The day after I found you on RUclips and I binged almost all of your videos and i have beared my cross every damn day since. I've come so far and I have you to thank for helping me find my way. @@Seasonednuts Suffering is how we learn & grow. If you don’t experience pain, for instance if you burn your finger, you may not understand how dangerous, damaging, painful fire is! You fear the unknown! You fear that which has already harmed you, or that which threatens to harm you!
I’m homeless, jobless and no vehicle at the moment… on the 18th of this month is one year that I lost my mother, but I have so much peace, I have a good heart and a great mind… I have stayed faithful… I once thought that losing my home and having no money would be my worst nightmare but now I would give it up in a heart beat to keep the peace I have now, my worst fear now would be to lose my peace and love that Christ gives me, I pray you all including myself that peace comes to us, that love comes to us, I thank the ones that read this i pray we all find our paths and our purpose in this life.
“Peace” and “Contentment” are the goals of the human mind. You have grace, dignity and integrity when suffering does not make you bitter. You have accomplished something great!!
I feel like I'm witnessing the birth of the Second Renaissance/Enlightenment when I hear this sort of discourse. Which is, to my delight, very much appreciated by the audience both at the event and here on youtube.
Me too - especially since when the Internet started, i hoped that it would be (a new era of Enlightenment )....and was subsequently disappointed to see the opposite in so many ways (e.g. strangers fighting, online bullying & the birth of the toxic woke agenda)... If this is _'...the Second Renaissance/Enlightenment...',_ then YAY!
A second enlightenment would be the refutation of the first, since why would you have a second "philisophical revolution" if the first was enough. The enlightenment did away with the idea of evil, and promoted 'the self' as the greatest good. Hopefully a second enlightenment would reintroduce it.

I am a 51 year old man. I lost my mom from breast cancer when I was just seven. Years later I lost my Dad in 2000. It's been 23 years and yet it feels like just yesterday. Through all this I have never truly lost my faith. I have strayed many times with alcohol and drugs but I overcame these addictions and temptations through the grace of God. I have been through many struggles in my life and through it all my faith only becomes stronger. One thing that I have always known as a Christian is that being Christian and believing in God doesn't mean that your life will somehow be without pain and suffering. I've noticed that some people think that is what Christians believe. Jesus suffered more then any of us could ever imagine. From the time of His birth till His crucifixion He was wanted dead. The suffering that we go through in our lives helps us to understand if even just a little bit what Jesus our Savior went through and brings us closer to our Lord! Sorry for the long comment. I just felt the need to share this.
Thanks for sharing and I am so sorry for the loss you’ve suffered. I too lost my mum, 2 years ago. She was beaten to death by a boyfriend. I lost faith in everything the day that happened. I’ve since had my first child and looking at him and how innocent and beautiful he is I can’t help but think there is something after this life. The happiness I feel for him is equal to the pain I have from what happened so I guess I’m confused to say the least
Your comment is absolute truth! Sorry for your struggle . You overcame the hardships wholly attributed to your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his Father the Almighty God! He has equipped you with tools to beat all odds.
God bless and give you strength, healing, good success in conquering your addiction and great joy, all this I pray in Jesus' holy and Mighty Name, Amen and Amen! My dad was a drug addict. Forgive yourself, please.
Me as well. The serpent is in the drugs. I was an addict until I literally fell on the floor and begged Jesus to take it from me. He did and I was going to 3 meetings a day and couldn’t stay sober. It’s been years now and I praise Jesus for His sacrifice and thank Him for saving me!! 🙏❤️✝️🕊
Btw, the serpent is in your heart UNTIL you accept Jesus. Then He gives you the Holy Spirit and you will change. I have no more guilt or shame from my past which is what caused me to keep using. God bless. READ YOUR BIBLES.
@@nothingbutthetruth3227 I could be wrong but I'd say that the drugs aren't the serpent. Just as a rifle, a medicine, a book, a fishing rod are neither good or bad on their own, and require someone to do something with them to be so, drugs are just chemicals. I'm an addict myself, and for me at least like lots of others, by the time we hit a point where we start using, we've already been on that road for a long time. In my life the serpent is and was my own will, my trauma, my defects. Those are the serpent and the drugs were the conversation with it, if you will. It was going to manipulate and convince and bite me regardless, and substances were just the specific way in which is happened. As addicts if we stop using, we've only addressed a tiny portion of the problem, and we'll never get better if that's all we do. Honesty, charity, community, and surrender are what get us through. Again this is just my perspective, and my experience. I wish you and mr Cohen up there the best, thanks for mentioning your experiences : )
I will never stop commenting on Jordan's videos that he is the reason I chose to have a family. It was the best decision of my life. His father and I watch you often. We look to you as a true philosopher and great thinker of our time. We are so happy you are well. Canada needs you now.
They’re currently trying to put an end to his work. The board of psychologists have put him in “media retraining” for an unnamed amount of time, for which he’s paying $225/ hr for, and at the “end” (whatever that may be), they will decide if he’s learned enough to keep his license to practice.
Admittedly I have stopped listening to Jordan as regularly and with the same enthusiasm that I did a few years ago. This video has reminded me of why I became such a big fan. I am a highly open person who grew up in a secular non religious environment with Christianity somewhat there but mostly at a distance. I’m still amazed by how this information cuts through and holds such weight for me. I believe Jordan’s talks have been a bridge for many like me who would not have been receptive to Christianity to this degree otherwise. Having dealt with some malevolence and a lot of suffering in the last few years, I don’t know if I would still be here if it weren’t for some understanding of this. It really does seem like the only path that makes sense. Thank you.

