As a schizophrenic I can tell you no voice I've ever heard is that of God. The voice of some spirits want you to think they're God but none of them are. God's voice is silent and is heard not in words but the promptings of the heart. Don't be deceived...

That's what everyone has been saying all throughout time pretty much, unfortunately it seems to be more profitable to condition people to abdicate their responsibilities in order to create systems and orders that circumvent a meaningful life which would create no need for proving who you are through optics and Instead serve to strengthen your character and possibly even making life easier for others around you also.

"Make your decisions from a place of consolation, not desolation" has been some of the best advice I've ever heard. The point that so many people miss is thay our conscience must be formed to hear God, just because your conscience says something doesn't mean it's from God. The devil is the father of lies, lies start in our head. So the equivocation of God snd conscience is a very dangerous one.
I agree with you. I understand conscience as meaning the voice of the invidual's spirit, not God the Father's.
Do you feel we can equate the voice that tempts us to rationalize as being that of the adversary, and the voice that prompts us to do harder, less desirable things (like forgiveness) as that of God?
I particularly like the comment that the voice we hear knows us better than we know ourselves.
I have to disagree. Deep inside we all know what is right and what is wrong. And you know when the voice of God is the one talking to you or it is that of the devil. It is us that lie to ourselves that the voice we hear is of God because it's saying what we want to hear, it is justifying actions. When you are actually listening to the voice of God what you feel is peace about the decision you're making, I'm not saying it is not scary, I'm just saying it makes you feel at peace with making that decision being a scary decision or not. Scary isn't always bad, scary means you're taking a chance and a lot of good things come from taking chances and risks.
Claiming our conscience is God's voice is a heresy. In 1 John 4 "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God because many false prophets have gone out into the world." How to test? Base on the bible. If it follows the scriptures, then it is from God. Also, we do not trust how we "feel" when we decide what to do. Because feelings are from the flesh. All the principles are written in the Bible.
@@virginiatushman3240 I agree with you. There is a difference between feelings of the flesh and spiritual manifestations from the Godhead. In my experience the difference is unmistakable. These manifestations only come after acting in faith on the word of God.

I was in a meditation and prayer room today. There were people gathered eating and chatting turning it into their personal lounge room. I asked them to please keep their voices down, I'm trying to listen to God but I'm listening to them. Gods voice is not our consciousness, gods voice is supraconcious. It transcends the normal voice in our head, it is the voice of creation, love, unity, and without ego. When you hear the voice of God you will dissolve yourself as you realize you are no one. My life will wash away, but God will remain.
They have no idea how right they are. I have always ignored this voice and IT IS ALWAYS THERE. And this voice will always seek what is best for you unconditionally. Even I have to admit, if that isn't God, I don't know what is. You cant shut it up, you cant do nothing. Like JP said, you cannot control it. Which further explains that it is God's Voice

The problem I find with calling the conscience of a man "The voice of God" is that Proverbs teaches us that "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is a way to death." I think the existence of conscience is a key attribute that we are made in the image of God, but that even conscience is corrupt and in need of redeeming. Look at the great many evils committed in the pursuit of "the greater good" as evidence of that. Listening to one's conscience may very well lead them down the path of what "seems right to a man" and straight into spiritual death. I think that if there is in fact a transcendent God that it is more likely that his voice is literally his voice speaking from the outside-in and not an internal driver that is innate to our creation. Because some people wake up at 3am and talk themselves into evil in the name of wanting to do good.

I think of hearing the voice of God in reference to when someone flashes their lights at you at night on a bumpy, hilly road. When you're driving at night and perceive a car's headlights flashing behind you on a bumpy, hilly road, you think they're signaling something to you, but then you see it happening over and over again and realize it's just the lights themselves moving slightly up and down in relation to the bumps and thus seeming to be brighter and dimmer over and over from your line of sight. However, when someone really does flash their brights at you, it's very obvious at night. Once that happens, you know the difference between when it's just your perception of someone flashing them versus them really flashing them. I heard voices or sounds throughout my life, but one day I heard a voice--toneless, infinite in authority, and like thunder without making a sound--saying to me, "Read my word." Ever since that day, I knew the difference between the sounds/noise and His actual voice. Once you hear it, you know it.
As testimony you will know without a doubt when it is God's voice because it is a booming yet silent multidimensional thought that is not telepathy, not internal monologue and not hearing voices. I have been blessed enough to experience them all and been able to discern the difference between them all. When god spoke to me he simply said truth, but it felt like we had a full question answer conversation in a single word. Many thanks gentlemen

This is why it's so important to be born again, as Jesus said: "do not be surprised that I say you must be born again." The Bible also refers to it as being born from above, or as Jesus described: you must be born of water and the Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God.

