling up the sides during cooking. Put small amounts of mix all around the edges first so it creates a seal and the caramel can't seap up, then fill in the middle and smooth it out. Hope that makes sense😊
I tried adapting recipes with a twist on my family… “This is good but it doesn’t taste like Grandma’s.” I save these delicious “twists” for Friendsgiving. Your content just keeps getting better and better. ❤️
It really does get better all the time!
I hear you! 😊
I’m wondering why you didn’t use a simple mandolin for slicing the potatoes?
Its been 23 years since mom passed away,we buried her the day before Thanksgiving. Ever since then I get so depressed around this time of year but you made me smile watching this video. She would have loved watching you.
My Gramma died on Thanksgiving in '09. Its still a bit sad for us. But I swear she did it on purpose! Think about it. Everyone has off from work for the long weekend and is in town. You have masses of food in the house and cooking it gives you something to do. And it's a holiday to be thankful for your loved ones.
Parmesan rinds are a great addition to soups. Worth trying Gruyere as well…
Hi Becky! Everything looks soooo good! You might want to try a mandolins- slices the potato in half the time and can get really thin!
You definitely know when the recipe is an instant winner to Becky. The minute the food hits her tongue her eyes go big and light up her whole face. When its okay, she takes a little longer to react. 😉
Making pies and most sides the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. This is perfect timing
Becky you need a mandolin you made me nervous for you you cutting those potatoes 😅
Me too!!
Agreed!
Becky you are such a sweetheart to watch on how to do so many wonderful receipts and garden growing and canning. I hope a lot of young ladies are watching you, as I think they would learn so much from you. I'm seventy-three and I still learn a lot from you. You are a joy to watch. Happy Thanksgiving to your family.
Yes, I agree seventy three and we are still able to learn some new tricks! Yay
Looks like amazing recipes! FYI~cheesecake should not be beaten in the mixer since it aerates the mixture and changes the texture making it more spongy. Very soft cream cheese and hand mixing gently with a whisk is the best way to blend for a very creamy cheesecake! 🙂
You can use a mixer but just be careful of the speed you cream the mixture with; I've done it hundreds of times. You don't "whip" it - you "cream" it. Becky did just fine obviously because hers was beautiful!
Hi Becky your potatoes au gratin, is very similar to mine, but I use layers of thinly sliced onions instead of garlic. I also have a twist, add thin layers of uncooked sausage meat. Now you have "gateaux du pauvre homme". I make this often and when my grown up children come to visit , IT'S A MUST!!!!!! All the best. Anne in France.
@@annelord3685ça semble délicieux !!
Awesome recipes! Thank you Becky!🎄🥰
I just wanna say, I really liked the editing on this video! I don't know if you are doing something different, but it is a really good one today! Also, I just love seeing the view out of your kitchen window. It's so beautiful, and I don't think I'd ever get sick of seeing mountains! Thank you for bringing joy to my day!
Hello Leslie
When I tell you my 4yr old was excited to see you have a new video up, I would be understating the excitement. She asks for your videos every night before bed!
Also, it's easier to distribute your spices if you mix them into the cream first.
I envy this! I live in a really small studio and dont have space to cook or bake for a large group. My parents stopped hosting Thanksgiving due to my siblings passing away and now we barely celebrate it. Im hoping one day ill have a beautiful kitchen like this and can host thanksgiving and cook for my family and get them back to celebrating. ❤️
Also love Julia child. I still like to follow some of those old french recipes. :)
I look at your videos every morning now to get inspiration for the day. I watch you and drink my coffee then I watch garden answer a lot of your videos I take into the kitchen with me. Thanks for hanging out with me and inspiring me. I love to do things with others like you do your mom and right now in this season of life that is not an option for me so thank you for everything you do. God bless.
I've been listening to you today while meal prepping food. Rather than all in one day I've broken it up into batches. Today was all the mince I needed to form into things like meatballs burger patties and steaks.
You're so inspiring. I hate forming mince (because I don't like touching meat with my hands) but I just sat down and got it done while you were in my ears.
And my husband was definitely surprised when there was only one bowl and one jug to clean afterwards because they all used similar ingredients.
Thank you for always posting. I can listen to you for hours and for the last few weeks catching up on the last 6 months of videos o literally have been listening to you for hours
Tip on cheese rands; Great addison to put in soups/sauces. Its not a problem to let it cook along for up to an hour. I have a freezer bag in my freezer where i save all cheese rands.
Becky has mentioned several times that she does save cheese rinds.
Hey becky, the digestive "cookies" (biscuits!) The brand name is McVities. They come plain like you bought, but more popular are chocolate digestives, one side of the plain digestive has a thin layer of chocolate - they are available in both milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Another British biscuit you might like and the plain version would also be good for a cheesecake base are hobnobs, they are an oat based biscuit, not like an oatmeal cookie your familiar with but rather like the digestive. its half digestive, half oatmeal cookie but has the density and snap of the digestive/Graham cracker that you get from true biscuits aka twice baked; unlike cookies which are soft (& probably part of the reason why brits will say a cookie is a biscuit but a biscuit is not a cookie).
Love the dark chocolate digestives - but funnily enough I hate Hobnobs in any form - all I can taste is granulated sugar.
Great explanation
You said everything I was going to say! Very well explained thanks🙂
Chocolate digestives make a delicious cheesecake base
Love Hobnobs with butter and a cup of tea!
For a super quick au gratin you can add your thinly sliced potatoes to a baking dish in layers - sprinkling a small amount of powdered onion soup mix and a drizzle of heavy/thickened cream between each layer. Alternatively, you can do the same layering process but add chopped green onion, crushed garlic and cooked bacon with the drizzle of heavy cream between each layer. Top with grated cheese and cracked black pepper.
I do Sweet Potatoes, beets, and parsnips with cream and garlic baked to perfection. Yum. A family favorite.
What I love most about your posts is how you say,
Hello Friend. ♡♡♡
You made me giggle with the digestives! I am British and they are a staple in our house with a cup of tea! They are PERFECT for a cheesecake biscuit base! Lovely video as always!! 🍂🧡
I always add dried cranberries to my dressing. Also chopped pecans as well as sage and onion.
Becky, Yes I make sweet potato au gratin all the time. You don't want to use all sweet potatoes. Use half golden or russet and half sweet potatoes.
Different and delicious.
Thanks for all your cooking and recipes.
Happy Thanksgiving. ❤
If you can find them, try digestives with a milk or a dark chocolate coating on one side. Its the perfect dunking biscuit (cookie)
Or hobnobs as base as well
I love digestive biscuits with cheddar cheese 🙂 Dark choc are also great but milk choc hobnobs are my fave. Glad to be a Brit for our biscuits 😄
Hobnobs🤤
We put butter in a saucepan, melt it and add the biscuit crumb. Then push into the baking tin and pop into the fridge to go hard x
So do l as well but use greaseproof paper first so it's easier to get out of cake tin 😊
Total agree with both of you, crumb base in the fridge not the oven, as it’s already cooked you can also use ginger biscuits instead of digestives. They are far better dunked in a cup of tea lol xx
@roseprosser3930 I use ginger snaps for the crust of my Pumpkin Cheesecake. Also as a "dipper" if I make a pumpkin-based dip.
How long to keep the crust in the fridge to harden please!?
@@rrt401 just whilst you are making the filling
Becky has taught me a lot of things. I am now a committed “precooker.” Thanks to our sweet ❤Becky.
Not to mention the no-knead bread has so many fabulous renditions. Dilly, Rosemary, wheat, rye, chocolate … there seem to be endless recipes. 👍🏻
Cheddar Jalapeño 😋

