- I got something that transforms my phone into a gaming console, and not only that, the experience I get gaming on this thing is BETTER than a "Steam Deck" in many ways. WHAT VOODOO IS THIS!? It's the Gamesir X2 PRO, and it has some VERY cool tricks up its sleeve. Not only does it play android games with full controller support AND touchscreen mapping support, and not only does it work for retro games in your favourite frontend like DIG or Daijisho and your favourite emulators like Dolphin or Retroarch, it also gives you a full STEAM DECK experience using Steam Link, in glorious ULTRAWIDE resolution!

Picked up the Gamesir X2 Pro over the holidays and love it. Works great with my Samsung S22 Ultra and S10+. Use it mostly with gamepads, steamlink, and emulation.
I'm glad that the Game Boy grew up to be a respectable Game Sir.
Didnt know I needed this until now. You sold me on this. Cant wait to try it
I don't know about this one, but GameSir controllers were recommended to me by a DIY emulator console kit I bought. I tried a couple and they were actually quite good for a very low price compared to other after market controllers, I can't remember the model I bought but it was their Dualshock 4 knockoff. They worked great. I bought my youngest the M4 mini for his tablet and Switch gaming and I've been really impressed by how well it works and how good it feels - even in larger hands.
I did exactly this with a Standard Gamesir X2 and my old BlackShark 2. Emulating all the way up to Ps2 has been a blast and streaming is great too. Nothing comes close unless you pay up for a Steam Deck.
Point of information. Tencent (COD mobile devs) have patched out this type of controller pass through. You can still play it with a controller but it must be blue tooth. Which I get it. They dont want me running over touch screen people with this thing, but its still sad. :(
Dang. That's a shame. It worked so good!
I had one of those for my iPhone, loved it but the no analog triggers sucked so I returned them. I've got a backbone but I liked the feel of that one better. Nice that the new one comes with analog triggers
I may look into this as well I have a backbone as well
The X2 Pro has the analog triggers, but I don't know if there's an iOS version for it (though if you have an iPhone 15 it will probably work now since it's USB-C).
I use this for remote play or game pass when traveling and it’s great, I run it on mobile data while traveling in rural areas and it runs flawless
My, what a rabbit hole this video led me down to.
This is definitely a much better investment than a handheld console since I can easily "upgrade" my hardware whenever I need to.
Phones and tablets are definitely the future of handheld consoles.
Totally!
I took a nail file(salon board) to my X2 and lowered the rubber around the USB C port, bought the thinnest case I could, and filed the bottom of it as well so that I could use my phone in its case on the Gamesir.
I used to use a Razer Kishi and really liked it Unfortunately the original Kishi doesn't fit on my RedMagic 7. So for now I use a phone stand and an Xbox controller. I do have a KT-R1 ordered though! Thanks for the video.
Good morning! I hope today is a good one for you. Very nifty video/product. I've got an Xbox branded kishi v1 and it is a bit cheaper but doesn't seem nearly as nice as this (no screen mapper, and more flimsy). I thought I would use it more, but it was more like a gateway to wanting a handheld. I think the big limiter for me was that I didn't want to risk messing up my primary phone, and it doesn't have a micro-sd card slot, so I didn't want to fill it up with games. I'm one of those wackos who got, and loves, the Logitech Cloud. It isn't NEARLY as powerful as my S21, but the screen and controls are a delight. And it has worked great for all of the games I've wanted to play so far.
I think the Cloud is a GREAT device. I would have bought one if it was just a little bit cheaper. Yeah it's not as powerful as other handhelds, but in terms of the screen and controls and ergonomics it's top notch.
Your video was awesome! I really enjoyed it and found it very engaging. Keep up the great work on your channel and I hope it continues to grow and succeed!
Aw thanks for saying so!
I've been using the same cellphone for about 2 years or more. After I replace my phone this sounds like a good accessory.
Amazing use for an old phone!
I need to know if Steam Link works fine with X2, not Pro version. I heard X2 isnt a Xinput controller, so maybe some buttons or even the controller didn't work properly with Steamlink or Parsec.
i owned a shit ton of third party controllers to game on my phone, including the gamesir x2 pro. my xbox series x controller with an 8bitdo phone clip attached basically beats them all
I tried this, actually with a gamesir controller and a phone mount, and it works well for mobile gaming. But for some reason, it didn’t hold at all as strong as using my steamdeck.