Dr. Peterson’s brilliance is astounding. The depth of it is propelled by his humility. Keep travelling, brother. What's on the other side is worth the journey. I am right there with you on this journey through the desert and we have thousands, if not millions, of people to walk that journey with us. You are always loved, regardless of your past. I'm learning these lessons too.
Brad, it remains true that the equipment needed to have a real, ordinary life does not include alcohol or drugs. The question remains, what do you value more ? I pray you will feel God’s peace as you take one day at a time.

I came to faith in 84, spent lot of years in various churches and am currently in a Methodist church in our small town, having lost my wife of 36 years to twenty years of multiple sclerosis three years ago. I heard this pastor in a park celebration a year ago and have come out of a long desert. I believe you will walk out in your time. Tell me why is it that, if God is good, why is there evil if he created everything? Why do we suffer disease, misfortune and such horrible health problems at birth even if God loves us all ? A common argument to our suffering I heard is because God gave us freedom, but giving us freedom and allowing us to succumb to evil is like allowing a child do what it wants and not teach it anything

We are not a mixed race, and we do not want to become a mixed race either. While the Western Europeans are mixing with non-Europeans, we do not want our color, traditions and culture to be mixed with of those others. We want to be how we became 1100 years ago here in the Carpathian Basin. We will be able to maintain Hungary's biological future without migrants
I get where you’re coming from a persevering perspective. But talking about securing a biological future? No offense, but I’m personally perceiving major aryan-race type facism in that statement. (Observe “statement”, not judging you as a person, but rather the way said statement can be perceived). Try adopting the concept of putting yourself in other’s shoes (empathy) and looking through someone else’s eyes, no matter the ethnicity and nationality. But rather on content of character. I’m sure it would do everyone in the world better if we all did. Because in order to reach the ultimate goal in creating a better world we need to be able to logically discuss and empathetically understand each other. Anyhow. Take care my friend! Hope this message broaden your horizons a little, or at the very least got you thinking. Much love and respect. Hope you have a wonderful life. :) (Same for anyone who reads this). :)
I'll be 70 this year. Looking back at lived life, I find that the things we really value were the times of sacrifice and suffering. Carrying responsibility, not shirking duty, these were, and are, valuable when looking in retrospect. We have divine design to be doers, to carry the load, to not be weak, but strong. I tried to take a month off at a condo on the coast. I could not make it but 3 weeks, I was dying of leisure and boredom. We aren't designed for doing nothing but leisure. Dr. Peterson has helped me so much in this area, to keep going, people are counting on me to not quit and just sit on the porch and watch the birds. I'm trying to carry as much responsibility as I can bear. I need that.
Years ago, a friend told me that I needed to "stop and smell the flowers." One morning I tried it and couldn't make it for an hour. I have no problem with smelling flowers, but I don't like the concept of "stop." So boring and purposeless! I'm 70 too, and it is wonderful to take times of "rest" as needed, or just sit in the beautiful garden I have worked to create (!) and soak in peace and nature. However, our lives need to be purposeful and meaningful, or we are just ... inert. What a curse that would be!
Although that personality is not rare, I would count it lucky. I don't see one type as good or bad. It really does take all types. If not for those who stopped to look and record the things that were happening instead of participating, we wouldn't know our past. So I always liked the way the Japanese considered all life. As a balance of all things. Congratulations on 70 years of life my friend.
Congratulations on making it to 70! Leisure and Boredom are things that practically mean you are dead in some way for sure... but everyone must employee their resources given to them at their disposal as much as they can, that is the better approach to life in my opinion no matter the age. With aging you are just a little less capable than you used to be and that doesn't mean you should ignore what other things you are still able to do with what is left with you and start acting like all is over... absolute comfort can never be the answer
I’m sorry Jordan Peterson. For my privilege. I am dedicating my life to doing good and doing better for my self, my God, my wife and my family, and for society. Thank you Jordan Peterson. Many people don’t understand why you were holding those emotions back but I do. And I am sorry sir. Thank you for communicating a message to the world that so many people needed to hear, and learn, accept, and apply to their lives. Because knowledge isn’t power alone in of itself. Applied knowledge is power and being you’ve equipped me with the right knowledge now that I know better I will do better and be better for me. Thank you sir. Hope people learn these valuable lessons you’re teaching us.
it seems he wants to rely on himself except the Christ. And that path leads to nowehere. I was kinda appalled how much they give agenda to humans instead of relying on Jesus.
I disagree with this sentiment (although I can see the point he was getting at). This would imply people who do not have a relationship with Christ are not able to see Christ in other people. Just as his anecdote with the nurse and colleague who noticed something different about the way she did her job, so do people who do not know Christ discern something different about people who have a relationship with Him, and are actively living it out. This is also evident in the Bible when people gathered around Jesus because they knew there was something "different" about Him. Just because you don't have a characteristic/trait etc., doesn't mean you can't notice it in others.
@@tacticalturtle7469 I don't think that's what he meant by "see Christ in other people." You're interpreting it as something like "see Christ-like behavior in others," but I think he means something along the lines of "see the incarnate image of God in others."
When I was in a very difficult situation. My husband was terribly ill and had become tyrannical. Instead of feeling self pity I knelt in tears invocating the Holy Spirit for help. It was amazing how we both changed. We felt God’s love among us.
Best thing I ever heard concerning marriage? There needs to be three in every marriage. The two people and God. If there aren't those three, it can't make it. It takes you, your husband , and God.
When I got married I was very young and neieve I had come from a background of deceit and physical harm, sexually abuse. My husband had never experienced any problems of that sort. Sadly we grow the most in suffering. My daughter was diagnosed for a severe form autism. Before her diagnosis I was crying out to God, fasting and praying profusely. (4) "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." (5) "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." (6) "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Jesus is our righteousness. He answers the heart cry of the psalmist. Let go of the weight. Hand it to Jesus and let him carry your burden. Do something nice for someone else today and don't get caught doing it. There is nobility in such things.
You are not alone my friend. Whatever the reason for not being in a good place, Christ is always here. Consider it Joy when you face challenges of any kind. When you face the dragons of your life, face them with courage, dignity, and gratitude for breath in your lungs. It is possible to face them in this manner, and that’s not easy by any means. We are all flawed and we don’t deserve the love and grace of God, and yet he loves us anyway. He loves us enough to watch his perfect son experience suffering for us. Keep carrying that cross, do it willingly like Christ. Encourage others to do the same and know that Christ is with you always. We can never repay the grace that has been given, but do your best to live for Christ. Doing so is the closest thing we can get to deserve to be told “Everything will be ok”.
I absolutely love how this man instead of forcing religion at people and telling them to believe he uses religion as a tool of thought and improvement. I don’t think this stuff would hit me so hard if it weren’t so analytical about the effects of having a higher power of some kind. Thank you man.
@@NigelingTon no. It’s a call to a relationship with God. You can see how God interacts and loves and calls out to man. To remove God from the equation but use His words to your end will inevitably lead to nought. All you will have are pseudo-religious bigots who think they are “good” without the groundbreaking, heart wrenching work that God needs to do in our hearts. This cannot be done without a relationship with God. The same bible says, Jer 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” It kind of follows from the fact that “There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.” Ecc 7:20 You can’t trust your heart for guidance (and pick and choose what you want to believe about God or the bible) as it will deceive you into wanting things which are ultimately not good. Hence defeating the point to which you started looking into the bible in the first place. There is a supernatural factor that went into the making of the Bible. Which is why it’s so powerful, so applicable, so compelling. Why settle for the scraps when you can get to know the one who said it all?