I've thought of this often. If God doesn't exist, then everything you consider God to be is just internal phenomena. If God speaks to you, who's doing the speaking? Its not that it isn't real, or that you haven't been spoken to, but that its not God, it is your subconscious.
God works in mysterious ways? Your MIND works in mysterious ways.
I love these conversations with Jordan because it brings up the psychological aspect of Christianity (or faith in general for that matter) that I find so interesting.

So if your conscience is gods voice the. Where was his voice in people who hurt others who never had a conscience to begin with people that are just animalistic. Plenty of serial killers who had no morals no values no principles no conscience. You could say they never invited god in but we are all born without the knowledge of god and if there was no technology to introduce us to him how would we reach him then?

Fun fact the Japanese used to believe that the soul was in the stomach and as anyone who has ever really regretted something knows the gut and the conscious seem to be intwind... But trusting your gut can also be deception from the enemy as it is emotionally driven.

I have often contemplated if the word from God eminates from your conscience within that everyone possesses.
The promptings of the heart could be any number of things- from past memories, current mood, your education, wish fulfillment, friend influences, etc. No one whatsoever can correctly label that any prompting is from God. That would not only be completely impossible to confirm; but more importantly, it would be a potentially very dangerous belief to hold.

In this 2024 there are people so self-absorved that they have no time to feel . They can be completely unconscious and with no remorse at all. It seems they have no conscience and they cant listen to that "inner voice" that tells you that refusing other honest love and honest caring in pursuit of only self admiration and self achievements (no matter what) is a big mistake. If you don´t listen that "inner voice" (your conscious) you slowly turn yourself into a soulless person. No conscious, no Soul.

The pineal gland is a receiver of frequencies, in fact there have been studies done that show that the brain is able to interpret all sorts of frequencies that go by unseen and unnoticed. You don’t hear them, but the brain interprets them. Sometimes you can hear these things if your pineal gland is electrically activated.

Interesting concept of hearing god’s voice. One needs quiet to do this to quell the inputs all around. A.G. Sertillanges wrote the need for quiet to ascertain truth in his book, “The Intellectual Life”. But, is it not our true inner voice, how we feel about ourselves and our relationships with others where truth lays and the "Golden Rule” emerges. Quiet is needed ot get in touch with our inner thoughts, our moral baseline. If one queries Steven Pinker, Charles Murray and Ian Robertson, our moral baseline comes from our DNA which over millions of years has imprinted behaviors to ensure survival of the species. Those behaviors include cooperative survival, market-based sharing of unique skill sets and viewing others as companions not competitors.
To me it means…. Atheist can have morals. Natural law and a conscience

I think that's the biggest thing about the "judge" personification. The devil will tell you exactly what you want to hear and agree with the horrible things you do. God is willing to tell you No and call you out.
I think that's what Jordan meant when he said "try to control it". If it's really your conscience then it will be willing to disagree with you.
An exception might be sociopaths who sleep like a baby after manipulating someone/something for their own instrumental gain. Their guilty conscience won't awaken them abruptly at 3 AM if they don't have a strand of moral fiber in their being.

When you find God's voice, it won't be mistaken , it will be as clear as your mother calling your name in a noisey crowd . The development of your mind and conditioning of your heart will grant you intuitiveness beyond words but even in action.
Could be a subtle movement that saves your life or someone else's.
It came come it the form of a random sense of explanatory power to stranger that changes their lives for ever. You may never even know when God acts upon or moves through you but when you do know ,I mean you really know when the holy spirit is at work or when God is stern with you .

Mere speculation. I would have to experience it for myself. Someone else’s experience isn’t good enough. I’ve felt my own conscience try to tell me something was wrong when it clearly wasn’t. How do you account for that? At the end of the day we humans merely speculate, cogitate, theorize a lot, but we don’t actually know the true reality of our existence as conscious beings. The only time you’ll know what life truly is, is when you die.
What you are not getting, is when God is calling you to the opposite and you refuse to go or address it.