I use a backbone with my iPhone to do things like emulation Xbox cloud and Ps remote play. Since I I bought that thing I’ve been doing more aint just on my phone than any of my consoles. It’s the convenience that makes it great for me
I just got mine. How do you deal with the short grips? I find it uncomfortable to hold when using the right analog stick. I really wish the gamevice flex was back in stock. 😢 I got a good price on the Gamesir X2 Pro $64 but I honestly would have paid more for a thicker controller. I have med sized hands. Regular? I think its because the analog stick is directly under the 4 buttons. I cant seem to get a good hold with my heavy phone in there. Its a 23 Ultra. Anyone figure this out?
You grow on very good. Love to see people like me with that imense good quality work skills. I am not so good at komplex workloads to share my experience. That is not a direct problem for me, but i think something what i have to talk about computer stuff is interessting for nerds like us here.^^ So i spam the comment sections and share my opinion with others. :-D
I hope you stay healthy and you have fun with producing your insane content.
Haha thanks buddy :)
I have the regular x2, i dont think the analogs are that great but using it to play games from the MS xcloud is really awesome, nice vid
i got rid of my x2 for that purpose damn what an awful deadzone
@@diluqait yeah mate, im just talking to a buddy that is visiting the US so maybe he can bring me a Gamevice Flex when he is back.. it looks to be the best one out there
Have you played with adding a dock (for extra USB A connections and HDMI) and using Samsung's Dex mode (so it looks like a desktop). I have a Pixel 5 (which does not allow HDMI out), but seen others do this to connect the phone to a bigger screen (or also make a smaller arcade cabinet.
I've played around with Dex and I love it. I haven't tried it with a dock yet but that's a great idea, I definitely should.
I bought an x2 pro recently and am so impressed! I'm mostly interested in ps2 emulation (I like my miyoo mini plus for everything less intensive) but the game pass ultimate is such a cool novelty. The app is sketchy though. Why does a controller app need GPS access? Luckily you can reject permissions a few times and there's a 'skip' option
Yeah who knows about the sketchy app. I assume if there were any red flags we'd have heard about them. Gamesir wants to sell products, I don't think it'd be worth it for them to get scammy with their app. But you can totally use it without the app, it works fine, the app is just for using their version of a screen mapper, and there are other 3rd party tools for that that work with this controller AFIK.
I tried for hours to get call of duty mobile to work with this controller and I just can't figure it out . Please help ??
I bought the Gamesir X2 Type C and loved it a lot. Worked as described. Then the Android was updated and ever since the thing is dead. Just doesn't work anymore. And this is not only about my specific unit.
A proper company would solve that with an update, but not Gamesir... or maybe they did, but to see if, you would have to install their app, where you can tell all of your personal communication details to the Chinese governmemt directly.
Their devices are great, I still miss that thing. But never would I buy another one.
Looks awesome, this may be a bad question, but is there a version of the controller for Apple or only Android?
There is a non-pro version that works with Apple devices.
Just got mine in, bought it from this video!! Still setting it up but it’s pretty cool so far!
Nice! I've used it a ton since making this vid (I had a COD Mobile obsession for a good week). Great device.
@@TechDweeb gonna try and run Shadow of the Colossus and I Ninja on this thing. Love your content! Such atmosphere!!!
I actually like the full size controller with phone clip form factor a lot! (Probably because I like to play mobile shooters while standing to get an infinite range of motion for gyro aiming)
I might get the x2 controller. I have a kishiV2 which is my favorite for dpad, i think the sticks need a bit more travel but for under £20 i kinda prefer my BSP-D3 controller overall. it connects native to xbox or ps4 controller only android games via BT< not noticed delay, with better sticks...The triggers are a bit clicky and the dpad is a bit of a let down n overall cheap feel
Love your content. I do feel that you are sleeping on getting a steamdeck. The track pads, sound stage, and overall comfort of the handheld makes for a great gaming experience. I hope to see "I was wrong about the steam deck" video from you in the future 😅
I hope to see that too :)
I was about to say something similar. The button and thumbsticks layout of the Steam Deck may look weird, but they are super comfortable and premium, compared to the Switch type layout, which tend to cramp hands after awhile. And the Deck also has gryo abilities. Not sure if the Gamesir X2 Pro has that. And with the Vibrant Deck mod to increase saturation, it gives it an Oled type experience.