So absolutely joyful to see a “normal” audience , good people. Jordan deserves such ovations and respect he does God inspired work for the universe. His teachings formed a dimension not filled before in modern times and is certainly the atheists greatest enemy. What a blessed soul. The work he does to naturalise or normalise the word of God just fills the gap and a clear indication to me that we are living in the end times.
I know that Dr Peterson in recent times has gotten closer to his Christian faith but I truly believe that he has a balance of religious and secular that he can never shake. for those of us who don't subscribe to the religious, he makes the religious so much more palatable and respectable. perhaps he is your god's sneaky tool to spread this gospel :-)
@@ledaswan5990 Sorry to comment. Do you believe in Father Sky like the Navajo's? That's the native culture I'm most familiar with growing up my traditional native friends. I ain't a Christian but it seems you can track the beliefs of Christians all the way back to the Sky Father in the Indo European cultures and many older cultures beyond that to sun cults and the like. All these cultures seem to have some sort of Father Sky.
Well, have a look into this piece of work, it may not be like anything you have read before. It's called: "e risale english". Just write this in a search and it pops up at the top of your search. The book itself is called The Words. It's interesting and a bit mysterious...
@@ledaswan5990 “as a native american I find it insulting” It seems like it. Of course their have been nad injustices done to indigenous people but You have pissed your brains with alcohol instead of standing up and get on with life. The fact that you as a group are basically fading from the earth is the very fact that you believe in other demonic spirits that just like in africa and elsewhere caused the lack of drive to stop looking for excuses and take responsibilities for your actions. The development of this earth would not have been possible without the truth of the bible. Of course there has been atrocities done with the bible under the arm but if the mug has a crack and the water runs out dont blame the water. You can feel insulted as you wish its not going to help you and your group.
Thank You. For guiding lost souls back towards the light For helping those in despair to find meaning again For helping those who've lost faith in humanity - those lost in hatred - to Love again For leading the prodigal sons and daughters of this world back to their Father And for bridging the gap between science and religion/spirituality, just like the great Carl Jung before you, to show that they are ultimately one and the same. You are indeed a warrior of Love and Truth, And a true blessing to this world. May Allah bless you, and give you courage, strength, and good health to continue with your work. ❤
Since age 29, as a result of severe injuries, I’ve lived with intense pain, now 31 years. At first i struggled to understand its purpose. There were many times early on i resolved to end my life. Everyday it is present and intense. Every night i lay hoping not to wake. But God has given me a gift that i cannot give back, cannot reject which has lead me only to embrace it. The doctors said i would change. They said my wife and family would leave me. I have changed but it has brought us so much closer. God is the mediator of suffering for His most stubborn children that can seemingly ONLY see His love, light and presence of the Divine through the lens of intense ire changing pain. Yes, there are snakes..they are always there..but this was the greatest most liberating gift that God could ever have given me.
I live with a debilitating, torturous nerve disorder. It’s been 15 years now. I can only hope to reach the same point that you have because at this point, it’s impossible for me to call it a gift.
I enjoy listening to this man because he doesn’t water anything down, doesn’t sugar coat it but lays it at you with wisdom. I like how his suffering has helped him be better and wants others to be better instead of the usual victim mentality route.
Thank you Jordan Peterson, I had everything I ever wanted but everything means nothing without Christ, thank you for helping me read and respect the Holy Scriptures.
There historically are many unnecessary hoops, hurdles, add-on's and counterfeits that Catholicism has that Christian faiths don't (ie, baptism, Pentecostalism). I understand why people leave catholicism, but I don't understand how they can leave Christ. The driving force to heaven shouldn't be through church or religion, but Christ himself who frees us from destructive sin. Many people have turned away from Christ because of the horrible things done through the catholic church, including those in my own family. But taking them out of that system allows them to focus on Christ alone. Hope you're doing better mate, looking for truth, freedom and liberty in Christ :-)
@@Trenasist I'm not sure how anyone can use baptism as an example of an "add on." It's one of the few things clearly there from the beginning. Also, people leave all Christian faiths due to hypocrisy of its members.