Oh Becky I just love your videos & your Homestead is beautiful. I watch your videos at night with a nice cup of coffee and I so enjoy the length of your videos. Watching them is just a nice relaxing end to the day.
Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas! 😊
Aw thank you! I hop you have an amazing holiday season!
I do the same!
Becky, something I learned for making cheesecake crusts is use a dry measuring cup to press the crumb crusts. It makes pressing things so much easier
Happy Afternoon and blessed weekend all! Hi Becky, hi friends!
I made a blue cheese sweet potato gratin a few years ago for Thanksgiving! It was amazing
I love some of your recipes. However, being a Southern girl, I love cornbread dressing.
Me too
Yes! I’ve been bored with the traditional Thanksgiving foods. This is perfect 👍🏼.
The upside down cake is delish. I’ve also used rhubarb or peaches. Yummy
I’m only a minute in and already loving your twist on traditional. Thanksgiving was last month in Canada, but I still love collecting these fall-winter recipes that could be family faves. My husband loves cheesecake but not everyone does. Cranberry sounds like an amazing combo to break the overly sweetness.
Back to to watching…. ❤
I just love your baking drawer. It’s so efficient. When I reno my kitchen I want to incorporate this. I find your whole kitchen to be very efficient. Would love to hear from your view what works and what doesn’t though.
The drawers are by far my favorite thing about my kitchen!
My kitchen is 90 percent deep drawers and so practical .
Hi Becky, I suddenly had this vision of you on a cooking show while watching this. I get all the feels of watching my fave cooking shows while enjoying your channel. Love❤
I love coming to your house! Thank yout for sharing, Becky.
When you've watched enough of Becky's videos, you know when a recipe is truly a winner just by her expression while tasting it! You could tell the difference between the stuffing reaction and the gratin reaction.
I've never had stuffing and weldon't celebrate Thanksgiving in my culture, so I'm not sure if I would like it. But I do love potatoes and I've had amazing potato gratins! That one looks fantastic.
I grew up on a cornbread dressing so bread was a no for me from the jump. Those potatoes though🌻👍
Perfect timing! Just finished house cleaning and I needed a break!
Please film a cooking day with your mom again. I love seeing you two cook together.
Hi Becky, one thing I just learned and suprised me is that "stuffing" is what you actually put in the bird and cook it together. Dressing is what you made, like a side dish. Who knew!?! 😊
Becky Have I just discovered your channel and I am a local native Oregon girl myself. Your stuffing recipe with the modifications of apple and sausage sounds so much like a stuffing recipe that my mother would make. We lost our mom this May and prior to that she moved from her longtime home to Assisted Living where she had limited capability to cook. While cleaning the house before I knew what happened her recipe book got tossed by my brothers. So very glad your have your grandmothers recipes because I really wish I had my Moms collection from over the years. You are truly a blessing to watch.
I am in the kitchen now with four of your recipes from other Thanksgiving videos you and your mom did. Will certainly add any of these that I can! ! Thank you so much!
Becky, I always put apples and dried cranberries and mushrooms in my stuffing…your onion dip looks so delicious and those potatoes I just might have to try very soon. Thank you again
The view from your window is simply amazing.
Thank you all your smiles!
My grandmother made me a snack with cold (leftover) sweet potatoes with cream and pecans. Was amazing
Yummm…Cranberry cheesecake for Christmas it is! Thank you, Becky. Now where did I put that springform pan 🤔 😉
Hello ivysantiago
I always love your thanksgiving ideas! I feel inspired for this year