In order to appreciate the deck you must first own it, I’ve been playing this thing more than my PS5 due to how comfortable and well rounded it is.
@@CyberClu @CyberClu Gamesir X2 Pro does not have Gyro. But that may be possible via the phone itself. I own this controller & a Steam Deck and hands down the Steam Deck is a much better experience, even without having my 1440P OLED phone screen. The X2 Pro is more comfortable than a Switch but not more comfortable than a Steam Deck. It is just more cramped in general and missing all of those QOL features, plus cloud gaming is not for everyone.
It's so amazing how you fan boys missed the point of the video. This unit is $70 vs $400 and it's comparable in experience. Some of us can't go out and buy yet another console, nor do we want to.
You’re the man! You make the best videos and I’m going to return my Razer Kishi and get a Gamesir 2 Pro! That Tech Dweeb!!!
Thanks buddy!
@@TechDweeb You’re welcome but thank you for the great content. I ordered a Gamesir 2 Pro last night from Amazon which are on sale. I will let you know how it works out with my Samsung Galaxy 10S plus.
Does it work with a phone case on? I have the original razor, and it sucks having to take off phone case and losing quick charge.
Some cases do work. I have 2 cases, one of them is a little too thick, but the other is thinner and it works fine.
Vtouch won't work on my pixel 4 😢 I need a PC to download something I've tried the wireless connection but it still won't connect only hid mode works 😔
I have a similar setup and can access my PC also when I am on the go. Not from 5G/4G but when there is WiFi in my hotel or at my families place - I can play my games from afar, no problem. Just need at least 20Mbit upload
I use an 8bitdo Lite controller (the one with 2 d-pads) as a backup that I try and keep on me often. So I can play my retro games and Symphony of the Night and Dead Cells on Android without touch controls. I just can't with touch controls. Not the same precision as I get from years of using controllers.
I'm with ya. 99% of the time touch controls suck.
I'm very comfortable with the on screen touch button now and not carrying the attachable controller as long as they are responsive. The remote play app from Sony is not one of them though. Very bad touch implementation and needed the physical controller.
Interesting. I've not had a chance to try the Sony streaming yet.
Backbone makes a licensed PlayStation one of these. Cool that there are licensed versions of this product for both Microsoft and Xbox configuration. I have always been a PlayStation guy. If I was in the market for one of these I would be super happy to pick one up
It’s a shame that most mobile games aren’t developed with the idea in mind that phones can become a fully fledged console once you connect a controller to them!
I use a Backbone with an old iPhone I have and it is so freaking awesome! Doesn't wiggle or anything, it's nice and sturdy, analog triggers work perfectly in games like Forza Horizon, and works great in other games too. I still prefer the Steam Deck more though... 😂
I've heard good things about the Backbone!
Would you mind sharing the brand and model of the phone featured in this video?
Samsung S10+
This is great. Potentially a great addition to the steam deck. I love my steam deck, mostly because I'm not home enough, but even there when I'm too lazy to get up. Steam Deck is the way. However with the deck, you don't get super high refresh rates. I get 90hz on my phone. So I really think streaming to it makes more sense when at home and don't mind physically getting up to turn on the PC
can u explain how u did the part 11:28 retro gaming i want to trun my mobile into retro gaming console what app did u use
That app is Dig. This video explains how I set it up: ruclips.net/video/evuTu5fnDls/видео.html
What if you have a thick phone? Will it fit?
What was that pixel art game you were playing for a few seconds? You were running back and forth behind a barrier blowing stuff up. It looked cool!
In my other video? That's called Botvice. AWESOME game!
@@TechDweeb Thanks! I'm gonna check it out
Got X2 Bluetooth from the time ROG2 until the mobo dead.. Now still using it with RedMagic7 until now. Cant conplaint more. Better than Razer Kishi that cost more.
Glad i bought this X2.
May i know, what launcher do you use on your phone?
Nova Launcher for android, Dig for retro games.