@@Trenasist By "Focusing on Christ alone," I assume you mean just reading scripture and "interpreting" it yourself. That's the Protestant heresy of "Sola scriptura", which assumes that a regular layman can come to know the "Truth", just by reading his Bible. (Anything can be an idol, depending on how you use it, including the Bible.) The Real truth is that there is no way to "interpret" scripture, except through the proper philosophical mindset and discipline, as well as a deep knowledge of All of scripture; not just parts of it. That's why educated church authorities are necessary. ANY interpretation entails an over-arching ethical framework or bias. There is no getting away from that, no matter your denomination. The Catholic Church derives its interpretations from the thoughts and knowledge and traditions of the actual Church Fathers, who date back to the early first millennium. Who is more trustworthy? An educated Christian who lived no more than a handful of generations away from the time of Christ? Or Martin Luther, who was known to have a problem with scrupulosity, and promoted the practice of Picking and Choosing what parts of scripture to adhere to, and how to interpret them. No room for any authority or standard deriving directly from early Church tradition. That's dangerous, if you care at all about your eternal salvation. Just look at how many Protestant denominations have sprouted up in the last 500 years. They've taken the teachings of Christ and scattered them to the wind. And as for the "horrible things" the Catholic Church has done; no true Catholic is under any delusions that the Church is perfect. It's an institution run by fallen mortal men, like any other. But nonetheless, it was appointed by Christ himself, through Saint Peter. Like it or not, the Church is Christ's representative on this fallen Earth. We must respect the office, even if we don't always respect those who hold it. You may not like the current US President, for instance, but you still need to respect the office. Same deal with the Church. The important thing is to understand Catholic teaching according to what the Church fathers and the saints taught, and to not merely go by what some current or recent bad actors might have done, including those who may be in your own family. Also, those so-called "unnecessary hoops, hurdles, add-on's and counterfeits" are in fact useful tools and disciplines, which are grounded in early Church tradition if not necessarily in scripture, that help us to grow in holiness, and to live according to the Grace of Christ. That needs to be born out in our moral actions in life. Protestants "protest" this, saying "works don't matter", and "Christ alone" brings salvation. But the truth there is that ANYone can "say" they believe and accept Christ. Anyone can merely think that. But if our words and our thoughts say one thing, and our actions say another, which are we to believe? Which is Christ to believe? Words are cheap. And actions speak louder than words, as the adage goes. "You will know them by their fruits" (i.e. works). Dr. Peterson would put it, belief is something you act out; not merely say. And most of us are so fallen that we can't hope to be "perfect" in our actions. Christ's perfection is like an eternally receding horizon. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try, and show our commitment by our sincere actions and holy disciplines. Matthew, Chapter 7: 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ I sincerely hope that will not include you. I hope you will learn to stop listening to Satan's deceptions, and one day return to the Truth Faith. I will pray for you. ;-)
Nowhere did I say baptism was an add-on. It is at the least, a declaration of faith. You don't need to be baptised to be saved. And of course members fall out of church. One of the main things that Jesus warned us about was hypocrisy, which is extremely important to address these days
"If you get people to voluntarily confront what makes them afraid and what makes them want to avoid, then they get better. It's curative. That's the message there: If something is terrifying you, pay more attention to it." That has certainly helped in my life! Thank you so much, sir.
Sometimes it’s not possible to confront what makes you afraid.. bcoz you know if you confront it... it’s just going to be worse.. confrontation might work with a fear of many many things.. like a boss or water or whatever... but sometimes the person that is making you afraid... does not care nor wld they listen.. so you just leave it! I think Jordan s an extraordinary human and I love him very much.. but unfortunately he cannot solve everything.. but he sure does try!!
@@stormygayle9388 well then you confront not to get your own way, you don't always confront what makes you afraid you also confront the potential in things! That's one of things he's always said you confront existence to confront the possibilities within it! So you confront the person , and btw confront doesn't always have to be am aggressive move confronting a toxic person could be having the honest conversation you're too afraid too. And in that what you do is let the person know of what you feel and what you intent to do, so then the person has to decide to accept their shortcomings and change or continue on that path and in some sense we're morally obligated to do that because why wouldn't you give someone a second chance ? What's the case for it ? If a bitter person make your life hell its not that they are walking towards paradise they are deeper in hell than you are. And so you confront them because your feelings matters sure, but also if by some wild chance that's what makes them stop and change and it is possible however unlikely it seems than that's the grace you bestow upon them.
It still stuns me how one person can impact a generation (multiple in my family, thank God). I am now 64, have lead a Christ-centered life, I don’t have too many regrets. But when Jordan Peterson came into my realm of influence, the wounds I had inside of me of being parentless, (emotionally speaking) and the trauma of abuse are somehow being addressed. His wisdom is the mother and father I never had. Even though he’s not a preacher, he has enabled me in someway I still haven’t been able to explain even to myself…. he has enabled me to live as a believer more so than I ever have. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Peterson.
Blessed talk. Thank you father and Dr. Peterson. Coming from Lebanon I know the meaning of suffering and Christ has been the center of my life and has helped me through with His love and His presence in my life through the Holy Spirit. Because what I went through in life I can love and care for my brothers and sisters. God bless you all.

