Jordan Peterson is surely reading and understanding the Bible through his fleshly lens of philosophical rationalism, which has him focused on the letter and the law. But he has not yet begun to discover the grace of God; let's hope and pray that he discovers the grace we have in Christ and does not go the way of Cain.

@@williamburroughs2273 Im 100 percent confident he will be in the Kingdom. No doubt Cain believed the message of grace when he was a young lad. Making sacrifices is a fellowship thing not a positional thing. Why would God say this about Cain if he were an unbeliever "15 And the LORD said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him." Or why good God say to an unbeliever 'And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” - Only believers can rule over Sin.
Cain is an example of living unrighteously, He is not however, and example of an unsaved person. You're looking to His works to see whether he is saved but his works only show how he is living, it doesn't show whether He has believed in Christ. I think the evidence points to the fact that Cain was saved.

@@biblestudyisimportant Notice who these instructions are addressed too? - Born again believers. God is warning born again believers not to be like Cain. It's quite possible for believers to be like Cain in their experience and live unrighteously. Nothing in this passage states that Cain was unsaved but quite the opposite as this passage is dealing with believers living unrighteously. If we abide in Christ we will live righteously, If we do not abide in Christ we will live unrighteously and will be of the Devil in our experience.

If you want to know what Matthew 7:21-23 is talking about, you must start at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5. If you read Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7 without stopping, you will see that what Onorato Diamante is teaching is in error.
Below is a short outline of the sections of the Sermon on the Mount.
In Matthew 5:17-19, Messiah tells us that He did not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. And He said that not the smallest stroke of the Law could disappear until heaven and earth disappeared which is the last prophecy to be fulfilled in the Bible. Therefore, we are to keep the Law just as Messiah told us to even after we are saved.
Right after Matthew 5:20, Messiah gives us a better understanding of what some of the commandments mean. And we see how far we have fallen short of being able to keep the Law perfectly.
In Matthew 7:21-23, Messiah is concluding the Sermon on the Mount by giving an example of what so called believers have coming for not doing what Messiah told them to do. Which is keeping the Law of Moses. He did not say they had to keep it perfectly but He did say to keep it and to teach others to keep it.
Below is where I believe Onorato Diamante fits into the Sermon on the Mount.
Onorato Diamante tells you to do the opposite of what Messiah said and takes scripture out of context to try to prove his erroneous teaching. He sure looks like one of the people that Messiah was describing in Matthew 7:21-23. He thinks he is saved but he does not keep the Law of God and teaches others not to keep the Law of God, aka the Law of Moses.
      Shalom

      I am not a liar.
Your reading comprehension skills are lacking. But that is OK. None of us are perfect.
Matthew 7:21-23 is at Messiah's second coming. In those verses, Messiah rejected those who professed to be His because they did not keep the Law. So yes, He is saying to keep the Law even after we are saved.

Did Messiah pay the penalty for my past, present and future sins? Yes He did. I do not need to worry about keeping the Law perfectly. I am not under the penalty of the Law. That is what it means to not be under the Law. The penalty has been taken care of.
But when Messiah comes again, all true believers will be transformed and God's Law will be written on our heart. At that time, I will keep the Law perfectly. Praise God!

Believing Jesus paid your sin debt is step one. Step two is putting your belief into action. The 'fruit' are the things you produce for the Lord: Love, joy, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control (see Galatians 5: 22-23). You produce this 'fruit' inwardly, in your heart, as the Lord changes your personality to conform with the 'image of his Son' (See Romans 8: 29, Colossians 1: 15).

There are so many people who say that believe means to commit. Like a man named Sean @revealing truth on RUclips who shows videos of false teachers and sometimes shares his false gospel. He uses the law like Ray Comfort does, saying almost the same words, I didn't hear him say Repent of your sins instead he quotes John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The this Sean says to believe is to commit.

Peterson believes that salvation is only through true belief, and he's right. I try not to question other Christian's belief, but you can tell those who are just paying lip service by their fruits. They are angry and anxious. Instead of outright accusing them of not genuinely believing, I just try to share with them more of the truth of the gospel in a way that they can understand it. Once understood, belief in the gospel is almost automatic for anyone who WANTS to believe. But it has to be understood through the heart first, not through the mind. Many people struggle to believe because they hear the gospel with their minds, rather than their hearts. You can tell when someone has truly grasped what the gospel is by the enormous sense of RELIEF that they get. Even after I began to believe in God and started reading the Bible, I think it took me a few years before I truly understood the gospel and believed it.

“Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.".