I love the mom jokes,
Great content bro
Thanks bro 🤓
Nice device, Bring more! ✌🏼😁🎮
I'm convinced! Thanks
I just have the regular X2. But it's all the way across the room. Can I do the same things with it or do I have to get up and find out for myself lol?
It's just a controller nothing else. If your phone can do it then all good.
Yeah same stuff. I think the main difference between the x2 and the pro is the quality of the controls, and also they added passthrough charging.
the control has some short comings to be honest mine i mean in terms of button size and all, and the big elephant in the room when you use ABXY the thumbstick interferes
If you leave the X2 Pro connected, it drains the battery like crazy. 25-30% overnight. There are multiple reports of this behaviour online but none of the youtube reviews meintion it.
Has anyone found a way to address this issue? Or is there a way to put the x2 pro on standby, while connected to the phone?
Sadly it makes it difficult to turn a device into a dedicated gaming console indefinitely 😢
Interesting. I wonder if his anything you can do with the app permissions, maybe suspend it when not in use or something
@@TechDweeb that is the thought process I had too, so I completely removed their app and found that it continued to do the same, as long as the controller was connected. Additionally, I couldn't find any core apps that I could turn off to disable the usb power throughput to the controller... It's like the controller keeps draining the battery in an effort to keep itself ready to go all the time, instead of going in standby or something after not being used for a certain period of time.
Just out of sheer curiosity: Do you do Twitch at all TechDweeb? :D
Not yet 🤔
I recently got interested in the Steam Deck because of the Diablo IV release. Have you ever tried playing any Diablo like game using a setup like this? If it works well using this setup I might hold out on the Steam Deck and buy one of these controllers instead and save money.
I can't see why it wouldn't work, as long as the game supports controllers on PC you should be fine to stream it to your phone and get the same experience.
@@TechDweeb I would totally crush D2 remastered on this thing. BUT the problem is that Steam link (I have to old hardware link box) is wonky sometimes. And not everything wants to work remotely. This is probably not by accident and if its not Valve is in obviously no rush to fix this.
Bought a few retro handhelds, yet I just didn't find them suitable for my needs. I managed to get an X2 for £40 and utilised my old Pixel 4a and its everything I need for retro gaming. Saved myself a fortune over the steam deck too and for me it's all I require.
For those of us looking at not spending a ton, then one of these is ideal.
There's a YT vid of someone using a Galaxy Fold with one of these. Looks epic.
Amazing quality of the controls with this thing too, much better than most of the retro handhelds out there even the more expensive ones.
@@TechDweeb Yes, I was surprised at the quality of them too. Zero drift and lag.
Thats awesome!
Yo! Sup Dweeeeeeb! YES! I've been waiting for this episode. Thanks dude!
It's all fun and games until you get a call or a pop up notification
Haha true true
I'd recommend the kishi over this, if not just for the price
But using your phone for gaming, grabbing a gamepass subscription to get access to PC games, it's actually a lovely deal!
Even with my unhealthy love for the steam deck, I have 0 issues recommending a phone controller and game pass for those that don't have hundreds of looneys to spend on hardware and games.
I didn't even touch on Game Pass in this video (because I can't, because my rural internet sucks), but that's a great point!
To anyone reading this, avoid the kishi and the backbone.
Gamesir X2 Pro or Gamesir G8 Galileo are still probably your best choices.
Why? They use sticks that are closer to an actual controller than the joycon like sticks that the backbone and kishi use.
The G8 Galileo blows both out of the water in ergonomics, buttons, and sticks (except the d-pad) and has better pricing (unless you find them on sale)
Picked one of these up with the intention of just leaving it attached to an old phone to use as a retro handheld. I can only point to a couple minor nitpicks but for some reason i just cant vibe with it. The minor nitpicks are slow charging unless you want to disassemble, cant fit the phone and the controller in the case it came with and a general bulkiness. But those are minor gripes and I imagined myself getting over them. Overall the controller feels like good quality too.
Yet for some reason I just cant be bothered to play with it and I want to try a dedicated handheld like RP3+ or Pocket Flip instead.
That's fair. Sometimes you don't know how you feel about something until you start using it. Sometimes something you don't think you'll like ends up being your favourite, and sometimes something you think you'll love ends up collecting dust.
I have an RP3 and I like this better.
@@topdamagewizard that's not good news for me then lol I ordered a retroid pocket flip hoping a stand alone device would feel better.