Keep trying. You can't be better than you are today without effort. Even the smallest improvement is better than none. You are both being, and becoming. You choose who you become. Never stop. Have faith.
You have saved and served me and many young men Mr Jordan Peterson. Responsibility doesn't scare me anymore, but a call to become more of my ideal self.
22:00 - 26:10 is the the first time I've truly understood the story of Christ. Just considering that level of suffering is awe inspiring. 28:55 - 31:20 feels like a very real answer to my own life. Depression, anxiety, self hate, addiction and recovery there from have all hammered me into a very empathic and loving person. What's the alternative? An "easy" life? Why? I've had the opportunity to help hundreds of addicts and alcoholics as a direct result of my suffering. Wishing for an easy life makes no sense. At least now that I know the result. I can approach my current suffering with that in mind. I guess that's faith.

Dear Jordan Peterson, i can see in your eyes and in your face that you have been through a lot of pain, that you know hell very well but you survived... I don't know on what cost but you survived and this is kind of inspirational to know that is possible to survive hell. God bless you and your family!
He’s been through a lot. U can tell in the way he relates. It doesn’t take only high degrees to explain deep existential issues like he does. It takes experiencing them. Jordan experienced very DEEP issues !
@@pickywolf2728 Welp, he's also a clinical psychologist. He has helped many people, talked them out to get on the right track again, he has seen lots and lots of metal problems going from the highest severity to the lowest. This experience (alongside his teacher experience) makes him amazing to hear and gets him a superb control of language.
Just watched this today and prayed again for Dr. Peterson. 🙏🏼 I am so grateful for his work and perseverance in spite of the evil that comes against him. ❤
Jordan Peterson is one of the few who can thread the needle between being a theist and not being a theist while making both groups listen to what he has to say.
He didn't make anyone listen to him. Those who choose to listen do so of their own free will. Also, listening doesn't equate believing everything he says. He actually doesn't know much of anything about the Theology he is trying to wrap his brain around from a materialist sense but it's obvious that he is realizing this ignorance and desires answers. It is incredibly humbling to be so intelligent then realizing that you are so ignorant. How cruel the materialistic philosophy is to those it puffs up with pride only to leave them broken.
I love being Catholic, and I love the work JBP has been doing. Strangely JBP, for what it's worth, helped me return to the Church after 14 years. I had been moved by a number of small realizations that had begun to move me back from my Nihilism. But it was JBP that convinced me that meaning was real. WLC convinced me that Morality was real. And Edward Feser and Catholic Answers convinced me that Catholicism was true. Anyways, JBP changed my life. God bless you Jordan.
Im almost in tears. Listening to Jordan Peterson always brings me back to God. I know he is not talking religiously but his thoughts just bridges the gaps in my understanding of practicality of being a Catholic. God bless you Dr. Peterson. I hope you go to Manila someday.
He is talking religiously - but his role is to take western materialists aetheist so and bolsheviks etc along a path they never acknowledged as Truth….softly softly catch their monkey minds
I'm an atheist and I still enjoy these "from the bible" arguments. I may not believe in God, but I know the values being preached in the bible are still correct and the basis for Western Civilization. Regardless of your religious beliefs (or lack thereof) it remains a very interesting collection of books to study. Sadly it is a rather tedious read with all the repetition (especially in the Old Testament) such as "God said "x" to Moses. Moses goes to someone else and repeats "X" in its entirety, verbatim. Then he goes to the Israelites and relates "x" in its entirety, verbatim... So you've read three pages and only had a single idea conveyed...that's just painful.
@@Darkdaej It's meant to be read aloud (universal literacy is a really recent thing!) In that context, the repetition is helpful to an audience to follow the storyline.
@@dbalgp1047 It actually isn't, not as a whole anyway. Parts perhaps, but certainly not the whole. The Qu'ran however was meant to be recited and transmitted orally.
Hello Jordan! I just want to leave you a note of encouragement. I have been obsessed with your videos ever since I stumbled upon them. You have answered so many questions in my life that have left me so afraid in this world. You are helping me find my voice and my freedom. It’s not a days journey but I have learnt more in less than a month of listening to you speak I literally have no words to thank you but I will continue to pray for you and this ministry of yours! It’s a ray of sunshine in the consuming darkness that is the world we are living in now
What Dr Peterson said in 18:01 spoke to me personally and has opened my eyes to everything I've been facing and trying to run from recently. Thank you Dr Peterson you've saved me today

You help so many people in need of encouragement... I'm one of them.. I was so helpless and lost before discovering you... I started looking into certain topics I thought would help me and your name kept coming up so I decided to watch some videos... Ive now watched most and even some multiple times... Theres no amount of words that could ever thank you Mr. Peterson.. Ive never met you and could go into so much detail but this will likely just pass as another comment.. And thats ok.. If you do read this... Thank you and god bless you sir!
becoming a better person is the most intellectual thing you can do in my opinion so anyone who chooses to listen and improve are very intellectual since they are capable of putting teachings to practice.
Many Catholic Saints have gone through a Dark Night of the Soul and many of them have spent much of their lives in that state. It's a good thing they were Catholic. Just as Paul preached *Christ Crucified,* the Church also preaches *Christ Crucified.* As a Catholic, I always offer up my sufferings and unite them with the sufferings of Christ on the Cross.