You defined fruits of the spirit as outward profession of what is perceived inwardly. So in essence what people say? In the passages you quoted, the false prophets and the Pharisees are speaking directly to Jesus and that is why I believe you focused on speech and I agree. The false prophets were at judgement and the Pharisees had just finished blaspheming the Holy Spirit initiating their own judgement as well which Jesus expounds upon in the verses. But is that the only way to interpret the meaning of fruit? JP is 100% right that people say what they don’t mean all the time. False prophets also know scripture very well just like the Pharisees. The Bible describes what the fruits of the Spirit are and the descriptions are things that can be spoken and seen. If what people say can be fruit it would follow that what people do can be fruit because what people do is also a result of what they feel inwardly and those are things that will help us recognize false prophets.
And I’m not trying to focus on works. I completely agree that the false prophets were trying to merit their salvation by their works which is why they weren’t saved. I’m more interested in an unbiased Biblical interpretation of “fruit” and if you think my interpretation is fair. Thank you.

Most denominations have a confused understanding of the gospel and that leads them into looking to their ownselves to earn the kingdom. Religion doesnt save faith in christ saves. Can I ask a question? Why use the book of John to show what the "will of the Father" is when we can get the context within the same book (i.e., Matthew)? I could just as easily say the will of the Father is repentance (2 Peter 3:9), abstaining from sexual immorality (1 Thessalonians 4:3), rejoicing always, praying without ceasing, and giving thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18), putting to silence foolish men by doing good (1 Peter 2:15).
I think the answer you're looking for is directly within and after the passage which says, "Not all that say to me, 'Lord, Lord...'" (Matthew 7:21-23).
It's found within verse 23: "ye who practice lawlessness." This couldn't be more clear according to the context. The word in Greek, anomia, which is used for "lawlessness," means "without law; by ignorance or by violating it."
That's important because the answer is also found after that text. The Lord Jesus says in Matthew 7:24, "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them..." The therefore is a summing up of all He just said--which is the Sermon on the Mount. You are lawless if you're hearing Him and not doing what He says. He literally tells you who is wise and who is foolish, those hearing and doing what He says vs those hearing and rejecting what He says.
Instead of running to a Gospel written decades after the one you're trying to prove God's will, why don't you just use the book as the main source of context? The plain reading of the passage is crystal clear.

30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye BELIEVED him not: but the publicans and the harlots BELIEVED him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might BELIEVE him.”

If someone believes in Jesus, they will be convicted (not condemned) to straighten up, but that's not an overnight process, IDC what anyone says. It's a journey. The Holy Spirit will convict you. You won't be able to easily be the old person you once were. You won't be able to talk down to people like you once did. You won't be able to live a selfish, greedy life. You SHOULD show some fruits as you MATURE spiritually IN Christ.
People get all wrapped up in the outward sins (sex, drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.), but they forget about the most dangerous sins.... the inward ones (pride, narcissism, selfishness, hatefulness). Those are the sins that people like Young Don have a hard time seeing. You can lead the most outwardly "holy" life ever, but still be dark and withered on the inside. You can be judgmental and unmerciful.
As far as Jordan? The only reason he says this is because he's noncommittal with the Lord. He's using this as an excuse not to go all in. He wants to keep one foot out in the academic world.
It is gross when Christians don't change, though. If you're a selfish, hateful, judgmental, narcissistic person, I do question whether you've truly met Jesus or not. Saying it is one thing, but living it is another. I'm not bothered by the outward sins nearly as much as the ones Jesus railed against when talking to the Pharisees.
P.S. everything isn't about our little personal journey to heaven when we die. We are God's proxy on this earth and we should be showing Christ to people through our lives while here, trying our best to make this place better. People get so wrapped up in heaven, they forget that God gave them this life, here and now.

You would be grateful right, you would not want to turn around and punch him in the face. Same thing with Jesus, he saved us from eternal punishment, you would not want to figuratively punch him in the face by still deliberately sinning. You see in this illustration that you would not want to do good things for the fireman to save you, but because he DID ALREADY save you. Thus you cannot be unsaved or go back into the building that is already collapsed. You cannot be unborn and lose the Holy Spirit. If a professing Christian gives in and takes the mark of the beast out of peer pressure and fear, wouldn't that be an example of a believer losing their salvation? To be clear, I believe in once saved always saved, this scenario just came to my mind one day.

That's if the church was going through the tribulation. Unfortunately, no saved believer (Christian) will ever go through the tribunalation, because it is not appointed to wrath but will be caught up to Heaven. You'll notice the last time church is mentioned in the Bible is in Revelation 3, before Jesus calls us up in Revelation 4:1. After that, they are called tribulation saints.
Those that have to deal with the Mark of the Beast are the tribulation saints. These consist first and foremost, of 144,000 virgin Jewish men who will preach to the entire world. Then those that see the signs and wonders and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and have the faith of Jesus Christ AND keep the commandments.
      ‭Revelation 12:17 KJV‬
[17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
We are not the tribulation saints. We have to rightly divide the Bible, and render unto the correct group, the correct doctrine.
      ‭2 Timothy 2:15 KJV‬
[15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
I also hope you notice that your Bible may not say the same thing as the above verse. I'll just say that Satan may not want a believer to know how to study the Word of God, because then he can't deceive them anymore.