Maybe I'm just not a handheld kind of guy. We'll see after my pocket flip arrives.
I do have a Razer Kishi, I should try this soon.
And then there's me, using the deck to stream play games on my s23 using this controller for it
Unfortunately, this also blocks the headphone jack. Unless we're using low latency earbuds, there's gonna be lag. Rhythm games might be impossible.
people make out bluetooth headphone latency to be a much bigger issue than it actually is. i can’t tell the difference when using my airpod pros or wired earbuds with my steam deck
I use my rp3+ for steam link sometimes, sad thing is my internet isnt the best and my pc isnt strong, I have an intel hd 4400 , I will get a deck eventually, I will STILL use the steam link method though as I dont want to damage my deck when going outside
Qual é o celular que você usou?
Fantastic video bud 🔥 I have the new GameSir X2s it's amazing! Was only released in china about 2months ago, it went under the radar no one has mentioned it or heard of it, incremental update from the X2 but also as good/better than the X2 Pro 🙂
Hall sensor triggers 🔥 amazing joysticks, good build quality, class buttons, limited edition retro Nintendo colour etc. I paid £35 with a coupon. Using my new Samsung 24 games are so much fun, especially using Yuzu for switch games. Full speed gameplay massive library too much fun so less time ♥️
Definitely try bag one for yourself as not many people are aware of it so easier & cheaper to get.
does it fit a galaxy s22 ultra?
The advantage of this is that, if your PC is strong enough, surpassing a steam deck you're basically golden, you can even connect to a tablet (bigger screen) + a wireless controller. The disadvantage is that this is a HOME ONLY remedy. I am still thinking to get a hand held just for the vibes, Pocket 4/4 Pro looks good along with the RG35XX H. One of them would do, Odin 2 would be just like a steam deck in this instance and besides the extra portability of the Odin 2 if you just wanna use it at home, then the steamlink combo will do better. Or even better, Odin 2 + steamlink xD
Awesome setup and cheap , I have an oled steam deck even a gaming pc ,but as you said if someone needs a cheap alternative to play on the sofa or in bed its a good idea and not spending too much , but for personal taste i`d prefer the steam deck🤗
I have a gamesir. If you shave off the rubber near the male usb c port, then you can use a thin phone case.
Good to know!
I have the S10+ and a SteamDeck. For the Holster, I have a Razer Kishi. You just got my sub. I realized what the RP3+ was.
Welcome to the channel buddy!
@@TechDweeb thank you.
can i emulate old games?
does this work on iphone 15?
Wish steam link can use gryo controls with a gamepad connected
It's better depending on your use case. I just bought one. So I'm not in a position where I need a full stand alone device that can play AAA games with no internet. BUT I do enjoy playing games in bed now and then. Also for when I'm on the road or on a plane. Local Low end games or retro games are perfectly fine to play for a max of a couple of hours. It's the same reason I sold my Switch. It was almost never mobile and just turned into a youtube machine. Looking forward to playing RE4 remake in bed. Lights off. Cozy mode. But if you're never home and want to AAA obviously the Deck is better
How is your mobile doesn't have black bars ?
Only reason I got a 405M instead of putting it on my phone,is for when I’m at work with no reception.
I can still play the games, with no internet, and not kill my phone battery.
i just sold mine, the deadzones in this controller is just awful.
Oh really? I didn't notice that at all. Maybe you had a bad one?
Did you bother to warn the sucker that bought it from you?.
Hey, Im the buyer, and I demand a partial refund. You never told me the deadzones are bad, Dillon.
Are the gaming pc and phone on same wifi network?
Yup. 5ghz wifi.
Do fps games through steam like have aim assist?
I salute you sir. Love your sense of humor. Great alternative for gamers trying to save money. Don't let the FOMO get to you. If you don't need a Steam Deck, don't get it. However, in case you didn't know, steam also allows your store credit to be used towards the purchase of a Steam Deck.
Thanks buddy! I ALMOST bought one several times throughout the recent sale. Now that it's done I'm glad I didn't 😅
@@TechDweebit’s nice but my ps4 has last of us

How about the GameVice Flex?
That is being slept on very badly.
iOS & Android compatible!
I reached out to the company, if they send me one I'll review it!