I received the Holy Spirit after spending two years living by your advice, Mr Peterson. I was baptised as a child, but didn't really believe, and soon became atheistic, which lasted near enough 20 years. The Holy Spirit entered me one day in bed, shortly after I'd used your advice to finally escape from a bad situation. I thank God for you, Jordan Peterson
Were you baptized Catholic? If so, look to the Church for answers. I hope you didn't leave the Church entirely if indeed you were baptized in the Catholic Church.
So now you believe the bible literally and fundalmentaly? For example, do you believe the Noah's ark / great flood event described on genesis? Or perhaps the miracles in the new testament? Bc Jordan Peterson doesn't.. I'm just wondering if he's the one that got you to Believe in the bible literally. Bc that would be pretty ironic 😂
As someone raised by a narcissistic parent I can say that it is quite possible to take on too much responsibility to the point that it crushes you and it can totally feel like you're doing the right/ethical thing, but you're just wearing yourself out and it's not helping you or them. What I've learned is that the improvement really happens when you take on the correct responsibilities and limit contact with those who just wish to use you.
The gentleman who conducted this interview is one of the most well spoken people I have ever heard speak. Lighting up my Sunday morning here nearly a year after this took place.

This is beyond powerful, I needed this at this very point of my life and I have realized that the way out of suffering is suffering itself and eventually it's the precondition for a good life. The final part sends a signal down to my bone... All I can say is may the blessing of the Lord come upon you Dr Peterson. Thank you. 💙
I have been thankful for my suffering because I believe God wants me to learn something. I have always seek god’s lessons. The is why I have not been stuck in my life. This evolved from 4 years old. Life is so hard, just recently going through a break up with someone I loved so much and I’ve lost so many things. All the things we lose while learning lessons, that’s why it’s important to keep learning and all the while appreciating what we have. Don’t be like me, learn your lesson before it’s too late
I promise it WILL get better. I recommend you do a lot of reading on relationships and marriage. As well as first and foremost pray and talk to God. He's listening. He can hear and see you. He created you. He knows how to fix The problems and heartache we see impossible.
That individual didn't leave you... God moved them. Only the Lord has the blueprint on your character. He knows what He is doing. He will make a way when it doesn't seem as if there is one.
I guess everybody could find at least one theme, one moment, one sentence in this conversation that resonated deeply with them. We are so parched for the truth, for the divine and His relationship with us, broken humans that we soak up every word, every nuance for vital nourishment.

Do u fundalmentaly and literally believe the stories in the Bible? For instance, Noah's ark and the flood? Like do u really think people lived 800 years back then and Noah's family built the ark for every animal to travel there and restart the world ? And the super super fast evolution to get the diversity on earth we see today. It's just hard for me to literally believe many tales / claims in the bible.
Hearing this kind of discussion makes me feel like we're on the verge of a new era of awakening-a modern Renaissance, if you will. It’s inspiring to see that so many others, both at the event and here on RUclips, feel the same way.
One of THE BEST Biblical lectures from JBP. Thanks again, Doc. You're an inspiration and a motivation in the active sense of the word. You inspire people to action. A true activist for the postmodern age.
Thank you, God, for the suffering you allow in my life. Not because it creates resilience, not because it allows me to relate to people, not because it can show me what to avoid, not because I deserve it. Because you allow it in my life. Anything that you allow is something that is good because you *are* Good. I fear You. Amen.

@@thepowerofmyth the literal interpretation is not necessary for the practical belief in God to live the best life you possibly can. That's what I think
@@thepowerofmyth Jesus Christ turn half a dozen loaves of bread and fish into a feast for hundreds of people and then had a surplus of over dozens of bushels and baskets afterward. That seems hilariously plausible by just a minor miracle from God. I think it would be totally possible through God that Noah could make an Ark and for the miracle being that it could house pairs of every animals and Noah’s family for over 6 months. You need to detach from purely logical thought when reading the Bible and understand you’re reading stories that describe human nature, our proclivity for vice and violence, and the interventions of God. The bigger part of the Noah story is that Noah was tasked by God for a seemingly impossible task. The measurements for the Ark are actually well known, and if you look into it, that boat was COLOSSAL. Now that’s some damn suffering to bear, especially when the world is mocking you for building it to begin with.
@@thepowerofmyth as for evolution, I think everyone on the planet has pretty much agreed that evolution exists. It’s not abundantly clear WHEN genesis occurs (the beginning of time is When??) but it seems somewhat likely that God would make creatures in the world that are capable of evolutionary adaptation. Additionally, we’ve actually witnessed evolution directly in the course of single human lifetimes across several species of animals and through different processes. Galapagos finches we’re witnessed crossbreeding with a stray finch species and now a new lineage of finches exists there after several generations of cross/interbreeding that has made them significantly genetically unique. There is a species of Mediterranean lizard that scientists moved several members of to a new isolate island with little to no natural food sources. In less than 20 years they witnessed the biological development of whole new internal organs that enabled those transplanted lizards to digest the plant matter on the island. What the hell else do you make of that except that nature is enduring and can adapt impossibly quickly when push comes to shove.

Through such a discourse of new enlightenment we now appear to have an architecture to call out & confront the malevolent, post modern agenda
@@visionofdisorder Time to reignite the light✌️
A second enlightenment would be the refutation of the first, since why would you have a second "philisophical revolution" if the first was enough. The enlightenment did away with the idea of evil, and promoted 'the self' as the greatest good. Hopefully a second enlightenment would reintroduce it.

Yes. Mine

Me as well. The serpent is in the drugs. I was an addict until I literally fell on the floor and begged Jesus to take it from me. He did and I was going to 3 meetings a day and couldn’t stay sober. It’s been years now and I praise Jesus for His sacrifice and thank Him for saving me!! 🙏❤️✝️🕊

I believe Jordan’s talks have been a bridge for many like me who would not have been receptive to Christianity to this degree otherwise.

Amen
So totally agree with you !!

Golden.
it seems he wants to rely on himself except the Christ.

"When you see people take on more responsobility and decide that they are going to aim up and confront their suffering honestly and forthrightly their lives get better and the lives of people around them get better too. And so that's very strange as well because it also means that the pathway to less suffering is through suffering".