Oh my goodness YUM! I bet people can't wait to see what beautiful dishes your bringing or cooking for dinner❤😊 all looks so good🎉Happy Thanksgiving to you and your Family
oh. my. word. Your cooking is amazing. Thank you Becky!
I used to make a gratin with layered potatoes and sweet potatoes. Start with carmelized onions on the bottom, layer the two types of potatoes, add sage and thyme and other seasoning, and cover in broth.
Hi Becky I’ve always made stuffing with your recipe, but add grated carrots to the vegetables. Adds a little more color and sweetness😊
My late husband took our family stuffing recipe and tweaked it. We do a pork sausage, apple, Bartlett pear, and some raisins. People who don't like stuffing really love mine. I bake mine the day before and just heat it up in the oven while the turkey finishes. We love Thanksgiving and all the fun sides. Have a great day everyone, Debbie Lavigne 😊 I made a recipe for sweet potato au gratin. It sounded luscious. It tasted awful, it was so bad that I threw it away. Now I'm reluctant to do it again.
The apple, pears, and raisin addition sounds great. I have all here I might add those. I have the golden raisin, my favorite.
@@marlies7444 sounds good. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does. Happy Thanksgiving. 😊

McVities Chocolate Digestive Bisquits are my mother's favorite cookies. She is from England and ate them as a child. And, yes you can make it the same way with sweet potatoes, you can add nutmeg also!
Love all of mcvities biscuits range there's alot to choose from to many to name on here but to make cheesecake use ever digestive biscuits or chocolate one but l have found that if l use chocolate hobnobs there nice as cheesecake base as well

Becky, I absolutely LOVE your channel. You are so inspiring. Keep up the good work !
Love watching you cook.
Digestives are common cookies in Canada and most of us grew up eating them, so it's quite a nostalgic thing for us. I'd never heard of using them for the crust of a cheesecake which sounds wonderful. Looking forward to seeing how it works out for you.
We don't have Graham Crackers in the UK so use Digestive biscuits most often for cheesecakes. They're also often dunked in a big mug of tea or coffee, or for me hot chocolate since I don't drink tea or coffee.
all looks so amazing! It's pronounced "awe-gra-tin". I will be making this recipe! the apple cake looks so yummy too!

I buy a lot of cranberries this time of year and dry them myself because I really don't like the pre sweetened ones. I put them in baked oatmeal with apples and they're really good in no bake cookies in the summer.

Your view from the kitchen is absolutely beautiful