This is reminiscent of Matthew chapter 7, where Jesus professes “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Despite their “many wonderful works” done in the name of Christ, they are condemned as workers of iniquity and commanded to “depart”. Why? Because without faith it is impossible to please God. Not because they were without righteous deeds, relatively speaking, but because they were without the righteousness of Christ, and they were without the righteousness of Christ because they never did the will of the Father, which is to believe on the Son.
      John 6:40,
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
In order to properly understand this passage, we must “rightly divide” between descriptive and prescriptive. In other words, the collective commendation of the sheep regarding their works, does not mean that the sheep were saved by their works.
      Ephesians 2:8-9 says,
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Likewise, the collective condemnation of the goats does not signify that they were unsaved due to their failure to do good works.
This passage is simply highlighting the stark contrast between the inevitable future of these two groups. Due to their standing before God, the children of God can only be commended and the children of wrath can only be condemned.

GOD (JESUS ) requires that all men in adam believe the message of the gospel , which is the good news for anyone who first admits they are a sinner, and recognizes that Jesus is God, Jesus is the son of God sent to dwell among us, and from birth (of a virgin) to death committed no sin (thus filfilling all the requirements of the law ) and in death (on the cross) became sin on our behalf to save us from condemnation, Rose again from death unto life. And freed us from enslavement to sin. Once this message is believed, God then gives that person a measure of Faith (trust in God) which is the gift of God. Through this Faith (trust in Jesus) God grants them salvation by His grace, and as he calls upon the lord to save him/her. At this point God makes them born again- by removing the old heart of stone and replacing with a new heart of flesh, which is obedient, with new desires and an undying love for jesus.
    (Eph 2:8-9, Romans 6:17, Ezekiel 36:26, Romans 12:3 ,
    2 Corinthians 5:17and 21, Romans 10:10)
This is accomplished by belief in the message, which transitions then into faith alone (given by God as a gift) in Christ alone. God then does the rest by grace.

Iniquity is lawlessness. The only 2 times Jesus is asked how to obtain eternal life he told people to obey the commandments. To believe on the one he sent means to believe all the red letters not just pick and choose what suits. He is the prophet promised in Deuteronomy 18 and he taught the same commandments that he gave to Moses on Mt Sinai. Jordan Peterson at least understands that to believe is to receive his words and do what he taught us. 2 billion + Christians claim to love him but don't.
1 John 2:3-4 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we guard his commandments. He that says, I know him, and guards not his commandments, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him.
John 14:15-16 If ye love me, guard my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
That's the answer to how we know him. Matthew 5 read it too he says to observe what the Pharisees taught which was Torah and not to do what they did which was disobey Torah and follow their own religions laws.
All the Torah applies but not all is applicable to us as individuals. If you're a child of The Most High you'll see what is for you and try your best to obey them. Satan has infiltrated the churches and teaches apostasy and believers think that Gods instructions don't apply to them they're for somebody else.
Revelation 12:17 Commandments of God and testimony of Jesus. Commandments of God are in the OT and the testimony is in the NT we need both. There's only 2 sides that's it. Can't just use Paul's writings and then disregard everyone else. The whole book applies , and many doesn't over rule TMH Yah when it comes to what he expects from us for us to receive the free gift of salvation.

What about James 2:17? What about Ephesians 2:10?
As a personal trainer, many come to me believing in me that I will bring them results. It's a good thing that they have put their trust on me to do my job. They even believe that by eating healthy, being consistent and disciplined and comitted, they will have the results they want. The belief is there, the faith ia there, but not the works because they don't do what I tell them to do. They keep doing the same thing as they have always have done and they are the clients that have the least results.
True saving faith it is shown by works.

Believing on Christ is more than thinking that Christ existed for even the devils believe. Believing means to embrace the principles of Christ and to become dependent on living by them and also trusting in the redemptive work of the Cross for the atonement of sin. To believe in Christ is also to abide in relationship by means of the indwelling Holy Spirit which is the result of being born again; therefore you will walk in a abiding prayer lifestyle with the anointing and regularly in the Word to renew your mind. As a result of abiding in Christ; if you really are born again of the H.S. you WILL produce the fruit of good works in your conduct or behavior; otherwise you're just playing church service.

People keep misunderstanding this. Having faith in Jesus grants you salvation. BUT
"What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if ou say you have faith bu don't show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and ou say, "Goodbye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well"--but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn't enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless."
    James 2:14-17
Faith alone doesn't get you to heaven. Good works alone don't get you to heaven. The good works that matter are those that are done as a result of your faith and trust in Christ. If your faith doesn't produce good deeds, then it is not genuine, and therefore, will not save you.

We repay Him by helping others, and we do so because we were saved by grace through the Holy Spirit. Not because we feel like we're supposed to, but because through faith we are naturally compelled to do so. That's how you know faith is real and genuine