Am I the only one who tears up during portions of almost every Jordan Peterson conversation or lecture I watch or listen to? Thank you Jordan, for sharing wisdom. It's a truly priceless gift.

You're not alone
Because weak 😭😭😭😭
Thanks to all who produced this, the world needs more of this. Well done.
Thank you Dr. Peterson, I’m not in a good place atm but I’m trying to bear the weight of my cross as best I can possibly manage.
Much love for you
Let go of the weight.
Peace to you.
Stay strong, pray for forgiveness and wisdom
I absolutely love how this man instead of forcing religion at people and telling them to believe he uses religion as a tool of thought and improvement. I don’t think this stuff would hit me so hard if it weren’t so analytical about the effects of having a higher power of some kind. Thank you man.
Isn't that what the Bible is supposed to used as? A collection of stories and ideas that help you lead your life?
@@NigelingTon no. It’s a call to a relationship with God. You can see how God interacts and loves and calls out to man. To remove God from the equation but use His words to your end will inevitably lead to nought.
All you will have are pseudo-religious bigots who think they are “good” without the groundbreaking, heart wrenching work that God needs to do in our hearts. This cannot be done without a relationship with God.
The same bible says, Jer 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?”
It kind of follows from the fact that “There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.” Ecc 7:20
You can’t trust your heart for guidance (and pick and choose what you want to believe about God or the bible) as it will deceive you into wanting things which are ultimately not good. Hence defeating the point to which you started looking into the bible in the first place.
There is a supernatural factor that went into the making of the Bible. Which is why it’s so powerful, so applicable, so compelling. Why settle for the scraps when you can get to know the one who said it all?
@@amyqb117 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16,17
@@franmorrison1080 I agree whole-heartedly! All scripture is breathe by God for all these things so that we are equipped for good work. The scripture also commands us to know and love God.
My point was that you CANNOT have the scripture without God. You cannot follow the scripture without obeying God. And to obey God without a relationship with God is utter suffering and basically tyranny.
What is the point of following the instruction of one you do not respect? What is the point of basing your entire life on the words of one you do not love or know?
Better to live as an unbeliever than a "believer" (using the word "as a tool of thought and improvement") but still not know God. I will never "force" the bible or religion down anyone's throat because we would be creating monsters -- Monsters that speak wise words of power and conviction but with a wicked heart.
Those are the same people for which many have condemned Christianity. The crusaders? Roman Catholicism? Colonizers? (not saying they are objectively evil but these always come up in discussions as to why Christianity is "bad")
It's the same "wise" mistake many have made in the past and nothing new --using the things of God without submitting to the authority of God.
I pray that as JP continues to extract richness from the bible, he truly gets to find God. We simply cannot have one without the other unless we seek to remain frauds.
The last 2 discussions you have posted have made a tremendous impression upon me. Thank you so much!

You know, I'm not a Catholic, but hosting Dr. Peterson like this is one of the reasons I really appreciate Catholics.
I'm a catholic and love the often heated and serious (but also rational) discussions, debates and lectures in our parish... the image of Catholicism in society is often so far removed from reality that its unbelievable. We don't spend our time moaning about gays or condemning abortion at every opportunity. We think, philosophise, argue, debate. Our venerated St. Thomas Aquinas said "We must love those whose opinions we share AND those whose opinions we reject, for both have labored in the search for truth, and both have helped us in finding it.
@@buddyschreizerden3611 We have a social culture now steeped in scapegoating -- nothing new for humanity, but it's so huge now, and the values of think, philosophize, and debate are rare indeed. I love Thomas Aquinas! It's all about the search for Truth, and it should be a humble journey. I'm currently in a doctoral program with Liberty University, an evangelical Christian institution, and I have been astounded and impressed by their dedication to mutual respect and the search for truth in our studies; they emphasize over and over that the goal of our research should be the revealing of truth, whether that is comfortable or not! A huge relief from some of the politically charged academic environments I have experienced.
Catholics are inherently hypocrites. They proclaim so much on the moral level, yet embrace the murder of infants as a method of birth control and convenience. Game over. Catholics are a joke. By your own proclamations, none of you are going to Heaven.

The blessing Father Dave gave Jordan at the end was so powerful. After a great discussion of minds he sends him off with a powerful speech that the whole room including Peterson felt in their hearts. That was a beautiful discussion.
We are, and it's incredibly inspiring. James Lindsay did an interesting podcast on New Discourses in which he described how we are in fact in a second Enlightenment as knowledge and authority are being decentralized. JP leaving his professorship and speaking directly to the public is the future of education in the West.

For me the suffering was the catalyst for merging my soul with flesh. I'm in spirit and walk with God everyday. I know Jesus now. I had a beautiful unconditional love fill me and outside of me. Death from my body life is in spirit. It's hard to understand unless you give all of yourself to Jesus he comes to show you. The kingdom is in you. Follow light in the dark . Seek light and thats the path.
Noble indeed. I will always remember the mother in the hospital with her new born baby who was severely disabled. She wasn’t mourning the loss of her healthy baby dream. She was adoring her child and seeing how vulnerable he was and how he needed her. She was on a mission to protect him simply because he needed her. She wasn’t depressed at all.

(Anything can be an idol, depending on how you use it, including the Bible.)
The Real truth is that there is no way to "interpret" scripture, except through the proper philosophical mindset and discipline, as well as a deep knowledge of All of scripture; not just parts of it.
Matthew, Chapter 7:
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
I sincerely hope that will not include you.
You're living proof of the value one individual can bring to the world. Thank you.

