Thank you sooooo much for this! I am going to try it. I am sugar-free, so I hope it will work with Swerve confectioners sugar. And I don't keep high-fructose corn syrup in my house, so I will try it with honey. Thanks again so much!! Merry Christmas!
Hello again! I have all of my ingredients except for lemon extract. The only thing I have is pure vanilla extract. Could I substitute with that or can I omit the extract completely? Thank you!
I wouldn't recommend it because the icing dries hard. Plus it's a very thin consistency and would drip off the top of the cupcake. I would go with buttercream instead! :)
@@Owlbbaking - I have a question - you said “leave uncovered while thawing?” I heard that when you froze them (in airtight container), you had to leave them in an airtight container until they thaw (roughly an hour). Will you please clarify?
@@flawlesshoney Sure! So cookies that have been decorated with royal icing will condensate once they've been removed from the freezer. Keeping them covered will allow the water droplets to stay on the cookies longer, which will ruin the finish of the icing (water is royal icing's #1 enemy!) Hope that helps!
It's a little tricky! What I found is 1 pound = 3½ to 4 cups un-sifted powdered sugar, 1 pound = 4½ cups sifted powdered sugar. For this recipe, I don't sift the sugar but I fluff it up a little so it's not packed in the measuring cup. Hope that helps!

I just made these and omggggg I'm so impressed at myself lol thank you for this recipe!!! They did spread just alittle but I still love them 😊❤
If you rested overnight did it still have a crunchy texture or no? 💕
Do you have to use lemon extract? Could you use almond instead?
Yup! Absolutely!
So after you put icing do you just leave the cookies no cover for the icing to harden?
Correct!
So enjoyed this 😁 Thank you for sharing with us. Can't wait to make this 🥰

Hi!!! No worries! I would go with the vanilla! Totally fine to swap that for the lemon!
How many hours will it take for the icing to harden?
How to save leftover royal icing
Can you use this for cupcakes?

Is powdered sugar the same as confectioners sugar ?
Yup! :)
@@Owlbbaking Thank you
How far in advance can you make these cookies?
They will last up to 5 days. The finished cookies can be frozen for up to 3 months (be sure to leave uncovered when thawing)

Can you solve this mystery when measuring powerdered sugar. Is 2 cups = 1 lb?

@@Owlbbaking That’s funny because when I measured out my sugar and then sifted it I said to myself wow -in sifted form it looks so much more
What can we use instead of meringue powder?
Beated egg white??
Has anyone here tried peppermint extract with this icing recipe instead of the lemon?
You did try it? It wasn't overpowering?