Can i stream without internet ( local wifi only ) ?
Yup!
But what if I'm on an airplane without an internet connection? That's where the Steam Deck has been excellent for me.
Totally.
This is actually insanity. I'm totally getting this. Sometimes I just don't want to game sitting on my desk.
I'm with ya.
And once you get drift chuck entire thing in trash.
I've done that many times with many controllers over the years 🤣
Can you stream game pass games through steam link?
Yes! I was playing Baldur's Gate streamed from my PC yesterday.
Only thing I don't like is that I have to take off my phone case to play like this. Good video though!
Just got my Steam Deck from the sale. I do have to say it is pretty sweet from the 2 hours I spent messing with it.
I don't think everyone NEEDS a Deck or anything. But it is pretty incredible, useful, and has so much power. It won't replace my RP3+ or Miyoo Mini, but I am glad I can pick up and play a TON of Steam games from my couch and bed. Hope you get to experience it soon, TD!!
I am glad that Gamesir and other brands are providing other options for handheld gaming though. The handheld and retro gaming markets are in a true Renaissance right now. Glad to be part of the community and always happy to see any TD upload!
Yeah I almost bought a Deck on the sale. I have another mini handheld PC though that I'll be reviewing soon.
@@TechDweeb can't wait!
Huh guess this is similar too the Razer Kishi ?
Might be exactly the same just rebranded too be a Razer product, specially the v2 kishi...
With the Kishi v1 the major issue was a lack of an app too rebind controls & stuff but there's third party ones like mantis gamepad pro which is free, probably works for the gamesir one too.
A website in Sweden has it on sale for 549 sek or 53$ while the gamesir x2 pro is 899 sek or 87 usd here bit of a hard pill for me too swallow for now without a job + I'd rarely use this anyway.
Kishi V2 seems too allow touch only games just fine as well but costs more then the gamesir x2 pro does on the same website.
The Kishi v2 looks like a great device. Plus that one is officially supported in games like Warzone (I think, don't quote me on that).
@@TechDweeb Yeah i wouldn't worry much about that personally.
Mostly PS1, Sega genesis, snes, gba, gb, gbc emulation & steam remote play id be interested in.
Maybe some ports of game engines like RVGL for Re-volt, Xash3d for half-life 1 etc... at the top of my head here at least.
Not in a hurry too set that up though having rebuilt my pc not too long ago.
How do you get dev access on the gamesir app and Vtouch mode ?
I can't remember to be honest, and it's already set up now so I can't redo the setup. But there are some instructions that come up. I think it gives you 3 options. Believe the first option is the one you want (not with a PC or another usb device). I recall something about having to enable dev access, setup permissions, and then making sure the app has 'display over top of other apps' permission, something about needing a code from a notification. Sorry I can't remember more than that, but it's all in the instructions. Just follow them carefully step by step.
Thank you my friend keep up the great videos..
@Jason Matos A quick Google search told me how.
Which app icons you are using on your phone?
Desaturate icon pack (get it from the play store, free)
@@TechDweeb Thanks.
But I'm on Android 13 right now and it's showing that this app was made for an older version of android.
Steam deck is awesome i got min couple weeks ago i was not even expecting a lot but damn i bavent touched my pc since i got it even though the graphics and smoothness on pc is a 100 times better turns out that playing in comfort beats the graphics for me atleast
Wish there was a controller like this that just fit phones with cases.
Some phone cases fit with this one. If you have a thinner style case it should work fine with this.
Why do I feel like someone is trying to sell me something lol
I have that same ipega controller. It's not great, but it does it's job. The sticks are horrible though. They pretty much only go left, right, up, and down.
Yeah it's not bad for the price. Good enough in some circumstances. But it's pretty terrible for actual PC gaming when you need proper analog sticks or triggers.
9:22 can you stream the batocera Hdd games though?
Probably not, but you could stream Retrobat HDD games.
how do i get dweeb UI on my android , i need to know
While this is so good to have AS a Backup! Having the steam deck really is night in day while traveling and also having the ability to just play every console out there is pure, God!
Oh for sure. I don't travel often but when I do I really miss not having a steam deck.
@@TechDweeb gamesir is a purity scummy company they mayed a Nintendo switch emulator by essentially stealing code from an open source project