Yes. The humility is so rare to see.
Its a good thing that you think you can survive hell since if you follow his false gospel thats exactly where you will end up.
Jordan Peterson is one of the few who can thread the needle between being a theist and not being a theist while making both groups listen to what he has to say.
he has embraced Christ….not a theist anymore
@@bigtxsdude Praise God! Can you link where he says so?
@@bigtxsdude same thing
Thats good…very very good, because it’s prompting the individual to actually think…think. Think
Faith, hope and Love. And the greatest of these is Love. Love never fails. Always love and love unconditionally.
BRILLIANT!!! Being an ex catholic and now a born again christian this was a discussion for everyone! Brilliant and Well Done!!

Only Jesus can save you, but he created Dr Peterson and tasked him with standing for the truth.

i don't know if listening to Dr.Peterson will make you an 'intellectual' but he will definitely aid you in becoming you a better person.
becoming a better person is the most intellectual thing you can do in my opinion so anyone who chooses to listen and improve are very intellectual since they are capable of putting teachings to practice.
I love the blessing & prayer upon Jordan & his family, who have been through so much, at the end!
Thank you for your many likes. I'm glad that you all feel the same way.
The University of Toronto was foolish in not supporting Jordan.
Dear Dr Peterson... God loves you!
Thank you for this most extraordinary and insightful talk.
Thank you Father for the blessing which was so beautiful.
May God bless you Dr Peterson, your wife and children in abundance.
Blessings also on all present to make this a most special evening.

Sounds like a tall story.
Röky_M how so? Sounds similar to mine.
What did it feel like when the holy spirit "entered" you in bed????
This is so interesting… the genius of Peterson… love listening to his interpretation of the Bible. Always an eye opener! I’m a Peterson fan!
I am blown away! Thank you gentlemen. What a great way to spend an evening.
Good comment and Good insight. How will you know when you have taken on the correct responsibilities? Thank you 🙏
The gentleman who conducted this interview is one of the most well spoken people I have ever heard speak. Lighting up my Sunday morning here nearly a year after this took place.

That blessing at the end... I literally stood up and prayed and sang with them! I love Jordan! The Lord Bless You and Keep you and make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you, and give you peace. ❤❤
The search for truth takes all you have
This is beyond powerful, I needed this at this very point of my life and I have realized that the way out of suffering is suffering itself and eventually it's the precondition for a good life.
After a neighbor took me to Sunday school and I memorized Luke 2:14. I believe this is whyI am a community leader because I am able to overcome problems and difficulties. I look at the world differently. Ever situation of difficulties are opportunities to learn.

Its awesome and a privilege to see God working through Mr Peterson and the people he speaks with.
My Father had to walk with a cane his entire life, he was injured in an accident as a 9 year old boy that almost ripped his knee cap off, so much suffering, he was a godly man! A good father, every one should have such an example of strength, character, love and quiet suffering as he was leading his children, his family, in love with his wife! Grateful God was so generous to give me and my siblings the parents we were blessed to know! 7/3/22

All the things we lose while learning lessons, that’s why it’s important to keep learning and all the while appreciating what we have. Don’t be like me, learn your lesson before it’s too late

Danial ask Jesus Christ to help you get through your pain.... Surrender to him.... You are never alone.... Danial....
I promise it WILL get better.
I recommend you do a lot of reading on relationships and marriage.
As well as first and foremost pray and talk to God.
He's listening.
He can hear and see you.
He created you.
He knows how to fix
The problems and heartache we see impossible.
It is never too late while you yet breathe…thank you.
Jordan Peterson is a very intelligent man and seems very genuine.
Please remember this though...
There is ONLY ONE Way to the Father and that is Jesus Christ.
JESUS said "I am The WAY The TRUTH and The LIFE no man gets to the Father except by me." John 14:6
So Matthew 6: 33 ALWAYS
And remember you must be Born Again, the Born Again that JESUS speaks of in The book of John.
Allow the HOLY SPIRIT to lead you and help you understand the Bible.
It's about a RELATIONSHIP with God the Creator and His Son not a church, or cathedral or pastor or priest etc ...they can be good but NO ONE will get you to God the Father except Christ.
It's that simple and that hard in this CrAZy world.
May Ephesians 3:16-19 be yours.🙏
May John 14:27 cover you.
It's TOO late in the day to get side tracked.
John 3:16 wraps up EVERYTHING.
There's no pergatory or need for saints OTHERWISE is Christ lying?
Do we pray in His name or not?
He loved His mother yes!
But this Mother Mary stuff as well...is not cool.
Mary is hardly mentioned in the Bible.
Anything or one that minimizes or denies the Deity of CHRIST is Anti- CHRIST.
May you search and find absolute TRUTH.
P.S.
The snakes in the desert part and LOOKING at the SCEPTOR AND BEING HEALED Moses is SHOWING and preparing for CHRIST.
Christ had to be crucified and held up and All those that look upon HIM and believe WILL BE SAVED.
Just as those that looked upon Moses serpent on his stick were saved.
It's SO crucial to get accurate knowledge.
We can be WORLD smart but to KNOW God TRULY know HIM and serve HIM you need be humble and led by Holy Spirit. Jordan needs a study Bible from just a Christian perspective NOT a Catholic perspective.
This is not meaning to put down Jordan, he seems like a good guy in many ways but he's missing the mark and trying to apply a worldly psychological perspective to things+ depth, breadth, length+ width of God.
✝️🐑📖😉🕯️🙏
Bless you Dr. Peterson. You’re Loved, we the church hug you. Shine bright.
The transformation in you has been a gift to witness from afar.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit May you receive the peace and sweetness and gentleness that comes from feeling God holding your hand as you walk. Amen
